I don’t really consider that good communication. They want people excited about that. I’ll change my opinion of how they communicate when they start giving answers about more inconvienent things.

Absolutely, they are very selective about only talking about what they want and rarely about that the player base wants (cough 10,000 cough)

I believe we are still lacking a response to how they ripped karma boosters out of the enchanted reward boosts and just hoped no one would notice.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Pockets.3201

It only got worse with HoT, where we can get something along the lines of ten or more different “loot” containers in one zone.

It all gives me this feeling of “look at all this stuff we are giving you”, which might work if any of it was remotely exciting. You get so much of it from event/zone participation rewards. You need to click on those twice, once to see what you got and again just to put it into your inventory instead of it going there directly. Then you have to open all the containers you get and process the contents if its not a currency that should have been added directly to your wallet in the first place.

Its turns my rewards for playing content into a chore.

I’d kill for at least options to automatically put crafting materials in storage and maybe some for salvage kits along the lines “Salvage all blues” and “Salvage all greens”.

No perks for duo guild?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Pockets.3201

I don’t want to sound mean but two people don’t make a guild. There’s nothing stopping you from just always being ina party toghether. The entire point of being in a guild is to join a group of people. Wether it’s a group of 10 people or more than 100 isn’t the issue. But two people don’t make a guild. And there is no justified reason to give two people a whole hall instance. So many people complaing about small guilds being unable to shine, but that’s the point. Guilds need to be massive and powerful. A group of 5 or less isn’t a guild, it’s a party. And even if you had the hall. Every upgrade costs about 300G minimum. You really won’t be able to advance much, rendering the hall useless for you.

Except two people DID make a guild and had access to things in the game, such as the ability to make banners and other consumables, which Anet ripped away and put behind a paywall and a big/gold materials sink. For three years, small guilds of less than 10 were able to keep progressing toward goals. Now, they have to go through all sorts of hoops, money, and materials just to get back what they had before.

I don’t mean to sound mean, but I hope you can understand why this is irritating.

To the poster who said there should be some kind of reward for being bigger, I don’t disagree. However, why should small guilds lose the ability to do the things they were able to do before HoT?

I have 5 people (6 accounts) in my guild, for the record. After three years, to be told we don’t really constitute a guild because we aren’t all ever on at the same time and to have things taken away leaves a bad feeling.

Good job, for 3 years you enjoyed and experienced a featurethat doesn’t exist in a SINGLE MMO. At-least now bigger=better. As it should be.

Also the things you’ve done in the pasr aren’t wasted. Banners you previously unlocked are already learnt in the tavern for you. So you won’t be spending extra on that.

There was another MMO. I can’t think of anything you couldn’t do on you own with City of Hero’s supergroups. Including making bases far superior to anything guild halls will ever be here. Just took a lot of time to get the resources on your own.

And bigger is rarely better. You may have a larger quantity of players, but the quality usually nosedives. I’ve been running with my guild tag off, since all of my guild left GW2 a while ago, and I’ve gotten so many blind invites from “take anyone” guilds, which are often the larger ones.

Pockets.3201

Some of the timed champ HPs I’ve done so far have been in pretty remote spots where you are lucky if people are in the area to help at all. Especially since not everyone even has the masteries to get out there so even if people are willing to help you they may not be able to. And many of those those that have done it probably aren’t going to be willing to go all the way back out there to do it again just to help.

Progress towards my elite spec being gated by my mastery levels can be annoying as it. Having it be gated by everyone else’s progress as well though?

It’s a little 2012, a little 2013–2014, and a smidge of new rewards for 2015. We have Ascent to Madness again, like in 2012, but we don’t have the scavenger hunt (they said they’d like to have put it in, but didn’t have time because it would need a lot of work to fix,) or Reaper’s Rumble. We also don’t have the Blood & Madness instances from 2013–2014.

It…doesn’t look like Lunatic Inquisition made it back this time around? Blood & Madness needed a rest, so I’m glad Ascent is back, but I don’t know why Lunatic Inquisition is on the shelf this year.

I’m guessing they got tired of trying to fix the Inquisition.

How to save dungeons

So the game is based on grinding.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Interesting to hear about this, since the begining the devs have stated that there was no grinding in GW2, not that anybody believed them, but now they pulled 180.

“I want to be up front: scarcity is important.”

Not sure you understand the concept here. There is no required grinding in GW2. None. Never has been. If you decide to “grind” out content, that’s your choice. The way the game is designed, you play the content in one story, and you move onto the next.

You don’t have to grind, but most of what they are giving us to do is grind based.

Daily AP Limit

I read a long time ago that the cap was put in place for AP hunters. They want new players to be able to catch up to people that played at launch, thus the various AP caps.

Its pretty much impossible to catch up unless those AP hunters stop playing. There are far too many achievements that you can’t get unless you were there for event that gave them.

Either they can’t play the endgame or they don’t take the time to learn it. Besides, raiding is just one piece of a grand part of the MMO.

There isn’t that much else HoT brings to the PvE end game though, so far as we have been shown. And raids have been promised regular updates, if I remember correctly.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we see most of what the new zones offer in under a month or so. Depends on if the travel masteries gate much of the area. Then its back to doing events for rewards and grinding XP to fill out said masteries.

It also tells some players that they can’t play the endgame, so they should find another game to play.

Raids aren’t end-game though… well it is part of end-game but it is not the be-all-end-all end-game. There is sPvP, tPvP, WvW, Dungeons, Fractals, all that open world stuff, progression crafting, and then after all of that there are Raids.

I will never set foot in a Raid – even if the armor was 20% better then exotics in WvW and gave a bonus to amulets in sPvP / tPvP – not because I lack the skill but because I don’t enjoy that kind of content (if you were guaranteed one piece you needed a run I would give it a try but it kitten well better be hard then, heh heh).

I don’t know that exclusion is good – ideally everyone should be able to play what they want – however it definitely isn’t bad. Telling people they should play a different game certainly isn’t; more MMOs should say “I’m sorry but if you are looking for ‘X’ go play a different game because that isn’t what this game is about” (see the bevy of new counter-cultural MMOs coming out like Camelot Unchained and Star Citizen).

Guild Wars 2 is as close to “do whatever the kitten you want” as you can get… just because a tiny slice of content isn’t tailored for everyone hardly necessitates a mass exodus… especially when Raids – like everything else in this game – merely offers QOL improvements (Ascended gear with on the fly changeable stats) rather then a power tier upgrade.

Maybe?

I feel we’ve well moved past dungeons being counted as endgame, they’ve been kind of left behind, old and neglected at this point. We’ll see how much effort they put into keeping fractals from suffering the same fate.

On the other hand we do know that they plan on rolling out a good bit more raids, with story included, though I could be wrong on the latter. With their teams being focused on that I am concerned with how much there will be to do other than farm the new maps for us PvEers after a certain point. If you aren’t raiding anyway.

I can’t say much on the PvP front as I’ve never enjoyed such things so I try to say out of the way.

If you’re a Casual player, then you’ll have the same kind of end-game you’ve had since launch – World Bosses, Map/Event Farm, Karma Train, Low-Difficulty 80 Content (Dungeons, etc.) All Casual content geared toward Casual players.

Raids are different. They are geared toward another subset of players, but they are not exclusive. If a Casual player wants to play them, they can. Nothing stops a Guild of Casuals from Raiding.

And guess what? When you get bored of being a Casual player doing Casual content – Raids will be there for you.

Keep demanding they nerf it – and it won’t be.

I haven’t actually demanded anything. Stop acting so paranoid about the vague possibility of raids being changed simply because some people aren’t happy with them.

Still funny how people think we have healers in this game, the goal for guild wars was active damage mitigation not standby healer support clearing up everyone elses hiccups

You can get higher in the silverwastes with the boons you get during the vinewrath event for some reason. About eight and a half on most of what it gives, and I had over three minutes of retaliation.

Just do the PvP dailies in the one custom arena dedicated for them. You can get all four daily achievements completed in as little as 2 matches (sometimes a single match which only happens twice a month I believe). Same the PvP reward track potions for when they release the reward tracks.

Will those give the required materials though?
