All this type of XP and the Trading Post, yet very little as to why vendor prices are messed up. The OP is simply saying that one ingot should vend for the same amount as two ore should vend (with a couple ingots could be more due to them needing a vendor mat to be made). There’s no “crafting for profit” in this. I should be able to gather 500 ore and vend it for the same as if I took that 500 ore and made 250 ingots. If the Trading Post truly matched the vendor pricing, then the ingots would be less than the ore needed to make them. But the ingots are more, and if they sell well (I’ve never tried), you could actually make minor profit. Case and point, TP Orichalcum: Ore = 2.97, Ingot = 6.10, profit = 16 copper! Vendor: Ore and Ingot = 8 copper, loss = 8 copper! If you’re doing crafting for the XP, those ingots (pre orichalcum obviously) would then be all (or mostly) used up for crafting the other parts needed to level the craft. And most crafting for profit are aiming at end products, so again the ore gets used. So all-in-all the vendor price of said crafted part is kind of null as you wouldn’t (shouldn’t) be vendoring it anyway. Only time I see it slightly annoying is if you’ve made too many sigils/runes and want to just vend them to break even (but even then the TP often yields more).

It’s proposed as the same stats as any other Exotic. What is really being added here is the ability to save a few bag slots by having one Legendary and not X Exotics. I like the idea, but feel it wasted overall. Anyone swapping stats (build) would be swapping out armor/accessories and even resetting Traits too, right? Sounds like a trip to town/bank anyway.

I do think they could add more to Legendaries though. Just more cosmetic things. A weapon specific title? Dye/effect unlock to make armor look similar? Emotes? Lots of possibilities.

“Are you lacking gear or something? = Insulting = “Are you stupid or something?”
“Are you having issues?” = Less Insulting = “Is there a problem?”
There a plenty of other ways to ask “Are you the better tank?” than “Are you lacking gear or something?".

First, you can report people via the web support page and put all the details you want. Second, if they were having issues, why not help? And then when you put what you said plus how you put “yeah, terrible group” next to a time stamp, makes you sure sound “elitist” to me. Third, it wasn’t just the one player that didn’t like you, it takes a “second” to kick someone.

Fixing the bug is only half of the issue. The game has a bug that is literally eating items from players and you have no system available to restore items. “When it’s ready” was the biggest lie ever told. I’m sorry to be so rude, but WoW support makes GW2 support look like monkeys. GW2 is more fun to play, but about 80% of my guild already quit because of how unfinished/untested this game is mixed with how bad the support is.

When my account got hacked in WoW, it took 30 minutes using an automated system to get my account and all of my items returned. Friends who got hacked in GW2? A week minimum to get the account back and the characters are likely permanently gone along with all of their items.

And how many years did it take Blizzard to develop this type of support and recovery system?

FYI, Blizzard also outsources their customer support. The issue is not that Arenanet does not have the tools, it’s that they do not have the time or staff yet to handle supporting requests for rollbacks on characters.

They are at their limit already with many other very legitimate account issues that need to be resolved first before they can even start to think about adding to the list of ‘support’ features. They are working on this, rest assured. They’re hiring new staff as fast as they can, and I am more than certain they’re expanding the capability and the tools available to their support staff as needed and as fast as possible.

Sure it would be ideal to have a system like this that is automated, but developing that also takes time, and doing it right, putting it through QA, etc also takes time. Give them a break. Yes it sucks if you get hacked and lose your items. Yes it sucks if the forge eats things. Is it the end of the world in either scenario? No.

As for the ‘when it’s ready’ thing being a lie I don’t agree. The game has its issues, sure, but it’s far from being unplayable. So you don’t use the mystic forge for a few weeks til they fix it? Big deal? There’s a thousand other things you could be doing.

Arenanet is not perfect, no company is, but they are trying hard and there’s no reason to treat them like crap. They’re people just like you, who have feelings just like you, and are frustrated with bugs, just like you. Having unrealistic expectations helps no one.

This is the biggest cop out ever. First, Support flat out tells you they don’t have tools to restore items. Recently this may have changed with the “Armor Box” mail out. Second, any company releasing such an anticipated title such as GW2, should have more than enough support staff on hand to filter and handle the massive amount of tickets that will come in. It’s called hiring temp staff. Big companies do it all the time: hire a bunch of temps for release, let ticket load die out a bit as things get worked out, temps contract end and move along nicely. Third, just because one company has had more time to develop something does not mean another company isn’t expected to be held to the first’s standards. Think about it a minute. They’ve had all the time in the world under the guise of “when it’s done”, but opted to do it this way. Bugs may not be a big deal individually, but they add up and how they are dealt with is huge factor.

Sorry for the rant. I’m just so sick of the “ArenaNet can do no wrong” attitude. They messed up, time for them to owe up and deal with it. The first step toward recovery is admitting you have a problem.

And yes, my wife has experienced the bug mentioned in this thread. We’ve both taken the attitude of only Forging known (and well tested) recipes.

Last night I was looking for Armored Scales too. Came up completely dry after several hours of farming. Had +50% MF and was killing more Barracuda and Jellyfish on the West side of Frostgorge than I could ever count.

In fact, farming scales is on my to-do list whenever I play next. I had not thought of Kraits in WvW. I’ll try that next to see.

There was an oddity, I was seeing Candy Corn last night. Just for a second or two in Cursed Shore. Perhaps it’s still buggy after the Halloween event?

I don’t think Magic Find works for Fine Crafting Materials as technically they are all the same quality. Anyway, I would go out with no Magic Find and get an average of 1 Armored Scale for every 20-25 Large Scales. That was when I was farming for my current Knight’s set. A good constant kill rate and I’d get that 1 Armored Scale every 20 minutes or so at the most. (This is all way better than, say, Blood farming.)

Spike Firebrand.8943, most of the environment that you should be having issues with can be manipulated by players. The actual “jumping path” that you go through is so straight forward it’s not even really all that much of a puzzle. And once you’ve done it once, you beat it, why go back? Oh yea, the PvP reward at the end OR the PvP fights that can break out in there. The sheer fact that there are traps that players have to set off makes it a PvP area. Add in the fact that the traps hurt everyone equally and that there are no real gates/walls to turtle behind, makes the puzzle the best place for open “sandbox” PvP. EDIT: By your above definition of PvE, everywhere is just PvE because everywhere has environment for you to deal with, even SPvP.

Honestly, if you truly only wanted to PvE and that’s all you cared about, you would just not go to WvW period. Map completion and Badges of Honor are only needed if you want a Legendary weapon. So sorry you have to partake in most the game to get such a reward. You’re lucky they don’t make you SPvP. Then you wouldn’t even have the chance to go in on off hours/wait for server dominance to swing to your favor. You’d be stuck actually PvPing. Woe is you.

WvW Jumping Puzzles are for Badges, Prints, a couple silver at most, and killing fools. None of which you need for PvE.

Regardless if this is a PvP zone or not, it does border on griefing since it is in a PvE puzzle. OP do you think Anet sits and watches every server, every zone, 24 hours a day? If you think that these people are griefing then report them. Posting it on the forums will do no good and will just cause people to flame you and grief you on the forums.

Question for you: Where does one fight the environment in these puzzles? Besides the few ooze in the Borderlands puzzles? All the fighting one does in the EB puzzle is done with/by players. Therefore it’s a PvP puzzle.

Again, in this case, it’s only really “griefing” when it’s your own faction/server.

Good laugh here. The Eternal Battlegrounds “puzzle” is setup for pure PvP and “keep the other guys out”. It’s full of traps that those further along can set off. Yes, siege construction is a tad over-powered in there. They could limit it, but eh, it’s not that hard to get around. Considering the rewards, it’s definitely worth taking the time to figure out.

I’m more concerned about the recent spree of griefing in there: Build ally siege en mass directly on the chest, making it harder for people to select and open the chest. Low, but still possible to get past, just take some time.

First, I’m so sick of people calling out “bot” every two seconds when it comes to farming and the Trading Post. Not all of us farming and using the Trading Post are bots, etc and it’s pure ignorance to say we are.

Now here’s a brief list of what I’ve found by experience (by no means is this official):
Bloods = bigger beasts. aka Trolls, bears, Shelks, etc
Claws = smaller beasts. aka shelks, cats, etc
Scales = fish. aka Krait, barracuda (west side of Frostgorge all the way), etc
Bones = all of the above plus undead
Totems = people. aka Crawl, Sons of Savnir, etc

Farm where you see these things in good supply. Also note that oozes can drop any of the materials, so they’re always worth a few seconds to kill along the way. Take anything you don’t want and sell them on the Trading Post to get cash to buy more of what you do want. Do the math on seeing if the upconvert method mentioned earlier is worth it – that’s looking at the TP and seeing if 50 T5 mats is more than 5 (the minimum you can get in conversion) T6 mats, make sure it’s a good 5 or more silver to cover the Mystic Coin and SP time.

Lastly, you can get a decent 71-78 Exotic set for some 50s-1g a piece. Easy enough to get while leveling from 65 to 80, even easier after 80. Or you could sit down, quit your kittenin’, think a minute, and get things done.

Anyway, the point was the screenshot. Apparently people are missing it. Trahearne comes in and says “You have to listen to us!” to the wall. So not only is this guy a pessimist, but he’s blind. On another note: I really don’t like the level scaling bit. It’s too broken. If you get scaled up to 80, you’re still severely out gunned. If you get scaled down to whatever, you’re still severely overpowered. I like the idea of “one level for all”, they just need to tweak it first.

I ask because I received one from my daily a couple days back and thought to use it. Now I threw in the Stone and three Exotic greatswords, and got a sword back (“Resonator”).

Does it just pull from the possible “special” (more uniquely named) items? Obviously it doesn’t stay consistent (ie four greatswords normally gives a greatsword back).

I don’t understand. Please clarify something for me: How are you going to “just farm the achievement”? I understand going in solely for getting the achievement done. But, it’s player kills. Killing players stops said players from doing something to help their side, thus killing them helps your side. You’d only be a jerk (and take way more time) if you just spent your WvW time running around looking for solo fights or say camping a puzzle. Just go with the masses and help get things done; you’ll be done in no time. You’re not going in and filling a spot to farm mobs (which some people actually do do).

: You just have to log in to Lion’s Arch to get the “Party” achievement. Once there, three things happen. First every 45 minutes the Mad King comes out and you play “Mad King says”, it’s an actual even (with proper event rewards) that has a chest at the end. First time doing it, you get a “Witch’ kitten#8221; (it’s not the same as the one you get from the store). Any time after that you get Trick-or-Treat bags. After that Mad King Thorn patrols around the Forge and where the statue/portal was telling his bad jokes. Then he disappears and event doors spawn that port you into the Forge’s cauldron.

My overall opinion: Act 1, pure crap; a simple quest with mob grind. Act 2, really nice; a whole new area to grind, two PvP matches (would love to see those modes hit SPvP permanently), and a challenging but not improbable jumping puzzle. Act 3, just alright; an instanced fight against Mad King Thorn, could have been better, he was easily soloable and overly farmed. Act 4, pure crap; see the above spoiler, seriously, that’s it, lamest party ever. I loved the dialog and scenery, was a little upset about “nerfs” but overall I enjoyed myself.

EDIT: Why is “hat” “kitten#8221;”?

Yes because you are not only endorsing somthing tha destroys game economies but also saying “i want to play a Massively Sigleplayer Online Game”

Excuess me you are incorrect. It does not destroy the game economy. What destroys the economy is gold sellers and bots. A bot does all its actions alone without any human contact needed. What I am saying in my post is why cant I purchase 3 more guild wars 2 accounts and have 4 character’s logged into the game at the same time while I have a program that repeats all my keystrokes and mouse movement/clicks to all other game clients. It takes a human to do it, it also takes real life cash. Something I would rather do then deal with 85%+ of people that I just do not want to know.

Welcome to botting. Three out of the four accounts are not requiring that “human interaction”. Now get over it. If you don’t like people, either go play something else, or just ignore the dungeons, etc that (nearly) require more than one person.

I missed out on the farming of the events. I was able to open one chest after the nerf and only received three greens. AND this is what I have to say;

1 – The event farmers prior to the nerf were not exploiting. I can’t even understand how one could consider doing an event and collecting the reward as exploiting. Yes, people should have seen the enhanced drop-rate and wondered if it was right, but you can’t blame them for being excited to actually see a decent drop rate from any event.

2 – A roll-back of any kind for this situation is just not right either. You can’t take away people’s loot from doing an event as it was designed. It’s not like they were glitching the chest so that it reset without the Champion.

3 – ArenaNet’s nerf is extreme one-sided overkill. Once every 24-hours or so is pathetic. They could have just made the chest events happen less often. They could have just adjusted the Exotic drop rates. There’s a lot they could have done to make it more fair for the remainder of the event.
