Yeah, luck could definitely handled the same as karma or gold.
That being said, a tip for your mouse’s long life: Artificers can craft luck into better luck. Saves LOTS of clicks (and potentially helps you level up artificer, if you haven’t already).

After some more thought, what I’d like to see is a PvE wardrobe that works as follows:
1. Skins which are earned via AP’s or the completion of meta achievements go into one tab. These skins can be withdrawn from the wardrobe as many times as you want for free, similar to the way Zenith skins work now. (For convenience, put the HoM reward skins in here too.)
2. All other PvE skins must be unlocked by putting an existing copy of it into the PvE wardrobe. Both weapons and armors can be unlocked in the wardrobe this way. Once unlocked, you can generate additional one-time use copies of the skin by paying either Transmutation Stones (creates a version that works for any item up to level 79), or Transmutation Crystals (can be used for all levels). These skin copies are account bound, so they can’t be sold.
This allows players to gradually build up a wardrobe of skins they like to use, and don’t have to waste inventory/bank space holding multiple sets of armor or weapons. At the same time, ANet also gets to keep its lucrative transmutation market, since you still need Stones/Crystals to generate additional skin copies.
That sounds fair to me.

This same thing has happened to me, too, albeit not consistently. My waypointing mostly works fine. I always felt like it was a loading issue.
Could it be related to lag, or slow CPU?
This might be something for the tech support forum.

I found the Thaumanova Fractal disappointing for a completely different reason.
Whenever I visit the reactor today, I find myself wistfully staring into the sealed-off area to the West (with the waterfalls in). I fully expected to be able to go there when I visit the fractal.
The reactor map from the fractal is completely different from the reactor today, however, and to be honest, I have no idea how one morphed into the other. Where are the poison, water and ice chambers? Or, I don’t know, the floor? Is this really supposed to be the same facility? How?!
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
That is what the dev said. So for the time being you keep your skin, and if you dont like the new skin you can easily get a refund.
“easily”… unless you already transmuted it onto existing armor. Then you’re kind of screwed, but I have read conflicting dev replies on whether (and if, how) this would be resolved.

This thread wasn’t supposed to be about the cultural T3 though, at least not only. I’m so hoping that the various suggestions in the original posting are considered for the future.

Well the toxic dye kit does says this in the description:
Contains one random armor dye from a pool of 25 colors that includes six new, exclusive colors.
Sorry!

The trade agreement is pretty much useless. There are no new goods in LA.
Not true, you can get zephyrite goods in LA from the armor skin trader.

??I’m confused¿ Why can’t I +1 this post more than once??? It deserves more.
lol, thank you.
Also, I think this fiasco needs a nickname. I vote “Particlegate”
Hah!
Some constructive critique:
Please, please, please, if you make a gem-store armour, even if it is only a reskin, adjust it for a tail. None of the three skins actually work on a Charr.
Thanks, I will add this to the OP.

The solution is not switching the orders, is fixing the fractals that people avoid so they are no longer a mere exercise of frustration.
Which is nice, but wouldn’t at all address what I’m saying.
Even with balance going long->med->short is the best option.
I guess their point is that if the fractals were balanced, they’d all be roughly the same duration in the first place.
Pretty sure that the difference in length was a byproduct, not by design. In my opinion, there is no need for long → medium → short because there is no need for different durations. In a perfect world…

Not only did they reuse skins but they butchered the original ones too.
Before/after
That is also mindboggling. Nice find.

updated to better reflect the current “state of the game”:
Okay, we’re all on the scale somewhere between “puzzled” and “raging”, but there is no excuse for using CAPS on a wiki page.
Anyways, I updated the first post with some of the excellent suggestions of how this could have been awesome. For the future. Maybe someone at ANet’s will read and consider the suggestions. I gave credit where due.

Yeah, it’s a real shame, but I wanted to have an objective thread to reference since the topic continues to pop up on the forums every time a new armour set is released that isn’t gender-balanced, and quickly degenerates into a mess of controversial topics that really stray from the core problem.
And the best of luck to you and this thread! * fingers crossed *

last example, about identity: I can have a necromancer mask on a mesmer, or even a engineer backpack on my warrior, through transmutation.
Which I’m sure was not intended, but is a “backdoor” / workaround that was decided not to fix for whatever reason(s). Otherwise the starting gear would be available from vendors or drop from mobs.

So Gw2 has a massive living world but tbh it feels empty… apart from vistas and pois there is nothing really else to explore. I would just love if there were a couple of things in each zone that would catch your eye and you could honestly say “hey thats pretty cool”. It would make the world feel more immmersive
I found plenty and plenty and plenty of such things in GW2 when I first explored the maps.
My only problem with the current maps is one of consistency.
- I wish Southsun Cove had vistas and hearts, maybe more POIs.
- I wish all main cities had one or more jumping puzzle, inviting you to explore the city maps fully, as is the case with Lion’s Arch.
As for marvelling at landscapes and such… the maps are beautifully designed. I don’t know why you don’t see it, or what else you have in mind.
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
I just met two new players today. So they definitely exist. Still don’t get the point of the email. As if there wasn’t enough guild recruitment spam in /map.
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
To be honest what urks me even more now that I think about it, is if they wanted to put out glorified reskins, they could have done it with some of the awesome town clothes and people would cream themselves.
Instead, they went this route.
I would have been very, very okay with that.
Thanks for being constructive.
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
Now, I wanna be clear, I don’t have a problem with reskins. I do have a problem with gem store reskins.
it seems, to me, that it would be perfectly reasonable to add these skins as part of some MF or crafting recipie, requiring the base skins.
or even sell an item for gems that can upgrade existing armor to a sprakly version, and slowly increase the number of armor sets it supports.
Reskinning prestige armors and selling them for cash is just… lazy. Why bother? Is there some rule from monetization that you have to put of armor every two patches now?
I agree with this.
Thanks for the fair and reasonable statement.
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
If anything, it proves that there is no good reason to not allow players to wear all the town clothes that the NPCs wear.
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
When I saw the title, I just wanted to link to the last thread discussing this exact issue, but if I’m honest, you did a very fine job laying it out. Good job, here’s four +1s.
I agree with everything you said. (Bonus points for making a point without being condescending, kitten-shaming or sexist towards either gender.)
I also appreciate the layout and readability of your post.
Seriously, that was so disappointing. When I read that Kasmeer’s armor was going to be available in the gem store, I was dying to see the male version. The first thing I did was to check that out, and I don’t even have a male light armor character. I was so disappointed to see a completely different armor.
The second disappointment with the same set happened when I considered getting the Phoenix set for my female Asura and remembered too late that she only got to wear the male set.
I could tell you similar stories about the other armor sets. For example, love the short skirt from the viper set (and I am actually wearing it on my engi right now) but I’m not at all happy that there’s nothing similar for male characters. I’m sure that male Sylvari, for example, would also like to show off more of their glow.

~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
Why create a thread about this when there already is one. Especially when they’ve actually put some effort into it, unlike your ill attempt.
By ‘put effort into it’ you are reffering to slapping cheap particles on already existing armor?
I think Zach was referring to the existing flame* armor thread.
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
I this what is called a win-win situation?
Not in my book. I doubt that after the amount of whining during and after the election, ANet will put anything up for public vote ever again. Which is a shame, in my opinion. The ability to help shape where the story goes was… a promising and exciting direction for the living story to take.
Polarizing the community and making people playing a game together angry at each other is not a good thing.
You want to create a cohesive, cooperative community in a game like this, people should at least be cohesive on their servers, let the rivalries be between server communities in WvW or perhaps guilds in GvG eventually. Competitive rivalries can be fun, but not political rivalries, not when future content is on the line.
This has been done in other games (and even TV series) and people didn’t feel polarized or at least acted a lot less poopy about it. Why it would work there and not in the GW2 community, I don’t know.
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
1 champion gives better rewards than this lol
You should probably read the chest reward again.
Those are finished products, not 1 dust etc.
So its 100 dusts, 100 dragonite and 100 fragments and some obsidian shards.
One of each refined is not as good as 100 of each raw because you lose the crafting exp value of the materials (which you’ll need for ascended armor no doubt.)
It saves you 30 thermo reagents and 6 obsidian shards. Not a bad deal in my mind.
It also “saves” you the crafting progress you would have gotten, which is more valuable to me than the finished item.
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
Well, the light armor skin choice really blew up. Wasn’t even the focus of this thread. There is more that is worth mentioning, for instance that the Invaders set is one of the least popular medium sets. Also… great idea to make the belt glow on the pants, you can’t even see the belt on medium armor (almost all sets) because trench coats.
The pitfighter one is the only one that I think looks kind of cool with added effects, but I’m not interested in fire.
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
They need to add all other cultural armors to the gemstore available for all races. Otherwise its not really fair… If i would have known they were going to do this i would have made a norn and bought t3 light instead of making a human specifically for t3 >.< ugh
I’ll sign this. +1
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
Has been suggested before and is still a good suggestion.
Dear ANet: This would lead to me spending more money rather than less. (I explained this in another tread.)
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
I’m sure the argument is that they are technically different, but come on, that’s BS.
They are different. The gemstore one is better.
(If you like fire.)
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
I think possibly this is due to many players simply opting out of FoTM entirely. If the was too good players would scream, “forced content”. They could have attached a skin to the loot but it is hard to say how that would have gone over considering they do that every month (and in 2 weeks well likely see lots of skins). The rewards are generally skills and sometimes a title but rarely are they that good. The most appealing part of LW is the AP you’ll get for completing the achievements.
I think a title would have been fair.
Actually, maybe a title that can be achieved again, next time new fractals are added (sort of like the SAB titles). That would’ve worked for me.

Well I only read about the new armor sets tonight when the patch notes went up, so I didn’t have much time to get my hopes up… and I don’t want to be unfair. Still, these skins were arbitrarily selected/combined, with no relation to anything happening in game (temporary or permanent), and the rest. I think it is ok to criticize.
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
before you people blow up at Anet, yes they do many silly things, but content every 2 weeks is something most games don’t have – and its free, keep in mind too making a game is not easy – but this WP thing….. really screwed that up…
I know, and I’ve been one of ANet’s most vocal defenders on here when it comes to bugs and accidents and the living story concept what not. Working in IT support, I know how much can go wrong under a tight schedule.
And yet, I cannot understand at all how this one slipped through QA.
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
I wasn’t even one of the people who said that ascended materials as a reward were totally pointless, and even I am disappointed. What is happening here? =C
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
Nah, she’s talking about adding them to our guilds for guild influence.
I think if it was about any significant in-story change, there would be a lot more going on in terms of promotion than an isolated mail from Rox. But maybe I am missing something.
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
I agree for the the most part, too many armors now have fire effects, although I do like that the light armor skin is basically t3 human so you don’t have to spend over 100g to get the full set but just 10 bucks instead.
See, I always defended the concept of cultural armor. NOW I don’t know anymore why I can’t have heavy human T3 for my norn.
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
dont forget making T3 Human Cultural armor available for everyone…
I haven’t previewed it on any other races yet. Is it really the same for the others? Human male T3 for female Asura and Charr, too? Blah.
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
where’s the article on these new armors you talk about?
It’s mentioned in the patch notes, you can preview them in the PvP locker. The gem store hasn’t been updated yet to display them.
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
I hear they did in the livestream. It appears that that did not lead to fixing the problem, though. I am double-puzzled.
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
… that I should get out and socialize more? That came out of nowhere.
It’s a bit ironic as the content introduced in this patch clearly isn’t suitable for any new character/player, even less so than the Krait tower.
Is there anything else to Rox’ message?
Or is she just showing off her warband name
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
My thoughts on the three new gemstore armor sets Flamekissed, Flamewalker and Flamewrath:
The good
- Love the names. They made me super-excited to see the new armor sets in the PvP locker.
- The price is ok. After the price for the unlimited gathering tools went up and the toxic skins were more expensive, I expected worse.
The not so good
- Fire… again? What’s with the fire fetish, ANet? That’s like the fourth or fifth set of burning gloves…
- Disappointed that it’s not new skins, but existing skins with added particle effects
- Disappointed that the armor sets have no relation to the living story update (unlike the toxic, aetherblade and belated Rox/Braham skins).
I am even more disappointed when awesome new skins are created and no story goes with them (viper set, magitech set…) Using cultural armor was a poor choice for two reasons.
One, Some people are understandably cranky that their already bought 100+ gold armor set is now in the gem store with added particle effects for less than half of what they spent (including transmutation crystals).
And two, now the entire debate of making cultural armor sets available for all races will start again. So the concept of cultural armor is going out of the window, … when can I have heavy human T3 for my norn?
Room for improvement
- This entire armor set, despite being old skins, would sell like hot cakes if the particle effect could be died. Most people I know in game are really really over fire/lava by now, but it would be easy to dye this into ice, mist, shadow, green necro magic, pink mesmer magic, or to go with their fractal weapons, dreamthistle weapons, etc. etc. etc…. I guess I just don’t understand why you wouldn’t make that happen. Players would shower you in money.
- New gem store armor with particle effects could have been reskins of the PvP-only armor sets that players have been asking for for so long. (Soulmyr.8094)
- New gem store armor with particle effects could have been reskins using of some of the popular NPC town clothes sets that players have been asking for for so long. (Celestina.2894)
- Reskins of prestige armor such as cultural T3 could have been released (bit by bit) through mystic forge or crafting upgrades of existing (already bought) cultural armor pieces. (PopeUrban.2578)
A gem store component used in the crafting/MF to enhance an existing piece of cultural armor to include particle effects would have been ok. If you must put cultural armor in the gem store, do it for all sets. (Creativewild.6319)- While we don’t expect you to fix charr tail compatibility for every single existing armor set, we would ask you to take better care of this and other clipping issues for gem store sets (due to their price, and because only 1-3 new sets are made available at a time). (LadyRhonwyn.2501)
Edited to include valuable feedback from commenters
Cultural armor criticism is no longer valid, but the other points still stand!
For reference:
The light armor is based on human cultural T3
The medium armor is based on WvW / Invader’s
The heavy armor is based on the Pitfighter set
