At 475, the only thing that gives xp is crafting/discovering exotics. All the new stuff is grey and dead.

So roughly how many more discoveries? I know they give less XP the higher your craft level, so the seven or so from 425-450 shouldn’t be enough.

Since the actual Ascended weapons are built in so many stages of refinement, they really should have staggered it more.

My concern is the 450+ stretch. Is it true that the ascended material refinement will only get you to about 470? Is that just the base refinement and not the timed parts or including those? If I still need to discover to get that last bit, roughly how many discoveries are we looking at?

The “crafting material” part is because Articifers can promote them. It’s a direct combine with no lose or gain other than saving a few mouse clicks.

As for post 300%, they appear useless. However, getting to 300% looks like it’ll take a good long while unless all you do is collect to salvage by the hundreds.

It costs 190g to go from 400 to 500 weaponsmith.
It costs 203g to go from 400 to 500 huntsman.
It costs 215g to go from 400 to 500 artificer.

http://gw2crafts.net/

That’s the cheapeast way to do it.

So much for Rjnemers 52g……….

Those guides are garbage. They’re all Exotic discovery, which is the most expensive way to get past 450. They should be labeled as “fast” guides, since those are all buy the stuff and just use discovery. A normal guide would include the T7 refinement.

After investigation by our programmers, they have determined that the fix to this issue would be too risky and could end up making the situation worse than it is. Unfortunately, this means that we’re not able to make changes to correct the issue. We’re sorry about this and we will be implementing ways to ensure this doesn’t happen in the future.

I can completely understand this response, however, it is incomplete. What’s missing is how to compensate for an un-resolvable issue. It’s perfectly fine to admit an issue is too great, it’s not fine to then leave it at that.

Yea, my child wearing a My Little Pony backpack totally ruins school and absolutely no learning could ever happen because of it. Oh and he has a pencil with an Mario eraser… Oh the humanity!

This has absolutely nothing to do with what i said. And i’d personally spend my “Oh the humanity!” for clueless people who compare the coherence of a specific fantasy setting with a totally unrelated real life environment.

First, I didn’t quote you, so of course it’s not directly to what you typed. Second, the point is that it’s up to ANet to dictate what they want their “specific fantasy setting” to be like, just as it’s up to parents and school officials to dictate what they want their learning setting to be like. They’re both related in the fact that you have no say in the matter and in that it has no direct effect on how the world, both real and virtual, works. The appearance of the backpack my character wears doesn’t effect how it kills things and what happens around it, just as the appearance of the backpack my child wears doesn’t effect how he learns and what happens in the greater world. Countries still go to war and dragons still corrupt.

I’d be okay with a mass reversion of all purple “transmuted” items. The owners just lose out on that transmutation crystal and possibly the rune in trade for having whatever stats they wanted for the time before this change. Give them all the original Legendary and be done with it.

With the “click to change stats” option that’s mentioned coming to Magic Find items, I can easily see a “click to revert” option for transmutations. Heck, give them to all transmutations. Let us still lose half the source, but get back the original.

And while they’re at let us forge the dang Queens and Risen Priests already. :P

First, “Death.. good” happens when they first attack too. They see things dead as a good thing. Second, later in the story you converse with an ex-king and he pretty clearly (I think, anyway) explains how it worked being a Zhaitan minion and he welcomes and thanks us for his final death and release to the mists. They’re pretty much controlled by Zhaitan but still have their own conscious. Jormag’s minions seem similar just more mindless brutes (think source material there). Third, Zhaitan consumed and gained knowledge which leads it to more powerful things. Thus, the trail should lead to the center of it all. So in a way Zhaitan was directly and specifically attacking targets simply because it senses the power it wants/needs being there. (Think dumping a chumbucket and getting a shark to show up, the shark doesn’t think “hey there’s a human, let’s get ’em”, it thinks “I smell something good, time to nom”.)

All in all, I’d say the dragons all work similarly and just take slightly different approaches. Zhaitan actively seeks out noms, Jormag just kind of lets things happen, Krak does a mixture, the rest we have nothing much to go on in GW2.

So far every living world’s open world content could be completely avoided if one didn’t like it. Boxes, holograms, and events you have to activate; single specific maps being raided, etc. If you don’t like it, don’t do it. So simple. Sure, they’ll put achievements to it, but with the current system of more than enough achievements (now including dailies), you’re only missing out on a few points for your next reward chest (which can easily be made up later).

I don’t see why one would want this new stat changing functionality when said person already decided that whatever stats they transmuted on was the end-all be-all.

The OP says they just had to have ’zerk, so they got it. Why now would they want to change it on the fly?

As for bumping up the stats to match ascended values: Even though I’m against it, I’d be okay about that. It should only be a one-time promotion, and people do put a lot of work in to making legendary weapons.

But as pointed out, the weapons are not legendary as per what the game sees. I know this from using exotic skins on masterworks. Sure the text shows the exotic coloring, but the rarity is still “transmuted” and I know no level 50 is wearing true exotics. It’s like replacing your Ford’s engine with a Honda engine then if Ford opts to recall and upgrade your car model’s engine, expecting them to upgrade your Honda replacement engine. (Bad example I know, both Ford and Honda are crap. :P ) Hopefully ANet is nicer and can see more to get things done for you, but I’d be prepared for the worst.

And guess what, you can still get an Ascended weapon and transmute your skin on to them stats.

Pennry.9215

Why are you worried about the 33% stat reduction being useless later when it is that way now?

Because people spent time and money making magic find gear. They spent consumables to craft armor and jewelery. Now that aspect of the gear (the only reason they made it, disappears). They should be able to go to a vendor and “turn it” in for gear of another stat type. This is on a piece by piece basis, not account wide.

This also affects weapons including exotics that they just released with MF attributes. Why would Anet release new weapons with MF (a few weeks ago during the champ update) knowing they would remove MF attributes? I thought that the day I saw the new weapon skins and stats…

Then there is magic find to infused armor that was purchased with laurels. Those laurels should be payed back, since they cost more than any other infusion. I have faith that Anet has thought this through somewhat. I just hope that it is done fairly.

They mentioned before about some kind of conversion from gear to the account system. If they keep this true, then the MF gear user will get a bonus to account MF right away. Thus they lose very little and the “very reason it was made” isn’t lost. Although, I’d be okay with them just removing MF from the gear and boosting the remaining two stats to meet other set standards. This way would be a bonus to me as just a boost to easy the getting of new gear – which isn’t all that hard to do.

I too, wondered why they announced the end of gear MF to only still release new gear with the stat on it.

As for Laurel related boosts, I can definitely see the need for some kind of refund. However, I don’t think it’ll even be considered looking at their previous record.

Your MF% will not change (much if at all) they are removing MF from gear and putting it as permanent/comsumable bonuses account wide.

Perhaps but what happen to armor stats? If they just remove it explorers gear will be rendered completely usuless having 33% less stats. It might as well be removed from the game. Which of course create a whole bunch of issues with your current gear.

I seriously hope Anet will give us more detailed information on what’s going to happen with current items/gear/weapons using MF. If they do another karma jug mistake despite making the promise to inform the community about changes like this, I will be very disappointed.

I didn’t say it was a good idea, but I do wonder what could’ve moved them to give people an item like this. The only thing I can think of is that there are a lot of abandoned low level alts.

It actually fits in with their whole “play how you want” bit with people creating and playing more than one class and/or race. It’s a “you’ve played this character for a whole year, how about trying out another?” However, it contradicts their movement toward time-gating.

Well it occurred to me that there have been a number of people complaining that the game is not alt friendly and leveling is boring etc.

This gift makes me wonder if Anet has seen in their metrics that there’s an unusually large amount of people who have a level 80 and then a few low levels. Just yesterday I saw this picture on the forum. Some guy asking about the colouring on his armour. I saw he had 5 toons…1 level 80 and the rest under level 10…3 of them were level 2 I think.

Maybe that happens a lot more and that would explain their attempt to bring a lot of characters up to level 20 at least. Perhaps hey wanted to revitalise alts a bit. Of course there are also players here who didn’t need that…oh well, same gift for everyone, whether you want it or not.

They already have the XP rewards adjusted to make the first ten levels faster than any other ten levels. They already have five simple 1-15 zones, plus six cities, to get ahead of the curve of the higher content. I’m ignoring the impact crafting on has on “playing” a character while it levels.

I don’t think free levels in any game is a good idea, especially in one like GW2 where leveling is already so simple. If anything, I’d go more for just a skill points item.

If you’re so casual that making enough gold to level a craft profession (or eight) is unreasonable, then you’re so casual that “being competitive” shouldn’t matter. If you’re so concerned about “playing the game the way you want” that taking the time to level a craft profession (or eight) is unreasonable, then you’re so laid back that “being competitive” shouldn’t matter.

I could go on.

There is absolutely no reason to justify wanting the stat increase of going Ascended that doesn’t also justify putting in the effort to do so.

I will, however, agree that having more than one way to get gear of any stat tier is a good thing. I’ll note here that there is already more than one way to get all the existing gear – including Ascended. They already said they’ll keep adding methods as time goes on. Back to being casual or unconcerned to just waiting it out and getting it in due time.

I meant RNG boxes. Of course all mmorpgs pretty much require RNG.

Grind mob/boss for RNG at loot that’s pretty much needed to better the character or buy, via gold or cash, RNG boxes with skins that have no effect on how your character performs?

People throw hundreds of Gold at these things with every release to show rarity, etc. That kind of spending power just makes me think that one should spend more time in GW2 working on what they want in-game than just kittenin’.

I don’t understand how you can say such a huge nerf is nothing simply because you don’t use the item being nerffed. I don’t use dungeon tokens, nor much Gold, yet I’ll still went “WTF?” when they got nerffed.

As someone with four Legendaries, sure I have little use for more Karma (past possible #5), but I still try and help people get their’s and a huge piece of advice was “wait for max boosters to consume all your liquid Karma”. Not just for Shards but for other Gold conversions.

Alas, I kind of saw this coming with the nerf to Gold Find and the coming changes to Magic Find (read: nerf due to just knowing they’ll lower the numbers since it’ll be account wide).

But why such a low (comparable) percentage on the increase? With the added account boosts we could get over 100% increase, 80% ish without account or infusion boosts. I would think a fair and more global flat increase would be 75% or more, not the 50% we’re given.

The difference is that magic find is being removed from the item structure completely, and only available as an account wide bonus. Gold find on the other hand is remaining (infusions and food) and still working on anything that drops coins.

I expect they may phase it out as well, and when that time comes, I am sure you will get compensated. Or they may never phase it out, in which case you get your extra 1 copper for every 5 copper dropped.

They’re transferring one to account wide, where it’ll still effect everywhere it can effect, and compensating. While they’re nerfing the other by removing where it effects 99.9% (all champions and legendaries), and not compensating.

They’re boosting MF to be account wide and nerfing GF to be that 0.1% of gold drops, yet MF get compensated. Last I check compensation was given for something lost, not gained.

I think if they do give you a refund on those laurels, they should charge you the extra gold you made while you had it. Fair is fair.

Otherwise you’d have a bunch of free gold that you didn’t pay any laurels for.

As I pointed out earlier in the thread: They already said that they were working on some sort of trade for the MFers. By your standard they should just make all the MFers give back all the better loot they got using it.

The real problem is that MFers will still invest in the new account MF to continue to get bonuses and might get a free boost in the trade off as well as a new stat to replace MF on their gear, where the GFers don’t get anything.

If MFers got the “too bad” treatment as well, I would be okay with losing the infusion and second necklace I invested in.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Pennry.9215

It’s World Completion, not Tyria Completion.

It’s not all PvP, you kill a mob to take things over. You don’t kill a player and they drop the Vistas, etc. You can avoid player interaction altogether by running in the back of the masses or just popping in when your server already owns something you need.

Every major city has a few criers for recruiting people for WvW. There is nothing telling you to go help out in SPvP. So it’s obvious one is part of the world and one isn’t, and thus one counts for World Completion and one doesn’t.

And, no, you are not forced to get World Completion. Those two Gifts of Exploration are not necessary for one to stay in Tyria and do all that Tyria has to offer (including WvW). Sure, if you want a Legendary, you’ll need the Gifts; but needs driven by wants aren’t real needs anyway.

First off, bosses in dungeons will be getting the new chests which contain things to sell, thus possibly making more than the silver they could have dropped. So, farming could still be a thing. As for the end reward with the Karma, Tokens, and silver, that gets DR’d so fast it matters so little.

Second, yes, they are killing Gold Find. The only mobs that consistently drop coin are Champions and Legendaries. This poses the question of change/compensation. They hinted at a conversion for all those running Magic Find, but ignored the Gold Finders. Having spent the extra Laurels for the Infusion (and second necklace to put it in), it would be nice to see some kind of nod in the direction of Gold Find as Magic Find is getting. I can agree with the “you got some use out of it” argument against it, but in that case both Finds should just be ignored.

New Legendary Trinket?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Pennry.9215

I think it’d be pretty neat if a different piece give different effects, with the aura intensifying the more pieces you have equipped. So:

  • Amulet would affect your Elite visual
  • Accessories and Rings would affect the visuals of skills 6 – 9

So a Warrior with a Bifrost-like Accessory would have their Stomp modified to cause a rainbow shockwave, as an example.

As neat as that would be, you’re looking at either half garbage with skills grouped to type or making a trinket per skill and that’s a lot of trinkets.

I’ll be happy with dynamic stats. Each of my weapons already engulf my character pretty well.

“Communication.” You should wiki that.

Players communicate what they way, developers work it out. There is little reason for them to have to take the time to communicate back. Not when crafting is such a straightforward process.

Buttercup.5871 – What do you want them to say? It was obvious to me that they felt said craft (your example) required so many mats as it was a convenience item to have it last twice as long. Do you want a lot of fluff as to why they think those numbers were proper? Do you want the token “we’ll look into it”?

Lastly: Bosses, that we players tend to think we are, have a saying “less talking, more doing”. We, the boss, told them, they go do. Repeat.

Legendaries provide other benefits (or they will do, at any rate), such as:

  • Always being on par with the highest tier of gear
  • The ability to swap stat combinations out for others while out of combat.

As for the visuals, who knows? Maybe they’ll give an aura or something?

I’m going to go with (and hope for) these points. Go through the long process of making Legendary trinkets just so you don’t have to make another set ever again. As someone with multiple sets per character, I’ll surely jump on more Legendary gear.

As for visuals, I don’t see a need for more. I’m already concerned with clashing visuals between weapons and back items, now they’ll add armor to the mix. Trinkets would be just overkill.

A-net only has so many resources. They can’t possibly make both fractals at once, so they’re giving us the choice of which one we want first. Being understanding is the first step to being contempt.

Yeah i mean just because one living story team was able to make both of the story dungeons in the first half of the year doesn’t mean that 4 teams could make two fractals…..

That’s right, they can’t. 3 of those 4 teams are already at work on other projects. Don’t expect them all to be waiting for this one vote’s end result. Really, only 1 team will have the time to work on this. While one of the others, among other things, will be busy turning the Aetherblade and Molten facilities into condensed fractals.

I don’t think you understand what was said here and there. They, the devs, said we’ll only get one – not one now, one ever. What this thread is doing is asking for “protest” to show support that we, the players, would like both eventually – one now, one later. Thus one team of assorted monkeys have plenty of time to do both, one by the promised end of the year, the other some time after.
