I like the sounds because the effect visual noise is already too much. I want to hear a sound, glance at the chat or buff bar to see what it is exactly, and move accordingly. Exactly like driving. So I hope it is a bug and they are working on it.
Did anyone check the bug forums? Maybe someone can make a post there. Ask a simple question to be sure
The reason I only play my druid in raids and not WvW is because I do not want to exclusively play that role and need the variety of killing people in WvW.
Also, the real issue is not the method by which the classes heal but how rewards are calculated for not doing any real damage. You can heal your team in WvW till pigs fly but you are not going to get bags or rank as much as if you nuke a blob with meteor shower. Same goes for pve; heal the zerg at Tequatl but you still struggle to get silver.
You want players to play healers and support, you need to give them incentives/rewards that parallel doing the same in terms of damage. (Heal someone 5k should be the same as doing 10k damage or so to a player because of crits and things that do not apply to healing.)
If you want to start limiting voters, anyone that plays ebg over 80% of their time, or eotm, or gained said ranks in either should not get to vote. End of story.
Those of us that only play bls liked dbl just fine and had the patience and skill to traverse the map without getting lost or falling to our deaths. Alpine is boring blob fights like ebg and, frankly, stale.
Surprised there is no poll for this. WvW folks have polls to make it easy for you.
Is the time delay in part due to you making it possible for us to select runes in addition to stats and thus make it completely worth getting?
Because legendary armour requires them and they want it time gated. Nuff said?
There really is no reward currently to incentivize working with our helping others on content after you are shard and insight capped each week.

This is a really pathetic attempt to validate your laziness. Legendaries are just skins anyhow and require all game modes to complete if you do not count buying tokens off of the trading post. Including the new hot ones.
So get off your k train and go kill things. I get that many of the WvW players are really salty but this is a new level of ridiculous.
So on the relinking on the 24th, will there be a preview of the next linkings of paired server and also will the servers be locked on relink?
I doubt it. Anet will probably they do it to prevent rigged matches (ie guilds transfering on purpose) but in reality not telling anyone who links with who will give them a major gemstore boost because WvW players will be suckered into scrambling to another server, as usual.
Or they could, I dunno, get better instead of leaving to get carried and easy mode? Kinda the players own fault if they think they need to keep swapping around.
I think revenant was the first step with this in mind. Each stance is a meager ten skills and you can only change their order, not what they are.
Hypothetically that’s impossible. 4 months currently have 4.8% (less than undecided votes at 7%) and 6 months have 10.9%.
That’s why it is hypothetical. If you want real numbers at this point in time (35.8%=1, 26.9%=3, 14.9%=2, 10.6%=6, 6.9%=ignore, 4.9%=4).
Does 1 month win or do you take the weighted average which is about 2.5 months?
We take the weighted average of all voters which is 2.5 months or 10 weeks.
Nah, lets weight it by number of link changes in a year (i.e. 12/link duration)
(35.8%=12, 26.9%=4, 14.9%=6, 10.6%=2, 6.9%=ignore, 4.9%=3)
That averages to a preference for 7.1 link changes per year or a change every 1.7
months, or approximately every 7 weeks.
I would accept this. Two weeks to stabalise positions and five to play.
Then wipe your TS permissions if link changes and no more than seven times a year, or something less maybe.
I like the raids and have made several friends from it that I never would have from the zerg blobs of most pve stuff.
Dungeons and fractals can never do that because they are, too often, joyless speed runs to get gold and loot, nothing more.
That alone makes them worth it. MMOs are a social construct; should go to single player games if you want to do things alone.
Similarly, being in a blob will never let you pick out and make new friends because a blob takes away individuality, which is needed for a social linking of any substantial length.
Ten shards to a boss, one for sub 50% fail, two for post 50% fail, none for trash in between. Solves the issue and promotes helping others during the week on at least one boss. Maybe eight instead of ten, etc.
Would love if they had a way to encourage bringing/helping others into raiding and making the nine bosses not give shard cap is the easiest way to do that.
We regularly have me as druid and another as cleric staff tempest on Mathias instead of two druids. There is even a video of a six man Mathias with only a water tempest staff healer. It is totally possible.
I have also zealot auramancer healed vg with dagger warhorn.
Druid is just the easiest because of the large bursts you can do in an emergency. However, like wow, there are many ways to heal and it can depend on group and boss as to which ones are viable.
What Jaina said. Just stand behind him, let yourself be feared (do not use stability) and you generally get it.
If you want the cheesiest answer, go for nomads. You could be blind and walk most the map without dying on that one.
Realistically, try some of the new four stat armours that give you power vita toughness and something.
I think trailblazers is great for scraper.

I am also between a two and three but I refuse to pug because of the fives and sixes. I have an established group of threes and we routinely teach fours that then become 3.5s.
Sixes are those that refuse to change gear, builds, or even food and, often like fives, try to sneak in and get carried for free rather than pay for it like many do. Not that I support paying for it over learning the content and improving your abilities, but it is a thing.
I have experienced the entire range between two of my guilds. I think a lot of the unfortunates are those just wanting achievements, masteries, content, or gear that is exclusive to raids.
I got a gtx 970 a couple months back and have not seen any frame drops or lag spikes. However, that is a desktop card. I do run everything maxed out but still set character model’s and character display to low because you do not need much more when blob fighting in WvW. I usually see 60-63fps out of combat, 60 with small groups and tower captures, and 50 during blob fights and world bosses/raids.
You should be able to use a video card site to help translate that and look for comparable laptop cards.
Also, I recommend this moves to “players helping players” forum
I am hoping this was a sarcastic troll of the latest mistakenly crafted events because the big thing that makes gw2 a better mmo than all the rest is because of the nature that all contributers get a reward as appropriate to their contributions. We all get resource nodes instead of having to fight over them or look for ones not being routinely farmed by bots.
I have always loathed open-world pvp servers in other mmos and sure as hell never want to see them here. The community is a lot better in part because there is no one filling our chat logs with salty words of loss when we just want to roam around in pve to relax after a long day at work/school.
Special Mention
The reason prices are climbing is the 2g dailies and 5g dungeons mixed with people having infinite f2p accounts. I doubt cow pies were that significant an exploit if it took them six months to fix.
You can’t transfer gold or items out of f2p accounts to your main account. If anyone wants to transfer gold/items they’ll have to convert it to a paid account first (which costs money).
Oh, thanks, did not know that!
The reason prices are climbing is the 2g dailies and 5g dungeons mixed with people having infinite f2p accounts. I doubt cow pies were that significant an exploit if it took them six months to fix.
Not reading that monumental wall of text chock full of spelling issues, but from what I skimmed you forgot the fact that removing the vendors that exist now only affect folks that do not have sets already, thus making it harder for new players to get in on things. That is the exact opposite of Anets mission. Thus it will never happen.
Anet has made it excessively easy to get ascended jewelry so I do not see any reason whatsoever to make crafting it a thing other than you are OCD and need all things at even levels of 500.
A few fractals will get you all the ring’s you ever need; I know from doing them and I have no agony resistance.
Goof around for an hour in WvW, like running the train in eotm, gets you enough badges and gold to buy your amulets.
Lastly, doing all the guild missions is one trinket a week of base stats. Guilds recruit all the time.
Then you can use those base trinkets to get into raids if you want HoT stats. Of course, story achieves are likely easiest, but still an option.
…snip… unless you are making a legendary that specifically requires jeweler, they have made jeweler worthless as a profession.
For me that’s not entirely true. I find a lot of use in it for making exotic accessories because the minor stat difference between them and ascended aren’t ever going to be worth the 50 ectos and 40 laurels. True, you can buy most of the exotics for relatively cheap; but if I’ve got the mats at hand then free is an even better price.
Also, I find jeweler useful for farming Essence of Luck. I haven’t yet maxed out my MF, so when my bank gets too full of silver or mithril it gets converted into Essence of Luck and usually a ding from Agent of Entropy.
~EW
Actually the stat gain from exotic to ascended accessories is nearly ten or so percent better. It is the ascended armour that is insignificant increase of like two percent.
I discovered that a year ago or so and raised a support ticket for a refund but nothing happened. I hoped they would show up on the pact trading people but I think anet hates nice things.
As for the druid healing, you want to use Magi anyhow. For my auramancer, I made exotic zealot and that is perfect; ascended is not needed for healers. Once you get 1k heal power you have diminishing returns so try not to go past it.
Once you get going with it you can replace the cleric rings and earrings with zealot ones that you buy with shards. However, condi is ultimately better for Druids/Rangers. With my normal healing traitlines, I still get 1k bleeds. Staff does basically nothing and you want heals not dps when learning to raid. Even then, staff will allow the group to make more mistakes.
I would rather have the legendary armour work on all weight classes and have selectable runes and stats.
At this point, the class I play the most is my druid in raids with Magi armour and zealot weapon/earrings & cleric rings. I also use my commander/wanderer chrono in raids but not nearly as often.
For open world, I mostly play my condi reaper with sinister armour and dire trinkets or my condi revenant with sinister everything. They have all the survivability, damage, and fun I need to survive the repetition.
For dungeons and fractals I use either my chrono, Zerk reaper, or condi reaper as appropriate.
For PvP, I prefer to use my marauder thief, condi Rev, or condi reaper.
For WvW I use my chrono, Viper/Zerk tempest, or guard depending on the activity.
I have not touched my engineer in a long time but might bring her back out to open world once her Viper gear is complete.
When farming maps I tend to use my condi thief.
I don’t like warrior so never play her anymore since the trait rework.
I also have a condi chrono that is dead in the water.
Yes, I think it is. Especially because of the sheer survivability I have in the raid environment. I also take her to WvW and help portal golems and people around as necessary. Additionally, alacrity works really well on all of the siege types to speed up captures or aid in quicker trebuchet/cannon/arrow cart attacks.
However, if you are expecting to do a lot of damage, it is not the class for you. Next to Ranger, they have some of the weakest power damage. Sadly, their condi is only barely starting to improve but it is still sub par when you see the output from a condi reaper, engineer, revenant, or ranger (especially in WvW). Also, the greatsword damage is miserable so you will want sword/sword or sword/shield. Maybe sword/focus to pull people off the towers and walls. That will put you in front-line melee and relying on those survivability skills.
As for PvP, I only take the meta classes there (reaper, dd, Rev) but the good mesmers can do a lot, it is just not my thing.
So I just got my first legendary, Nevermore, and was hoping I would have a way to pick the sigils I want on it so that when I moved it between my characters, it wouldn’t be adverse to the rest of their build. For example, I would want condi type sigils for my necro (malice & bursting) and then power ones for my tempest (force and might on swap)… and healing ones for my druid (transference & heal on hit).
Sadly, this is not the case and I gave in and went with a sigil of bursting and sigil of force (I had the force already) because it seemed the best way to encompass all my characters that would use it. I also just put my condi infusions on it and sighed in frustration.
This then got me thinking… what about legendary armour, once it comes out? Are we going to be getting it just for another skin—not like the effects will overlay with the legendary weapon? What is the point of having stat changing capabilities on any of these if we cannot also change the sigil or runes on them? They are just going to sit on one character for one build at that point… and we might as well have just made ascended versions for power/condi/WvW/support as appropriate, each with the desired runes because it would cost so much less.
<tinfoil hat>The thing I worry about is that ANET planned this for purposes of selling more of those extractors… </tinfoil hat>
I have heard a couple decent suggestions from guildies but wanted other ideas on how ANET could potentially fix this flaw in their design… at least I see it as a major flaw in having a stat-changing item.
1) Make the runes/sigils bound to the character instead of the item so things can be moved around and not constantly redone because the build is different. Unfortunately, this would be a massive change to how things are done so I passed it off as infeasible.
2) The legendary acts like princess and consumes the runes/sigils and you build up your selection ability that way (thus still having to pay for/obtain them the usual way… but only once).
Honestly… I just want to select them like we do in PvP…
Chaos gloves… letting you be a beaming target in WvW
I agree with this. I definitely noticed the increased difficulty when healing during Gorse because of folks being either in the zerg with me or off on their own slowing spirits during the splits. I really hope this is a bug and it can be returned to normal!
At least make it show up permanently for those in our squad and hover for anyone else.
I definitely noticed this when healing in Gorse yesterday… they are missing. Sure, there are hp bars in the squad UI and if you hover over someone, but not perm. I do not think it should be such a problem to show them for squad-members only or something like that. It does make it a bitter harder to heal folks when they are not there all the time.
Actually, in terms of Mallyx and that he is a demon… torment totally makes sense. As for it being on any other class, not so much. What they should do is replace any torment applications on necro with chill applications and fix chill so that it can stack properly with other necro’s and classes that do not even have DC.
As for units being immune to certain damage types… until Fire Elemental is immune to fire/burning (and same for, like, I dunno… Megadestroyer… ), I think all units should take all types of condi damage. But to be proper, units should be immune to the condi that would make sense for them to deliver instead. Like in Diablo 2… they did elemental damage/immunity correctly.
Okay… lemme think off the top of my head JP’s made trivial by gliding…
1) Iron Mine is the easiest example where you do jump downward across numerous mine carts.
2) Glide from the lighthouse in LA four times to get the JP chests in Trolls Revenge.
3) Activate “saving” glider in the pirate JP in LA at the end.
4) Gliding in SW JP in spots instead of missing a beam/ledge that you need to fall to.
5) Glide from the cow tower in Ascalon area (that vista point after cow cannon) to the top of the JPs in both directions (maybe… not sure on distance but lean techniques, etc.).
6) That JP in the lava area of a volcano has parts that are downward overall.
7) Glide from start to end on the JP where you carry a bomb to the end past all those birds.
8) The JP(s) in Queensdale are all downward.
9) The pirate ship JP in Harathi… instead of pillars on the cliff-side, glide to boat from top of waterfall.
10) The JP in Metrica is all downward for each segment.
11) The JP in Sparkfly is also a downward (with some up if you went normal) from start to end.
12) The skipping rock JP in Southsun Cove would be easier in spots because you glide down over the stones.
Other things made trivial that are like JP’s:
1) Glide from top of JP in DryTop to anywhere in the map (like lost coins).
2) Glide around SW to get those golden badges (takes most people hours to do could now do in maybe one). Also lost coins.
My big concern about gliding in central Tyria… how are they planning to handle the existing jumping puzzles where gliding would make it a moot point or simplify them to the point of it being a glide to the final chest?
I hope they have area’s, still, around these JP’s where gliding is not allowed… and not by means of invisible walls. I spent time completing all of them myself without a mesmer providing a portal and would hate to see all the achievements mean basically nothing because we could glide to final positions in many of them. It also defeats the risk of the ones high up because you just glide to the ground and never die anymore… activate that portal and continue on. A prime example of this would be the end of the pirate JP in LA where you could select any of the three paths and just glide before you hit the bottom…
I guess it is a minor complaint but still want to know how this is being handled. Currently all I can picture is innumerable invisible walls to stop gliding from high points and going across the map to places where we should not be (think of gliding off of the lighthouse in LA for example or upper DR).
Just regenerate astral force by time and not by hit. Otherwise you will never balance it for Pve single/group content, WvW roam/zerg and PvP
Yeah… the rate of thief endurance or make it the same as Revenant energy? But then are we just a copy of them (Ventari) but with more healing power? I dunno….
Sure, something could be done to favor heal amount instead of heal/time… make it like the necro shroud and how they gain shroud from (s)kills or warrior adrenaline by being in combat to get AF gen over time. But, again, a copy of what they already have on another class.
Am I saying the copy idea is bad? No. It means they already have the mechanics and “balance” around those methods. However, be forewarned about the loss of uniqueness and all the qq’rs that go with.
Instead, it really should just be a gain by overall percentage of heal. Make the AF pool some reasonable number (Vita + Heal Power + Tough) * X and then when you heal, say, 7000 points, you get 700 (10% as an idea) of the AF pool. This is then similar to Necro but better themed for healing. It would support healers using tough/vita/heal gear but still allow solo roaming without too much consequence (everyone has that base 1k vita and 1k tough). Keep the drain over time a constant percentage, like 1% per second or something, to keep it balanced so you are not camping too hard.
You could, with skill spam, build up AF out of combat real easily, but they could alter AF out-of-combat to make it not worth it (as that seems to be what the nerfs are doing) with a 50% cap (like Revenant) or just not build up out-of-combat (or, heaven forbid, that 10% became a .1% so it takes long enough to not be worth it).
Problem then is PvP counts as continuously being in combat, right? But even now you could hide in a corner and quickly fill up AF before your team departs so I do not see a big deal there. Just means you lose that time against the other team.
I really want something with Vit, Pow, Heal; or Vit, Tough, Pow, Heal but am not seeing anything like that so, being realistic with myself and what I can afford/already have… I came up with this so far:
I just am unsure what to do for runes at this point… Altruism would be nifty but is way too expensive, same for sigil of transference so I used that benevolence one (I do not see anything else worth while). I do not see myself running around open world with this but would continue to carry my condi gear at all times and just swap on need in a raid. Once I have laurels again, I can upgrade to two rings (I do not have ecto for amulets for an off-set like this). Also have my warhorn in my bag in case I want axe/warhorn instead of the longbow, hence that trait (not that the other two are any good with the ICDs).
Regardless, I have the 1k healing power everyone says is the tipping point, the toughness should not outdo the tank but still keep me alive, vitality is decent enough to survive some condi’s, and the precision is just an unfortunate byproduct but nothing ridiculous.
(edited by Pompeia.5483)
I am using the lotus one for my condi thief… I know it is not optimal but it is really fun and lots of things that are not me die so… good enough.
I dunna get why it is such a big deal… all the groups I was with in beta and now for raids… Vale Guardian moves around a lot. When he splits, you can still move him around in tiny circles… so Torment does fine; and even without movement, I always see it do more than the burning I apply.
Still a major L2P situation going on with raids though so folks just play the ignorant game and take what they think is best because some noob on youtube or twitch said it is. Nothing can be done but find a party not filled with elitists.
other classes can get burning tickets from 9-15k
torment on rev? 4k if youre lucky
Except, where other classes get that mystical 9-15k (I have never seen that on my engi with flame-thrower…), we can get both the 4k of burning and the (not-moving) 5k on torment… then target moves and suddenly we can see ticks of 9-13k with torment alone. Thus that range is more than covered.
The thing is, we have way more sources and ability to apply torment so increasing just torment duration, though expensive (10g a rune), allows for more stacks and way more damage overall vs the only “real” source for burning being mace #2 and sigils, thus wasting a sigil spot on additional burning vs, say, bursting & corruption that helps all of them. Because, really, the elite is not worth it, even for the burning trait when we have torment via mace 1 & 3, axe 5, and UA in addition to crit procs.
is there any site with calculator to see this things ? gw2skill is not updated with viper gear yet.
Look under power. I wish the site designer would have put it under both but… alas.
Regardless, the duration calculation, I think, is off. Everyone says they get around 30-40% from viper armor but that site tells me 13.8%. Even adding in Viper weapons, I only get to 21.7%. It also does not add the global condi duration to your specific ones so keep in mind you have to mentally add the numbers when you look for that 100% everyone worships.
I know my build could use some work since I specifically used runes of Grenth and the sigil of chilling to help chill since, with all sinister, it does 1.1k a tick in addition to all the other damage. But now that I have been making use of Epidemic in open-world PvE, and likely Poison Cloud in Raids, I am agreeing more with the global condi duration over focusing so much in chill. However, once I do that, I will miss those 13-15k ticks of burning I was getting.
Yeah… I have a feeling he took the rest of the year off so we will not see if fixed till next. If he was finishing the class and fixing Corruption, he would likely tell us on the forums.

Honestly, you will get more of a gain from ascended weapons and trinkets than you ever would with ascended armor. Personally, that is all I am going to go for. The biggest benefit you will have from the ascended armor is, if you do not like the build, you can respec the armor at the mystic forge. Exo cannot do that.
However, if you still want that, just be careful about Rabid because you will draw the boss’ threat from having so much toughness. I went with a mix of Sinister and Apothecary and seemed to do well but reconsidering the two Apothecary items for Viper’s or something. If you want to remain a hybrid, Vipers is going to outshine Sinister.
Since condi rev is decent/let’s say it works for PvE melee fights, what happens in ranged fights?
Or am I missing the point and this is a PvP focused thread?
Yeah… I struggle in ranged fights with condi. Most of the time what I will do is find an opening between the boss/mob’s attacks that pummel melee and rush in using axe4, follow with a quad-cast of Anguish, then dodge roll the heck out of range again. Meanwhile, I just cast mace2 and axe5 as much as I can and, when I have control, mace3 since the ranged effect carries torment to the target. Basically… no mace-AA. So DPS suffers a bit.
However, during these times between bursts, I often swap to Glint and hit the regen, might, and fury facets to help party members. Then you can also use the heal while closing a boss/mob early to stay alive for a couple seconds and take those big attacks. This way, if the party is not already keeping those maxed on their own (it can happen), you are basically using the party to compensate for your loss in DPS.
Oh, thank you bunches! I had no idea.
I forgot to mention ecto gambling. There are some guildy’s of mine that have made over 2500g doing that… but that will require virgin sacrifices to rngesus.
Also look for opportunities to flip mats into commodities (like IRL). Depending on the time of day, and how much gold you have already, you can convert flax to linseed oil for about a 50s-1g profit per oil. Just watch for folks selling things abysmally low and buy them up. Get enough and sell all the oil. Same goes for ore and ingots. This is something that shinies site cannot tell you about.
If you just notice what is really needed for things (oil is required, en-mass, for GH upgrades, oiled (vipers/minstrel) armor, and Nightfury and likely new legendaries too) you can turn a profit playing to others’ laziness to make the items from raw materials themselves. Just be careful because it can bite you back if you overdo it and run into a point where the supply outdoes demand and prices plummet.
Also, lots of SW runs and selling that course sand you get… mega money now that will likely drop in the future when no one needs it for GH upgrades anymore.
And other stat combinations going across the armour types. Is this not possible yet? I was looking around wiki and dulfy to see how to make Marauders for my guard because I die in zerk too much and ended up only finding it, in part, given to medium armour wearers.
I get that I can craft Viper and Minstrel for all but… what about these ones you get for story completion only at this point? I am totally fine with exotic armor and crafting it but have yet to see any recipes for the others
.
Oh, and learning Cavalier is only obtainable from fractals was a sad moment too… are they locking armour types to events as well? I am also still annoyed to not see any Keepers recipes from the pact merchants that move around since 60g per is ridiculous (and I accidentally made two insignia before I knew about stat swap via the forge).
I should think this would be part of that build diversity thing…
Yeah, I agree there is some weird crack-like addiction thing going on… I basically played all but the 16 hours of sleep I got this weekend. Heck, I even got so busy going from one event to the other, map completing, etc. that I forgot to eat until nighttime and 24 hours since the last time I had done so.
Also, I know it is only going to get worse with raids. GG Anet, you got me hooked
Scrapyard felt way too easy when I ran around alone and I easily got all 30 for gold. Of course, not record breaking by any means… but super simple. Do not see any reason to go back.
Bugs in Branches seems a good challenge but once you figure out the route, I bet it is easy. Still count it as medium to me as my five attempts still only got me to silver.
Tendril Torching… frustrating trying to know where all the vines are as many of them blend in or are so small you miss them… then, without a guide, I have yet to figure out where to go. I only barely got silver and likely will not go back till I watch a guide.
Shooting Gallery… I want to stab someone for this. I used to play a LOT of CS:S in college and this… this is harder >.< It took me forever just to get bronze. So far, this is the one I will try to get gold on last.
Ley-Line Run… after seeing it on the release countdown video, I wanted to play it and beat that 34s time… best I have gotten is 37s and I spent nearly an hour doing it over and over… easily the most fun one to me and something I will go back to once all the birthday boosters wear off.
I have yet to do any of the others. Based on reading this thread, I will wait until I have speed mushroom unlocked.
