SWOTOR RPG not mmo
Its SWTOR, not swotor…lol
However, yes the game died like a dodo BUT you cannot deny their character personality system was a fantastic idea, you (if you wanted) could see visual changes depending on your choices, cut scenes/player conversation options had an actual impact on how the scene and NPCs reacted to you. It was great for imersion.
If I could steal anything from one game and add it to GW2, it would have to be the whole character personality/persona system from SWTOR

Hell no.. its going to make it worse. Face it people on low pop servers are more likely to guest themselves onto a higher pop server so they can get more interaction ! ! !
And the server that felt empty… will feel like a ghost town !

GW2 was always supposed to have player housing, thats why each player has a home instance. Unfortunately Anet never bothered to get it ready b4 launch and they seem a little slow in bringing it to us now !

To the low-life scumbag that just PM me selling gold… Really ! Your joking right ?
You think just because you list some in-game items that Im suddenly going to lose all my brains and feel I have to buy gold from you ?

You ARE NOT the sole provider for the best in game equipment, the TP does that very well already ! Go get a life ! ! !
To anybody else that receives these types of PM, report them using the ‘report’ function, then hopefully we can help Anet crack down on these pathetic life forms !
Money can’t buy happiness, But it allows you to search in more places to find it !
Removing this function was a stupid idea.
There were times when playing on an character I would find gear that was intended for other classes. Was very simple before, you viewed it, if it looked good you kept it. Now you have to go to the nearest bank, deposit it, log out, log in with new character, go to a bank, remove item and then you get to view it.
(then reverse the whole process just to carry on playing)
Geez !

Yes,
Or at least a few more to choose from and not the limited amount we are dictated in using now !

1) Duelling is supposed to be happening at some point.
2) Absolutely no to inspections. There are enough elitists around already and the last thing this game needs is another feature to allow them to stroke their own egos whilst locking other players out of their oh-so-special groups.
Couldnt agree more.
Duelling, OMG yes, would be great for this game.
Gear inspection, god NO. WoW had that and the only thing it did was seperate the community, making elitist jerks more of a problem !

I can only answer for myself here, but I found Orr boring. The lower/mid level areas have far more in the way of diversity, more DEs, they just keep me more engaged mentally.
I have far more fun running round the lower lvl areas, helping guildies or just repeating DEs (I would say the Norn areas dont live up to the others tho)
Money can’t buy happiness, But it allows you to search in more places to find it !
However what you don’t seem to get is that difficulty and better gear have nothing to do with each other but rather are each others direct opposite. New and more difficult mobs, yes. New skins, yes. Higher stats, no.
Better gear leads to lower difficulty instead of higher. The higher your stats, the easier the content becomes.
Hmm.. I suggest you go try a run CoF or Arah in lvl 1 gear then tell me gear lvl has no bearing…lol
You could also look at your own comment and ask if gear lvl has nothing to do with difficulty, wht did Anet even bother to give us different tiers of gear ???
Money can’t buy happiness, But it allows you to search in more places to find it !
we all get to be skritt for a day
Now your just talking a load of skritt….lol
Money can’t buy happiness, But it allows you to search in more places to find it !
Firstly I never said games with linear progression cannot survive !
Second, this is GW2 so what ever happened in GW1 doesnt mean toss !
Third, this game is very much geared towards becoming a vertical progression game. Fractals started this trend, AND Anet themselves said they want to increase lvl cap later on which is vertical progression.
Lastly, they only said there would be no new tier in 2013, they did not say there never would be, so vertical progression in GW2 is very likely.
If your going to flame somebody, please at leat try to get your facts right before you do so ! ! !

And what happens once every player has the best gear possible ???
Are you saying that Anet should not introduce any new/harder mobs for us to fight ?
To expand/progress the game eventually Anet will ‘have to’ add more difficult content. That means having to add new/better gear to enable the player to beat that content.
No new gear/mobs = stagnent game = dead game !

No mate, I know you were not doing it in that way. Was just hoping for a clarification on it. You’re right tho, ‘Calling out’ as you put it is probably closer to what I meant.
Guess they’re happy to ignore it when its a compliment eh…lol

They will never “fix” this because it is very exploitable, what if the mob can’t get back up at you and is melee? Perfect way to kill hard mobs, drop them off a cliff then pew pew them? Event mobs can get stuck that way preventing events from progressing, so overall a big no
Not so, If a mob is in a position where it cant attack you doesnt it go ‘invunerable’ ? hence making any hope of exploit a waste of time ? !
Money can’t buy happiness, But it allows you to search in more places to find it !
1000 hours is nothing. I already have way over 1300.
A title for gameplay hours that insinuates the player plays too much time and may have no life because of it should be no less than 10000 hours. Specially since you can just leave your character alone logged in for extented periods of time in some unpopulated area with something like a drinking bird toy pressing a key or something.
Firstly you seriously need to get a life…lol Thats almost 9 hours a day ! !
Second, isnt your suggestion… technically botting ! ? lol

Advertising works, Its a known fact.
As far as gaming goes, I can still clearly remember WoWs ‘Wrath of the Lich King’ adverts, ‘Cataclysm’ ads and who can forget MrT doing the WoW commercials !
Id love to see Anet investing in some serious advertising, speculate to accumulate guys !

Although I agree with the OPs comments, grats to Anet.
I do wonder why this thread has been allowed to stay open when the T&Cs state that the words Anet/Devs/Moderators cannot be used in the title for any topic?
Surely (according to the rules) this thread should have been closed ???

Why does that scream to me of the Days back in Dalaran where elitist tossers would stand around shouting LFM then demand you show them your gear or else you couldnt join their group ! ! !
Nah.. been there, done that, It caused too much bad feeling ! ! !

I propose that players who reach/achieve 1000 hours game time (/age) should get a special title ! something like…
‘Sad git’ or ‘No Lifer’
;)
And before all you nerds/hardcore freaks and addicts start to flame, Im almost at 1000 hours myself so this is as much at me as you guys )
Seriously tho… a title would be nice. ‘Veteran’ ‘Fanboy’ or something like, to show our dedication !

The ability to have/use the commander function should also need the player to have completed 1000 hours game time. At least then you have a better chance of getting somebody with experience, not just some spoilt brat with daddies credit card !

The game itself is in a good state, there are issues however..
Not enough lower lvl areas populated, Dynamic events not really dynamic, lack of fluff quests. These however are all things that can be put right in time. As long as Anet keep trying to fix issues at the same rate (or faster) than they are adding stuff the game can only get stronger and better
:)
Money can’t buy happiness, But it allows you to search in more places to find it !
I never had a problem with ascended gear, I did however have a problem with the way it was obtained and the way that was implemented.
However, Anet have promised that the next patch will resolve this issue, so in the interest of being fair Im gonna wait and hopefully the new way will be much fairer !
:)

Well IMO Id have to say the spawn rate is fine, in fact in some areas it needs to be made faster. Its so nice to have a game that offers some challenge and doesnt bend over every time a carebear sheds tears !
More mobs, more challenge plz

Forum moderators should have a way of being recognisable !
Now Im not saying we need there names etc. After all Moderator.Dave. UK would be a bit much…lol
But something simple like ‘Moderator32’, at least then if any players do wish to make a formal complaint we could more easily point out who and why.
Thanks

Hi everyone,
I see people complain a lot about how “heavy handed” the moderation of these forums is. All we can say is that “moderation happens for a reason”. Of course, no one is happy when infracted. I really believe that no one or almost no one posts with the intention of being infracted yet it happens, because some way or another that post or thread was against the forum CoC. Errors happen, that is for sure. The moderator team is, after all, a human crew – despite the belief that we are some kind of cruel automatic machine that infracts at will.
It is also said that we close complain threads and only leave positive threads open and answer in those. Allow me to tell you, that is false. The crude truth is that complain threads usually are not properly composed (meaning, non-constructive, bad words, attacks (You name it). We understand the frustration behind those posts, but that doesn’t mean we can leave them be. A complain thread can show frustration, but it also can be well composed with evidence, with data, with something we can forward to the team rather than “OMG Anet you sux game bugged” (dramatization, please don’t be offended). And anyway, and unluckily, those threads tend to derail very fast.
Let’s put an example, Halloween had some very serious disconnection problems – amongst others. Those of us who were on shift and had to deal with them tried our best to gather all complains under one thread, keeping those posts that were worth it and removing those that werent. Another closer case, yesterday we had a disconnection problem that fixed fast. Again we tried to gather all related posts in a thread while cleaning those who didn’t really add much. As said above, we can sometimes be wrong, and we are sorry. That is why we forward you to a direction, so you can write an appeal.
To sum up, we have to live by the CoC code – which let me remind you, you can find in the main page – does this mean we enjoy bashing on the players? Not at all, but if we happened to not be strict, this would become the Wild West. We enjoy constructive discussion; we even encourage constructive discussion, but understand that some requirements are in order.
Thanks for your understanding.
I could go to my PM list and point out 3 things there you have said which I can show to be false ! But frankly whats the point, Id just get infracted for the fact you have been inaccurate ! ! !
Money can’t buy happiness, But it allows you to search in more places to find it !
It is nice to see them posting but they aren’t not really saying much. Most of what they are saying is that the precursor scavenger hunt won’t be added in soon. They not addressing any concerns or informing us of what they will add.
Yes, but its a start. Hopefully we’ll see more posts, from other Devs too. Be nice to see some from the ordinary guys, not just team leaders etc

Anet doesnt have to bring the trinity back, BUT…
There is no reason why they could not add a full-on healer build to certain classes, say Elementalist, Guardian, Engineer. This would not make the game reliant on a trinity , it would however give those who like to heal (rather than damage) a chance to enjoy the game also.
As for those idiotic comments like go play another MMO, why should people have to go play another game. GW2 is the best MMO out (at this time) but this games lack of 1 simple feature, the ability to heal, has alienated a lot of players !
:/

No one runs CoF? Are you joking? Its the quickest dungeon to run (paths 1+2) and there’s always a party going. Use GW2LFG and youll get a party in no time. Oh, and for the record I have never…yes NEVER….spent more than ive made from any dungeon because youre still earning tokens providing you complete.
Maybe its your server but I have to agree with this guys, certainly on my served (Desolation) CoF is by far the most popular dungeon. As for the spend factor, even if Ive joined with a poor group and we’ve had a couple of wipes, dont think Ive ever come away and not made at least 3 times more than Ive spent (plus tokens, karma)

Dont get me wrong, like many others Im eagerly awaiting the big January press release for upcoming features.
But when 70%+ of news is actually promotions, or ways of asking us to spend our cash I find that a bit too much.
I dont tune in to the BBC news in a morning and expect Bill Turnbull to start selling me nappies or a pint of milk…lol

Why do we not have a more severe weather animation in-game?
For those who have played human characters will know that the opening area has a fantastic rain storm, complete with thunder and lightening.
Yet.. at no other time playing the game (and im almost at 1000 hours) have I seen this again !
why, why, why not guys. It looks and sounds great !
Please add this weather animation into the game during other times and in other areas !

I ask this in all honesty, are Anet overly cash orientated?
As usual evryday I log into the forums and spend ten minutes or so browsing the discussion and suggestions in the hopes of finding something informative.
However, lately Ive noticed when logging in that more and more the news seems nothing more than a barrage of ways in which Anet are trying to rip the hard earned cash from our hands.
Dont believe me? click on the GW2 logo and go back to the main page 5 out of the 8 news items are not ‘news’ at all… they are Anet promotions for the TP !
Please guys, this is a great game, but enough is enough already. Lets make the news actually news ! !
/sigh

Official forums are normally a good thing. However these forums do not fall under that !
Forums are a place where players should be able to voice their concerns without fear of reprisal. Im not saying racism, sexism or bullying should be allowed, hell anything like that should be severely stamped on. BUT people should be able to freely express their views, opinions and ideas regarding the game.
This particular ‘official forum’ does nothing to help the player in this respect

I don’t really understand anything beyond the inital question. Perhaps you could clarify the point you’re trying to make.
As for revealing clothes, I personally dislike them since the female version is generally sexualized in some way, whereas the male version may show skin, but hardly ever makes the character look like a stripper.
You’ve obviously never seen my character running round Ascalon in just his pants then…lol
Now.. where did I put my cowboy hat ?

One of our goals for 2013 will be evaluating all of the bosses and creatures in the game, from open world to dungeons, to try and make them more exciting and fun to fight against.
In general if anything has a really high health pool, it needs to have unique abilities to make it exciting for the entire time, or actually change abilities/tactics as it goes down in health to ensure it stays fun and exciting to fight against.
We realize there are a number of bosses in the game, from the open world to instances that all can be more fun to fight than they are now. We’ll be tackling that this year in part of our goal to make our core game as strong as possible.
IMO possible the best bit of news Ive heard since GW2 launch !
Now I just hope Anet live up to this statement and not let it slip like so many other promises they have made
;)
