That to unregulated server transfers people transferred to the top tiers.
Thanks to that and the bad matching algorithm, the same servers ended up fighting each over and over and over again.
The new algorithm kindda helped, but players had already stacked in the higher tiers.
Now with the swiss style matchup, of course these highly populated server are going to end up fighting against the low populated servers!
Players wanted rewards, only way to do that was to join the server which was guaranteed to win which as usual are BG on NA and SFR on EU.
We’ve been complaining to the devs for 2 years now, coverage is NOT skill!
WvW is all about coverage and numbers, nothing more.
So if you ask me matchups are are joke EVERY week, until anet decide to do something about this.
The community has a tonne of great ideas, these have also been acknowledged by the devs. However, saying these are great and actually going into development are two wholly different things!
There are no major changes planned for WvW any time in the near future.
That said there are also no minor changes planned either :P
Wow a post talking about a problem player have been complaining about for 2 years! I almost died! Or is it April?!
Well it’s a pretty complex thing to fix really. We cant report them, we cant kick them, so what can we do?
Well you could add a reporting option for siege trolling in the report options (also for hackers!). If a player receives too many reports, they are kicked from WvW for 1 hour. But then what happens in busy servers?
I have heard of guild reporting players from others guilds for selling gold, when they werent, but those who were falsely reported, some of them ended up banned from the game and had to contact support.
So when there’s a big queue, this reporting function will be abused by some guilds to help reduce queue times, or kick members from other guilds they dont like; just because you’re in the same server doesnt mean you are all friends.
But truly, the only way you are going to get through such issues is to have dedicated GMs who can be contacted ingame and who can then go to the player in question and see for themselves.
Though seeing as we’ve not seen fixes for so many other issues, I have very little hope a fix will be made for this either.

WvW desperately needs new content, QoL updates are not real content. Just single new map to replace the BLs will be enough to refresh the current stale state of WvW for several months!
I dont think Anet management realise that the cost of putting resources into develpoing one WvW BL map will do more to help players stay in the game than an entire season or two of Living story!
I think this season is to keep people in GW2 rather than have a look at Archeage, which is completely free to play and is being released in 2 hours time!
But seeing as you dont even have to buy the game, I might go an see if I can download it tonight and, if the queues arent too bad, see how it’s like.
But why 4 weeks? Perhaps WvW may finally get a real content update after this season?! No, I doubt it as well :/

It’s simple, it’ll add new maps real fast (if a dev really is working on WvW), and after 8 months or so you should have 3 new maps, and you then take one segment from each to create a map where the 3 segments are all different.
Doing the same thing I’ve been doing for 2 years and nothing much has changed, it is getting a little old now, it needs something to spice it up again, say a new BL map maybe :P
I prefer the splitting up each day into 3 segments, have 3 8 hour battles each day.
This way you can see exactly which timeslots servers have nighcappings in, What is the point of being great during primetime for your server, when when you all go to bed the other server’s night team dominate with little to no resistance.
A server which has better skills during the first two 8 hour shifts, may end up losing everything in the 3rd shift. In the current system this may be enough to allow the less skilled server which nightcaps to beat the serer which actually is better skilled.
Again, dont expect any changes until 2020.

Yeah, WvW is messed up and there is nothing we can do about it.
Everything about it says having greater numbers and more coverage is the way to go.
Only way to change that is if dev change it, but since April all we’ve got is Golem mastery and anti-siege grenade.
So yeah, told hold your breath for anet to change things in WvW anytime this decade!

Yup one person is able to ruin the game for dozens, if not a few hundred when you count all players over all BLs, fun! And yet they do not consider it a breach of this rule!
This one person could do more damage to the game than a gold seller, yet they are allowed to carry on under the statement from a mod who said they cannot control how people play the game.

Megaserver – as servers are no longer server specific, this can cause issues on who can claim a zone, and will a member who claimed ever get back to that zone if they zone out? Alliances may help a little with this issue.
Needs some devs to work on it and figure out how to balance things and how guilds must do things in order to claim a zone etc etc

They been posting a little, but what they post is of little or no consequence, it’s just talk.
This is China’s first WvW tournament, and people are saying that they love WvW there as well. So here’s hoping Anet management see this and FINALLY decide to actually spend real resources on WvW, not getting 2 devs to make two really simple additions in a week and calling them features which took 6 months!
As usual in an effort to make WvW players not feel left out of the “feature” pack, the dev had to make something for WvW. It was obviously a rushed thing and the consequences of it havent even been thought through.
As someone else has said in another thread, once a grenade has been used on a siege, it should have a buff which either prevents it from being affected again, or as the person suggested, the grenade increases the cooldowns of skills so it takes longer to bring down a gate. Complete disablement which can be spammed over and over again is just a broken mechanic.
So you are saying you cant complete the jumping puzzle cos of enemies?
Why not make it a solo instance, that way everyone can do the JP without any hassle from anybody :P
There are a lot of ways to get past people in this JP, if you cannot do it then you simply are not a good player. Try running with a friend, maybe that way you can kill those who are killing you instead.

If you invade an enemy borderland and outnumber the enemy you’re hit with a 50% movement debuff called “Intimidated” or “Laziness”
I do believe a dev did say they were working on something similar to this, that if there are more than a given number of players in an area, all players will received a debuff.
The fact that they acknowledged this and said they are working on it, expect it to go live in a year or two :/

Those not sure how the megaserver bit will work, perhaps make separate single server with a higher capacity? But then will that affect culling again and bring more lag?
But the idea of having a separate Tyria world map dedicated to WvW, and servers being assigned their corresponding zones could work.
You have to protect your zone, can invade others, and for GvG you have to run through one or several enemy zones to actually get to a guild you want to fight.
But, the big issue here is that the Tyria map was designed for PvE, not PvP and as such different zones will have different balances. So even if this was considered the time spent balancing would be better spent on new WvW maps, cough cough, I mean Living Story :P

they are only interested in doing small changes, because as we’ve seen there is no WvW team, so they can only do small things like coloured tags, which take a day to code, but 2 years to release!
One thing every one wants is new BL maps.
Last year Devon or another mod/dev claimed it takes 6 months to design and test a map.
So a year later I’ve been asking, Where is our new map?
Finally a mod said it doesnt take 6 months, it takes far far longer!

WvW desperately needs something new. New maps will do a lot to refresh it, even if it is bugged (cos its not like the current ones are free from bugs and glitches!)
I have even suggested create a map for one side of a server, copy and pate it, rotate 120 degrees, paste again and rotate another 120 degrees. Now add bridges and other ways to get from one to the other. Map development time cut by 66%!! So even if it takes a year to make one WvW BL map, this can cut it down to 4 months!

I am sorry to tell you this but it doesnt matter if any of our ideas are out of the box or in the box, the devs simply will not work on them! In a recent interview, Devon actually states that they are not currently working on anything for WvW, maybe just minor fixes.
And if they do, it will be a year or more for them to do it, and it’ll be the simplest thing they can do!
We asked for coloured tags at launch! It’s taken 2 years!

It is a legitimate concern really.
WvW is supposed to be a 24/7 battle, but when anet split apart NA and EU they helped to prevent that. It is 24/7 but it isnt global for most servers expect the T1 servers.
You have people moving to top tier servers, and players ended up queued, in some cases for hours!
There is simply no balance!
I have mentioned it so many times, anet can easily solve this issue by monitoring activity and offer transfers to players who can fill an inactive slot on a server.
They are already going to do this with the megaserver coming in this patch, players will be asked to move to a more populated zone when spaced become available, so that players dont end up alone in a zone.
Anet can do this if they want, and make all fights almost equal and fully active 24/7. But they dont/wont. WvW is not a priority to them, which is just insanity as WvW is pretty much the only thing to do after completing PvE.
Apparently in T1 servers there are no longer hour long queues on reset kitten many players have left the game already.

In April all we got was Account bound WXP
And in this September’s one we are getting Golem matery and anti-siege grenades.
If these are classed as features by Anet then all is doomed!
Expect it in the next “feature” pack in April 2015 :P

All I can say is that I much preferred GW1 than GW2.
In GW1 I either played alone, in pug groups or temp small guilds. I played for almost 4 years.
In GW2 I am in a large guild, and that is all that has kept me in WvW, after 2 I am considering giving up on this game.
So if you ask me Anet has not stuck to its guns when compared to GW1.
It hasnt listened to it’s community, but instead punished it.

We should not do it silently, but combined with (non ANet) forum protests. Press Infos, YouTube videos, twitter, Facebook, etc.
The next season would be a good opportunity to do so. But I guess instead of a combined effort to save WvW, the slow dying will just continue.
Tried to get people to join in, they’ve either already left the game or are happy to ignore the problems, or even refuse to do anything about it. I went to gw2wvw.net and they basically said if I tried to organise anything there they would ban me from there; learning from the best there as well I see :P
I think they too are in denial, try to keep problems quite and hopefully more people will come to the game, spend money on gems which will hopefully improve the game in the future. Sorry but 2 years and we’ve got scraps nothing more, no-one should be helping anet to silence to issues, we should all be noe highlighting, putting a spot light and shouting from the tops of hills about the problems. Perhaps with all the bad publicity we could make, anet management will finally understand there is more to GW2 than PvE, and there are serious issues which need immediate attention!
But I dont see any of the above happening any time soon, not even in the next year!
Not only that, even if we did produce youtube videos to show the bad stuff about the game, you know anet will contact google to have the stuff removed using copyright as an excuse! They have already stooped so low that I wouldnt put it past them doing such things!

I think the above shows how badly the loot droprate are, they give no consideration to the effort you put in or tactics or skills etc.
It’s all about RNG, we’ve known this since the first trial accounts were available. A new player comes into the game, plays for a few hours and gets a precusor; a player who’s been playing since launch, 4+ hours a day everyday, and they hadnt even received an exotic then! let alone a precusor.
Ah GW2, where the playerbase know the state of the game better than the devs and management do!
So, just double checking to make sure I’ve understood right….
A decision on a change like this can be taken via email, and the change itself can be implemented by 2 people working a weekend.
So how does that sit with what we’ve been told about how “time-consuming” and “complex” other minor changes are, and how they can’t be worked on because they’d take an entire development team weeks or months, which could be better spent elsewhere?
You can’t have it both ways.
Either changes like this take weeks to push through all the coding, testing and bureaucracy, in which case the sudden about-turn on the price is suspect. Or, these things can actually be done within a few days in response to community feedback, and the only reason we haven’t had this done in other areas is due to either dis-interest or pure bloody-minded stubbornness.
So which is it?

It is really sad to see how anet promotes all those CDI’s which many see only as a PR stunt and damage control for the upcoming feature patch where all those feedback topics like lets say… commander changes? are being ignored.
I would like to congratulate anet for literally pushing every 10 or 13 year old (figure of speech, nothing personal kids) to buying the commander tag since now they will also get all those fancy colours for 1/3 the price!
And I’d like to remind everyone that this is not about “Hey what can we do to turn the tags off in options?” Its about what to do so only the people that actually do SOMETHING with those tags to have them.
Yes but dont forget that it is in WvW that the commander tag “gets a lot of the most support”.
Also the devs dont believe commander tags should be based on your character, but based on you, the commander. I mean that totally explains why since beta and for the last 2 years they have kept it character based, forcing commanders to buy a tag for each character.
As for the delayed CDI, if the devs thought players were gonna be hostile due to the delayed S2 rewards, how do they think players will be like after this featureless pack?! Alot of people are gonn abe unhappy, as well as asking why the above changes could be done in 2 days, as well as the fact that this quick turn-around from 300g for each colour to the single purchase, all it shows is that they have no idea of what they are doing!

I’m really excited to see which servers end up with the most coverage and players.
It’s hard to tell right now, everyone’s looking at each other wondering right now. You can feel the anticipation as players hover their cursors over the gem purchase tab.
Once the announcements are made by the big WvW guilds it’ll be a scramble to get to the servers they are moving to. I cant tell you how excited I am to see that!
Based on the previous tournament, let’s hope that the lower tiers can learn from server X that just because they are currently in bronze and put in the same amount of effort that allowed server X to dominate silver league! Man I was so excited seeing server X, the underdog of silver league, putting all that effort to push down veteran silver league WvW guilds.
I am so excited I cannot wait to see how this tournament plays out.
