I’d like this idea and it would actually make me consider all the other permanent items.

However, you have to think of it from ANet’s point of view: Sell one “account bag” per account and potentially sell one of each of the permanent items OR potentially sell any number of said permanent items. They’d probably have to set the “account bag” price high enough to offset the potentially lost sales and with so many possible permanent items, that’s fairly improbable.

When ask the policeman why he didn’t do anything he said it’s the civilians own fault that the neighborhood is too dangerous.

Yes, if no one want to do Tequatl on your server it is not Anet’s fault. It is the fault of players on your server.

It’s not the police’s fault people are bad. It’s not the police that made the shooter either. So where’s your point in comparing this to Anet making an encounter and people telling you to get people together to do said encounter?

And FYI local vigilantly groups form all the time to deal with their own problems.

There was a scholar in the story instance that mentions it was found by the Priory. I think, don’t quote me on that.

It’s the NPC with the story page on it’s head right as you go in. She asks if you want to know more about Scarlet and you say “yes”, then she tells you they found the “lab” (more like a cell imo).

Clearly Scarlet is trying to build an army of mechanical beings in hopes to control what she is about to unleash. Her plan is to direct it elsewhere and let whatever happens happen, while using her mechanical army to seize the aftermath for her own.

So she’s made an alliance to steal enhanced forging from (Molten) and another to steal a mechanical technology to be enhanced (Aetherblades/Clockwork). She took an interest potions to control wildlife (Southsun) and to control Tyria’s population (Toxic). Now she’s tracking the flow of energy (probes) to learn the path she must direct this “unleashed force” and to better control it. All the while taking pop shots at “empires”.

It seems to me she wants to direct this “force” (Mordemoth?) at another target, possibly Primordus via Lion’s Arch (or just using it to topple all the empires at once). She is “mad” after all.

You are correct, I failed to do so in the last update though. I did 8 events last night so it would be 26 rares from drops for that time.

I wasn’t able to get arah or mel last night and those are 2 of the better ones for drops from foes.

From the information given, it seems you’re only removing the bonus rares we get from the set of daily bosses. When you should also note and remove what you get from the event’s chest.

Simply that standard crafting is pretty much left incomplete.
Can someone make full exotic berserker? No, temples only offer specific sets, PS gives masterwork, WvW vendors only offer soldier/invader stats and guild stuff goes up to rare.

Want to have a normal looking back item, like a quiver with arrows or gsword sheath? Not possible, only flashy ascended or limited temple stats.

This in turn makes ascended/legendary vs. exotic gap larger.
It’s also that ascended/legendary isn’t a requirement to play the whole game!

Also in mind that devs promised that “elite” (ascended/legendary) gear won’t be better than standard high grade gear and it’ll be based on player skills. Like in GW1.
Tho this promise has been broken…

Guild weapons and backs are exotic too. WvW vendor offers “most” (as in I’m not going to check if it’s “all”) stat combos. And they stated that only Legendary won’t be higher stats than the tier below, nothing about ascended. In fact, they’ve stated that ascended was supposed to be in the game from the start only it was held back on for a number of reasons.

Um there is a way to break soulbinding although it will cost a lot of gems

1: use the upgrade extractor to salvage the rune if you want to keep it (though, frankly just buying a new rune would be cheaper than the extractor)

2: transmute the looks of the exotic onto the stats of a white or blue piece of armor to make it account bound

3: pass to the character that you want to put the armor on

4: use a transmutation splitter to give you back the account bound white or blue item plus the exotic armor now soulbound to the toon that used the splitter

But, again, that’s pretty pricey and probably cheaper to rebuy the mats and recraft the armor.

By the way, transmuting and then splitting also resets the ability to choose the stats on ascended items like the light of dwayna – in case you ever feel the need to do that.

If you use an of level white/blue, you can transmute the upgrade over in it. Then when you split, you’ll get the upgrade seperate and just have to reapply it.

just because you can’t see the sources for the flood of silk, doesn’t mean they are not there. Anet obviously sees a high consistent, long term supply.

There might be a consistent, long term supply, but it is far outstripped by demand – and that’s in a situation where the previous main silk sink (upgrading to gossamer) went out of commision due to being no longer cost effective. And the demand is not going to disappear anywhere soon – the amount of silk on TP before it started do dissapear was not enough to cover even a tiny fraction of needs.
Remember, the average number of silk scraps for an ascended armor set is above 8k. The same “high consistent, long term supply” with far lower demand resulted in being only about 3 million silk scraps on TP the moment ascended armor patch hit. It’s how much has accumulated since the beginning of the game. And those 3 million scraps are enough for just about 300-350 sets of ascended armor. That “flood” of silk supply is just a drop in the ocean. Even after the first wave of crafters passes, the demand will still outstrip supply by a wide margin for a very, very long time.
I’m pretty sure we’ll see corrections to ascended crafting prices well before the silk market will stabilize (which doesn’t mean it will be anytime soon).

First, you’re comparing a long term supply with a short term demand spike. Second, you’re ignoring that Anet wanted ascended items to be a moderately long term goal. Thus, they’d set it’s requirement to meet a longer term of supply. They’ve also pointed out several times that thye didn’t like seeing items on the Trading Post at near vendor prices. It’s why they picked the greens and blues for salvaging for Luck, and it’s why they change these crafting requirements.

As for how much of the population noticed the previous loss on silk (etc) when it was at it’s lowest; I’m sure Anet knows that. We can only guess based on how much was listed at that price compared to how much we think the average player gets. But you also have to take in to account the other “blind majority”. One group just blindly lists on the trading post while the other just blindly vendors everything.

All that said, I’m not sure why the T5 leather wasn’t set to 100 for the ecto craft as well. My experience seem to show that both the silk and leather were over abundant and at bottom pricing. If cloth really is out there by twice the volume as leather, I’d rather they tweak the drops rather than make one craft different than the rest.

Game is originally (debate “currently” elsewhere) built around putting in a bit of effort to get appearance items. Allow people to make whatever they want, and there’s now no point to playing the game to look good.

Never mind the fact I’m totally against increased loading times do to the sheer unknown of whatever someone else has done. Make it a toggle? Way more work and my client still has to support the load.

The games that let you make whatever you want usually lack anything to do other than just make that stuff. I like doing stuff in Guild Wars 2 while going “kitten , I look purrty”, not just stand there.

The worst thing is seeing a warrior trying to attack people just pointing out a clear mistake in game just in fear of anet reaction….

Its because of light armor in the past trashing warrior and getting them nerfed:

1. OMG Warriors only in CoF and they wont take my ele/necro/etc… nerf warriors !! (Anet nerfs traitlines focus/zerker power)

2. OMG Warriors are too strong in WvW And hurt my zerker ele – Hammer gets a DPS Nerf

3. OMG Warrior mobility is out of control – Nerf them like RTL Got nerfed!! (Inc. Nerf)

4. OMG Warrior does too much dps without investment (Unsuspecting Foe nerf)

Etc… lights cry all the time, its about time they get dished back some of their own nonsense. and you wonder why other classes fear the nerfbat?!??! do you pay attention to any patch notes?

I can t answer but i doubt you are seriously want to discuss the balance of the game …….with heavies being top tier in every single part of the game ans still getting buffs…..

first would be totally nonsense saying that you are wanting a mistake to stay because as a Revenge for warrior nerf (that didn t change anything).

Second i’d like to not see warriors crying about nerfs while most LFG posts are “only heavies”, and they are the top tier of ANY single part of the game…..that would lead any other game to a serious balance review….

In the meantime ele can win the most dps against an openworld mob OR is viable only with guardians and warriors support.

Would you like to test the speedclears in fotm higher levels (with proper instabilities) between a 5 light team and a 5 heavy team?

This really makes me think about the future of the game and to what caused the best community to be replaced by what we have now……

Probably a change of target audience…

First: Game is balanced around comparing the classes to each other, not comparing classes to mobs. The players balance their parties based on the classes compared to what mobs they’re going to fight.

Second: Most times I’ve seen the “all heavy” request, it’s due to them being able to put out DPS and survive with little player thought. Thus, players assume this will be a faster/smoother run. When, in fact, the runs could be better with more mixed classes if the players behind the classes know what they are doing.

Third: I can see complaining about the silk disparity due to it not only now needing more scraps per bolt but also needing more bolts per Ecto refine. However, just because you can’t see the sources for the flood of silk, doesn’t mean they are not there. Anet obviously sees a high consistent, long term supply. Players obviously only see a temporary spike due to the frenzy for what’s new.

How do I get traveler runes off karma armour

if you had transmuted the rune to any other REAL armor piece and not just a skin you can salvage it (if this other armor piece is no karma armor too cause you cant salvage ANY item that you bought with karma!)
just buy a lvl 10 white armor piece or whatever and transmute it to it then you can salvage

Just to point out for anyone else reading this: The white or blue item has to be of level to accept the upgrade before transmutation. Transmuting won’t let you pass an upgrade to an item lower than the upgrade’s required level.

As one with six 5/5s in my trinkets already, I was thoroughly kitten ed when I saw that mouse over in the preview. I can understand and like the agony infusion slot change. Let those that want to grind higher and higher Fractals, also grind higher and higher agony resist. But the 5/5s gives everyone a use for the infusion slots. I’d be okay if the only let the agony resist part get upgraded and the other stat stayed the same.

I’m guessing most replys on this thread are for people who play a lot. I’m lucky if I have enough time to do my dailies. I get time to play normally three times a week for 2 hours at most. So at most 6 hours a week dew to work and real life. The gold sinks are a pain for me. I find it hard to gather the gold needed to buy the extra mats I need ect for crafting buying items that I need. I know how important they are but some are silly. Like the cost for using one to Rez. It would work like it did in guild wars. You Rez at the closest one to you/found. The damage to your armour can also be costly during world bosses with out the way point Rez costs. But that’s just me.

Just imagine the costs when people start charging insane amounts because there is too much gold in the system making one gold equate to a silver now (or even a copper). It can, and very much will, happen if “gold sinks” are removed.

As for the second part, that’s on you. Six hours a week is more than enough time to learn the game.

Things getting harder for casual gamers

You know.. I have a family and a full time job, and like video games. I decided to get this game cause it was supposed to be balanced. Your win/lose situation on WvWvW (I don’t play dungeons) would depend on player’s ability, not on gear.

Now all this craze about making ascended armors and weapons. I definitive DON"T have the time to farm stuff and laurels and bla bla bla don’t know what other stuff needed to make a set or a weapon. Even the hardcore gamer’s that can have the time to farm are complaining about the difficulty and the TIME to getting the mats.

Soon, lots of people that can afford to play this game all day, will have ascended stuff vs the normal players that the most they can afford is exotic.

This game is just becoming like the rest of online FARMING video games. If I wanted to do hardcore farming, I would play Farmville, for Christ’s sake.

First, your win/lose situation in WvW depends on numbers, then skill/knowledge of class(es), then the gear comparison of one rarity.

Second, don’t say you don’t have the time to farm. Everyone that logs in has time to gain materials. You’re simply preferring to do something else other than directly gaining the materials. As a “casual gamer”, you just have to accept that things will come to you slower than those “hard core gamers”. They got Exotics well before you did. The “I’d rather do something that doesn’t grant ascended gear, so no one should have it” bit is just selfish and goes against the other phrase the anti-ascended crowd loves – “play the game how you want”. Sometimes getting things you want requires doing things you don’t like. In this case, the ends justify the means.

Third, so far this is in no way a “gear treadmill”. We don’t need higher tier gear to progress in the game. We don’t need T1 gear to do T2 content, then T2 gear to do T3 content, etc. We don’t have a whole new level cap that makes our current level gear ineffective. We have content that can be done in any tier gear, higher tiers only make it easier.

The only content we have that has any sort of gear grind to it is Fractals of the Mists – and they were kind enough to separate that grind to it’s own little section where it cannot effect others. The infusion slots and the ability to create higher resistance infusions is all that we have to treadmill. And that is only really necessary for difficulties 51+, so they were even kind enough to give us a head start on content they have yet to introduce.

I know of no other game that lets it’s players work on preparing for future challenges. Everywhere else they make us wait for the challenge then struggle to get through it, and repeat (bam! treadmill). This thought goes for the rest of the ascended crafting process, they used mostly existing materials that we’ve seen all this time and only added a few new ones – and those new ones they put in as rewards for things we’ve already been doing.

The only thing against ascended crafting is the daily time gate. But it’s still not a grind to hit a crafting station and do a couple crafts for a few seconds.

Lastly, I’ll be sure to tell the people that I know that do play Farmville that they’re considered “hardcore video game farmers”.

Tailoring as always used more cloth to make the gear, it is cloth based after all. It’s only now more noticeable due to the time gate. However you can skip it by them allowing the materials to be tradeable.

Either hope that Damask falls in price (and it should in time), so that you can essentially trade the mats by selling what you don’t need. Or work out some material trade among your friends.

I can see why they wont let you join mayem with a group, easy to dominate and becomes to competitive. But the bell one would be cool, same with the puzzle, set up a group race thing!

Correct. Specifically for Snowball Mayhem (a PvP activity), allowing group join would allow pre-made parties to face-off against random match-ups, which would result in very lopsided matches. While a matchmaking system for Snowball Mayhem would be nice, it was outside the scope for this release.

This poses the question of how far ahead you really are in planning content, especially content themes that repeat (ie holidays). From the player standpoint, you had nearly a full year to work in group join. It’s not like this wasn’t a complaint back at last year’s Wintersday.

I fail to see how you can use one existing system to make things easier for you (ref preview video on why the JP is a PvP map now), yet not continue to use the same system to make it easier for us.

I’ll agree with adding these PvP event activities to the custom arenas in SPvP. You can disable achievements or whatever, we really just want to play the mode together.

Forgive me for not understanding, but how do multiple people farming an area reduce supply? If two people attack the same enemy, they can each get loot from him, and in many cases more people means more mobs spawn, and better ones with higher loot tables.

Only events have the chance to spawn more depending on player presence. As for regular mobs just out there, it’s about tagging. Yes, the 80s can get lower level salvage drops and bags, but they also tend to kill things faster. Scaling can only go so far. Remember that scaling makes your gear equal to gear of that level. Meaning full exotics in a 30 zone means that you have exotic stats against things build for a rare stat max (level 30s can’t wear exotics). Thus, if more than one person starts farming an area, things start ding faster and making is harder to tag for drop credit.

Lucky for us there are more lower level zones than higher. We can spread out on different zones at different times. And if it’s just too much at your time, you can always just do whatever you do for gold and buy from them farmers. Or come back later.

First, “most classes” require a min of 4 weapons. An ele can get away with 2, but they shouldn’t.

Second, compare current exotic inscriptions and insignias.

Third, think about that month to get laurels – it’ll also take a good part of it, if not more than that, just to to get through the daily time-gating on crafting the parts. Those that are going to buy the parts to skip that will most likely already have saved enough gold and laurels for the designs as well.

Lastly, just because you may not use multiple sets, doesn’t mean that other won’t. Thus, your comparison of how many ascended whatevers one needs is pure opinion based on personal preference.

You’re assuming that enough players will go out and farm them when FGS champ farming is more efficient since it yields much more gold per hour than you would save by farming the materials.

Not everyone hoarded supplies and I showed you exactly how many people would be able to craft to 500 on all three professions if there was 1,000,000 supply which I seriously doubt. People will try to max all three for their alts and likely for the AP. Look at how many people are on the AP leader boarders. Do you think they’re going to sit back and fall behind? The AP leader boards are one of the contributing factors as to why demand will be high at first.

I’m not assuming anything. I’m simply pointing out that one can farm the materials. So many people say you can’t farm the cloth/leather like you can the metals; when, in fact, you can potentially farm more.

Secondly, all your made up numbers are based on a static supply for instant demand. That’s not the case. Demand is constantly pulling from the supply and the supply is continually providing enough to keep the price at it’s current point. Sure, prices will go up, spike, and eventually steady out. But there will always be some supply be it from farmers, leveling, or whatever. There are enough people that either don’t care for ascended armor or are just waiting for more drops/another way to get it.

Third, it’s nobody’s fault but their own if they failed to stockpile materials while prices were lower. It was a known fact that ascended armor was going to be released and that it would be obtained via crafting. Anyone caring to have a set ASAP should have either hoarded enough materials to crank it out via daily crafting or hoarded enough gold to buy the ascended parts from those just selling to make a buck.

Lastly, a good laugh over the Achievement Leaderboards. If people want to pay extra for the 25 points (per craft) first, then let them. But note that the points aren’t temporary and thus can be done at any time, so any “falling behind” would be temporary.

Again, if grinding gold is your thing, be prepared to pay the higher prices but don’t complain as you can always grind the materials yourself.

You can easily farm lower tier materials. Salvage items and bags drop per the mob’s level, not you character’s. Any 80 should be able to kill tons of lower levels and make way more. Salvage/open for what you can, sell the other crap you’ll get to buy more.

Light and Medium crafters get the advantage of selling off any metals they get. Don’t see what’s stopping them from gathering the metals and selling it to buy the cloth/leather they need.

Nevermind those of us that hoarded enough to supply our own needs and then some.

The prolem lies within the nature of stats. While many other (MMO)RPGs have classes which only use CERTAIN stats, in GW2 the Characters can have many different varieties.

So in the worst case, let’s say I play 3 characters which play PvE and WvW. For PvE I want Berserker Gear and for WvW I want PVT gear. This means I need to create 3×6×2 = 36 armor parts plus weapon sets plus trinkets. This is insane and stupid. Not even grindy games like WoW do that. It should be the complete opposite: as one of anets slogans was ‘play the way you want’.

And you want to play with both sets. So either decide to want to play the game of making the sets or rethink how much you want them. (Honestly, for the PvE vs WvW sets, why even consider upgrading the PvE one? Maybe after the WvW sets, but even then, not a real concern.)

It’s not “play the way you want”, it’s “play the game the way you want”. See what I did there? There are rules and processes in the game that you have to follow, you can’t just ignore them because you want to.

the bigger issue is…you can’t even dodge them well… since in 90% of the time they hit you anyway, even if you are in dodge animation

You’re probably trying to dodge the wave you can’t jump or dodge.

I’ve actually seen the ‘evade’ text and still take the damage. IMO moving walls of damage are just asking for bugs.

Gather on multiple characters, craft the one thing per day, sell the surplus gathered, buy more of what was just crafted, repeat daily. Or just gather and sell and then just buy what you’d craft – it’s usually the same or cheaper.

Not a hard concept. Those with more and more alts make that process easier and easier.

do legendary weapons have 2 infusion slots and 2 AR slots?
also, in a way this kinda demotes previous AR/stat infusions
before: 5 AR / 5 power infusion = 50g
now: 5 AR infusion = grind, 5 power infusion = 5 laurel
point being that if you went with a cheap 5 AR infusion before, it would only cost you 5 laurel to get what 50g got you before. multiply by (ring + ring + acc + acc + amulet + back + weapon = ) 8 infusions, and that’s the difference between 400g and 40 laurel.

Legendaries only have the infusion slots, no agony slots. You gain the agony slots by doing the infusion process via the essences and forge.

Salvage items drop per the area’s level, not your own. Other gear drops can too, most commonly being white items, but this is far and few between. And that’s ignoring the insane gold making going on and will only increase with said armor patch.

Does agony only change with every tier? If it still does then you still have 40 infusions drops per tier to make upgrades with. Combine that with the number given as drops increasing per tier and you’ve got a fairly easy climb. Also note that level 50 will have a set agony and people will still do dailies and what not to keep increasing their AR, then when 51+ comes out, they’ll already be ahead of the game.

That’s garbage. We did a 9 just for grins and got 1g for finishing. A 20s increase for some 21 levels is not what I would call balanced reward scaling.

from what they described, I would guess this will be what happens:
Solaria (infused) with 5 AR / 5 power infusion (total of 10 AR) will become:
Solaria (infused) with 5 power infusion and 5 AR infusion (total of 10 AR)
It sounds like if you find two 5 AR infusions, you can combine them with artificer to make a 6 AR infusion, which you can then replace that old 5 AR infusion with, and retain the 5 power infusion.
I’m curious what they’ll do with a Sunrise that has two 5 AR / 5 power infusions in it.

Mostly this. The only thing they did was move the +5 AR you get when infusing and made it a slot. Nothing else changed.

leaderboard should show time needed per fractal and per level so people can trie to do speedruns and be faster than others

And this is what i expected them to implement.
Or a sort of point-based system, per level, that takes in account various factors like the fractals encountered, time of completition of said fractals, number of characters downed (depending on the fractal) and so on.
Instead, we get a “first”. Disappointing to say the least.

For goodness sake, yes! ArenaNet please, for all that is good in the world go to your parent company NCSoft and kindly steal the Dark Poeta mechanic and slap one of your leaderboards on it!

It just looks bad when the narrator keeps spouting off about the QA team playing it so much.

I also got a chuckle after the pilot was dead and the rest of the team just left them there. Looking back this leads me to believe it was more a bug on the down state auto moving and maybe the team didn’t see him there and he was actually still up top getting hit by the traps. Which could be caused by any number of things including client side issues.

Forget the made up numbers, just look at ANet’s reaction history. Always starts with them totting a challenge then being shocked the players master it “quickly”.

A leaderboard of “firsts” makes no sense. All it will show is who has the free time to crunch the levels the fastest. And if there level 39 example of exploding corpses is what they consider hard, it won’t be long.

I’d rather see a time trail board.

I have complete sets of ascended gear for WvW and PvE. My primary concern with the WvW infusions was the guard components

so i guess i’m just left to delete my pve ascended gear. GG anet
