It is simply an aditional mechanic that triggers at 0 hp. If it triggered at 10% or something the mechanic would be the same still.

This is exactly why it’s bad in wvw. It promotes the zerg as opposed to the roamer. Whoever has the higher number almost always wins. And currently in wvw, lopsided teams occur very often. It is not fun at all to solo roam because you’re always at a disadvantage.

I like that feature too. There is nothing wrong with it. If you downed someone, you have NOT killed him yet. So don’t be lazy and finish him off or be prepared he might come back.

Well… Like I said in this other thread I don’t think it’s to clean to be credible. I personally don’t see it so much as a difference between happy, light or whatever and darkness, tragedy but rather as a difference between something realistic and something rather artistic.

Skyrim for example had an awesome graphic but I personally found it rather boring. Even though it was including some fantasy-elements I always had the impression that this game was trying to mimic the real world at least the landscapes.

GW2 on the other hand at least from my point of view is not doing this. It is trying to create an artifical, artistic world on it’s own. It’s a fantasy world and I think it is not so much that the cities are to clean or not dark enough I think the question rather is, is this world credible. Does it work as a whole.

And I think you have dark “dark” places. Orr for example is depressing, dark, gloomy. And I think that it is that contrast between those beautifull cities and landscapes and Orr that is telling the story of what is at stake.

Erm, yeah well I have no idea if someone understands what I wanted to say.

Since we are discussing now some certain features I can as well give my comment.^^

I personally don’t think it’s to clean or somehow lifeless. If you look in Lions Arch those buildings from old wrecked ships or in some divinities reach back yards, where you have pigs and chicken running around, grass growing and so on. I don’t think that the overall impression is to “clean” to be credible. Rata Sum on the other hand, well what do you expect from a city full of little “robots” and geniuses. ^^

I guess they just didn’t get told how dangerous it is. And if you think about it, there are some tourists at the other side of the island who are on hollidays for months now. That spot is always rainy, you can’t do anything but drinking and if you go like 50m outside your camp you get eaten by the wildlife. Tyrians seem to have different standards of what is a nice vacation. xD

Are there others here who also very much appreciate having Transmutation Stones (or in broader terms, this type of feature in general)? Is this a common feature among MMO’s nowadays or is GW2 still one of the few that has it?

I’m sorry to say but this way is from my experiences an rather inconvenient way. It still binds one certain skin to some certain stats. If you have more than one skin you would like to use you either have to get another set with fitting stats (and to transmute it) or to use the old item as it is. Or the other way round if you have different sets with different stats you have to get the same skin several times. There are some games with wardrobe systems which lay the skins over your armor which work way better imo.

But yes it’s a nice to have.

I personally don’t find it that annoying. It’s tough, but when I happen to die… so what. Atm you have mostly several people around to do the stronger mobs, so it’s not that I have to solo them and in case you go down there is usually someone to get you up. And when I think something is to strong for me alone I try to sneak past it. For me it’s pretty ok.

Man us “poor” background players will get shafted if you start giving extra conversation options to Faren and the like. My only friend got brutally murdered at the beginning of the game. The sad thing is I played the “noble” background on my first few characters and liked it a lot more, but on what ended up being my main I went for the “poor” background just to see what it was like.

Companies exist to make money is making you sick? What can’t you grasp with the fact that it is how every business works. Businesses are only in existence to make money in any way they see fit. Businesses that go into “business” without that goal are called non-profit organisations, or charity, and I can assure you NCSoft, ANet, whatever company you like to bring forward that backs or creates Guild wars would never go by that title.

That is simply because they are overall out to make a profit. Whether you think that’s acceptable or not is your choice but unfortunately for you it is the way of the world and there is no escaping it. Whether you like it or not, every single profitable business is only in it for the money. The workers for said company may be in it for the fun and do the best they can, hell, they might not even agree with the RNG themselves. But at the end of the day it is not down to every worker what goes in the gem store, and overall goes back to management who have got to their position by meeting goals – making money.

ANY company everywhere in the world has to make money but does that mean it is acceptable to disguise a price for an item? I have no Problem EVER if an item has a higher price than I can afford. Bad luck. But not to give the real price of an item by hiding it behind RNG is just hoping that I’m dumb enough to fall for it.

Well, let me put it this way. If a company thinks that it does not have to treat me in a fair and proper way by giving me a clear price for an item, they are not very interested in my money, so they wont get it from me.

I personally would prefer a new area of the game that needs Agony Resist (that is already in the game and has multiple ways of obtaining), than a new area of the game that requires level 90 or 100 and makes all current armor obsolete. And if they did this I could see them bringing in new items that have Infusion Slots ergo the backpack.

You can get 6 ascended items for your character right now. This is almost the equivalent to another piece of gear.

That gap will get larger when weapons and armor are released. If you factor in the +4 stat infusion items that’s another +48 to a defensive or offensive stat.

This might not be important to casual gamers who don’t care about pretty much anything but; hardcore players do care. Hardcore players analyze; discuss builds and designs their characters to be at optimal efficiency.

Well I think I was stating my hatred towards this gear enough in the past. I finally decided for myself that I will not let this kind of gear change my gaming behaviour. So if agony resist will one day become a must have or if the stat-difference is taking me away from having my fun —well I guess my time will be over in this game.

That’s why I said “hopefully not”. I wouldn’t like to get shoved out that fast because I like it here.

I think there is a difference between “prestige” items and good looking items. A “prestige” item should look good but it’s main purpose is to show off a bit “look what I did” On the other hand that does not mean that every nice looking item has to be a prestige object which can be only obtained through incredibly hard content or endless grinding.

I for my part am happy as it is.

And I know you are playing devils advocate here. If they think it’s a nice way to make revenue let them do so, but they and you too should accept the down-side of that, that people get angry about their behaviour (and hopefully don’t buy).

So again you are saying disguising prices (nothing else is done here) is ok because it generates revenue and a customer has no right to complain because well a company has to make money no matter in which way? That they should not try to treat their customers fairly? That it does not matter which image a way to sell items create? That we should buy and shut up?

I can only tell you what that kind of businessmodel is doing to my buying behaviour. It is totaly putting me off from buying any gems. I really was right about to buy gems for those SAB-Minis when the colour-packs came out. Well no thanks. I still feel tempted to buy that shortbowskin from F&F but again I don’t feel like buying gems because if they think they can make more money of “gambling” instead of giving clear prices then they clearly don’t need my money, not even for the rest of the stuff they are selling.

Uhm, no idea I usually use Dulfy if I have no chance at all to do something. I used it only once for one of the Lost&Found items and unfortunately it didn’t even help me. (Nothing against Dulfy her guides are awesome) Usually I try to solve the things on my own. Edit: But…(to come back to the topic xD) I find it good that I have at least a starting point and do not have to discover the whole island before I know what’s going on. I found it confusing enough with all that different people starting to beat up each other. xD

It’s a bit confusing indeed but I think they made it this way so that people who go to the event for the first time are brought directely to the starting place.

Well, if it was for “rich” people only, they could just give those items an insanely high price. But as it comes they do not only want the money of those who can and want to spend an insane amount of money but also that of those who think they can win the lottery as well. That’s what I don’t like about those items.

I think it’s pretty ok to have a sample at the end. Ofc it may be a bit crowded in that place but this sample isn’t even needed to get the achievement. Everyone who loves jumpingpuzzles had plenty of time to do it alone before the event was up. So I think it’s pretty ok to give people a “hint” that there is a jumping-puzzle as well in that area by placing ome if the samples there. I also think when most people have done it less people will do it. We are talking about the first evening this event was up.

Like someone else said: wait some time until the novelty of this item wears off. My Asura is still wearing her wintersday back-pack and even though nearly everyone got this there are not that many people using it still. I think it will be the same with those two back-packs.

I have a question about the achievements you have to do for the backpacks. Can I only do them till 28th or can I still do them after that date (like the first parts of Frost & Flame)?

But we are talking from a players perspective. If a company (not only A-Net, any) is offering you a deal you think is pretty foul will you alway say. “oh that poor guys have to make revenue, I’ll gladly pay even if this deal is a rip off”?

I can very well understand what is behind form their perspective but that doesn’t mean that I have to agree with it at all from my consumers perspective and that I have to justify it because I like the game in general. Let’s say we wouldn’t like the game or they wouldn’t develop it any further. Would you still think it’s a proper sales-method?

For me personally the most boring combo is that seductive, female, human “vampire-like” necro. No offense to anyone playing a female human necro but that’s a combo I personally would never choose myself.

Edit: I’m not saying that one cannot make something interesting out of that combo female, human and necro.^^
