Its really just another attempt to reduce their fellow players to a simple number for their convenience. Why talk to people about what you are going to do together when you can use a meaningless number to screen some of them out?
Scythes make for horrible weapons. Most other farming implements are far more effective.
Rake, hoe, pitchfork, shovel, spade. All are more combat capable.
The only thing that fears a scythe is wheat.
Yeah, I’ve got over 9k AP and almost never do dungeons, and have only been in a few. They aren’t all that fun or rewarding, and don’t have enough friends left to run them with.
More original classes?
Death Knights are anything but that. More overused and worn out.
Its just done that way to encourage buying rushes. People who would wait instead jump to buy it right now cause who know when it will appear again.
Hurry hurry, buy it now! Don’t think about it, just buy it before its gone!
Not really fond of the wings myself. They look so bulky and lifeless.
This just makes me miss the wings in CoH.
Yes, you have to buy them if you weren’t around to unlock them during their release week.
The story isn’t too bad, and the rewards are okay.
As if AP rankings actually matter.
I have one of each class, many at 80, but I do near everything on my ranger.
Its one thing to use the word, its another to carbon copy the class.
Besides, we already have a pet class and they refuse to fix our pets. We don’t need another.
I’m pretty sure Squareenix would have something to say if they tried that.
I see no reason for legendaries to be more special than they already are.
I consider the end of dragon ball a feature.
I agree, we need dye collections.
Why? Do you want the cost of dyes on the TP to go even higher?
well now we havent had a proper explanation about gliding, just some minor show off on twitch, so we dont really know if the cant be skinned yet. and come on anets love of skinning and not make gliders skinnable just seems stupid :P
Gemstore gliders, coming soon.
Completed? ;o
“Hi, my name is Darkgloom Puppykicker. Why yes, I AM evil, thanks for noticing!”
I feel bad for the roleplaying part of the community myself.
The incoming flood of dark angels and half tengu are coming.
FINALLY AFTER 2 LONG YEARS WINGS ARE HERE, OH MY GOD… i hope the wings are dye-able?
I think the word ‘Black’ in the item name should dispel any false prospects of that.
thats bad..
please anet, make it dyeable…. doesn’t make sense to have black wings only…
That will never happen.
One, I don’t think any backpacks are dyeable.
Two, this way they can sell us various other colored wings separately.
Not…sure what the problem is here. Maybe I’m just missing it, but the screenshot looks like you are just staring at a rock wall.
Please tell me it’s not going to be easy to get, so that not every single person in the game will have one and ruin it. I am hoping its really hard to get and makes you work for it. Please ANET don’t ruin them. T__T
What do you think (or know) is going to happen with them.
Other people having things ruins them?
At the very least, if a guild wants 100% of your rep they should be able to meet 100% of your guild type needs.
Only fair.
Not really.
Toxic behaviour is proportional to dependence on other players.
This dependence is low in GW2, and the community is decent because of that.If your fun in a game depends on others, you are much more, lets say, critical towards them. Which in turn snowballs fast into toxic behaviour.
Mobas are toxic hellholes because your game depends on 4 other people not kittening up.
Or you screwing up and blaming it on four other people.
Do you not enjoy being a hobo in your home instance? Stealing laundry and chopping down trees in the park?
The matchmaking in that minigame is the best.
If you need credit for grabbing the powerups for achievements though, its the best time to do it as you don’t need to share.
craft them up with artificer is your solution.
Would an additional UI option to use all be nice sure, just don’t go to auto consume as that punishes people who use them in crafting.
Don’t see why it would be so hard to add a “use all” option in the right click menu, with a prompt that asks if you really want to use all.
This gives us the feature we want, with a built in fail safe for those who could possibly mess it up
Don’t get me wrong, I want this oh so much, but every day people still salvage stuff they mean to keep, even with the warnings on rares and exotics.
I’m only comparing the scenario that one group felt what they did was the right thing, when in reality, everyone despised them for it. A similar example would be the Spanish Inquisition. Or Christopher Columbus stealing the native American’s lands.
Edit – One more well known example would be the reason why Moses opposed the Pharaoh, and why he parted the Red Sea.
Are you really comparing historical events that involved death, suffering, and torture with the slight inconvienece of missing an event?
That is just…special.
The core theme is the same. You have two different groups, with opposing viewpoints. But the majority supported the “correct” side.
No, the majority don’t care as its irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. We quietly move on if there is no steam ogre and do something else.
Its the loud, noisy, lootkitten minority that go on and on about how its not fair that they can’t get their precious bags.

kitten it. When are they gonna but the bunny ears back in there?
People keep going on about this being inconsiderate and selfish.
How many of you hold back when going after the steam ogre, or any champ, instead of burning it down as fast as you can so that everyone can get credit for it?
Still, its just a champ bag. A bag with abysmally low odds of anything worthwhile being in it. People need to get over the thought of maybe having one less that day.
Its not important. The loot really isn’t that important.
Its just an event.
If you did the work to get a key you can use it when you want. There is no notice when you use it telling you its the “wrong time”. If it was, Anet would have put it in there.
Much like any other example of it, the need people seem to have for controlling certain events is ridiculous. If your day can be ruined so badly by people completing content, you have problems.
You shouldn’t need permission from everyone else to do the kitten events.
I’m happy to post what I know, but some is reiteration:
- A dev checked the drop rate and the item did drop and continues to drop at the anticipated rate. Actually, he said it was dropping a little more generously than anticipated, but at no time was it dropping a less than the planned rate.
more generously than anticipated sounds like mockery to me :/
I am not going to open ten thousands of bags which contain what feels like 99,999% of worthless junk
Gotta keep people grinding that content for stuff, even for things that have little to no effect on the game. The longer it takes the more value the game has, right?
If your guild is so small that you cant even complete a tier 1 bounty (which awards 15 merits), you’ve probably got less than 5 people in your guild. My bank guild has bounty training unlocked already, and I’ve simply spent gold on the influence to get there.
I think I have all categories up to rank four.
At this point I have two active members, myself and my friend. Two occasionally active members, and maybe three others that pop in every few months.
We used to have twenty at best, with maybe 4-8 active at any given time, all friends that came here after CoH was killed. Most of them have gone elsewhere due to dissatisfaction with the game, sadly.
Not everyone has access to guild commendations.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Guild_Merits#Architecture
You dont need commendations. You can use merits and influence. Though, to be fair, if you have merits and influence, you have commendations.
Kinda a similar issue. Us smaller guilds can’t get merits at all.
Not that I’m against it, but do you often find yourself needing to craft in the field? Heading back to town always seemed easy enough.
There’s no ascended tier because there are other ascended back items already available to be crafted. The craftable back items introduced with the NPE stuff were meant to be for those who aren’t level 80 (hence why the top tier of those back pieces is 78 and not 80).
There are also already portable crafting stations. You can buy http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Guild_Weapon_Stations and http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Guild_Armor_Stations
Not everyone has access to guild commendations.

Oh, it needs changes.
The daily encourages feeding and there is no incentive to stay in a match you are losing, so often enough half or more of the enemy team will bail once they see they can’t win, if they are in it for the wins.
Its quite the wait for the end of a match if you have no one left to kill.
I’d like new sitting emote. The way my character sits is just stupid and really uncomfortable looking.
I just realized how rarely I do jumping puzzles these days. And I love jumping puzzles! Back when they were in the rotation for dailies I had an extra excuse to leave WvW or farming world bosses and go jump around for a bit. I feel that bringing jp dailies back into the rotation for the pve category would be a great thing. Right now I doubt that many new players are seeking out jumping puzzles as much as if there was occasionally a daily incentive.
Yes, I find I dont do nearly as many as I used to now
Tbh, Id be surprised if new players had even heard of them since the death of the Daily.
Jumping puzzles are too confusing for new players.
Myeh.
The Shatterer should just encase everyone on the safe spot every so often. Plenty of crystals then.
It might be more fun if feeding wasn’t encouraged by the game and there was an incentive to stay in games you can’t win.
Its the only trait that makes me dread the sight of water.
The big difference is that in RNG loot you can’t eliminate targets, it’s always the same random possibility, in this system you can. And about run around Tyria exploring places, yep, that’s the ideia.
I’ve already done that. Not going to be all that fun to do it again just to find some remote hiding spots and hope its the one I need.
you are sooooo going to hate doing dungeons with me then !!!!!
That is rather unrelated to this topic. its not about spamming in combat.
Some people REALLY don’t like roleplayers and will do anything they can to bother them with no provocation needed. Since they can’t attack them, power spamming, emote spamming, and being a general pain are usually the tactics used.
I saw it in CoH, I see it in CO, I see it here.
And mind you, in the first two most of the RPers are/were in RP specific areas with no other use, so people went out of their way to bother them.
If a guild needs to require people to rep, they are doing it wrong.
A good guild will be engaging, helpful and fun enough that people will want to rep it most of the time. Requiring it just shows how little effort the leaders want to put into retaining their members, and possibly a fear that if they allow multirepping their members will find better guilds to be in.
You don’t own your members or their leisure time.
Allowing people to be in multiple guilds is one of my favorite features in this game, even if I don’t have much chance to take advantage of it, and rather needed since you can’t put individual characters in unrelated guilds on their own.
I wish my longbow ranger became this overpowered whenever I have to risk WvW for my dailies.
“Not for laurels.”
A lot of folks don’t get that part because their only perspective is their own. They like or are at least ambivalent towards the task that yields the shiny. Everyone wants and can use laurels. Daily APs are less relevant as there’s an eventual wall for dailies (I don’t know if this event’s APs are included in the 15k cap or not, though).
The bottom line is that this is a PvP minigame set in a PvE environment. For those that like PvP it means more in-game money (through envelopes and laurel value) with absolutely no downside other than whatever annoyances DB may inherently have for everyone. For those that either don’t like PvP or don’t like these sorts of hyperactive mini-games and aren’t inclined to “game the game” by AFKing or otherwise screwing the intent, it’s a pain in the posterior and requires either giving up the benefits or grinding your teeth and doing the only thing ANet has seen fit to provide as a means to the end.
Everyone has a choice to do or not to do. The problem is that most, if not all, of the reason for doing anything in this and likely all MMOs is linked directly to the reward. In this case, the reward is universally attractive. The means to it isn’t. And it isn’t surprising that tying the entire event to a PvP-style minigame is going to divide the player base.
Sorry, but that’s still a poor argument. “I want the reward but I don’t like what I have to do to get it! WAAH”
What we’re talking about is opportunity cost analysis. Is the reward worth the effort to you? If you answered yes, congratulations! You deserve to get the reward. If you answered no, go find something else to do that is worthwhile to you, and stop whining about things you don’t have the will to complete.
What effort?
The effort it takes to stand in the game and feed kills to the enemy team while you do nothing, ruining it for the people that actually want to play?
Cause you dun need to win to get the laurel.
This is quite possibly the worst thought out event minigame, at least when you take the dailies into account. People feed for daily credit and bail from games they can’t win because there is no incentive to stay and finish the match. Not to mention farming the interrupt achievement, which makes for poor play due to how risky using that skill can be.
Rare are the matches I play where the teams are anywhere near closely matched in score.
I demand hugs for my portals. Or baked goods. I’m easy.
People would abuse the crap out of this.
