Halloween?

PlagueParade.7942

Yea. I still believe Halloween will take place in LA and I am really, really hoping that all of LA will be festooned with jack-o-lanterns, scarecrows and the like. What I would love to have though is for it to have something more than the past 2 years. Maybe even have an event similar to the baby karka find one. I want a great new bit of history added to it. Some flavor context that gives you a new back pack (that can become ascended like you would the fractal ones). I love my “Mad King Memoirs” backpack and I still recall all the history that went with it. I want to see something similar this year. Also, some new weapons skins and bringing back the old ones too would be great. But, I am still worried that we will just get a repeat of the last couple of years. I really hope this doesn’t happen but it is understandable, unfortunately.

Halloween?

My thinking is one of the reasons they put HoT on Oct. 23 might be because they haven’t had any time to do anything for Halloween. In this way the majority of the playerbase will be preoccupied with HoT for the most part and since they’ll see it’s only a rehash of the past 2 years may not play the Halloween events really at all.

So, with the upcoming arrival of HoT on October 23 what do you think this means for Halloween? Do you think we will get last years repeat of year 2 again? It would be nice to get some new Halloween weapon skins. But what I enjoyed most from the first year was getting the backpack and all the history we learned behind this. It would be nice if they at least made something similar that is just as long and entertaining; getting us to go out into the world and explore areas we would normally miss.

And poof! There go my Karma boosts

This is bupkis. Even if they had warned us they were going to do this those of us who had already converted them would still be royally hosed. They should make just make new boosters and the old ones we have now keep their karma boosters. This is just not cool.

Is there gonna be Halloween event this year?

They probably will have it. Sadly though, it’ll probably be regurgitated from last year. This in itself will be disappointing for me. I loved the first year. The event where you had to go all over the place and learn the history of King Thorn and get his back piece was fantastic. I would really want them to do something similar this year. But with HoT being there main concern I won’t be surprised to see last years events again. Sad panda is sad.

Part II

Weapons:

For the most part I liked how the weapons worked but their damage was very sub par.

Hammer:

Hammer Bolt- I found myself using this most of the time (not because I wanted to) the length of time it takes to use and the damage given made it sub par to other classes auto attacks.

Coalescence of Ruin- This worked well but damage was mediocre.

Phase Smash- Too telegraphed by effects and took too long to activate. Most opponents avoided this attack with evades or simply got out of the radius before it activated.

Field of the Mists- I like this skill but I think it should have a larger radius.

Drop the Hammer- Good skill but too telegraphed from effects and damage was weak.

Staff:

Auto attack- Worked nicely but the damage was weak.

Punishing Sweep: I liked the animation but the damage was mediocre.

Warding Rift: Worked fine though I think it should reflect ranged attacks plus blind them (if blinded their next attack will miss and not be reflected back to them like if a ranger uses their long bow #2 they will only get reflected back the arrows that connected with the warding rift).

Renewing Wave- I liked how this works though the animation made me think that it would also blind foes due to the slight smoke that came from it.

Surge of the Mists- Worked well as is.

Mace:

Auto attack chain- I loved how quick the mace hit. Damage could be okay but the added conditions made it lack luster. This is a melee weapon set using Torment which seems counter productive. Should change torment to a different condition like several stacks of bleeding or burning. The poison at the third chain worked well.

Searing Fissure- Was too telegraphed and took too long to activate with the sub par damage and burn. It should give more damage and several stacks of burns with the length it took to activate. Once again most opponents I fought against simply sidestepped the attack altogether before the animation finished.

Echoing Eruption- I liked this attack to worked well as is maybe increase the damage a bit with a slightly higher energy cost.

Axe:

Frigid Blitz- Worked well as is damage on the 2nd hit could be slightly higher.

Temporal Rift- Worked well but was too telegraphed and most opponents avoided the pull before it activated. Should make the pull instant with the attack.

I loved the idea of how the mace/axe combo worked with conditions but the damage made me not use it hardly at all which disappointed me.

Most of the time I found myself using the hammer or occasionally the staff to that of the mace/axe but even then all the weapons damage output was abysmal.

Surprising epiphany on Revenants:

On the last night of PvPing with revenants I was hit with a profound disappointing epiphany. The revenant felt like a troll class. I would use Unyielding Anguish constantly to displace opponents watching as eles using tornado would be displaced from one side of the cap to the other or would use it beautifully on opponents who were about to stomp one of my teammates giving me and others time to revive them. The downed state – Forceful Displacement, felt like a troll skill that I saw most opponents yelling at me for using. The damage on the auto attack of downed state was more preferred to that of the weapons I used. I found myself doing over 1k damage per hit with it. How troll is that on both your opponents and the revenants I played alike?!

I feel like this class has a lot of potential but it really does need some work in PvP.

Part I

How to compensate for ranged/melee on lack of weapon swap.

The one thing that comes to mind is make legends ALSO swap the weapon skills. Make it so that each legend can specialize in distance or melee and make your weapons one or the other. (I know they talked about making this class unique by only swaping utilities but it wouldn’t be so bad for it to be both). Most people I fought against would either (if using melee weapons simply snipe me while I tried to chase after them) or Snipe me while my slow auto attack hammer skill hit them like a warm breeze.

Things I found wrong about revekittenn PvP.

Energy:

Energy costs are too high for the utilites. Most of the time I found myself unable to do much of anything other than auto attack due to costs. If there is an energy cost to weapons why not make it like Thieves and just take out the CDs. Giving us ways in traits and such to get extra Energy and boost the amount we have from traits as well. Have Utilities instead of costing so much cost less and take away a cetain amount of energy from what you’ve got (ex. If I have a cap of 100% energy and use Unyielding Anguish it will cost 25 energy and subtract 10 energy making me have a cap of 90 energy left). To make up for the lost energy make weapon attacks give back an energy per use though they also use up energy (ex. using Hammer #3 uses up 10 energy and adds back 1 energy so your cap goes from 90 to 91). The lowering of the energy cap per utility should be something to debate about. The energy costs I’ve placed on the Legendary Ventari Stance are just examples and nothing more.

Legends:

Legendary Ventari Stance-

On res while using ventari legend the tablet does not appear near you again. You have to switch back to which other legend you have equipped and then swap back to Ventari Stance to reset it. It should simply make it where you have to resummon the tablet.

Ventari’s Tablet should follow you like guardian spirit weapons till you call it to action. I like, though, how Ventari’s Tranquility/Will work altogether.

Protective Solace- Works great as is.

Natural Harmony- Should cost 15-20 energy and subtract 5-10 energy though the cost should give you a larger heal and give a smaller heal + Regen to your allies.

Purifying Essence- Instead of taking away condis why not turn them to boons? Cost should be 15-20 energy and subtract 10 energy.

Energy Expulsion- Works great as is. Energy cost should be lowered to 30 energy cost and subtract 15 energy.

Legendary Demon Stance:

Empowering Misery- I like how it works but is too telegraphed. Most people that saw me using it were able to stop me before it activated. Should either lower the time it takes to use it or don’t make it so obvious that I. Am. Healing. Myself. (dont show them raising thier arm in triumph as if you beat your opponent already: =/= —> o/ ).

Pain Absorption- I like how this works but it takes too long to activate and I was usually downed before it became active.

Banish Enchantment- How about the boons stripped from your opponent/s are transferred to you as well.

Unyielding Anguish- THIS SHOULD BE THE ELITE. I found myself constantly using this to cap points while even several opponents were unable to do much but be ported to the other side of the cap. It was funny to see eles use their tornado to knock us off and found themselves displaced to either side of the cap. I used this constantly to stop my teammates from being stomped and was able to res them as well while it was still active. Please make this the elite it is very OP.

Embrace the Darkness- I never used this. I found using Unyielding Anguish way to worth it to bother.

Legendary Dwarf Stance: I feel like this legendary should be a CC one.

Soothing Stone- I like how this works but once again too telegraphed. I usually found myself CC’d before it activated.

Inspiring Reinforcement- The Effects of this skill kept me thinking that it would be a knockdown. I think it should be a 1-2sec knockdown against opponents and keep the stability for allies. Use of energy and loss of energy cap should be steep to compensate for the CC. Ex. 20 energy and -15 energy on cap.

Forced Engagement- I like how it works but should give it 3sec instead of 2.

Vengeful Hammers- This works well, though for the cost should maybe add vulnerability to the mix.

Rite of the Great Dwarf- I never used this the cost was too high for so little in return. Should either reduce the damage further and negate all condis OR make yourself invulnerable for 5 seconds and give allies the reduced damage.

Suggetion: Change Compact to Sort!

I’ve always found those to be an awful waste of relics. Besides they do not compact and is usually a waste of space (I know that other items will fill the empty slots up if there are none left in other bags). The idea of Sorting is, I believe, a much better way to get your items in order. Also, there are plenty of people who do not like fractals. You would suggest to them to slave away at it anyhow to get a bag? Hm….

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

PlagueParade.7942

rares & exotics already give a prompt which includes the items name (and its quality).

I’ve never had occasion to deliberately use compact, though. It would just totally wreck my bag organisation.

Yes but there are plenty of people who are color-blind and cannot see the colors surrounding each item. I use compact all the time then just buy salvage kits to use from the bottom up. And even though rares and exotics give prompts there are plenty of people who just use a mystic kit on their higher tier items without looking at what they are salvaging due to the amount of rares they have accumulated.

As I have said earlier a lot of people that have items that they like a certain way just get invisible bags or the like to prevent them from being moved out of order. Sort would still not mess with those items just as compact does not

What this idea does, is sort out items in regular bags from exotics down to whites making it less likely to salvage the rarer items that you got from drops, chests, and the like.

As the title says, it’d be great if the compact function in our bags could be changed to Sort, which, would not only place our items (except invisible bags and the like) going from Exotics down to whites but also compact the items within our bags. This function would also help reduce the chances of players mistakenly salvaging their poor exotics and rares with basic salvage kits or copper/silver fed-o-matics instead of using the much needed mystic and black lion salvage kits or wanting to sell said items in the TP. I’ve known many people who have done such said things grieving the loss of gold they could have earned with those items. One even swears they basic salvaged a precursor once! The horror, the horror….

I like that we will be able to guild craft new weapons and armor and the builds and such but I do hope they add more things to this. Guild Crafting could open up a slew of other items that would be great to make. I’d like to be able to craft things like guild emblem fireworks (as they did in Lunar New Year). Maybe they could even be themed for WvW, PvP, PvE. Another would be different tiers of finishers. It would neat to see finishers exclusive to PvP and WvW. Probably the other thing I’d like to see different tiers of would be Back items that display our guild logos that could be crafted.

Suggestion: Name Release

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: PlagueParade.7942

PlagueParade.7942

So yesterday I was creating a character and spent over 2 hours trying to figure out a name. I know you can just add a last name or put an accent mark on a letter but honestly, I’ve never liked those. Most players I know do not like putting accent marks in their name and some compromise on a last name. For me it seems like it diminishes the name but that’s me. It’s malarkey that people that haven’t played this game for 1-2 years or more should keep the names they have just because they got them first. If they do not play the game why should they hold onto the names. This, I think, is especially important for when the expansion comes. New players that come in trying to find a name I think will get frustrated like myself and countless others. So that’s my suggestion.

Anet, would you please free up names for people that have not played this game for, at the least, two years or more.

Guild Dungeons/Raids & upgrades in HoT?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: PlagueParade.7942

PlagueParade.7942

I like the fact that we will have to fight to get a guild hall. The big thing is what to do in guild halls afterwards. From previous games the guild halls we had we barely went to. They were something to have as a “status” rather than put to real use. These games would make furniture and the like with stat bonuses to put in the guilds but pretty much no one really bothered even entering them.

I think one thing that would make a great addition to a guild is a dungeon within. Something to keep guild mates going back again and again. A possible daily or weekly dungeon raid where you take guild challenges a step further by adding things like obstacles that split your guild or party up and takes coordination to open gates and such to fight the mobs, mini bosses and eventual boss in each part, at the end of which you are rewarded with necessary components to make the guild armor/weapons using the new guild craft.

As to upgrades, I would love to see some minor type upgrades that could be brought in. One such item that caught my eye was the guild fireworks that we got from the Lunar New Year. I would love to have things like this be able to get made and upgraded as part of the new guild crafting as well as different types made to show what your guild may actually play more of (WvW, PvP, PvE). Maybe be able to create and upgrade such things as new guild finishers or different types of Guild gear that are exclusive to WvW, PvP, PvE not necessarily/just armor or weapons but back pieces as well. The possibilities within this new crafting could be a great addition within the game and the ways to get the necessary components to make them will, I think, bring in more players to join or make guilds to immerse themselves within.

So far, I have to say I rather enjoy the new daily system. Whereas before I never even had to glance at what dailies we had and always managed to do them without a thought in less than an hour. Now I look to see what dailies we have and actually put in effort to do them. I find that I even wvw more often, which, was never something I really enjoyed as much. I like getting more than just an achievement from my dailies. What should be added into this are dungeons as well and not just do a path in CoF but be more specific like doing CoF p3 or AC p2 (the ones that people tend to skip) and give a good incentive to do them like extra tokens or a couple of rares or an extra gold or 2 on completion.

What was a nice edition were the achievements you got from doing Wintersday events. I think this should be a permanent feature as well that should be added to newer content like Silverwastes and Drytop for the time being and later to become achievements for future content.

Just depends on the weapon you use the most. If all you play is thief making the dagger is probably the best bet. Honestly, there are not very many good looking daggers imo. Swords, on the other hand have a bunch that look really great. If you do play more than just a thief then consider which of the other classes also use one of those weapons and MOST importantly do you use that particular weapon on the other classes a lot or not much at all. If you do not use one of the weapons much at all on other classes then that can help you make your decision on which of the two legendary weapons to make.

For those who don’t read it, it basically says allow us to decide what the essences boost,

Karma
XP Gain
WvW XP

Gold boost was left out due the problems it could cause to the market with no money sink etc,

All they had to do was add a little check mark beside each one of these that you can select ( note you can only boost 1 at a time ) the coding is already in place for this, its just a matter of allowing us to select which we want to boost, and let it follow the same pattern as MF.

No not a check mark. Do you know how long that would take for each one of them to have to be clicked then checked then click again? What would be better than that is making a vendor that you can turn in your Essence of Luck to and choose between Karma, XP, WvW XP or just do the regular double click to get the luck.
