I bet it was originally the legendary longbow but they, having finished the skin, and not all the particle effects, sold it in gem store instead.
Part of the point of meta, and running glassy builds, is because you have the dedicated healer and everyone else should be maxing their dps. Running traits that serve no purpose, or utilities, or anything that is basically useless in terms of what happens in a raid is what is wrong about running with “what you already do”. Many skills and traits are only going to be useful in a pvp or WvW sense, or running in a massive blob or solo. The biggest part of raiding is being adaptable to the situation.
However, I did tell my WvW guild that, as long as they have ley line gliding, have someone with stealth or the water mastery, and use the right traits and utility skills, gear does not matter for escort.
And, to the op, create your own squad and no one can kick you ;p (you do not need a commander tag to create a raid squad but if someone claims lead, then they can now kick at will).
That epidemic though.
Marksman elite spec? Headshots from stealth for the insta win? Maybe.
What I read from some of these posts is anet continues to support, encourage, and drive home the blob meta by nuking drop rates for anything else and increasing siege costs so only blob fights are “affordable”.
Anet is thinking about introducing new siege and yet is not fixing the core problem, thus basically guaranteeing their fail in a follow up poll.
At least now I have a clearer view on what killed the WvW guild I have fun with each week. It is not economical to be a small havoc guild. And since we hate the blob meta… No badge income.
Thanks, anet.
Awesome! Thanks, Jon. Hope this helps (last crash in the file):

I also cut out other stuff but if you want more, just ask. I see lots of other useful stuff I would use debugging code but not sure what you use. Especially given the code section is obviously compiled and the registers do little good unless you are writing ASM. But I recall you guys like map positions to duplicate things so I added that and general memory stuff.

You should add tempest tank to that list. My best tanking ever was on a tempest. Basically auramancer that uses earth instead of fire. Roughly 50-60% damage reduction the whole fight with plenty of self sustain and damage.
They also do a decent job with all Viper gear if you know what you are doing (for condi) and need a non-reaper condi option.
We did a successful raid with five tempests, three reapers, a ps, and a chrono just the other day, on vg, as a training run. Druids and revenants are not needed. You can do the content with any group of classes if you have people in good gear, using food, and not dying all the time.
The reasons pugs take the “meta comp” is to increase chances of success. It is unfortunate that this exists but it has always been a state of the game in all modes you are not soloing, especially in other mmo’s, so hope that fact is not somehow a surprise.
As to forming a group. Search the forums and reddit or make your own are both the valid response to that.
I was doing TT this morning when the game crashed. I sent in the report but it vanished before I could copy paste. Hopefully you got it.
Someone else in the WvW guild got the “game-wide rendering” crash in talking to a merchant not in WvW.
“There is no such thing as a free lunch. "
I cannot tell if trolling or just… I dunno, whatever you call someone that is unintentionally trolling.
So you have extra points saved up. Get over it. Bloody hell!
The whole time I was running around the new map I was thinking “raiding has made everything else super easy or they are really trying to appease the casuals” but in skimming this thread I see others agree. It did not feel the same difficulty as other HoT maps.
Salvaging is awesome, and recipes cleaned up my bank. Having gear and build sets would complete the package.
I think the ele nerfs were very needed, maybe not enough, but skill cooldowns were not the way to do it. Similarly, the mesmer and ranger buffs were not enough to make them useful as anything other than support. Also I think skill splits need to be three-way. One for each game mode. Maybe even a forth for raids of you have to. But there needs to be better balance so more than just one dps and one condi class are considered in group content.
The story was nice and I want more but there were still some bugs so will report those later. I think I might need to redo it on alts just for the sake of clarify because the data was dense.
Lastly, my WvW guild are all waiting, trying to be patiently, for DBL to return instead of boring old Alpine so it was sad not to see it back yet.
Soothing mist zealot/Magi tempest healer is easy mode healing (auto attack to win) but your fights will often go into enrage timer or, for gorse, the party will wipe.
My suggestion is to only use it during training raids, like escort and vg, where the timer is non existent or minimal (zealot tempest can heal through vg enrage damage). But for serious progression raiding you need a druid because of the party boosts.
This sounds like an excellent way to crush the ridiculous blob’s and the bad tendency for them to form. Smaller groups, go go~~
;)
You have to remember the point, and reason, people run condi is to get past the obscene toughness builds people run. In reality, what I think you want to ask is to remove all the bunker stat sets from WvW like pvp, but that is impossible given it uses pve gear.
To be productive, ask for stat standardisation in WvW with the same amulet concept as pvp.
In the meantime, remember that vitality is the counter to condi. And crit does not affect condi damage but condi output if traited.
Or, you know, bring a proper group comp instead of zerg blobbing so you can have power damage, condi damage, and some support classes to remove conditions and heal in general.
Another way to check that cannot be faked is to have them equip the mini. For the most part, people unlock the first one then sell the duplicates. It will also work once the insights are used for the armour.
As for actual setup advice, keep it simple and do it quickly. Standing around talking is going to bore and upset people so they leave. Same with resuming after a wipe. Do not waste people’s food and time; reassemble and go asap.
Also, the more people you have that can do more than one role, the faster you can form a good group comp since you can always rearrange around the folks that can only play one (or only geared one). This also allows for checking and adjusting to folks that are not quite as comfortable with their role as they think they are but might be better on a lesser geared main. Remember, better to not have people going down and have more dps from someone in all exotics than a person in full ascended that dies and misses mechanics a lot.
You can check the qT forums for dps and build guidelines for all classes.
A way a guildie said to replicate it is have him phase in the middle of jumping into the air for a slam as he will finish the jump targeting code and land there again after orb phase finishes.
The rest I do not see as bugs for kc fight.
Never hurts to try it anyhow. We can vote it a bad idea or not later.
Similarly to EW, I take my classes to the champ in the lava caves in Kessex. When I can solo it, I am happy.
Also if you can solo Kol in Harathi Hinterlands, you are good.
Then, the final test, is taking on blobs of enemy mobs in either the dredge cave with the jp in Dredgehaunt Cliffs or Orr.
There are others, however, that test by soloing dungeons or WvW roaming. All up to you.
Nope. You can do all the raid bosses with all tempests. They can tank, heal, condi, and power dps. Sometimes mixed.
Similarly, you could run all necros. Maybe all of some others, though all mesmers would be hard with their low dps and suboptimal condi. I seem to recall an eight druid sloth run before one of the patches.
The trick is having a group of people that can do these kinds of things. Pugs are never going to. They will take the easiest path to victory.
Because talking to other players is super difficult……
It’s almost like those allegedly exclusive guilds aren’t recruiting or something…..Oh wait reddit/gw2 forums and even in game daily there’s adverts for guilds.
According to reddit survey, there is like total 40+% players who want to try raiding. If raid teaching is so widely accessible, then why these numbers are so high? It’s not like people have problems to join WvW/PvP/general PvE guilds, but suddenly all of them are too lazy to find a raid one? Why there is so many threads, topics and posts here and on reddit, under literally EVERY dev post?
Your logic is not working here.
Just this past Saturday, TTS ran five training groups for NA timezone. That is over fifty people we trained and threw at VG.
Additionally, we run three to four groups during OCE timezone on Sundays. Which is a different set of thirty to forty people. Not to mention the two or three groups on Wednesday, OCE.
I am confident we are not the only guild doing this.
Something we do that other raid guilds could certainly do is that, to be in the raid guild, and on a static group, you also need to lead a training group at least once or twice a month. This would get loads of people into raiding. Just set the requirements reasonable (like following those builds on the qt forums) and you will have plenty of people and lots of success.
But again, check reddit and these forums, and map chat, for guild recruitment and do some research ahead of time. Being prepared goes a long way to making the fight and experience smoother.
:)
My ranking, based on our static group’s ability to one shot a boss:
Sloth
Escort
Gorseval
Trio
Sabetha
Vale Guardian
Keep Construct
Mathias
Xera has not been done yet but I bet it will be easier than Mathias based on this thread xD
VG and Sabetha are kinda tied but we can usually two shot VG; and Sabetha depends on how late at night we get to her.
We only got KC down recently but learning that I, being druid healer and having lowest ping, does orb control best, we might be able to one shot it soon too. Thus it would be moved below VG and Sab.
So are chrono mesmers, and necros the meta tanks atm?
To my knowledge, yeah. I have certainly not seen anything else. But I do not pug enough for that.
My guard is a mix of Zerk and Maurader armour and Cavalier trinkets. However, I have not used her to tank since like February. I have my chrono and necro geared up for that and like it a lot more. Chrono is also preferred because of the sheer amount of Dodge/evade/absorb/block/invuln’s they have.
Although, I have been itching to give my cleric rings and commanders earrings/amulet to my ele so she can be an auramancer healer and tank and pump out fury, regen, and others. But we have not gotten to the point where we get to play like that yet in my static group.
So, sure, you can prolly tank with your guard if you run into a Zerk chrono but if the chrono has commanders gear, you would have to go with Zerk or a diff class. Just as I only use my necro tank when we have a Zerk chrono during our training raids. Especially as it also makes it easier on the healer.
800 days, no drop but the new crafting tracks are slowly happening.
I managed to get it when a mesmer was there one day giving free ports. Maybe when this jp hits the daily, that will repeat. But keep looking, always someone.
If they made an easy mode, no enrage timers, but also you got no shards and no legendary insights, and did not unlock the raid masteries, and earned no achievements or titles, I would not be opposed to it. If it was just standard dungeon loot, that would be acceptable.
I do not, however, like the idea that I do spend a lot of hours trying to get better to earn the loot only to have someone else come in and get it for significantly less effort (not to mention time and money).
So question, why do the non Raiders not complain so vehemently about all the ascended backpieces, armour skins, and content you see and the rewards of reward tracks in pvp and WvW (outside of gift of battle)?
It just irks me I guess that that is a complaint, which I feel is fairly unjustified.
The story complaint is similar because even I joined too late to witness season one and the epic scarlet boss my friend always brags about at work.
I do not even see any real story elements during the fights. And barely still outside of them. How could they have made the raids have a purpose, other than raw challenging content, without a semblance of story? I am only able to picture empty boss floors with some path from one to the next like in wow raids and that is certainly dull.
However, spending time with a group of friends is the biggest reason I can think of as to why I am still raiding, still teaching others to raid. If I could get the same social experience elsewhere, and not have the frustration of dying a lot, I would take it. But to my knowledge, the only other stuff for this is either blobs or tiny groups of five people that finish something in twenty minutes and forget you exist the next. This contributed a lot to why I quit wow and Rift. Queue, dungeon quickly, leave, repeat.
If by worked you mean caused inflation, then yes, working splendidly.
2g for dailies causes less inflation than a single run through t4 fractals. Quit being an alarmist.
… that’s not how inflation works. Inflation is caused when everyone is able to buy more, but the supply to buy doesn’t increase at the same rate. Only a tiny percent of the playerbase can even beat T1 fractals, much less T2, T3, or T4.
There’s no evidence that increased coin for dailies has resulted in inflation. It’s true that inflation can happen when the money supply goes up faster than the product supply. However, while 30g/month per person seems like a lot to some of us, it’s peanuts relative to the amount of coin changing hands on the TP.
And that was why ANet did it: it increases the personal wealth of the poorest of players noticeably while doing very little for the wealthiest. And it does so without a significant impact on the economy overall.
This makes sense, thanks.
I just know, even as a relatively poor player (just under 500g because not buying lately), I have not seen much additional incentive to do dailies. The five gold for dungeons is a bit more enticing, but still does not cut it.
The gold from fractals and raids, however, is glorious. I just get to doing them once a week. Maybe it averages out, dunno. Too tired to math.
Yes, I love my fellow meatshields up until the enemy notice me taking down half their team and rush through. If you can stay up that long, you are clearly better than I (or the enemy does not catch on and target you first). For an ele though, I am not sure if I would go ferocity or power.
There is a graph someone made once with optimal ratios but I would not know how to find it now. It is on the gw2 forums somewhere.
You can get close by enabling class specific boosts with the golem in sfta. Spotter from Ranger is 150 precision instead of the 250. Assassins presence from revenant is similar for ferocity. Not sure about one for power but I would do that to test.
(edited by Pompeia.5483)
The problem I learned with stat stacking sigils is they require you never go down so you maintain them. Thus, overt time, the others are better.
They used the new golem in the special forces training area. So they set a bunch of class boosts and boons they expect a raid party to have so the numbers are much higher. It is still the most damaging build just you need those boosts to reach the 49k.
Totally possible in WvW but you might need an organised group.
Nerfed how. Examples of a direct dungeon nerf would be nice. At the moment I can only recall indirect nefs which are power creep and adjusted downscaling which is basically a power creep on top of a power creep.
The most major one was when they stopped res rush strategy. To compensate for not being able to waypoint when your group was in a fight, almost all of the boss fights were “adjusted” downward. They have also kept tweaking individual encounters up and down (mostly down) throughout the whole early part of the game history.
Are we sure this was not partially due to the power creep as well? I am surprised they would make any of the non-story dungeon paths easier. (I do recall making story ones easier)
You should see 5k ticks from meteor shower. About 4k from lava fonts. I actually run fresh air on mine but I should not be; I just like to overload air when running away because it is a massive (size and damage) obstacle. I am also not running scholar so you would see more if you did.
As to air sigil… Everyone raves about it for any dps class so I use it.
Basically this: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vFAQFAWn0XCdOgNNAmNAcYiFBALIAUAOAup2ZbuV4SGCSBA-ThRBABPcBAoU9nr2fU+hnOAAeAAmpEczwAwIAgZmZmGRERIFwoKjA-e
(edited by Pompeia.5483)
Look at the qt optimized dps page on reddit for all your dps needs.
However, since this is what I do (staff tempest) in WvW: I put force and air. And generally follow the qt guide. Staff dps is all power so you want scholar and Zojjas.
For the most part I stay fire, drop lava fonts and meteor shower on cooldown. When glyph of storms is off cooldown, swap to air and use it and overload, then back to fire.
If group is having issues, use water for a bit then back to fire.
When running, stay in air. When running away use air five to create obstacles and earth four for the same, then back to air. Also water four cuz ice patch slows them. Also lightning flash.
If you got swivel on a button, use fire four to run away as well. All these help you stay alive and knock people down. Get good and be ready for salty tears. I often end up targeted over the rest of my team because of the number of people I down.
(edited by Pompeia.5483)
I have had the Rev run protection over fury before because the druid Tiger gave us enough but since they were just learning healing, it was better for the party. Also, most of the chronos anymore have the 100% boon duration.
So here are a few questions:
Besides:
The only mode where it is actually useful to be able to swap your stats on armour on the fly is in raids anyhow, and even then only for a few characters. Additionally, until you can select runes as well, it is not even beneficial to move between characters.
Maybe…. /maybe/ it would be useful for WvW but they just run nomads or soldiers anyhow. And my WvW guild got together, geared up properly, and beat the raid. So not even those players have an excuse. If you can beat players regularly, you can beat raid bosses.
For everyone else? Craft your exotics, buy them, or get from drops. That is more than enough to do all the content from HoT and core Tyria. All the dungeons. And all the living stories. Even all your personal story.
And if you fractal, you have the gear (or can cheaply change it to be correct) and the skill to do raids.
Lastly:
If all you want is the story, which they have made clear has no relevance on the rest of the game, Glenna, at the start of wing three, gives you a summary of the first two wings. Then you can catch vids for the rest. And I bet you can ask in Aerodrome for an empty wing at any time to see what is left.
(edited by Pompeia.5483)
If by worked you mean caused inflation, then yes, working splendidly.
Considering the number of fire fields and burst skills, I should hope your group could maintain the 25 stacks without a Rev. Heck, with an auramancer and druid using Tiger, and properly geared chrono, you can go without a Rev. Just some ideas.
So basically you are trying to say WvW players just want one large, empty, boring map, maybe with a couple trees, some spawn protection, and then barren fields for blob content?
Hellz no. I play WvW because it mixes the pve with some decent, ancient, Castle-type warfare. If I want nonstop combat, I can go hate life in pvp.
I like the city idea because it reminds me of Assassins Creed. However, have to be wary of folks pulling you to your death. So a good mix of all the things. But narrow passageways are never fun because they just get filed with traps and other nasty aoes.
The infamous movement bug. Been getting it a lot more lately since HoT
I hope PvE players that were only coming to WvW to bank know they can do so just as easily by entering heart of the mists without interrupting the PvP matches in progress. :p
As far was I was aware the guild registrar already had a drop down bank access option.
The guild registrar allows access to guild banks, not account banks which is what the craft tables were also useful for aside from crafting. The only other way to get access to the bank was to get a t3 keep. But luckily now we will have an always accessible bank vendor.
I wonder if it would be acceptable to put crafting tables in the HoTM lobby as a compromise.
Actually, you can change the dropdown to account vault to see your bank. Alternatively, the scribing station has it like any other crafting station.
I, and many of my guild mates, will be happy to run on DBL again upon its return; Alpine is horridly stale.
I think the vast majority of people’s saltiness in here stems from at least one of the following:
I am currently talking to folks in my WvW guild that are wanting to try raiding again. I have given them basic gear requirements and shown them the training golem. Already, they are amazed how much better they do in dungeons and are going through every path in all of them to learn how things work so they can come to raid, where I will spend whatever time they need to get through it. This willingness to learn and get better at the game is all you need to do the raid content today. It is all people really ask of you in a training raid.
We even did a progressive raid once with a new player but we never kicked him because he listened to advice, changed his food and build, and continued to improve so fast we could no longer tell he was new.
With the right attitude, anything is possible. So flip the frown upside down, filter your tears into energizing water, and get out there and skill up and have fun!
(edited by Pompeia.5483)
I have made so many friends as a result of raids that I never could have with other content. Thanks for quality content that can really bring a group of people together.
Additionally, the way wing three ramped up the difficulty was perfect and gave us a better avenue for our training raids we host. I hope, as you mentioned in the blog, that you retain this strategy going forward! Even the persistent raiders can benefit from a warm-up boss of sorts.
broken in more ways than one lmao
Yeah. My guild on HoD has basically given up on WvW for this link because our t4 server got linked with a t2 and we never even did well the few times we accidentally got into t3. So now… Well a chunk of us were doing dungeons all night. Thanks for that, anet
I would suggest a further restriction that you never make skip-links like this. Maybe pair a server up and down one tier but not further.
What are you talking about? HoD is linked with my server, SBI. We’re in no way T2.
And the match is awesome! We seem to work well together. We had HoD commanders, SBI commanders with people from both servers mixing it up and following both. Both were inviting each other into their TS. Everyone seemed friendly and welcoming.
Might want to give it another shot because I have no idea how you could make the statement you did.
Oh I agree that everyone is friendly and welcoming and that is excellent.
Also maybe I was wrong on which server is/was t2 from our pairings, but that was something mentioned in ts as to why we are losing so badly. I get that anet finally took time-based participation into account but it surprised us.
Personally, I will not bother playing the first week or two of a pairing so things can settle back into a balanced state where it is fun instead of just a headache of throwing oneself into eminent death repeatedly.

Just a hint on what I did; align your confirmation to the tome icon and set mouse wheel to click for you. Or, if you have an mmo mouse, you can have a double click and spam it. Or make an ahk script to click 237 times.
