Couldnt disagree more, poeple are fast to complain if/when they get killed. I say learn your class in more depth, OR be more shrewd when it comes to picking your fights.
Of course you are going to get killed if you rush into an area full of mobs and you are solo. Oh hang on wait.. no you want them to make the game easier because you are either impatient or foolish… not gonna happen !
The respawn rate is fine (IMO a little too slow) but this is designed to make a player think about there actions. Like the downscalling, its not designed to let you go around slaughtering mobs without fear of dying. Or here’s a novel suggestion…
Go with a friend, this is an MMO, hence its better to play/share things with guildies or even better to make new friends as you explore areas !
Seriously guys, if you ‘are’ really struggling so badly then maybe you should think about another game ! ?

Its possibly Desolation ! Server pop is always high-full, never a shortage of people running DEs, Dungeons, Fractals. Always a good amount of chat in world chat, lots of people announcing when events happen !
Transfer over, we’d love to have you here

Not to mention that some of these volunteer player mods might ban or infract any posts here on the suggestions forum that do not fall in line with their own personal view on how the game should evolve. For instance, pro-mounts mods deleting any posts against the idea of mounts (and vice versa) and so forth. I’ve seen this happen on once-popular The Sims forums where paysite owners and paysite sympathisers banned anti-paysite members for posting an opinion.
Who would end up moderating these volunteer moderators?
And what would be the point of that? Firstly I already said they would have to confirm to a ‘code of conduct’ secondly, thats hardly a unbiased point of view for a moderator.
All I can suggest is go look round some other game forums, those that have these, work well in conjunction with the normal moderators and it brings a nice balance to the game !

For me answering this was easy.
I miss the massive amount of skills we used to be able to choose from. For me, that made it feel like my characters were unique to me. I chose the skills I wanted and wasnt forced into a predefined template.
If I could have anything grom GW1 brought to GW2 it would be that

How about having a team of volunteer player based moderators ?
There have been many issues/concerns made now about the power mongering attitude of some moderators. So.. other forums have a number of player based moderators. Maybe we could get the same here.
Now Im not suggesting these Moderators have the full function of the full time guys, nor should they have access to the info that actual moderators get. However they should be able to comment, help and maybe intervene where it is required !
If there are any issues the full time Mods have missed or miss-understood, these player mods could bring the topic in question to their attention or direct it to the attention of the correct person.
Obviously a form of NDA would be required as well as agreeing to to a Code of Conduct. But this could help eleviate some of the bad feeling between player and current moderator team !
???

I would want to see a return of a function that has been removed. Im referring to the view gear function. Was a time when I could play any of my character (6 now) and preview a piece of gear to see if I like it. Now if Im not playing the class for that gear I cannot see what It looks like ! !
Just because I cant use something, doesnt mean I shouldt be able to viwe it. Frankly If I cant view it.. I aint gonna buy it

As a player, I really don’t feel that I’m priority at all. That, definitely needs to change this year.
This sums up how a lot of the playerbase feel. Anet are managing to alienate their customers and make us feel unappreciated !

Loved the events, loved them.
BUT… same as with the halloween event, visuals looked cheap. I mean geez they couldnt even do the whole of Lions Arch with snow ! ?
And as soon as you left LA, well it was as if Wintersday didnt even exist. It completely spoilt the asthetic emersion

Funny how after reading the above posts a theme stands out. This game is too EASY ! Ive said this right from pre-launch. Make a game to easy, too predictable and people have no sense of achievement and soon lose interest !
Ive made a couple of posts with suggestions for dynamic events, multiple path events. Most of the coding for such things is already in the game. Anet just need to re-arrange things a little and they would feel so much better.

Well Tixx has come and gone, now we wait with baited breath for the next seasonal/world event.
BUT.. is there any chance you could make them a bit more visually dramatic. The actually visual asthetics for the two events so far Halloween, Wintersday have looked (to be honest) a little cheap ! Its almost as if you guys didnt want to spend any more time or effort on the visuals.
If you look at games like WoW and Rift their seasonal events were very dramatic and not just confined to small areas.
The events themselves were great, I just wished there had been a better sense of emersion. The only time it truly felt like wintersday was when I was in Lions Arch. However I’m sure, like myself, most players do not spend all ther gaming time standing in LA.
’Id bet a fair wager that your designers and concept artists had BIG plans for the witersday visuals, plz Anet let them go mad and spoil us !

Prior to release Guild Halls was promised as one of the up-coming things we could look forward to in GW2. However (like a number of things, player houseing for eg) Anet has gone quiet on this issue and have not kept the players imformed.
As a GW1 veteran, this was one of the things I looked forward too and helped me decide to bring many of my GW1 mates across with me.
We’ve already lost some long term players because things arent what they wanted (or were promised) BUT hopefully Anet will turn things around !

Raids aren’t good for this game for several reasons:
A. It promotes class composition, forcing friends and guilds to abandon certain people because they weren’t a guardian, for example.
B. The graphics of the game is higher than the normal standard and with the amount of combat there is in the game with having to dodge and everything, would be a FPS nigmare.
C. This game is intended to be a bridge between casual and hardcore. I am a casual myself for example, playing about 2 hours a day. When you implement raids, they generally take HOURS to complete. Not only that, you have to schedule several players and HOPE they show up on time.
D. It indirectly destroy small guilds, because no one will even attempt to wait out until the guild gets slightly larger before raiding. Currently, small guilds like mine can progress. My guild for example has 8 members and we are at LvL 20 FOTM.
Not to mention the 5 man content is difficult in itself, I don’t see a reason what makes a difference.
What a load of rubbish. The fact that this game has no trinity means that raids would be easier to implement/organise as there would be no reason to accept/decline one class over another !

The answer is much simpler…
Make it so you cannot run explore mode until you have completed story mode. this will make it so far more people are running the story modes, hence making more groups available !
Simples !

Now dont get me wrong, Im a massive fan of mounts (cosmetic only) and think they should be in GW2.
However, realism for mounts ! So you want to feed them? may I remind you that what goes in, must come out !
Hence, I did not buy this game to spend 30 mins per day cleaning up dolyak poo ! ! ! !

This is an inspiration. Whoever at Anet thought of this deserves a payrise.
For the love of god incoprorate this into an everyday PvP mode (not just seasonal) and make many, many players very happy !
(Just get rid of the stupid ‘lobby’ type game entry tho.)
Finally you guys got something just right, well done Anet, well done !

God yes, we so need something like this in sPvP. Ive been a PvP player for years but tbh have been so dissapointed with GW2 PvP (especially the stupid lobby type entry) I refused to play it.
If this is a sign of things to come Im def going to start PvP again

The digital deluxe version is a bunch of one time use only items plus a summon skill with a useless pet. It’s not THAT good.
Oh I agree. But its not the items, its the principal Im questioning. Player A should not be treated any better (or worse) than player B.
We already have enough of that attitude from most big companies, After all Anets promises I guess I just expected more from them.
Money can’t buy happiness, But it allows you to search in more places to find it !
So people buying GW2 are getting a free upgrade to digital deluxe edition. So to all the thousands of us who brought this game from the start, we can basically go without ! ?

1. “Build Wars”. Countless combinations out of hundrets of skills. that was the best thing about GW1. Even after 6 years you could still do something “new” and try different builds.
Is this in GW2? Not really. There are 4-5 Builds/Class that are worth to be played and it starts to feel repetitive very soon.
This is probably the main thing I wished they had carried over from GW1 into GW2. The many options of skills allowed you (the player) to create a character that felt very unique and personal
2. Fast and easy character preogression. It was so great that becoming level 20 was really easy and fast. Also getting the best equip in game was super easy.
Is this in GW2? I don’t think so. Getting exotic gear simply takes to long. Not even mentioning ascended gear which seems to be a hell of a grind.
Thank god they didnt carry this over. Too many companies have let lazy players dictate that they want more, easier, faster. AND the ONLY thing this has achieved is removing the longevity of that game. Anet have made a lot of mistakes, but this isnt one. The effort / long term commitment needed to level/gear your character only serves to make you appreciate your efforts. WD to Anet on this one !
3. Skill-descriptions. They were absolutly perfect in GW1. I have never played another MMO with such good skill-tooltips.
Is this in GW2? Sadly not. Both traits and skills are poorly described. They tell you what they do but don’t tell you the exact numbers. Thats sad.
Skills I found to be fine. Traits… yeah have to agree. Seemed a little vague at times, could do with re-wording !

Simple request for guild calendar so events, dungeons, WvW can be organised in-game.
Guild leader to assign ranks that can create / view calendar events.
Not all guilds like to use forums (even tho we have no other option) it would be so much easier to have this type of function in-game. After all we want to spend our time playing, not mucking about on non-game forums.

Just something simple as 4 size stages (same model just a physical size difference) and naming would do…
Baby – stage 1 (tamed – 20 hours play time)
Juvenile – stage 2 (20 – 40 hours)
Adult – stage 3 (40 – 60 hours)
Elder – stage 4 (60+ hours)
Doesnt have to have any stat changes per stage, but would show which players have taken the time to raise their captured pets.

Not so sure about the skin and eyes, after all its kinda like saying you can change the colour you were born.

Couldnt agree more, the current moderators seem to be either egotistical or frankly kinda dumb. (oops infraction incoming…lol)
Ive had a post deleted in which I commented about emails being sent out to promote events after they had occured ! I said this was really too little too late and it would be nice to get emails that sparked a players interest ahead of time !
For this I got a deleted thread and an infraction. they said I was rude and demanding?Funny how they didnt mention my compliments on the game, its graphics etc.
Moderators should be just as accountable for their actions as players or indeed Devs. After all isnt it our goal to work together to make GW2 all it can be !

Lets have it ! ! !

Yep all those empty cities just reminds me of WoW. For those who remember think back to when everybody and his dog lived in Dalaran, or after Cataclysm when it was Stormwind.
Many MMO companies seem to forget that their players choose races because they love/like that race. They dont want then to be forced into spending all there time in another city just because Anet are too lazy to introduce all the good stuff into each city !

Why should anybody be guaranteed a special/rare prize ! ?
Anet have always said the BLTC is not a pay-to-win aspect of the game. Mind you there other things they haven’t been honest about too, so lets not take that at face value. However, just because somebody is in a position to (or willing to) spend large amounts of real life money it does not give them the right to gain more than those who cannot ! ! !

Your lyrics are a little wrong,
To those who sang them out in song,
I must admit as to your plea,
Tis something which I must agree.

Have greater choice of them we should,
We’ll get those hats on that I’ll bet,
If we keep pleading to Arena net !

Some events are actually like that, where winning and losing fire off different events. It’s more apparent in the high level areas, low level areas are more introductory so making them too hard or having harsh consequences for failure might be off putting to new players.
True, I was only using the low level event as chances are more players will have seen it. Its only due to the fact Im now starting an alt (leveled my main to 80 and completed one storyline) that on doing some of the same areas again and nothing has changed.

The dynamic events (in theory) in game are great, and for the first 1-2 times you do them thay are fun and interesting.
However there is little dynamic about them.
(example, slight spoiler)
In the human low level area there is a mission to ‘escort Guard Bartol to collect some weapons’. Great lets go, follow him, kill a few Centaurs, he gets the weapons, YAH for our team !
But wait, what if you fail? well dont bother he doesnt, even with only a solo players helping him he gets the weps. And then its just a matter of hanging around until the next time somebody decides to help him ! BORING !
Suggested changes…
You succeed -
Bartol gets the weapons – The Centaurs are so angry they launch a counter strike at the fort to attempt to get them back. A timed event where a set number of Centaurs ‘must’ be killed in specific time !(dynamic yes)
You fail-
(firstly you’d need to make the event losable)
This triggers a timed event where you have to launch an attack on the Centaur post to rescue Bartol (say 5 mins)
Resulting effects-
Bartol got weapons, you defeat Centaur attack – Increased numbers of Centaurs until next event starts.
Bartol got weapons, you failed Centaur attack – Event resets as normal.
Bartol failed to get weapons, you rescue him – Increased numbers of Centaurs until next event starts.
Bartol failed to get weapons, failed rescue – Event resets as normal.
*
There are dozens of such events like this that could have been made so much better with very little effort. Most of the events in what I have described exist already. You just needed to put them in a more dynamic chain, with an actual consequense depending on a specific outcome !
Little changes like this would indeed make the events truely dynamic and would have a visual impact on what the player experiences in that zone at any given time ! ! !
:)
Money can’t buy happiness, But it allows you to search in more places to find it !
This has been suggested a lot and I am agreeing too. Basically make the events more harder.
Although I totally agree with you (personally I think the whole PvE game is too easy) The difficulty isnt the main issue. Events actualy need to become dynamic.
Each event needs to be part of a branching chain, and have an outcome that is based on this !

(And for those that aren’t familier there were over a 1000 skills to choose from !)
Ok well maybe not that many, but I think we should have a number of choices per button. So buttons 1-5 each have 4 attacks/skills to choose from and the player can pick the one he/she feels is most in tune with their persona !
