I never understood the love affair with steam. Having something that runs in the background eating resources no matter how small will always be a bad thing to me.
For me its mostly the sales and the fact that its my primary communication program at this point. I like how I can see and respond to messages while playing a game without any extra steps, as well as access guides the community puts up on steam.
The resources it uses are pretty much a non-issue.
As one who has never used Steam, could someone tell me what would be the advantage to ANet, to put the game on Steam?
I can see the ANet paying Steam as a disadvantage, but what would be the incentive for them to do so?
The theory is increased exposure due to steam showing it to people on the store page, or through recommendations.
Why in the world would you buy it again on steam if you already own it?
I’d love a key for the beta, but I just can’t bring myself to spend hours on end in some rather boring zones farming for something with a really low drop rate…
Especially since I’m not getting much else for the time I waste there.
Be nice to silence that talking backpack as well.
The Caithe x Faolain story made me wonder what brain damage Caithe had to be interested in a psychopath like Faolain, or be blind to just how bad she was. It actively detracted from the situation for me.
Marjory x Kasmeer are like the majority of videogame/TV/movie relationships for me. Just kinda there as a thing.
Besides, we all know its really about Braham and Rox.
A once normal enough love being destroyed because one of the lovers becomes a corrupted and warped version of their former self? It’s not a nice thing to happen, but it’s definitely interesting. If you’d spent your whole life with someone and loved them, up until a point where they go through the transformation Faolin went through… your brain would break the relationship, but your heart would still hurt and try to make it work. I’m not one for melodrama, but it’s a kitten sight deeper than most of the other stuff we see, so I’ll take it.
As for Braham and Rox, I’m in complete agreement there. There’s something going on, it’s subtle, but I like it. One moment it looks like they might hint something, the next Rox is acting like an auntie who’s been left to babysit.
I suppose part of my issue might be I’ve never gotten to see Faolain as anything but a horrible paranoid psychopath, so its kinda lost on me why Caithe ever liked her at all.
As said earlier most of the same sex relationships seem forced and not really integral to the story line.
That being said I would rather any relationship be it hetero, kitten , or other not be presented to us unless it is integral to the storyline.
As a parent with children I encourage to play this game because it is a rare jewel of mostly safe content, I would hate to see social engineering/agenda be the motivator of any relationship in a game.
I love how any game with non-hetero relationships in it is part of social engineering or the insidious “Agenda”. Most of the time, poorly written or not, its just part of the story.
I’m fine with whatever relationships they want to throw at us, so long as we don’t have to wait for their dialogue to finish before we can progress with a story or just random “we’re lesbians!” with no context. Caithe x Faolin was done perfectly, in my opinion; it was there, but it was part of the actual plot, not just intruding – it didn’t feel forced. On the other hand, any relationship like Marjory x Kasmeer should just be removed – it’s added nothing and actually gotten in the way at times.
As for the imbalance of males to females, Rytlock is so manly that he makes up for the lack of manliness. Plus the list in the OP missed out Lord Faren – far more manly than most of the others.

The whole point is to waste your time and draw it all out to keep you playing to work on it. That is how MMOs tend to work, sadly.
Just pretty much giving up at this point.
Mass support for Bunny Ears, Aviator Sunglasses, and Wide Rimmed Glasses, yet no sign of them.
You are only allowed to give Anet money for the things they want you to buy, not the things you want to buy.
That is exactly the way they want it.
Did they mention anything about piercing arrows?
Creamery?
I’m not sure that is the word you had in mind…unless you are going to be making butter.
I can’t think of anything I regularly do that needs the forge. Its pretty useless to me outside of dailies.
I think it may be a moot point with the upcoming trait changes.
I did not expect charr upskirt this afternoon.
Unlikely. They want you to buy more storage space.
new dailys may not be perfect in everyway but its alot better than what we had.
Some of us find them a lot worse.
Sure, you can do WvW dailies to fill out the three, but you get worthless WvW xp from them instead of something more useful for working on alts or the like.
WvW XP is accountbound.
I am aware. That doesn’t make it less worthless.

i hope they never come back, i dont have them but i think its important for an mmo to have exclusive items that players can feel are rare and special otherwise it gets boring
That isn’t important at all unless you need having things others don’t to feel special.
As long as there is an option to turn it off.
Are you blaming him for being enthusiastic about taking care of his weapons? Who goes into battle without polishing their spear? Have you no pride?
As long as lazy players exist, gold sellers will too. The way to stop gold sellers isn’t to block and report and hope they get banned. That’s only a bandaid on a broken leg. Accounts that have been compromised should be banned forever and then deleted. It seems harsh, but in the end, the person who’s account was compromised will learn two important lessons.
1.) Don’t go to gold selling sites and try to buy gold.
2.) In case you were keylogged, take better care of your computer and game account.I remember as a kid, if I messed up, my bike or video games were taken away. There’s no punishment when people don’t take care of their property or do something stupid. Pavlov has a point.
Quick Edit. When you have to buy the same game multiple times because your accounts are taken, it will be worth it to take things a bit more serious when your wallet starts getting thin or your credit card is too hot to handle from all the swiping.
That will never happen. They are more likely to lose the customers who’s accounts they’d ban rather than said customers buying new accounts. Especially ones who have been playing for years.
The reality is that the average player isn’t computer savvy enough to avoid all the attempts to get at their accounts. You can’t avoid what you don’t know about.
also any loot for most of the monster fights they spawn, I guess I am still young enough to like them, lol.
Oh, I didn’t mean it that way.
There is nothing wrong with doing them, or enjoying it. Some of us just feel there should be more of a reward for taking the time to do them, as they do get a bit old after you’ve been playing the game for long time.
I always thought events were a combination of gold, karma and guild points, and that what makes them good?
It doesn’t reward nearly enough of any of those to really bother for the time most of them take to do.
I can’t believe these idle animations were not put back in the game by now.
The reason it was removed (apparently) that there was a few cutscenes in the living story season 1 where Marjory and Kasmeer were talking to one another, but they were often stretching and kicking the ground while in conversation.
Yeah, it was immersion breaking, but I fail to see how removing these idle animations for every female human player as a bandaid was a good idea to fix this minor problem.
Much like how stacking sigils and on kill traits were broken when drops were stripped out of story missions, they just took the simplest “fix” and used that, even if it breaks other things.
And then left it that way instead of finding a real solution.
Giving everyone more loot won’t do anything except increase TP prices for everyone.
They might need to balance things so that silverwastes isn’t that much more lucrative than other types of content, but the solution won’t be more loot or more event rewards for every thing else.
You could drop the loot in the silverwastes to zero and I still won’t bother with most events. They just aren’t worth the time and effort for the non-rewards they give. Some XP and a tiny handful of karma and copper?
Its the same reason I avoid random enemies in the world wherever possible. The likelyhood of them dropping something that makes it worth the time to kill them is slim to none.
I’ve been getting an odd bit of lag when I play for the last week or so, and everything used to run just fine. Just this game, as I’ve tested others.
Interacting should be a simple transformation, like all the other transformations in the game – meaning everyone can see the characters with arms out, but only of those people who have interacted.
The sepia tone should, of course, only be seen by those who interact.
A fair number of us don’t want to see people doing that. I certainly don’t want to hear them either. I’m fine with everyone who used it seeing that, but please leave me out of it.
You must get very upset by tonics, then. Because this would literally be no different.
But no, I wouldn’t expect for you to hear anything.
I recall hearing other people making the noises during the event even when I was standing still. It got annoying after a while. I suppose I could be wrong on that count though, I did log out right after my daily was finished until it was over.
Apparently you don’t like seeing people having fun because you don’t think it’s fun. OK
By my preference of everyone who used the box seeing it, everyone who wants to have fun with it can. And those that don’t want to deal with it don’t have to. Everyone wins.
I don’t really see much incentive on Anet’s end to lessen one of their goldsinks.
Can someone please tell us about the ears. Any staff, at all? Just a word? Si? No?¿
I don’t know for sure that it will happen, but I’ve seen items come through from time to time. I agree with you that this is a particularly cute item. Keep your eye on the store and maybe they will make a reappearance!
6 months is a long time. Sure Gaile’s response was pretty satisfactory, but after having it not be released when it was expected to, it doesnt seem unreasonable to ask for a follow up does it? Things change maybe they decided not to release them ever, it would be nice to get a word from them.
Also i hope when they do come out you will no longer be mr grumpy and learn to love the bunny ears and all the flowers and hopping that go along with it
There is no need for a follow up, if the info is still the same. What you are asking is a chance in policy as you want them to tell you that they will or will not come back. They wont do that.
If they reintroduce them, it will have very little effect on my in game experience as i play with low character details, which means i dont see whatever you decide to put on your head. What i have problem with is useless bumps to this topic a la “No news yet on bunny ears?”
If you click on this topic, it will direct you to your last post. From there its very easy to scroll down and realize that no, there wasnt any news in this topic by a dev. No need to to make a bumper post, asking if there are any news.
And if I want hopping and bunny ears, i just use a jackalope tonic.
Jackalopes are lame. Basselopes are where its at.

I do them mostly for the AP, since I want some of the skins from there. What I get from the “reward” chests is usually garbage.
I would like some of the PVE choices to be fixed up a bit better though.
The confusion probably comes from the way the Bobblehead Laboratory works from last year’s prank. With that when it is used everyone has a bobblehead as viewed by the user and others can use it to receive the same results. It appears with the Aviator box only the user is seen in airplane mode.
That said, wasn’t the airplane mode supposed to be super offensive according to all the rage posted on April 1? Where is the rage and offense that this is being offered as a gem store item now?
Only the people who want to see it will see it now. Out of sight, out of mind.
If both people are in Aviation mode, they should both be able to see eachother as warm, loving airplanes. :<
That is probably more work than they wanted to put into it.
I guess I’m just lucky that I don’t need to worry about spending gold. There isn’t much worth spending gold on in the TP, and what little there is so so stupidly over priced that I wouldn’t bother even if I had the money.
They should just add a barber to the main cities. Haircuts should not cost gems. Money grab gemstore items…
They wouldn’t allow that. It would lower the cost and time gating of ascended.
I won’t be happy until my asura can ride in the backpack of a norn or charr and zap people.
As long as we can turn such things off on our end.
Have you seen any bathtubs in this game? Aside from accidentally falling in the water no one bathes, so stiff hair is pretty accurate.
As long as we can turn it off.
We need options for that, minipets, backpacks, etc.
Remind me. What was the price for LS1?
cannot buy LS1, it wasnt designed to be self contained.
That’s sort of my point. I find it interesting that folks are all bent about not getting a discount or having the opportunity to purchase LS2 when LS1 was free with no log-in restrictions or anything. Shouldn’t the question be why isn’t LS2 free with no strings attached??
The answers would be money, money, and…money.
Why in the world would turrets need a nerf?
They were offering it at a discounted price, they weren’t making extra money off it. In fact, you can still purchase the individual episodes. This fix had nothing to do with revenue.
Someone who gets it!
Not really.
The discount entices those that never had any intention of buying. How many times have people bought cheap games during the steam sale they otherwise wouldn’t have, only to never play those games?
Any kind of sale is still a sale.
I own so many games I’ve never gotten around to playing due to those steam sales.
One an hour is probably good. If I start to see to many I’ll just start to temporarily put the recruiters on ignore so I can play in peace.
Can we please have the bunny ears yet? -.- Or at least tell us if were getting them. So rude not to answer anyone.
They are generally unwilling to tell us anything until its actually happening, even for something as simple as this.
