The old Lion’s Arch was the most imaginative and creative piece of video game architecture I have seen. Themed for a seafaring city, it being made of old ships hulls was a creative application of existing materials. While result was not always sound architecture, in that some of it would have been structurally unsafe, it did represent that video games can be a meaningful art form.
I know what you mean. I really loved the old LA. The way it is now is exactely the way I expected it to become and form my point of view it’s not the best one. Everything is so clean and perfect, it’s not a living city anymore but something that looks like thought out by cityplanners. It looks like a futuristic airport. But what do you expect from a city, built by an investment company (the Konsorium) from ready made pieces.
The old LA was Special it felt “real”. This one now is like any other gamecity, beautifull but replaceable.

sigh it’s time to say goodbye I guess.
Note: this is not ment as a criticisim to the desginers who did well.
Dear Lions Arch,
you were my most favourite place in any game ever. I loved you from the very moment I set my characters feet on your ground. You were so playful, such a vivid place, a playground for hopes and adventures. Your were my hometown, my toons life. I defended you with my toons life blood, I waited, I hoped. Now you ready for new adventures, but sigh you are not my city anymore. Grand, pompous, glittering but I wish you would have kept a bit more of your former soul.
I guess it’s time to say goodbye now.
A sad inhabitant
OOC: I really like the new design, but I would have loved if the designers had kept a bit more of the former playgroundfeeling. Dears Designers your design is great as always, but I’m missing a bit of that “anarchic” feeling.
Sry for bad english…
@ OP: I personally think your idea is great, but I think you should start such a list, when the expansion is launched. Btw I think it would be good if interested guilds would add if they play on EU or NA servers.
Also, that thing that the airship fires at him in the end? Lemon juice or whatever it is? I highly doubt that could have had any effect on him.
You haven’t seen “Evolution”… http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evolution_
When I started the game I made several characters with classes I liked and tried each for a short while. Of course you wont get to know all possibilities of your tested class but you might get an overview which one suits you for the beginning. The rest of my toons I leveled to 80 over time. Why should one limit him/herself to only one. I myself found mesmer somehow annoying, but that’s a matter of personal preference.
NO !!!
this topic of introducing gay characters is crazy, it’s a game not a dating service, perhaps you can advertise your wanting gay male in the LFG panel, “looking for Gays”…
isn’t this world screwed up enough.
Huh? We are talking about NPCs and ingame stories. That has nothing to do with dating no matter what sexual orientation.
So that there’s roughly even proportions. If it were along the the line of the in-game cycle, you’d have 14 noon sylvari for every 1 dusk or dawn. At 4% of the population a piece, the Nightmare Court (per an old interview) would outnumber the two groups put together, possibly almost two to one. Marginalizing what are supposed to be two of the race’s main factions to such a degree undermines the concept; the cycles are supposed to be a way to draw attention to various aspects of the sylvari character, not to banish half of them to obscure corners.
Only when you assume that Silvary awaken equally during each hour. It could be as well that more Silvary per hour awaken during dusk or dawn. What I rather wanted to say: I think the concept of the day -night cycle doesn’t fit into an concept which messures time in equal proportions. For me it’s rather a poetic description of the first impressions that a Silvary has when he/she awakens. I think a Silvary wouldn’t say “I awakened at 9:23am, so I’m a day born.” A Silvary would rather say something like “I awakened when the last dew drops were molten by the morning sun.” or something like that.
Why does the cycle need to be divided into 4 six hour parts. Why not let it follow the actual day-night cycle in game.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Day_and_night#Day.E2.80.93night_cycle
Wow, I never thought I would discuss the sexual habits of a fantasy race but anyway.
My guess is that Charr are way less likely to have dificulties with homosexuality than with romantic relationships.
They grow up as groups and live in warbands which they consider their family. So what counts is the group and not the relation between two individuals. And in a way the member of a warband love each other but not in such an exclusive way as humans do. I think a romance between two individuals on the other hand has quite a lot of potential to cause tension either within the group or between different groups.
Hm, tbh I personally don’t have problem with the “gay” part I got a problem with the “human” and the “romantic relationship” part. None of my characters is human, I just find them boring and the romantic thing doesnt sound really interesting for me storywise either. Maybe I’m just having an allergy to Logan and Jenna, no idea.

back to my main point, I wonder if you guys are thinking GW2 is not fun enough to subscribe. or does monetary system have nothing to do with fun?
I want your opinions cuz if people are playing GW2 not because it’s fun, but because it’s soso, but free(after purchased at first), it sounds a bit sad
For me it’s that I don’t want to be bound by a contract. Call it strange but I’m not much into longterm energy contracts or mobile contracts either. But that doesn’t mean I would play ANY game only because it subscription free.
Asura are essentially little humans.
We are not humans. -.- Write that down a thousand times progeny! :P
Joking aside, this topic was brought up quite often already. I personally am quite happy that there are not so many large gender differences.
Edit: I would rather like if there were really gender*neutral* clothes for asura in the cashshop and not half-fitting human male clothes.

With Lions Arch still in ruins Sea of Sorrow is a very sad read.
People refuse to buy outfits because they will look exactly like other players. Hmmmmmmm. So you either care so much about what other peoples idea of a good looking/themed character is that you don’t want to look the same OR you care about your own look and its needs to be original?
That dwayna back piece, that t3 norn/human, that legendary…. i could go on. Someone will always have the same look as you no matter how unique you think you are at designing.
I don’t think that’s necessarily true. Sure someone will have the same items and the more prestigeous or rare or Special they are considered the more of them will you see around, ironicly. But with mix and match you can create several “unique” styles. Of course it might be that there is someone out there who wears the same Combo but you wont look like “everyone” (for example those with T3 human and a legendary :p) That beeing said I don’t mind outfits simply because I don’t have only one single clothset for each char but several and so an outfit is another one on top of that.

Meh, I like emotes and I want to use them without having to fear that someone will report me because he/she thinks I use them to much. I’m not trying to annoy someone btw. but who defines what is “to much”. Some might feel offended by a single /dance. I would rather like to have the option to hide the emote text of my emotes in the chat window.
LA has the most weired building technique I’ve ever seen. Their workers hammer on one point and somethings else in an entirely different place gets rebuilt more or less. Seriously they work on the same bridge for months now and nothing happens. I know I know this is not really “rebuilding” something, but it’s more and more feeling like everyone including the developers has given up on this city.
Hm, we started WildStar but stopped it really soon. One of the main reasons was, that you have to pay a sub. It’s not so much the Money, it’s the thought “hmm do I really want to continue, is it worth to pay even when you wont have time for the next few months? What happens to your char? Why continue when you aren’t entirely convinced?” I would really love to try WildStar again, but that would mean having to pay the sub again, so hm no…
I think the biggest effect you see is that hardly anyone dies, well that was until the recent patch but at least no one too concerning or to make the story too gloomy i mean sure so and so died but it was obvious too a lot of people and not very ‘omg!’ and the people were careless anyway.
I don’t know but the story never really feels dark even the slightest i would even say some Disney films have way darker undertones than gw2.
I think someone dieing isn’t making a great story at all. Use this once and it can be quite emotional (Tybalt for example). Use it all the time and the effect wear off quite fast. It’s a boring trick to eliminate the characters you like again and again and again.
I think it wouldn’t feel that obvious if we weren’t told what’s gonna happen outride in the description of this Episode. Caithe would be weired sure but if we didn’t know the outcome in advance I think we wouldn’t be that suspicious.
It’s like a german comedian decribed that phenomenon like giving the film “The sixth sense” the title “The dead child psychcologist”.
I’m pretty sure Zojja is electively bald. It’s been a while since I’ve had access to character creation, but I think there isn’t an option for bald asura females. Nevertheless, asura are often bald, perhaps for the same reason black men tend to shave their heads: it doesn’t look bad, and managing the hair is hard.
There is. A friend of mine created his Asura as bald.

Well in literature or films or games several normaly criminal acts a depicted as romantic or adventurous. Think about the picture of pirates and compare it to some news about nowadays pirates. It’s robbery. Have you never seen films about bankrobbery? The cools guys with the incredible smart plan?
Also the view on war and violence in general is often highly romanticised in games or films. So I don’t think that thiefs have the same negative meaning in a roleplay context as they have in real life.

Just some thoughts and questions. First of all what did Scarlett promise the nightmare court, the inquest and all the other races for working together with her? I guess it wouldn’t be tempting for those groups if she only promised to wake a dragon and turn them into slaves. What if she promised them control over a Dragon? I guess there was something hinted on one of those letters you find on drytop. (Not that she promised that, more like we must be faster than those who seek control over the dragons.)
So what if – now that Scalett is dead and Mordemorth doesn’t seem very contollable – these groups seek the egg for their own reasons?
Aerin was not from the nightmare court he was a soundless or at least it was hinted that he was.
Wasn’t it Caithe that asked/mentioned that Eir was staring at the norn (Brahm her son). I inferred that Caithe didn’t know Brahm was her son. Which I thought odd. Would Caithe not know that?
I usually skim through the “lore”, since I could give a rat’s patootie…but I thought I saw some conversation like that.
Ya, I also thought that was really odd. First I was like ‘’Eir is looking at a male Norn? – Her son, Brahm perhaps Caithe?’’
Then she was like ‘’Ohh noo, she is staring at him at the flirting-looking way.’’
Like wtf? I didn’t really get that so I were looking around to find some special Male Norn that Eir might has been staring to..
Caithe, you’re really making yourself to look dumb. It was her son, godkitten it!!!I thought everyone knew that aswell, but seems like they don’t, lol. Atleast not in this case for Caithe. If you really are the real Caithe, of course…
Well Rytlock in Season 1 didn’t know either that Eir has a son. So it’s not entirely off that Caithe doesn’t know Braham.
Sounds logical, Owain was pretty keen on omlette too.
What do you mean with “general”? I don’t belong into that group.
How about a Charr mount for my Asura.
I proposed that some time back in the german forum when we were talking about backpacks. (The Charr wanted an Asura-Backpack) Charr get an asura-backpack and Asura a Charr-mount. Everyone benefits (well beside a few bookah).
I would love if mounts were implemented.
And again we can see why Asura are superior to other races. At best Bookah behave like progeny. Adventurous, hazardous, risk-seeking, careless and we the Asura have to take care they don’t stumble over their own legs and hurt their knee because THEN we get blamed and the Bookah behaves like an angry progeny who threatens to throw stones on your best Golem, tse….
Look Bookah in a way you are right. Not all of us are inquest we don’t force someone to take part in our work. If we give you the honor to volunteer our brilliant and ground-breaking experiments and something goes wrong it’s not our fault you can’t properly deduce your personal risk from our statistics. Take responsability for your own hazardous attitude and don’t throw it on us!
Edit: I mean your fairytales are full of brave men slaughtering innocent drakes for some princesses. If that goes wrong who do you blame then? The princess?
(edited by Pirlipat.2479)
That graveyard is for non-Norn who happen to have died in Hoelbrak though, I believe. I remember visiting there long ago after launch and all of the graves there belonged to humans and other races.
Yes and if you are a Norn you even get the Option to ask the NPC Ingun Grimsdottir wheter those people choose beeing burried over a pyre.
I have no idea why the testsubject is so offended. shrugs
- And i really, really, really want to see more high heeled shoes in the game, especially for Asura.
Asuran orthopedists say: NO .
That would be great from my perspective.^^
Hm, I wonder why Sonder exchanges candy-corn, zaitaffy and fortune scraps and no nougats, fangs and skulls? It would be great to get at least the upgraded version from those “normal” items somehow.
The only random things Zomorros gets from me are cheap colors. Starve that greedy demon. :P
For me it’s not the point about exclusive. They could give it another color or something, to keep the initial edition exclusive. For me it’s that I can’t even get the story behind.
It was already reported as a bug by several people. I got the same problem and a friend of mine has this problem with that “Zeremonial…” (no idea what the correct name of this set is).
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Outfits-randomly-revert-to-original-colors
It’s a fun thread right? So: The dreamer: turns everyone it hits into a member of your personal pink-quaggan-minion-army for five minutes.
The Moot: starts some 80ies music and forces everyone within 1200 to dance until they are exhausted.
Incinerator: melts your enemies armor and forces him to fight in underwear. :P
Grmpf, I tried several locations which were not indicated in the guides and I would continue to do so but without knowledge if the first three pages are a bug or not it seems completely pointless.
- My necromancer is an asura, I spent >40 minutes playing with the gliders so she would look sweet as a peach, she is pink, she has a Princess Wand scepter and she is a minion-master. Deal with it.
Hihi, my Necro is an asura dressed in green and orange and has the princess wand and the toy staff and is wearing the toymakers backpack from the first wintersday. =) On the other hand my Ele looks pretty necroish. I love it when my characters don’t fit in the clichés of their class.
I have five frogs in stored in my bank for nearly 2 years now. I simply couldn’t get myself to throw them away because when you drag it out of your inventory it will ask you “Are you sure you want to destroy …?”
I would already be happy if I could at least get the whole story.^^ And no Wiki or something is no real substitute.
Blabla, I try it out and if it works – fine if not – who cares. So much anger, it’s a fun-event….
Ghost makes unintelligible sounds for me, it is suggested to contact the Priory in LA. That woud have been Magister Tassi , who moved to Nolani Ruins since.
So I guess you used a “Candy-Powered Matter Meter” you still have from back in 2012? Or the game remembered you used it back then?
I haven’t used anything. I’ll check if I still have it somewhere.
Edit: I think I don’t have it anymore.
(edited by Pirlipat.2479)
I got it. Strange, I only had to talk to her and she gave me the first page.
If he goes south from the heart of lions Arch = the middle it could as well be that he only goes to the crafting stations in Fort Marriner. Maybe a watchwork mechanism?
Well, there are alot o rhetoric games going on in this forum. “I quit long ago” is only one of those. Another one is “blabla only a minority is posting on the forum” aka your opinion doesn’t matter everyone else is happy. Many of those sentences add nothing usefull to a discussion but it’s simply impossible to get rid off all those.
