Says you. Ton of posts about this issue seem to suggest however, that it is a problem to others.
Says logic.
You’re calling an appeal to majority fallacy here.Lots of posts about the issue suggests that lots of people are incorrectly perceiving an issue where none exists. The daily AP isn’t the issue, but rather the perception by players of what the daily AP is intended to do.
The daily AP is intended to help get people to log in and be active every day, preferably in areas that need better metrics so things can look good for the bosses.
If you think the boxes here are bad, you should see how Champions Online does them. Not that the ones here aren’t horrible.
So it makes sense to make the game appeal to the casual players, simplifying it because those are the people more likely to pay.
It is the other way around. The game was DESIGNED to appeal to casuals, and the business model was (smartly) adapted as a consequence.
Think about it: hardcore-focused MMOs are all subscription based. GW2, from the start, wanted to be a game you don’t feel compelled to play, that’s why they added the cash shop instead of a subscription.
And then they worked the dailies to try and compel you to play.
Dailies aren’t compelling anymore unless you are an AP junkie. The rewards are just a cookie and not a feast. They’ve restructured them to appeal to players in each type of play mode and still, in PvE, steer players into maps and regions they may not have gone yet and in PvP to play certain professions (although this latest change now makes it easier due to the A or B profession daily).
I get AP for the armor skins, which I can’t get any other way. I wouldn’t care about the total otherwise, and certainly wouldn’t do dailies if they weren’t in there.

Daily AP is capped, if you miss it one day. You can get it the next.
You realize how long it takes to get to the cap, yes?
I think it takes over four years, if you start fresh. No one is taking that long an outlook on things.
Thanks for keeping us updated.
A while back, there was a thread going on discussing what options for Mail Carriers that people wanted/were willing to buy. One suggestion was a Quaggan hanging from a balloon flying in a dropping your mail. 5 months after that post, we were blessed with the most amazing mail carrier in game. Being the person who made that suggestion, I stared at the animation and enjoyed it enough to go and buy it from the gem store.
I think it would be a good PR move to give players who suggest things such as these a free version of it and give them some recognition. While I suggested the Quaggan Mail Carrier, I am not saying I want fame or anything… its more that if something is used that was suggested by a player, if that player gets recognition, it feels more that ArenaNet is actually listening to suggestions from the community and may actually encourage others who may have some fantastic ideas out there.
My recognition to you will be pushing you off a cliff or something, since the only good quaggan related things are dead ones.
The PvE dailies are probably the hardest to complete. I think Anet purposefully did it so people would venture into PvP or WvW more. It’s kinda silly I can do PvP or WvW in 5 minutes and PvE actually takes effort to do.
I’ve never seen any of them to really be all that difficult. PvP dailies are the fastest because you have the custom servers dedicated strictly for them. Some WvW dailies, such as tower, keep, or even kills, take time unless you get lucky and hop into the map when one or such combination is going on.
The PvE map events can be completed within 10 minutes on any map if you use the wiki or have prior knowledge where they are. Sometimes faster if you get lucky as I have completed the Queensdale kne in about a minute or so before. World Bosses rarely take much time to do the pre events and to kill.
The only time consuming daily for PvE would be the tier specific fractal which is then dependent on how capable your party is. If your team is horrible, then yes, you can take over an hour to do a fractal set. I personally have been against having the tiered fractal daily as it is restrictive when you have the 20’s one which you need AR for (generally speaking).
The only changes that I would suggest would be to remove the daily fractal one which only requires you to complete a single fractal such as swamp. This is a redundant achievement. You then alter the existing tiered fractal to not be tiered. You then add a daily that either cycles through dungeon (any path + story) or between Explorable and story modes but you can choose whichever dungeon that you’d like to do.
Event completion can take a while if you don’t get to the events before they are quickly wiped out. Even if you are there enemies are often obliterated as they spawn in by the packs of overgeared level 80s.
On world bosses its not so much how much time it takes to do them, but how long you have to wait for them to start. Get on at the wrong time and you could be waiting two or more hours just for the pre-events to start, which possibly means you don’t get to do it at all if you can’t be on when it rolls around.
Excuse me. I do not daily go and look at vistas. I do not gather daily. and if it weren’t for the daily system I wouldn’t enter WvW or PvP.
I do Fractals everyday. Please explain how the daily is catered to me as a player.
The current daily system is flawed and needs a rework.
Either by being replaced by the old generic dailys
Or being reworked into a comprehensive challenge list that gives all players a chance to receive a decent reward for content a bit harder than just looking at a vista
Stop being so content with getting 10 AP. What does 10 AP do for you? Nothing.
The daily should be there to give some sort of tangible reward that leads to something good. Right now, the AP chests hardly ticks that box.
The AP chests certainly aren’t great, but I would like some of the armor skins in them. That is the only reason I do the dailies.
What we are left with is a system that offers the 10 AP for mostly doing things that you might otherwise do and for some stretch goals.
What many of us are left with is a system that offers 10 AP for mostly doing things we would never do unless we were in the area already, or would never do at all if there were better choices.
I can do without two hours of live action Trahearne.
I’ve always gotten the feeling that the dailies are largely there to buff up their metrics for certain content.
Plenty of people run dungeons, so they aren’t on the list. Fractals though? Lets get those numbers up.
Having world bosses with long timers, unpopular activities, the mess that is people fighting for event credit in zone of the day, and fractals on the pve list gets people unwilling, or unable, to do them to slip into WvW or PvP to get the daily done, no matter how much they dislike them, which gets those numbers up.
We have a whole Dungeon/Fractal community on the forums that I’m not even a part of crying out for new content and they are being completely ignored.
We have some exceptional PvE players that run Dungeons and Fractals with such ease and speed it really shows how this games mechanics work. Yet they are completely sidelined for the majority of players that spend 30 mins and $$$$ on the game to look pretty spamming 1 at Shadow Behemoth every day.
Because those are the ones bring in the profits, and Anet is here to make money. Its a business first, game second. The highly skilled dungeon runners and farmers aren’t the ones buying gems, as they tend to have enough gold to covert to gems when they want something.
Well its like that game called rl, when one old(veteran) person(player) leaves it, a new person (player) comes into the world and the second oldest generation of the world slowly starts to take the position of the oldest generation.
And so is the cycle of life.
Not the best of analogies. We don’t get to pick our RL, we are all forced to play the same one.
A game that can’t retain its older community will get a reputation for such, and will draw in less new players when they hear the turnover rate.
My engineer can’t wear outfits because she needs her glasses to see properly.
Can’t she use her utility goggles?
One can not peer at people disapprovingly over goggles. You need elegant glasses for that.
I just have it bound to my thumb button on my mouse, it’s easy. I feel like this is more of an l2p problem than an ANet problem.
Its a quality of life issue.
If its an easy change to make it a toggle, there is no reason not to do it.
I’d really rather not have gear inspections. Nothing good will come of it.
As for dueling, as long as I’m set to auto-reject all duel challenges by default, I don’t care.
My engineer can’t wear outfits because she needs her glasses to see properly.
There are so many achievements that are no longer available that it is straight up impossible to catch up.
Stop kittening about this one, if you really must do only PvE for your daily and hate Fractals that much, then just skip the 10 AP points for the day…trust me, you won’t die. Otherwise, just suck it up and do 1 lvl 1 Fractal then quit complaining…and this is from someone that only does Fractals when they are part of the Daily…because I don’t care for them, nor any other Dungeon for that matter. This really does display a sense of entitlement on some peoples part, it’s been part of the new Daily rotation since it was implemented, obviously it’s intended.
Quite entitled of people to want to have fun while playing a game they paid for.
Fractals are dungeons instances so why don’t they also have other dungeons as part of the daily. What is so special about fractals that it requires two in one daily. Not everyone in the game likes fractals or wvw or even pvp so that pretty much makes it impossible to complete dailies.
They are pretty desperate to get people into fractals, it seems. I guess it shows just how few people are doing them if they feel they need to double up on the dailies to get people to run them.
i think it’d be easier to bring back the bunny ears for a week than to spend time making new character models or checking animations for scaled minipets to make sure they dont preform oddly or anything
I rather have them spend their time on permanent content than temporary gem store skins.
I’m willing to bet the gemstore team is separate from the other content teams, since its a big part of their income.
I know ranger is getting staff, but I’d love to see warriors get it at some point…and hit people with it.
I’d be down for this as long as ghosts other appropriate enemies are immune to direct damage as well.
I know i’m just being picky but is there anyone else that kinda hates the gap between the back and weapons/back items of a male Norn?
I think we all have that. Its just more noticeable on some than on others.
No..for an mmo and for the CONSTANT demands and expectations of an mmo that IS a micro team. For a single player that’s an OK team…but even then not that big.
The vast majority of f2p mmo’s have developer employee numbers barely in the 10’s, let alone the hundreds
Unless you’re Dota, Starcraft, League or Smite.
None of those are MMOs.
Race decides where you start, but you can hit the portals pretty easily to meet up after the quick tutorial, if you want to play different races.
I think that the Black Lion should re-sell the Candy Corn Gobbler Pack.
That is seasonal. Seasonal items tend to be saved for the appropriate holidays, I believe.
Updated? More like olddated.
Because they get bumped every day and we have multiple ones being bumped everyday.
If its that much of an issue the mods can merge/lock as needed. But like other threads this will likely keep up until there is a real response.
I am not annoyed that people want this skin back in the gem store, I am annoyed by the way they go about it.
Why keep coming in here then, if it bothers you so much? Its doesn’t affect you either way.
No she said she doesn’t know either because they don’t tell her in advance.
Then they need to step up and give her something to communicate, which is her job. This is not a difficult thing for them to do. They’ve had an exceedingly long time to respond. The least they can do is give a straight answer.
We aren’t asking for something outrageous. We aren’t asking for something that will be a lot of work for them. We aren’t asking to be given it for free.
Yes but communicate only the official word from upon high. She has no knowledge of the schedule of those that need to be involved to add an item to the wardrobe as a skin and then adding it to the store for sale.
So all she can say is maybe someday since there is no “official” never or soon.
Which is why I said they need to do something about it and give her something to tell us.
“Yes, we are planning to work on that/have it scheduled.” or “No, we aren’t going to do it.” If they can’t manage that in six months they shouldn’t be running a MMO.

No, your (collective group) asking is getting old. It’s not in the wardrobe. It’s never been sold as anything but town clothes. It disappeared from the store with the rest of the town clothes well over a year ago. At what point does 16+ months of no word means no to you?
The last words we got were maybe.
I don’t know for sure that it will happen, but I’ve seen items come through from time to time. I agree with you that this is a particularly cute item. Keep your eye on the store and maybe they will make a reappearance!
Its not too much to ask, when customers are asking for the ability to give you money for something you have an infinite supply of, to at least give them a straight answer.
Have Bunny Ears and the few glasses players are asking for ever been released post elimination of town clothes? If not that’s why we aren’t seeing them as they haven’t made the translation to armor skins.
those items arent available in the wardrobe, they wont come back
Then they need to come out and say that instead of being all wishy washy and noncommittal with their answers.
Some makeup and lacy undergarments and people will be flocking to those dungeons.
You’ll take your longcoats and you’ll like them!
Longcoats for days.
How else would they test AFKing in HoT?
I have an asura and a charr, but I don’t do much of anything with them. The rest are all humans, including my main. Never been big on short races and charr and norn are just too large to really work for me. Sylvari…even if I did like how they looked, I don’t want any relation to Trahearne.
Bunny ears? you wanna look like a playboy bunny girl or something? as if the outfits aren’t exposing enough to make girl characters look like prostitutes, adding bunny ears will be the cherry on the top of the cake.
Some of us just think they look cute. Its not always about sex.
First: good idea, supported.
Second, just while we’re at it… I’d like to have a few pieces of information about the guy who welcomes me every time i log in by kicking my cute grey asuran behind 10m through the air.
The dreaded… Legendary Royal Terrace Greeter. Whose name shall henceforth not be uttered anymore.
For a start,
- which stocks did he invest in?
- where does he sleep?
- where does his wife work?
- where do his children play?
Hey, he’s just training for the asura punting event.
No, but can I interest you in a mini pet or new outfit instead?
groans…
ducks Sorry, couldn’t resist.
No, but can I interest you in a mini pet or new outfit instead?
I don’t know why people actually expect answers.
Don’t get me wrong, I want these too, but vague answers are all we’ll get as Anet seems to have quite the aversion to giving out actual information, never mind committing to things ahead of time.
How difficult is it to not swear? Its text, not like it can accidentally slip out, you have to put it in there on purpose.
My magitech skirt still clips through my ranger’s thighs and it was introduced what, almost two years ago? This is hardly unusual.
Just go commando.
The male version looks good. Gives you nice window that says “please stab me here, I hate it when my vital organs go unperforated!”
Working as intended. More gold and timesink to keep players busy replacing their gear.
The job-o-tron backpack needs to be added to this. They have a slider for player instruments, they can add one for this.
