Patch notes read anywhere that gives ascended mats/items for anybody who hasn’t been paying attention.
That would be champ bags, world boss chests, everything in wvw, dungeon end rewards, fractal ring/weapon rewards, mist essences (aka every enemy in fractals), jumping puzzles and other open world chests (lol wut) etc.
Edit: direct quote
“Ascended weapons can now drop anywhere ascended materials or other ascended items can be found.”

Necros can mass spam blinds and chills, if PvE was better designed they would be pretty bloody useful.
If conditions in PvE were better overall Necros would be pretty useful…
Hell if dredge were blindable they would be so useful in that fractal.
Elementalists have already got that covered with their repeating blind field
There are two professions I refuse to PuG with, Ranger and Necro. After that I judge Engies and Thieves on their AP, too low and they get kicked, too high and they obviously only farm APs so kick too. Seriously I swear the player skill to AP ratio drops off at either end of the scale.
Dunno bout you but on those 20+ mob pulls I would rather see a FGS into the corner than a LH. Necro blind also half the cooldown.

Yeah, the amount of content is not an issue, it’s the fact that doing a run in TM can take more hours than a player is willing to put in at once (this is a problem people who aren’t efficient with their fractal runs also experience). Issues multiple paths of one level would have would be the all _ in 1 run achievs and the fact that the end boss is a daily reward. Multipaths would significantly reduce the content worth doing each day.
Infinite coin is fine, it’ll be usable in future worlds and getting it shows the finance guys that you want more of this content. It’s like supporting an indy game within an mmo. Although even as some1 with the coin I wouldn’t be against any tweak to make it less necessary to run TM.

W1 was a fun, colorful lighthearted and challenging homage. W2 could be but isn’t.
W2 suffers from the “Lets make it as hard as we remember those games being when we were five and sucked at playing video games.”I’ve said it several times in this thread so far but I’ll keep repeating it since I don’t expect anyone to read the whole thing. The design intent was NOT to make Normal Mode as hard as it is. There are a combination of factors that are making it so, and we’re currently working on a fix. We want W2 Normal Mode to be slightly more challenging than W1. There are several obvious difficulty spikes that we are addressing by adding check points, removing the buggy waterspouts, making dart traps easier to spot, removing some of them, etc.
All the complaints about the randomness of the rapids, floaty platforming, camera issues, etc. are things I would literally pay a thousand dollars to fix. Maybe even two. I’d cut my salary if we had a way to fix them. We hate them as much as you do. We simply accept the pain of these engine limitations because we feel like the overall content is worth it. I totally understand if other’s find them too annoying to be able to enjoy the content.
I said earlier, we have a great engine for GW2. But making it do platforming stuff is like getting a powerful heavy elephant to win a horse race. It’s not always pretty. Finding the sweet spot between pushing the boundaries of the engine to create new old-school mechanics and keeping the gameplay perfectly smooth is a constant game of compromise. I’m not claiming we’re perfect at it. But we’re trying. Check back after we get the changes in and see if we addressed most of the difficulty spikes.
I’m really appreciative to have this interchange with you guys. Some of your ideas are going directly into our fix. Though most of the warranted complaints are just a limitation of what we can and can’t do with our engine. (Like making the dart traps knock back instead of kill. That was our initial intent, but there’s no way to make it work.)What you need to do, is this:
Go back to the old ways of pre-Gauntlet. Where achievements were fun and relaxing and easy and interesting. Those were the days. Not this gauntlet, Liadri, Tribulation stuff when it’s just stupidly hard content.
GW2 was so much fun when it was nice and casual.
How dare you make content that is difficult! We must all be able to watch tv, eat popcorn, and play with just wasd and 1!
Sorry, go home, lots of people have been begging for harder content for ages. The only thing making pve not soloable is instances where you have to have people standing at X things.
Necros can mass spam blinds and chills, if PvE was better designed they would be pretty bloody useful.
If conditions in PvE were better overall Necros would be pretty useful…
Hell if dredge were blindable they would be so useful in that fractal.

Question:
Would it be possible that instead of simply reducing the longevity of the next levels, you could divide them in two parts?
I’m thinking of just making a lot of alternate paths and more secrets. That way a casual player can run through the main path with ease and those who want tougher content can opt into it.
Just remember there’s that all baubles in 1 run achiev…
Dont make it easier pls , everything is perfectly soloable, just put a bit effort in your gameplay
all you people singing this refrain are making some huge assumptions. i put everything i have into my gameplay but its not enough.
When you get 1 shot, skill is irrelevant.
When you cannot kite, skill is irrelevant.
When your abilities are on CD, skill is irrelevant.
When Armor and Toughness count for nothing, skill is irrelevant.
When your dodge meter takes longer to refill than it takes the monster to run (faster than you ever can) you down, skill is irrelevant.Maybe you people don’t mind dying all the time. Maybe to you that is part of the fun.
If that is so, I think you are all stupid.
Dying sucks. I do not enjoy it.
I wear full zerker and run thru Orr. I do not get 1 shot.

I think a lot of people failed to realize that when SAB came out 5 months ago it was a side project that was basically just hashed out just in time for April Fool’s day, and a lot of people wanted to see more of it…people complain about Tribulation mode and how hard it is…people complained about the Gambit and how hard Liadri was, and then what happens when after all that time spent beating the Gambit or Tribulation mode? They complain it wasn’t hard enough…..personally I love Tribulation mode, in my mind, it’s an awesome tribute to Cat Mario….maybe it’s just me, I love challenging games…I also like having that weapon, even if it’s just a recolored Super weapon, that many people do not have, why? Because they stepped one foot into Zone 1 and died instantly and said it sucked. Why would you want to play a game that just hands you everything, and all you have to do is just walk around until you reach the end?….that was SAB back in April.
Thread not about tribulation mode, it’s about the increase in difficulty from world 1 to world 2. Much of it being artificial in nature due to server-client de-synching on water parts of world 1 zone 1.

My 2 cents event i’ve already stop gw²
Problem is : solo content for an MMORPG (if you can call sab a content) + force player to farm achievement
If you remove achievement points from living story, you can let player decide to do them or not (same for daily/monthly). Then if too hard for some player, they can avoid it and don’t always moan.
Gj on the rest of update (legendary + mf)
- SAB not solo content. If you can’t manage to laugh when you and your friends get to watch eachother miss jumps and fall to your doom then I pity you.
- In what way, shape, or form are you forced to do the achievements? You WANT to do the achievements to get the AP but nothing of AP is required and there is an infinite supply of AP.
Just gonna cut out the rage and the engursh.
you need Ascended weapons for fractal. Everyone know why.
No, you don’t. 50+ still instant kills at maw.
I’m not sure you know what demagog even means…
(edited by Player Character.9467)
You are the one that has never done fractals. Perhaps if you try listening and learning… Maybe if i use caps…
You start with LOW LEVEL FRACTALS and you can use masterwork gear to beat them. 1-10 LEVEL FRACTALS DONT HAVE AGONY.
AFTER THAT, YOU GET DROPS THAT GIVE YOU AGONY RESISTANCE.
FOR FREE! FREE! FREE! FREE!…
And to what lvl? 45. Is that enought to do high lvl fractals (50 and more)? No it is not!
I will gladly look how you will try to kill maw on 50 lvl with 45 AR without any bug and exploit.
Even with an ascended weapon maw at 50 is still an instant kill.

Not sure if this is intentional or not, but there seems to be spots in water that the game doesn’t ever detect. There was a similar spot that I fell into in world 1 zone 3’s poison water, a small corner that I lived in during tribulation mode but I had to step into the poison water that would kill me to get anywhere. Maybe some coordinates are off by a bit?
Edit: I also just did the log raft section and the raft never got to the waterfall, I just got a loading screen in the middle of a flat section. Which I’m entirely fine with because I had 2 hearts left and got the achiev for surviving the raft ride (Solo, which should say something about whether or not assassin’s require a 5man team. Altho I might be a bad example as I had to be the one to get the gong >.<).

Please give the Evil Armor some claws, it looks so naked!
Maybe you could also fix the skirt on males so it isn’t so poofy and make it better.
You do understand ur wearing PLANTS right?
The skins are dropping pretty regularly from chests in SAB.
That’s a new one. I never got a single skin drop in the first SAB run and I did open many chests :/
The glorious chests at the end of each boss fight has a chance of dropping a skin. 3 of the 5 people in my party (including me!) got a skin from the first zone
If it’s same as before, it’s ~2% chance.
Only thing that needs changing imo is the skullcrack from 3 to 2 secs, match it with the earthshaker that’s already 2 sec stun.
How about you slot Stability instead.
Stability is the most fundamental PvP boon, if you run without it you are begging to die.
erm as a mesmers i gotta ask…which stability? the mantra one?try using a mantra in a fight. plus being stunlocked to death there wont be time to react with anything at all. so mesmers have no counter to a cc warrior at all.
except just blinking away…
The moment a Warrior is on the defensive he has lost.
I assume you’re commenting on 1v1. In group combat the lack of sustain you’re talking about would be why a warrior has to go defensive. Peel out, breaking combat in small groups or regrouping on a waterfield in large groups.
The moment a mindless Warrior dies he has rallied enemies.
No matter if you spent gold or farmed mats, that’s still gold lost either way since you could have sold those mats for roughly the same amount that one who spent gold would have used. That’s why when I say I spent 30g in gold and 20g in mats to get 450, I basically consider it the same as spending 50 gold.
Well, you can only sell for 85% of what you buy for.
.#3 would likely lead to another dungeon featuring an early boss that people just rush to and leave.
edit: # at the start of a line makes a numbered list…
I hate to be that guy, but I think this is a skill issue and not a general gameplay issue. You said that if people want a challenge, they have their dungeons/legendaries. But what about the people who want a challenging solo experience? Whenever I change my gear/spec, the first thing I do is go practice in Orr. Like others have posted, even the veterans can be taken down solo with a little bit of finesse and caution not to pull the entire zone.
Nerfing this zone would kill a part of the game that is unique, and I personally don’t want to play a game where every zone is the same difficulty.
One final counterpoint is that nerfing the zone could have a drastic effect on the in game economy. If everyone can go to Orr and easy-mode farm mats, then that will affect the value of those mats on the broker.
If the zone is too challenging, stick to the easier zones until you get enough practice to manage in this one.
Firstly, I’m not strictly talking about nerfing Orr specifically. What I am talking about is an overall scaling of events throughout the game so that solo players can do events in dead zones.
Orr keeps coming up as an example, so I am using it as an example, but it is not the focus of my request, just one possible example of many.
Events already do scale and [Group Events] are already soloable.
This could be a good idea for a ’’hard’’ mode dungeon, making the runs much more lucrative (2-3 times) as much in comparsion to a normal run.
Hard mode would consist of the following.
-No Waypoints to res at if you die
-Trash mob damage is increased, but HP is decreased
-Entrance fee (40-50s maybe?)
-A full wipe kicks you out of the dungeon and you’d lose your fees
-Boss animations would be sped up so that you’ll need to act faster (25-30% speedup or something along those lines)This way you’ll get the lucrative and difficult dungeons while keeping the normal ones, allowing players to choose which type of run they’d do.
Excuse me for my broken english, i’m not fully awake yet.
In a way this sounds a lot like the Queen’s Gauntlet (RIP) and we know how well that turned out in the end.
Well if they bother to make it less stupidly easy for specific builds then it would pay out to good players instead of gimmicks.
So… specific builds = gimmicks? And those who use said gimmicks are therefore bad players?
Pressing 5, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 5, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1 on my thief is hard?
I had more then 100 gold and tons of materials. Now i am at 466 and i have nothing! No gold, no material just nothing!
I start to play this game becouse it was supposed to be without that farming/grinding time wasting boring thing. And what do i have to do now? Farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm farm, farm, farm, farm, craft, farm, farm, farm farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm.
I am seriosly consicering quiting the game becouse they are doing exactly what they sworn to never do!No ones forcing you to craft ascended so..
No i am forced becouse i need them for fractals and chance to drop them is so low that noone can rely on it. So?
You dont need them for fractals at all, stop crying because you want a handout.
You know nothing about fractals. I need it! Withou high enoght AR you can not do 50+ fractals. YOU NEED ASCENDED WEAPONS FOR FRACTALS!
No you DO NOT.
You don’t need em, just use strafe exploit as seen in video. Lol terrible example
Dodging = exploit? Wow you musta CoF P1’ed a few too many times.
That website doesn’t account for any of the ascended material refinements. Starting at 450 you can craft the mats that go into making the ascended weapon and those will also give you craft exp. Also none of gw2craft.net factors in using a crafting booster.
(edited by Player Character.9467)
From what I understand, you can hit 425 really easily and 450 without too much effort/gold. But the 450-500 is either expensive (~100g) or time gated. My thoughts are most people will opt for the slower method, rather than burning through all their gold and mats on day 2 of the patch.
It’s not hitting the kitten number that;‘s the problem. It’s that the kittens wiped out ALL exotic recipes we discovered. LOADS of ectos kitten ed down the drain for us. I had almost all the kitten recipes. Now they are gone. And I sure aint getting them back with the 27 god kitten ectos I have left now. And yo sure know the aholes aren’t going to refund us the cost of all those discoveries they wiped out.
And ectos have doubled in price since they did this.
Discoveries didn’t cost you anything and the ecto price isn’t going up for discoveries…
They expect people to take around 2 weeks per weapon. So that is around 35 fragments/dragonite/bloodstone dust per day. So that is around 2 temples and 2 dungeon runs per day. If you are killing the champs rather than skipping everything in dungeons then you should be getting enough of the dust as well.
For folks not into running fractals, you could try doing a tour of the chests dotted around the PVE zones – I hit maybe 70% of the ones listed on the wiki, and came away with 114 fragments. It is small numbers though – between 1-4 fragments, so together with jumping puzzles it will still take a few days to gather 500.
Do you have a link to the specific wiki you are referring to for these PVE chests?
so… three to four hours of gameplay every day? Of stuff not everyone wants to do?
2 temples and 2 dungeon = 4 hours for you?
2 dungeon runs is what? 30 minutes total? and the same for the temples at the most

Here is a suggestion, please create third mode… like infantile, but with the principle of “help on demand” rather than having it shoved in my face. Being someone who had 0 need for infantile mode before the notorious water sprouts in W2 Z1 I would really appreciate the ability to get helping hand when I hit a brick wall not have to choose to either go through the level on rails, or keep slamming my head against that wall.
You CAN choose, hop off the rails.
- It’s unnecessarily difficult to climb up the icy slopes. If you slide down even the tiniest amount you can’t gain the momentum back and need to slide all the way down before you can start climbing again.
all the sizable slopes had bits of land along them for you to use to regain momentum.

I find it a little funny that the full run gets you 12 bubble baubles plus a few extra from baubles but a full run of TM is 1 weapon per day per world. Lol.
I think it would add to the atmosphere a bit if they have the character equipped with their light source in that area.

most of the time (like I think the last flower jump in World 2 Zone 1, right before the boss) you don’t have a choice. The only place to land is past the second flower, however there’s not enough space there, so you’ll be landing right next to the second one.
Did you try it? Please take a screenshot and show us where you think you must land.
You can definitely land on the ledge beside the flower. Somebody needs to aim better.

All the water in general seems a little hypersensitive. I’ve had quite a few deaths in TM where it was just the server thinking I walked right off the edge even tho I can hear and see my character jump, then poof dead mid air and drop.

Press 4…
2x water
2x monk
2x maj sanct/sup.speed/sup.fire
40% boon duration for my Might stacks/Stability and perma Swift/Fury is all I need from runes.2x sup. traveller for boon duration now!
Sure, if you want to pay that much for more swiftness…
Signet + Banner is already perma without boon duration. So is Signet + Warhorn.
Wow that is running at like 50x speed and it still takes like 6 minutes. That must have taken like a year in real time.
It’s like 2x speed and the video is 3.5 minutes long…
I dunno, 20 per dungeon run doesn’t seem bad to me. If you really wanted to grind out an ascended weapon, it wouldn’t be hard to do 25 dungeon runs in a few days, and for everyone else the 2 week estimate is eminently reasonable. And for people who’d rather zerg, the way you can with meta events for dragonite, there’s wvw camps and towers.
We shouldn’t have to do dungeons to make it acceptably efficient – 2-3 jumping puzzles that take 30-45 min to complete should be equivalent to a dungeon path. Honestly, it’s all low – doing a dragon event that take 10-15 min (or less) gives you 15-30ish fragments, but the same time in a JP gives you 2-6? This is coming off as complaining, I know, but when 2 of the 3 items are reasonable to obtain and then the 3rd takes 5-10x as long…it’s prob because JP’s / dungeons are my least favorite thing to do (of course…) I guess I might give WvW towers a shot.
JP’s don’t take as long as jormag…
LOL did he just say fractals is rewarding?
“We aren’t looking at making a hard mode, just at making some dungeon paths harder.”
How is that less bad? You want to make some paths so ONLY hardcore players can do them instead of making everything available in some form to everyone?
Why does he think it’s so hard for a guild to get together and do something? He must not know about gw2lfg if he thinks it’s already too hard to get a 5man together… GUILD Wars 2, where you can only run with your guild is wvw… at least until the fight becomes “Mash 1 and target closest”
(edited by Player Character.9467)
… where does wvw have asura soccer/football?…
Well that’s the thing. You HAVE to run a condition build to stand a chance against it. it destroys any other kind of build. That’s why everyone is running conditions now. Not that i’m complaining. I’m having a blast with my S/S condition warrior.
That’s really funny because the mace/shield gs warrior is actually the counter to the condi necro due to their lack of stability. Also they’re spamming f1 and have dogged march/lemongrass/melandru or hoelbrak.
Next patch
FGS 4 no longer works with lightning flash
FGS 4 no longer works without a target
Healing signet alone is… ok-ish.
It only becomes truly interesting when paired with adrenal healing and possibly some +healing gear and as much toughness as you can (signet scales like doo doo, adrenal healing scales pretty decently)
Uh… it scales with the same healing per second per healpower that the other warrior heals do.
Healing signet +0.05*healpower/s
Healing surge +1.5*healpower/30s = +0.05*healpower/s
Mending +1.0*healpower/20s = +0.05*healpower/s
The one above your minimap? I’m pretty sure that does stay…
Crafting backpieces? That exists… how did quivers/books get skipped in this thread?
