I’m kind of concerned about if all that healing will be at all useful outside of raids, for PvE anyway. I’d hate to see one of the main focuses of our elite spec be of such limited use.

Druid and Druid Staff Thoughts?

Pockets.3201

Honestly I feel like we may have some kind of summoning with the staff, and I think if anything their may be a mix of close range and long range like many of the weapons the ranger has.

That would actually be nice!

The one thing ranger needs the least is more braindead AI minions.

Didn’t you hear? Druids are getting Trahearne as a pet.

I thought they were going for a traditional type ranger, like Aragorn. He mainly used swords and his bow.

He actually didn’t use a bow in the books. But yeah.

I’d take being a pokemon ranger over what we have now. At least pokemon would be more useful than our current pets.

Outfits instead of armor skins

Expect to see armor skins return via the BL merchant. Which means you will be able to get the skins either through BL tickets or the TP same as weapon skins.

Terrible idea (not that I think you are advocating it). I’d rather just have them on the gem store.

It would be, but recent actions lean towards that. From a finical standpoint it makes sense or at least the concept does. Keeping them in the gem store would require a constant flow of new ones to continue to draw sales, simply alternating them is good for burst sales but the end remains the same.

However adding them for tickets allows 2 avenues for income, playing on people’s will to gamble or buying it with converted gems or earned gold., It also gives better price control since they can modify key or ticket/scrap drop rate while still keeping scarcity in check due to RNG and influence key sales, if that fails increase ticket cost or simply rotate.

The downside however is that it will probably mean inflated gold prices on high value items and gems.

Just a guess though. Guess we will see,

That sounds horrible. Not quite CO horrible yet, but still pretty horrible.

Depends on the leadership, really.

Some put in the effort, to get things organized and keep it that way. Some can’t be bothered. And some just want the position for the so called authority that comes with it.

A month without any reply at all on this from Anet most likely means they’re not going to say anything and keep it under the rug until people stop posting. It saddens me to see this behaviour from them, but it’s not like it’s the first time either.

People will keep posting until Anet finds some other topic to combine it with to hide it. I know I’ll keep asking for answers every now and then.

Article About to GW2 Dev Communication

I think the article was both good and bad. On the one hand the author was right in that the communication between devs and players in some areas is poor but to write a balanced article the author totally missed the fact that the devs do a good job responding in some areas like story not to mention Gaile Gray does an excellent job on the forums.

Been playing online games for many a year now and even though ANet is not perfect they are much better than any of my previous games in my experience. I also love the fact that we actually see them in the game from time to time as well. Or the fact that they join WvW guilds during tournaments.

So I feel there is an element of truth in this article but it was poorly constructed imho. A better article would’ve pointed out the bad and good and if they had the word space to compare and contrast with other online gaming companies as well.

I have yet to see a good side to their communication, such as it is. We can’t even get an answer out of them on why karma boosters were stripped out of the multiboosters we own, with no warning. That issue, along with many others, is still being ignored as far as I know.

Plenty of responses to fluff posts though.

The worst thing a gaming company can do is to give a fix or reason why on something and later change their minds on it. Almost everything is always in iteration until it gets the seal of approval. At which point we are then informed. It is always better to say nothing than to say something your going to later regret.

The article was also pretty biased and sounded like a writer who got denied the chance at regular interaction with ANet and decided to take his frustrations out with this article. Oh wait…

When you take something away from your players you better have a kitten good reason for doing it to give to them. If they weren’t sure they were going to keep it that way they shouldn’t have made the change until they were.

Precursor prices after expansion

It’s going to depend on what’s involved in crafting a precursor. If we need lots of expensive and/or time gated materials and tasks, they’ll probably remain high and in demand.

Also Anet can change prices somewhat by increasing supply.

At this rate I’m expecting it to require something you need to grind raids for.

There are lots of things that are “time sensitive” rewards. That’s what makes them special and worth having. by the next expansion they’ll probably put out another thank you skin for people that have been around since HoT.

The game needs more things that eventually leave circulation and become unobtainable, not less. Those are the skins and items that become worth cherishing and add value to having “been there”

Other people not having things them special?

Things are special to me because I want them, for a variety of reasons. I couldn’t care less if one other person or one million other people have them as well. It has no bearing of my enjoyment of them.

Actually, yeah, other people not having stuff is the very definition of what makes things special. its up to you whether you care about exclusivity or rarity or not, but scarcity is what creates value and rarity at a basic conceptual level.

That is kind of sad.

It’s human nature. The scarcity or not of an item defines how special we think something is.

Think about when smart phones first came out. They were something special weren’t they? Not everyone had one. People ooo’ed and ahhh’ed them. Now, they aren’t so special. Everyone pretty much has one.

They were just phones, and over priced at that, not special in any way.

I suppose I’m just an aberration then, as I find that mindset pretty inane. If I have it, and others have it, we just have one more thing in common.

New Bleed Proposal.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Pockets.3201

Pockets.3201

What generally distinguishes bleed from burning is the duration vs. damage. Burn is a high damage low duration condition, while bleed is intended to be a high duration, lower damage DPS condition.

The way stuff has been balanced since the beginning doesn’t exactly reinforce this any more, but if you were going to give it a special mechanic I’d focus on the duration rather than the damage. like, in stead of bleed amplifying the stacks of its own damage, have bleed applications increase in duration for existing stacks, or naturally increase in duration on application if the target’s HP is lower or something.

Problem with that is, outside of bosses and champs, duration increase isn’t that useful. Most things just don’t live that long.

Would be better to have an effect that is useful no matter what you are fighting.

Which is why bleed builds are not a good choice for certain content. There’s nothing really wrong with that. Not every build is geared for every type of thing. You wouldn’t take your PvE build to PvP would you?

Not every profession has a choice. We don’t have equal access to all conditions. If we want to use conditions for damage, we work with what we have.

And really, bleeds currently don’t sound like a good choice for any content. At least on the PVE side.

That seems a bit like saying ‘not every profession has access to shatters’

Seems to me if you’re worried about meta-effectiveness or speed clearing or whatnot then you either pick the most efficient build for the profession you like, or you pick the profession that’s most efficient with the condition types you like.

That is hardly the same thing.

You can’t compare a mechanic that one profession gets to the concept of every profession should be able to have a good condition build.

And I’m not the type to care about the meta, speed runs, or any of that. Bleeds just shouldn’t be burns, but worse.
