Just want to throw in something. The dredge you interrogate say

Yeah, the flaming cow pies and their fast-talking friend from the city. Never again! Lying silver-tongued, snake-nosed trickster! Never again.

Ottilia is not from a city. She’s from Cragstead and it was never mentioned that she left it before she got captured by the dredge or that she came there just recently.

I think temporary content is ok, but the schedule is pretty strange. Two months where nearly nothing happens, one month (chapter III) with pretty ok content and then suddenly make a dungeon avaiable for only some days and the bonfire-thing for four day max only to toss out the next content-bits suddenly. You do not miss much from the bonfire-thing, btw so maybe this part has an appropriate timing but even though I don’t like dungeons at all (and YES I did try) I think they could have kept this a bit longer so that more people could participate while chapter I and II could have fit easily in one month together.

Will Southsun end in a Group Dungeon?

You are posing some black and white decissions and pretend that there is no in between. There are several different game aspects which are not directly connected to each other.

I for my part feel very uncomfortable in groups with people I don’t know. And if you go down in a dungeon you are always a “burden” for the group no matter which size it is having. So there is no question about “even with”.

But I’m tired to explain myself over and over again. I said what I said…

At the beginning of this year they were stating that they wanted to bring back people into the open world by a series of features. I was under the impression that they ment the living story, which led me to believe this could be something I enjoy. Well obviously they did not.

Edit: And like I said before, there is no use to discuss Molten Facility in it’s current state any further, but I disagree that this way of setup has to be the role-model for all further story-parts.

That’s all fine. I agree with you. The thing is that the story-pie seemed to be for me, but in between they changed the recipe so that it’s delicous for some other people but not for me anymore, that’s what I’m critising. If you happen to like both cakes it’s fine, but some do not.

This is why I suggested just sticking in a mode so easy anyone could get the story out of the way, with accordingly nerfed loot to prevent farming it. It’s a pretty sad thing to do really since it basically removes the incentive for them to improve – you don’t need more skill or better gear if you’ll always just have easymode – and basically separates the playerbase (because likewise, you’ll never need to interact with someone who’s only good for easymode), but if it’s come to the point where people are convinced everything is impossible for them anyway, I guess they’d already resigned themselves to that fate.

I’m sorry to say but tbh the way it is now is seperating even more. I am noone who is asking that all content is nerfed down to my level. I never asked normal dungeon-content to be changed, or stuff like that, but we are talking about some temporary content. I wouldn’t mind if the dungeon was just there but I thought that the idea of that story was to keep people engaged in the content.

The combination of a dungeon and the story in the way it is set-up for several people is just like hitting the wall. That’s why I said it feels like they changed their traget audience in between. Btw I did the dungeon with a group but I personally would have rather liked to spare them my inabilities.

We are also talking about two imo completely different things. That dungeon can be done with five. The difficulty for that amount of people is pretty ok, even though I’m far away to say that it is a piece of cake especially for untrained people like me.

It maybe can be done solo, but then you need a big amount of experience and skill, I would say.

So if you do not have the skill your option is to either leave it completely or to play in a way you do not like. Not everyone who wants to see the story is an uberleet-pro who is doing all sorts of content like nothing. And then again, you are mixing two things imo. Atm someone who wants to play alone needs way more skill than someone who does not mind to group? So how is your proposal to adjust the difficulty for different group-sizes seperating the playerbase in general?

Pirlipat.2479

Well, I couldn’t, definitely not. Ofc it depends a big deal on playerskill, but to make it look like everyone can practically do it is assuming that everyone has the same skill. I doubt, people would make such a fuss about having it soloed if it was something that everyone can do.

That dungeon is announced as 5 people content and that is done for a good reason. In fact I find it even more sad because indeed you rather seem to need the five people to have the extra damage and not because you need alot of cooperation. So to scale it in a way that for example 2 “normal” player can do it would not have been to difficult I guess.

Edit: I want to add that I would have expected some rather storywise development instead of some action-combat at the end with two silly talking bosses. For me it looks somehow like they changed their target audience in between.

Edit2: However Molten Facility is over (or running and not gonna be changed) there is no use to cry over spilled milk any further. But we are talking about the next step for the story and I disagree that every story has to finish with some kind of dungeon-content designed for 5 “average” players.

Did you try SOB ? You know then it was written as joke i hope ‘’ Recommended 5 Players’’

You been missing the whole point, good for you if you like a big challenge or to party with a big group. Never thinking about those who doesnt. Selfish much ?

And stop trying to kiss Anet kitten lol like many other players that does

Yet demanding everything to be designed around solos play isn’t greedy at all? It’s an MMO, there is going to be things made for all types of people. If it was adhering to your personal beliefs, then it would not make group-friendly players happy as there is nothing that’s for them, unless it’s super-easy-moding solo content… Which then why is there a point in teams?

It’s like those who hate to see PvP updates when they want more PvE content, and vice-versa.

It’s aimed at all spectrums of the content of Living Story, the rest of it was soloable, and at least the dungeon in streamlined, easy, and quick.

Noone asks that EVERYTHING has to be soloable. But many people wish that a story which can be done solo does not end in a sort of forced group-content. It is just a disappointing experience if someone can do a part of a story and then either has to leave it unfinished or needs to change his/her playstyle in a way he doesn’t like at all.

I guess many people wouldn’t like if the story ended in some kind of mass-pvp even though I personally consider pvp a big part of any MMO. And that’s the same for people who do not like dungeon-content.

Perhaps its difficult for you because of your attitude? You don’t sound like an enjoyable person to be around to be honest.

And so are you.^^ (Just mirroring your position.) I don’t know him. How can I judge? And even if he is not an enjoyable person. What are we doing now? Should he not be allowed to play this game anymore? Would you want to have him in your group? No? Well this is countering your argument. All he wants is to be left alone and still beeing able to finish his story. He is not forcing his way someone has to be on others. He is not asking others to change their personality.

There are people out there who find it NOT easy to group with others they don’t know, to finish a task they don’t know, while they like to have a loose way to get in contact with others in a slow way. If you don’t like me for that reason, fine.

I don’t mind if there is a dungeon which is a side-activity which is not connected to a story-chain. But if there is a story I think it shouldn’t be related to the dungeon-content.

I finally did this Molten-Facility but I did NOT enjoy it. People were very friendly but I again recognised that I do not that much enjoy dungeon-content. I also recognised that I personally don’t find it a good way to tell stories. There were cutscenes? Where? I was very busy surviving and not loosing my group. I could NOT enjoy the story itself. (If there was one)

For me it was like mindlessly slaughtering my way through the dungeon, way to busy not to get down all the time and clearly with no time to appreciate whatever was in there storywise. I rather felt like I was in that dredge-machine all the time – stressed.

Dynamic Level Adjustment

I want to add something concerning “help” for lower lvl players. I experienced this kind of situations in several other games as the low-lvl who gets helped as well as helper and I have to say that it never was much fun.

Beeing lower mostly ment that someone was onehitting everything in front of me while I was following him/her as a useless lootpet. I have enjoyed the comany of a friend ofc but I mostly felt stupid because I couldn’t contribute anything to the fight.

Beeing higherlvl ment that I helped someone but the fun I gained was only from the feeling to help someone or that I enjoyed the company of that person, but it was not really fun to hang out in an area where the gameplay was boring.

In fact it was not really playing together. In GW2 I really enjoy that I can play in another area and don’t have to think about the lvl of someone I play with.

How do you sell the idea of gw2?

Well, I think downscaling is a huge plus, because you and your friends could play together without having to worry, that one in your group is to high for the rest of the party. So everyone can have his/her own levelingspeed and still play together with his/her friends.

We’re getting into the same dichotomy that Logan got crap for. She knew that Borje had Braham; but instead of taking care of her son, she decided it would be better to bolster her reputation by killing Jormag spawn and other dragon minions.

Tbh, I think it’s not bolstering her reputation for her own egoistic wishes but she fullfills something her people expect her to do. In that little story Borje say something like she is able to fullfill great tasks and noone has to put her off from that way. So he and alot of other people seem to expect her to adandon her child and fight the dragons.

I personally think that one of the reasons she and her son don’t get along very well could be that she failed with destinies edge the first time. So it is rather that she could not do what everyone expected her to do.

Edit: I just wanted to add something. When you talk to Braham for the first time (after you finished that instance with Rox in Chapter III), he mentions that he asked Rytlock for help because he and his mom don’t get along very well and I think he also says that every time they meet they start to argue etc. So I think that he has met her before and that didn’t end well for both. We don’t know why but it could be as well that Eir tried to get contact with him and he rejected her. So you can not be sure that she didn’t try.

I play DEs with other people, I revive people, I thank people when we ended an event, I help people when I’m asked and I have time and I talk to people. None of those social/multiplayer activities is related to grouping. Any other activity can be done with several people but it does not have to be done. And I personally hate this strong forced grouping if I don’t know the people in advance while I highly appreciate a loose and unforced way to play with others like in DEs.

This game is not a group-dungeon-crawler either. So much about this booohh you don’t wanna play with other people.

And again: noone minds dungeons in general but several people mind the combination of a 5 people dungeon and the story.

Do you know you are a random PUG yourself for every other players ?

People who complain about others players and don’t have the balls to make a five-man dungeon during one hour… you shouldn’t play an mmo

Oh, we are becoming insulting. I am aware that I’m PUG for someone else, which is exactely the reason I don’t group that way. Or would you speedrun-guys be happy to have a slow person in your group who actually cares for the story? MMO is forced grouping with random strangers oh thx alot you told me. Actually your attitude is proving my point perfectly.

My dungeon-experiences with PUGs in this game added nothing to my experience at it best. But I got yelled at and I got insulted by random people and even when I’m aware that not everyone in this game is that way (ofc not) I’m not very keen on the risk to have the same stressfull annoying experience again.

Uhm, in a way it does. For example when your inventory is full and you need room to pick up new items and there is no vendor near the place you are.

It’s still annoying and very inconvenient because you end up having to check your prices with everything you sell.

If your inventory is full, that’s your own fault for not making sure it has space to begin with. There’s many options to prevent that.

I was giving an example under which circumstances it can make sense to sell at the tp even if you get a lower price. It’s your fault as well if you don’t want to reseach if you can sell it higher when going to an NPC. So shrugs convenience has it’s price, I guess.

I doubt it – more avaiable colors = more supply = less expensive. I never had the impression that they care when some farmnerfs or new items change the demand or supply of something on tp. It’s simply because they make more money that way. And honestly if someone buys expensive from TP and could get it for less in another way it’s pretty much his fault, that’s no excuse to introduce their gashasystem again to save some “uninformed”. It’s not a big secret that someone can buy colors and stuff from the gemshop.

The new special dye's

Pirlipat.2479

Sadly it’s the one gem purchase I regretted. 500 gems gets you a 5 pack of dye, which doesn’t always give you a new dye. Out of 10 possible dyes, I got 1 new dye. I don’t mind RNG, but I’d rather all were new and it was RNG what you got from that pool.

Oh well, live and learn – far too expensive to waste money on imo

If that was the case, the chances of getting a certain dye would increase as you “fill in” the other colors. Want to farm Abyss dyes and such to sell? Buy the less expensive rares until all that is missing is the expensive ones like Abyss, now every pack you open MUST give you a valuable rare dye because those are the only slots still open.

It’s an obvious and easy exploit. Don’t want to be at the mercy of RNG? Buy specific colors from the TP.

He was asking for something different. He (and me too) would like to get one of the new colors from that pack and no already avaible colors mixed into that package.

As far as the :must confirm friends, I dunno…they must have had some reason for adding the follower system. Not sure what it was, but it’s there. Maybe stalking to an extent was an intention.

The positive thing about beeing able to add people without permission is that you can add people who are offline so that you can contact them when they come back on. Not everyone adding you to his/her friendlist must be a stalker.

However I’d like to get a short info if someone is adding me to his fl and I would like to be able to decide who get information where I am and when I’m online.

Well, how detailed will that information be? Will I have an option to hide those informations from other players? Will those sorting options allow other people to get detailed informations about what I did and where I got account-points? I am not really happy with this. Just give a generation credit when credit is due and stop trying to act like the current generation is the only thing to spawn pop culture because it’s not! The groundwork for much of gaming today or just pop culture in general was laid a long time ago. We are reaping the benefits of that work today.

If you look at the clothes stores nowadays you will find tons of 80ies inspired clothes. There are trends and other games like minecraft provide a way for styles to be appreciated by an audience. I never denied that old 8 bit games were a source. You must be really afraid that some credit of your oh so awesome childhood playing experience is taken away.

Inspiration is a mixture of loads of things.

Why is everyone so much biased that minecraft must not be a source of inspiration. Honestly, yeah old 8-bit games may have been the main inspiration, but without the popularity of minecraft they maybe would not have come to the idea to implement it here. And do you think that the only source of minecraft is old 8-bit games. For me all that stuff reminds me more to LEGO.

Imo inspiration and influence are usually not such straight forward things that someone can claim that something is the one and only source. (Does not go for the vampire novels ofc.)

I’ve been very critical on chapter two but I just wanted to say that I really like the content of the new chapter. The instanced missions are really cool, the informations are guiding very well and we finally got a developing story. For me it’s awsome.

Ok, here we go:

that the wintersday minis actually look like old fashioned toys. The griffin has seams and embroidery and the textures of the princess-doll look like some rough linen fabric.

that on wintersday the snow in lions arch was not just there, there were little magical snow-machines spreading it over the city. At the beginning I found it strange that a caribean city should have snow, but then I looked up and saw them. I really love it that they think about such tiny details.

that the turtels in the SAB are some kind of boxes with small cards attached at the side which show the level maps of SAB.

the music-machine in divinities reach

the strawberry field in Kessex Hills with the diving googles

all the stuff lying around which can be used as weapons
