Why is the daily reward a BAG?

Pockets.3201

Same reason for any of the plethora of “loot” containers in the game. So you don’t miss what they try and pass off as rewards in this game.

Double Daily Fractal

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Pockets.3201

Pockets.3201

1. I disagree with rewards for just logging in, but they are effective at getting people to, you know, log in at the very least.

2. Fractals are not part of normal PvE and should not be lumped in with the other PvE achievements. They are welcome to create a Dungeons category, or even a Fractals category. But Fractals is no more a part of normal PvE than sPvP is.

Its all about the metrics.

Login rewards make the player numbers look good for the bosses.

Double fractals make the rather low numbers of people running them a little higher. Though probably not much as a lot of us run off to WvW on days like this, or PvP, though I don’t like perpetuating the lie that doing that does.

Let us make child characters!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Pockets.3201

Pockets.3201

Its not going to happen.

Games where you have far more character customization have issues with people making child characters for sexual purposes. In one its so bad the GMs had to come out tell people to stop that, because its illegal.

Anet has no incentive to set themselves up for those kinds of issues.

Zerker doing damage is ok, condi isnt?

Because its meant to balance, not to turn the table.

Also, Condition builds are lazy builds imho. Damage over time sou you can apply condition and see the enemy dying without risking yourself? Not my style.

Conditions are not no risk. Just getting close enough to apply them puts you at risk, just like any other attack.

Source? I’d like to see a quote from Anet that states people with personal guild will lose them if they don’t buy the expansion.

Its not about losing them, its about keeping more from being made. Which this will do since personal guilds can’t do guild missions to get favor.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not against it. Hell, my guild only has two active players left so we are getting screwed too. This simply isn’t a mistake though, they knew what would happen when they did this.

Well, game prices have gone up a lot in couple of years. Heck, people pay 70-90 Euros for GTAV without complaining or 50-60 Euros for some FPS games that they play for 10 hours. So yeah, price is fine.

No, its not.

Companies just know that people will pay more for what they want instead of going without, even if it bothers them. So they take advantage of it.

This is being sold for about ten dollars less than what GW 2 cost at release. For not half, not even a quarter of the content. And people are somehow ok with that because its “the standard”.

Pockets.3201

That’s what happens when you limit yourself to one game mode. Anet wants people to TRY everything.

And, I’m one of those who got their daily done in 10mins in PvP and got 5 reward track boxes to open, tokens, trans charges, and then did a few in PvE for extra loots, and a couple in WvW for more WorldExp.
Total about half an hour

I’ve tried both.

PvP and WvW are as enjoyable as rolling in broken glass for me. I shouldn’t have to do things I hate because they can’t make PVE dailies as generic and quickly completed as the other two options.

Are you aware you can complete your daily within 15 min or less in pvp?

I would never do that.

It gives Anet metrics suggesting their dailies are encouraging people to PvP more, instead of telling them that their PvE dailies aren’t enjoyable at all. I feel bad enough going into WvW on double fractals.

it’s odd to me how a small percentile of us want their characters to look…average. I understand in RL the sentiment, that all of us are the same…blah, blah, blah

But isn’t the goal to look heroic?

Some like to look heroic, yes.

But my character doesn’t look all that heroic when she doesn’t have the build needed to swing around that greatsword she is carrying around. Don’t need to be a bodybuilder, but athletic would be nice.

Out of curiosity, do you think it would make sense to make certain body types tied to certain professions (like armor is)?
I doubt other people would want this, they’d likely prefer choice, but it would make sense to me.

personally I want a she hulk option

Not really.

Its not like being a caster type would preclude you from working out, for instance. I suppose you could be a really lazy warrior as well.

Besides, there should always be room to be a muscle wizard.

Daily Activity Participation...

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Pockets.3201

Pockets.3201

Why? Can someone please explain why this is even an option in the daily rotation?

Because they want to encourage people to play activities that tend to be rather ignored by the population due to poor rewards and issues with them.

And then players try the activities, see how broken they are and never go back. The best way to encourage people to play those activities is to FIX them, rewards aren’t needed as much, making them WORK is more important.

But I can guess the answer to why activities are still broken after so many years, “But everyone is working on HoT!”

Its easier to just slap a daily on there than it is to actually fix things.

Besides, I’m not sure I’d want them messing with the activities more. Their solution to people farming loot in instances broke on kill traits and sigils. Their solution to certain idle animations not looking proper for cutscenes was to rip them out completely. And then left that way for months or years.

Jormag fight - why is this so annoying?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Pockets.3201

Pockets.3201

I feel as though the fight itself has had no real testing from Quality Assurance.
It is frustrating to fight a boss monster who has the ability to spam a damage fear ability more than 5 times in 15 seconds of combat. Even when utilizing the fastest cooldown heal, there is absolutely NO way (as an ele) to survive parts of the Jormag fight.

During phase changes, the boss retreats to positions where it is readily able to damage the raid, but yet almost all of my abilities (except for auto attack) can’t even reach him, unless I would consider suicide running into the frost areas to land a few attacks.

Whoever designed these fights really needs to re-evaluate what they think is a fun fight.

I am also bothered by the fact that I am forced to write this in a way that wouldn’t hurt a child’s feelings. Knowing that Anet can sack my account if I were to actually say what’s on my mind is quite frankly, crap. I wanted to come in here and absolutely torch devs and QA teams, who, for the most part, hide behind a service agreement and use it as an excuse to ban people who do not believe that they are doing a good job.

I’m pretty sure if they banned people for simply not liking the work they do they would have gotten rid of me already.

How does Logan still have a job?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Pockets.3201

Pockets.3201

Because it takes time to mobilize people and they didn’t have enough time to get enough people. They just barely caught both guys in the act. If you know about stuff early enough you can rally your forces. If you have to run out the door NOW, by the time your rally them it’s too late.

One me was enough to save the orphanage. One Logan, or Anise, or, pretty much, anyone should have been enough to save the hospital (or vice versa).

One Luke Skywalker was what it took to destroy the death star, but no one else could have done it. Welcome to heroic fantasy.

Our characters are mere peasants compared to the other powers at work in the Guild Wars universe, though. We’re very novice (maybe adept) level. It’s a game and fantasy (obviously), but surely there would have been another intervening factor such an actual situation like this presented itself within the confines and parameters of this universe.

What? I don’t know about you, I was the Hero of Shamoor. When Luke Skywalker destroyed the deathstar, he’d yet to train with Yoda. Just saying.

Maybe :p Try taking on Jennah, Logan, Eir, Trahearne, or most other actual threats by yourself and see what happens.

Have you seen Trahearne in combat? He’s pretty useless aside from the occasional distraction for enemies.

Raids like that aren’t their goal.

Difficult raid scale content is used by a fraction of the player base. Aside from fractals anyway, but those aren’t all that popular.

Guild Halls are their answer to that. Personal housing is never going to be a thing, I don’t think, and frankly I don’t think it should be.

The personal home instance is already there though.
May as well see it through with complete housing.

What functional purpose would that serve? Honestly, how often you you invite people over into your personal home if it only serves as an aesthetic?

Roleplayers would use it quite often. Likely more than guildhalls ever will be.

Bit of a niche group for such a large undertaking.

Considering how many of us I see every day, we aren’t that niche.

Besides, there are plenty of other people that like setting up a home instead of being a hobo in their home instance, especially if it has a little customization with where your home nodes go and whatever stuff they could add to the gemstore to decorate your house.

Supply and demand. They hype up demand, by not having supply.

Bunny ears are going to sell like hotcakes when they come back.

Exactly. Having a discontinued item (a mini or skin) is regarded as a sort of status symbol. So if you start selling it you get a flood of people buying it. Although you have to bear in mind you have devalued the item now.

Devalue? The only thing that will be devalued from selling them will be the people that feel special for having something others arbitrarily can’t get.
