The mechanics for a whip are already in use (Nightmare Court mobs with vines and pick up weps) but it would be a unique weapon choice. This was something I have actually wanted to see for a few years now. It’s a weapon I could see a mesmer, elementalist, thief, or engineer use. I can only comment on how a mesmer can use it since it’s the class I’m most familiar with.
(both hand use)

#1: 1st hit does dmg, 2nd hit has a CHANCE to inflict blind, cripple, or bleed, 3rd hit higher dmg. (Just one of those conditions not all.)

#2: Creates a clone

#3: Creates a phantasm that works similarly like phantasmal warden

#4: Inflicts bleeding

#5: Creates a line that when crossed grants you speed and blinds opponents

Either Hand:

Main
#1: 1st hit does dmg, 2nd hit has a CHANCE to inflict blind or cripple (not both just one or the other), 3rd hit higher dmg.

#2: Grants Distortion (2 sec) AOE dmg (yea like blurred frenzy, not too creative XoP).

#3: A hit that dmgs and blinds a foe and ends by creating a clone. (I think this is kinda neat as when blind is inflicted once it wears off probably the first thing they’ll see is your clone and they probably will attack it.)

Offhand
#4: Deals dmg and cripples foe.

#5: something similar to Phantasmal warden (can’t think of anything better offhand ( no pun intended)). =^P

These are merely ideas they could be too OP or not enough Idk so take them with a grain of salt.

As I said earlier Mesmer is the only class i’m most familiar with. But the idea of a whip as a weapon of choice is a pretty viable one in my opinion and would bring more interest in the class that someone would want to play. The mechanics are already in place. It just needs to be spec’d out for each class that could use it.

Just did the pirate jump puzzle for the first time yesterday and it was rather entertaining. I enjoyed his off color comments and going through an his obstacle course and mini maze to reach him. The only part that ever so slightly disappointed me was the area where you had the lights turn off and on. I didn’t make the last step and thought that maybe the ground was filled with something that would either kill me or poison and cripple me to try and reach the entrance to it again before I could die. This would’ve heightened the experience, in my opinion. It’d be fun, though, to have more like these around the world.

Even the possibility of making a Jump Puzzle dungeon where, in order to reach the next section you have to do a jump puzzle that may have mobs interspersed around. But if you fall off you die instantly and have to redo the jump puzzle. Ultimate goal, of course, is fighting a mini boss in each section (possibly have more WP in these types of dungeons so you don’t have to redo them all just to get to where you were before you died) and then finishing a jump puzzle to get to the main boss who maybe can shoot out a few mobs in their jump puzzle section to prevent you from reaching them.

It’d just be a neat kind of idea being able to run through dungeon mazes that have trap doors or hidden passages (like the Pirate LA one has) and other such things out and about.

anyways i think playing ele well has a lot to do with attitiude and willingness to adapt. if you try to play it like a wow/warhammer/aion/rift/wowclone fire mage, you are gonna have a bad time.

This is very true. I also think that many people that stick with and eventually do well with the Ele end up sticking with the class because it makes you adapt and that keeps it fun and interesting.

Lol. Seriously? You’re able to take down other mesmers just fine but b/c of this one mesmer all of a sudden we’re too OP? Dude? Sore loser much? You were outclassed plain and simple. But just b/c you got pawned by one mesmer doesn’t make the class OP. Learn from the experience and better yourself for it. Fights like that to me would be a blast win or lose. You fought a worthy opponent quit belittling it by blaming on the class being OP.

The biggest flaw I’ve seen in MMOs recently is that they do exactly what most players want. A quick finish. I mean, how long did it take for people to make it to 80? A month or less? Of course people leave when they have nothing to do once they’ve reached cap and have done all the dungeons to get their armor. I know people got annoyed with grindy games but one thing about them from what I’ve seen is people stayed not for months but for years. Well there’s nothing they can do about that.

The one suggestion I would say they could do is branch out more on the personal story quests and maybe have each race have a story quest that everyone can do that would include each zone which also have a mini boss within them which would end in a 100% map completion.

Just got a sylvari speargun drop today too bad my sylvari’s a mesmer the wep looked good.

I thought to myself. You know, I never played a plant and they glow how awesome is that and the variety of colors and they can glow in the dark. Just was too hard to pass up. Oh and their hair! When I saw that branch like hair it was epic had to have it. And it has been worth it ever since.

This early in the game adding a new class would be asinine. Maybe in a couple years I could see them doing that and possibly adding even a new race we could play but right now? No. Just not smart.

Meh, with waypoints mounts are a bit redundant. But hey, why not add a very slow Dylak as a mount. Yes, your very own dylak. As you ride it cruising a good 1 mile per hour you can coast and watch others and have pity on them as they walk past you.

Yea, she had a great voice. Her char was my favorite so far. Very up beat.

T3 female heavy helm is my favorite of the whole game. Making a female warrior sylvari just for that helm.

Didn’t really care for the T3 cultural armor for sylvari. I’m actually saving up for a mix of T1 and T2 sylvari light armor, though, my favorite piece of sylvari cultural armor would have to be the t3 heavy helm. If that had been a light armor type it’d be the first piece I’d want to buy.

As to what you said about sylvari females not really having a curvy shape you weren’t looking at all of them then. The last 2 have a great hourglass physique. And personally the dragonfly looking set and masquerade sets look rather good on my female sylvari.

I so want to try the CT. Hopefully I get my comp back today. If I do I’ll be playing till the event comes to a complete end then go to sleep.

Did they just do the same Halloween event year after year in GW1? I mean, as awesome as this Halloween event is; next year I’m hoping for something entirely new, though, I wouldn’t say no to this event being put on in early October for us to enjoy till a hopefully new Halloween event starts up on the 22nd again but that may be asking for too much.

As much as I enjoyed this event and read/watched of it I’d like to see something different next year. Doing the same event year after year would get a bit dull. So here’s to looking forward to something new next year, though, this event has been great.

Then again it wouldn’t be so bad if they did this event in early October and a new on the day this one had started this year.

I have to ask. Why are they removing the Ascent to Madness dungeon anyhow? Why not keep it till the event is fully finished?

Get them to take a pic of it and post it and if possible for both male and female chars.

Yea, it definitely seems addicting. I’d probably spend the majority of this event (after each act) just doing this for fun. It’s practically built to be done Mario Bros. style. Just run through with no thought or hesitation.

I wonder if people can do this in their town clothes. I could totally see someone turning to the mad king outfit and scaring everyone off the steps for an unobstructed view for themselves.

Well I still say to try and get it where you jump from shortest to tallest or vice versa. I mean from the vids I’ve seen people aren’t jumping simultaneously to every spot some a second or two later. So I’d still say try and jump starting from shortest to tallest.

I can’t actually do this event due to comp complications but the way it sounds… well, do you have to jump together as a group? Can’t you just have the smaller characters jump to the next spot first then the bigger characters or vice versa?

Perhaps have it as an instance event that people can only do once per account? And if it is an event that the people at Anet have to be a part of have it be an instance that is active several times that day but still made where you can only do it once per account.

What is the 2nd act reward when you finish it? Or are these 2 chests considered to be them?

I thought it was the weapons that had the brawl abilities not the clothes. Like how the regular weapons work.

Are there any neat items this go around like the book from the 1st act?

P.S. Are we able to use a transmutation on the book?

Is the trading post universal (1 TP for all Worlds/servers) or is it restricted to one per world (server)?

Meaning if I were to transfer to a different world could I potentially buy/sell an item for cheaper/more?

At most I would buy the 5 key pack tops on this or any future chance like items. And that is for just the enjoyment of a possibility to win. If it’s some thing that I really want I’ll buy it in TP; it will more than likely be cheaper in the end.

One handed Chain Sword
Avian Shoulders (Heavy)

Bought 20 Keys from the Cash shop, got no skins at all.

Make of that what you will, its all chance i’m not bothered at all, i like the other items i get.

Okay dude just gonna say this. We are almost about to hit the 4th day of this event and it lasts for another 6-7 days more than likely the price for that skin and the others will drop a lot more as the days progress. Do the smart thing and wait.

You know, reading a few of these posts something occurred to me that another mmo did concerning what I call chance boxes. I’d consider that next time Anet puts these up that the BLCs or MKCs type of boxes that along with the other items it gives out they also give out a token each time they are opened (or some high % chance like 25-50%) that if you get an accumulated amount can be turned in to get the said item of your choice. They could also make it where these same tokens can be saved and used for other holiday/future event rewards.

I guess this would kill off the rarity of the said items but it’s a solution.

Honestly, the amount of money ppl are spending on these. The thing is ppl want the items for cheap. That, is what it comes down to. Well, if you’re one of those people who is prepared to spend loads on keys for chests you should stop for a few minutes think what you are prepared to spend for it and knowing the chances are insanely slim, buy the 5 key pack to try your luck. If it’s a no go and you don’t get to collect your "$200 " but are still willing to spend more for a chance at a cheaper way to get the skin you want, stop, and just sell turn those gems to gold and buy the skin you want….

Unfortunately, Providence has decided to break my computer (motherboard probably) – while leveling my weaponsmith skills – about 30 minutes ago and I probably will not get it back till the 31st or maybe even the 1st of November. So I’m kinda hosed here. It’d be nice if I do manage to get back the computer a day before the event ends to play it out and maybe, if I’m exceedingly lucky, try for a weapon skin. I Really wanted that Ghastly Grinning Shield. ;=^{

I was wondering if there was a recipe to make the vendor staff you can buy with candy corn or coin? I’d like to have a perm version of this if possible.

I enjoy playing my class but since I’ve been playing and seeing the great armor sets/pieces there are for other classes I’d thought it would be a neat idea for there to be a transmutation stone that would turn class armor into town clothes items (the exception being cultural armor that should still be culture locked but people can still turn them into town clothes if they are the same race as the armor).
