Soooo…. Anyone got one of these or both of them? I want to get a better gaming mouse (using a sharkoon fireglider now ><).
I got a Razer Naga and it made this game SO much more enjoyable.
With that said I’ve gone through two of them in the last few years. Not the most durable thing but still a good purchase imo.
I think this game can learn that force feeding player housing is a bad idea. Nothing but outrage in most mmo communities regarding the decision and content direction wow made. I think the time for GW2 to capitalize on this is now. When will we get raiding content and possible guild halls (not player housing).
I think a good way to “capitalize” on it would be to introduce high quality player housing not avoid it b/c they did it wrong.
I enjoyed leveling my first character to 80.
My second was pretty fun too.
My third was a little rough. (leveling scrolls helped)
My fourth… ugh. It was bad.
I wont be leveling another until I get some more tomes of knowledge. I may finish up my human necromancer though. I’m not sure yet.
“What would tempt you to make a new character?”
New Races
New Professions
Free Total Makeover Content
Instant level 60+(prefer 80 but I would do it for 60)
I have trouble playing as Charr.
Kind of strange b/c I really like their culture. War like, strong, poweful, seems kind of “right-wing” in a way. However, having played GW1 I hate them on a deep level that I have to really RP to even play one. I do have one on my account but I have never leveled him past 30… Too many bad memories.
Love the idea OP. I know WoodenPotatoes uses Immersive Combat Mode
I would really like an in game way to clean up the UI though. Maybe just make everything able to be toggled on/off and moved.
I also wish we had a racial UI theme we could pick similar to Starcraft 2.
Sometime I try playing with Ctrl+Shift+H active. But it gets to be a little troublesome with loot, NPS, bag storage, map travel, etc. It does feel really good playing with usch an open screen though.

Do you really think they would introduce a new class or raids in a LS update? Because thats what you are saying. I know its possible. But its very unlikely.
Class, no.
Raids, no.
Raid (singular), yes.I think the first raids will be in a feature update, and not really connect to the LS. They’ll be separate, and they’ll refine them a bit to get them to where they want them to be. THEN they’ll release the occasional one with the LS, and see how that goes.
You can easily introduce a new class outside an expansion pack via LW. Just look at LOTRO. Arenanet can monetise it via gem store.
I also hope that the will introduce the first raid via LW or feature pack. we have to see what kind this raid will be and philosophy behind. It would be very risky to launch several raids via X-pack or as a pack via gem store and the players hate all of them.
I would prefer an expansion via LW/feature packs. The reason is the real-time-feeling the LW can produce. It does not mean that I am not willing to pay for certain aspects like a new class or raid via gem store.
It is clear for me that the current treatment of the LW concept will never enable the delivery of larger chunks of World beside the core story. The current LW team and manpower is simply too small without support from other teams. This lesson season 2 taught us. If Season 3 is one of the big projects in the background LW could easily reach a much larger dimension with a lot of new zones, skills weapons and even a new class or race. But we know nothing about the so secret projects.
Another problem is the communication of Arenanet. We still do not know what LW really means for the company. Is it a filler then they put too much effort in it. It is something bigger then they currently put too less effort in it. Was Season 2 still a test? Was it the optimum of LW Areanet want to deliver?
I think this is a great point. Knowing the direction the game is going would mean a TON.
I also know I may not be in the target demographic anymore. I can accept that and if the future of the game is best served by going in directions I’m not comfortable with that’s fine. However, I want to play a game that fits me a bit better if so. I don’t think I’m ever going to be one of those “that’s it I’m leaving” folks… hopefully. lol
Either way they decide I want GW2 to succeed. Gw1 was my first real MMo (well that could be debatable) and the GW brand will always be special to me.
I am honestly surprised how many people on here don’t want an expansion. I mean I understand not having the money to buy one or just being a slow casual gamer who likes not being left behind (so the Living Story works well for them).
However, people are making the argument (unless I misunderstood) that they think the Living Story is actually a effective way to grow them game. I just don’t see it. The pace is So slow and the devs have proven they can’t even keep that pace up without having to take extended breaks, which is fine. Making games is hard work. But I think so many games in the past have proven the expansion model is super efficient and brings more hype and interest in the game. Not to mention the huge cash flow.
Idk, I very well may be wrong but I just am not happy at all with the Living Story being the primary method to expand the game. It’s just too slow and feels like it lacks depth (this recent season has persuaded me a bit on the depth part though).
One thing you’re forgetting here: Guild Wars 2 is the first game to ever attempt the Living Story style content. Season 1 was a huge, risky experiment, but you know what? ANet feels it paid off. That’s why we’re in Season 2, with Season 3 (likely) approaching.
Saying “so many games in the past have proven the expansion model is super efficient and brings more hype and interest in the game” is stupid because expansions are all anybody else has tried. Your statement insinuates that other methods have been shown ineffective, but that is definitely not the case because other methods haven’t been attempted yet.
Well, I wouldn’t call it stupid. -_-
I do think the reason it has been repeated is b/c it works so well. I do appreciate Anet’s desire to innovate though. That’s why GW2 is such a good game imo. Who knows LS may work for most people in this game. If so I will be very disappointed but I’m not going to get mad or anything. I’ll just have to invest in another game and set GW2 as a second or third option. Which may be exactly what they are going for. It is obviously working well for them so far. As far as I can tell the game is doing pretty well.
Personally (for whatever that is worth) I dislike the current model Anet is using. It feels slow to release and the content seems rushed out the door. Plus, it usually only keep me occupied for a day or so until I’ve done all that interest me. Again though, that may just have to do with my play style. From my own past experiences though expansions usually lasted me long enough to get to the next one. Well, in other games anyway.
Look at it this way: you can have parts of the expansion for free every two weeks or you can have it all for $40.00 in a year or two.
I know it’s a different method to gain new content. But, so far, Living Story has worked to progress the world in a realistic method. Events happen over time and slowly.
Not instantly and all of the sudden as with an expansion.
While I’m not saying no to an expansion, ever, I am saying I understanding the reasoning behind why ArenaNet has not yet released one given the episode-like nature of Living Story.
In a way, it’s kind of like chapters from the original Guild Wars. Each ‘chapter’ there was an expansion. Each ‘chapter’ here is a season involving the Elder Dragons.
If that makes sense.
It does actually. ty.
I really have enjoyed this current LS season. A lot of the content was really cool. Specifically some of the nods to the lore. I’m just not sure a new living story chapter will ever draw in an audience like a true to form expansion would. Plus, I’m one of those people who could play an expansion for a year or so and have a bit of overlap between it and the next one. This way I could also have something to do instead of just logging back in every few weeks for a day or so then not showing back up again until another bit drops.
That may just be due to my play style though. I like to explore and have new stories unfold as I go. LS has been slow going and I’d rather have a larger amount drop at once. I’m not sure the LS price fits the actual content either… well unless you log in and get it free. Then the price is pretty great actually.
I am honestly surprised how many people on here don’t want an expansion. I mean I understand not having the money to buy one or just being a slow casual gamer who likes not being left behind (so the Living Story works well for them).

Expanssions do the 1 thing ANet said they did not want to do… Split the player base.
if they make an expanssion the playerbase will be separated b2ing expanssion owners and none. This gap will reduce player base in both camps and creates a toxic enviroment, as well as now they have to do LS for both.
Also this same handfull of people (minority) that are crying there is nothing to do now, will finish the expanssion in a month and start to whine again that they have nothing to do and they neeeeeed another expanssion.
Living story can and has delivered everything an expanssion does (weapons, armor, land, etc) and has done it in a well paced manner allowing the playerbase to stay mostly together, and providing a sence of progression.
I do however would like more substancial and regular updates even if I have to wait for 1 a month b2ing updates.
Careful. You’re going to hurt yourself stretching that much. :p
I really don’t think the 2 small and 1 large maps count as an expansions worth of real estate. Also, the weapons and skills released are minimal at best. We also don’t have a new race yet.
In essence Living Story has proven it can releases an expansions worth of content but definitely not at an equivalent rate (compared to other games including GW1).
(edited by Prophet.6257)
“What if expansion doesnt come in 2015?”
Then another year will have passed where I (and all my friends) didn’t spend a dime on GW2. We have all decided to spend money elsewhere until an expansion is released.
Hopefully they do release one though. I look forward to giving Anet lots of my money for huge amounts of content.
O_O
well done.
Wow.
One Mount topic disappears from 1st page, then another pops up.
Passionate players…Fixed that for ya’.
Seriously though if it gets brought up so much maybe their is some merit to actually adding it in game.
Well, expanding it since we technically do have “mounts”.
The same posters and their friends wanting the same things posting over and over and bumping each others threads is not passionate it is childish.
Sorry, didn’t know that is what has been going on for the last 2 years or so.
Maybe it’s just the same posters and their friends saying no in every thread?
No seriously, I have no idea…
:(
well crud…
GW2’s first expansion screenshots have been revealed in a press conference.
I know this isn’t what the topic was about but I just had to. Please don’t ban me
pics or it didn’t happen…
(please let this be true)
Wow.

1.) New Maps
2.) New Playable Races.
3.) More Lore
4.) New Weapons
5.) New Skills
1.) Mounts
2.) Housing
3.) Guild Halls
4.) Internet Rage
:P
New race creation unlock.
Just add a couple new races in the Gem Store.
Let then have refugee status in one of the other races home instance so if the player wants they can play through that races personal story OR make it an instant level 80 OR only available for level 80 characters. I don’t really care.
Just whatever way to get new races (even minor races like Skritt).
This is a weird thing to get upset over… :\
Agreed.
Same thing here.
I tried using the /stuck command out of desperation but it just teleports you to the start of the mission behind walls you can’t get passed.
“Could an interracial couple reproduce?”
I really hope so. I think the combinations would be incredible. Especially if a player could purchase a “lesser-race / cross-race” pack and play from their perspective.
Glaustian
They were born from the essence of Glint when she was killed.
They are largely humanoid in form but have crystalline scars over their skin and glowing eyes. Their bodies have slight deformities in the shape of crystal structures but these vary from Glaustian to Glaustian. They each have a small part of Glint within them and this gives them their life force.
Their cultural home would be in the Crystal Desert. I envisage an underground crystalline cave, much like glints lair except less bright and colourful. Their structures made from rock and crystal hybrid. At the centre would lie a giant crystal formation where Glaustians would meet and make important decisions for their race.
Wow man.
That is a great concept. Anet please do something like this. The lore and history that could be born out of a race like this would be amazing.
“Oh, my stars, I’ve “lost faith” in ANet!" flips open fold-out fan and wafts furiously
Stop with all this faith and betrayel and belief nonsense. ANet is not a religion! And if you think it is then heed the teachings of the six human gods and optionally disavow the undeserving usurper Kormir!
faith noun \?f?th\
: strong belief or trust in someone or something
Not sure about everyone else but that’s how I meant it.
As far as Kormir goes… I could not agree more. Kills the false god!
I like just about everything you said.
+1 for Mounts
+1 for Account Bound WP unlocks
+1 for better LFG toolThe troll brings their second account in to agree with themself.
hey now. I’ve been trolling a lot longer than he’s even had an account… I think.
I wonder how hard it would be for Anet to develop a custom censorship option for the chat windows?
If anything it could be kind of fun to see how chat looked…
I had this idea for guilds where ANet could introduce a new UI under the guild menu, which gives players access to a list of guilds that currently exist in the game, with filter options to search by name, amount of members, home worlds, nationality/language and guild themes or focuses (eg, roleplaying guilds, dungeon guilds, wvw guilds, etc). Likewise, for the guilds themselves, introduce a new section under the guild menu where the guild leader can tick checkboxes that pertain to what kind of content they focus on (for example, a roleplaying guild would tick the checkbox for roleplaying, whereas a multi-role guild could tick multiple checkboxes that pertain to what they do, like guild missions, dungeons, daily events, wvw, etc).
Good ideas OP.
This would make life a lot easier for new players too.
Ok so here is my issue:the pve experience to me after the first character is horrible. we have to go re explore the same locations over and over and over again. Spend hours walking to just get the wp by a dungeon that we may or may not be able to complete. the LFG system is pathetic considering the fact that it will not port you from any where on the map inside the dungeon.
so here are my 3 fixes to improve the pve experience for people that plan to or are leveling more then 1 toon:
1) give us mounts! OMG i know i said the dreaded m word, but here is why: yes there are lots of wps in the world but you still have to go near them to unlock them witch equates into countless hours of walking around. Mounts will increase our speed and still alow for the exploration of the world in its entirety. i would ask for land and water mounts similar to the pet systems for a ranger.
2) make WP’s account unlock so we can port to where we want to go on a new toon after one of our toons has been there. some of us players just want to get to a cetain dungeon or spot in an area w/o the hassle of walking through it all over again. POI and Vistas will still remain toon unlocks and if a player wants to get the map completion they will sstill have to go and get all of those per toon. thus preserving the exploration factor with event systems of players helping players.
3) fix the LFG system to make it port you inside the dungeon its self. when you leave it returns you to the last location of you toon. this will keep the same feel for the game as it has now but for those of us who pvp/wvw/ and eotm level out toons we are no longer punished for not exploring the majority of the world when we just want to do a few dungeons.
I really hope you guys consider and implement one of these fixes as to improve the pve experience for pvp, wvw, and eotm levelers as well as the game as a whole. Thank you for you time.
I like just about everything you said.

I think the majority on this forum and playerbase don’t expect ArenaNet to deliver any amazing content like an expansion or a huge content update. Some guy said ArenaNet are working on “stuff”. And? Show a tiny fracture of that stuff and we might believe you. Just a little hint.
I hope they do eventually.
I am starting to lose a bit of faith they ever will though.
Personally (duh) I prefer large content drops over the small bits here and there. Seems like a large injection of cash would do the company some good and maybe bring some of the player base back as well. I know several people who have moved on to other games because they though the game world would never grow.
Obviously they were wrong but not by much considering the maps we got thus far.

For the 6,373,572,819,005,726,473 time: YES!
:P
As with everything it will only hold players attention as long as it is entertaining. GW2 offered a good year of replayability before too many people started complaining about no new content. GW1 had similar results and as they started to release the expansions players were satisfied. It also gave players hope knowing that in the near future a new chunk of Tyria would become available.
Without a doubt though it would be met with more positivity than the current model. Not saying LW doesn’t have its place in GW2 just not as the main engine for content.
hello everyone!
today debate topic is:
“PvE players are demanding and impossible to satisfy”
i think this is true, just look at the PvE forums!
every day, there will always be various players complaining about lack of PvE content, keeps on asking for more content, and when free new content is delivered, they quickly gobble it up, complains again, and then continues to ask for more!
they are not being appreciative of what we have, and keeps on asking for more.
personally, i think ANet is burning out their precious employees by attempting to satisfy the PvE mob that can never be satisfied.
their precious human resources ought to be better spent else where, not just on the PvE mob.
so what do you think?
Release a full expansion and you will satisfy a HUGE percentage of the player base.
But you can never satisfy 100% of consumers.
There’s no point unless I can get my friends to take another look at it. MMO’s are all about community and while I’m sure that there are still plenty of people playing, I need MY guys playing for it to really be fun.
Basically GW2 needs an expansion. Badly. It’s such a great game (mechanics/design) it just needs an expansion level content boost to get people to give it another shot.
My personal dream would be of a more sandbox style addition to the game.
Just my 2ยข
Great points imo.
I’m having similar trouble with my crew. They have mostly gone back to WoW for their expansion. The others have just gone to other games. I think an expansion could bring some hype and interest back to these people.
I’d like to see a Mounts in this game for sure.
1.) They should be primarily cosmetic.
2.) A great utility for explorers.
3.) Have a tiered speed bonus.
Basic: +5% Movement Speed
Fine: +10% Movement Speed
Masterwork: +15% Movement Speed
Rare: +25% Movement Speed
Exotic: +33% Movement Speed
Ascended: +33% Movement Speed
Legendary: +33% Movement Speed
The view from the top of Mount Maelstrom impresses me every time I see it.
However, that very first time I saw it completely blew me away. It was so cool how big the world felt and how free I felt as a player to explore something so awesome.
:)
Not really, Stooperdale, as this differs from the others. The difference is not in consume or destroy, but why consume or destroy.
The short of my interpretation:
- Zhaitan seeks to rule as a leader.
- Jormag seeks to be worshipped.
- Kralkatorrik seeks to own.
- Mordremoth seeks to destroy.
- Primordus seeks to kill.
For Jormag and Zhaitan, destroying is merely eliminating opposition.
For Mordremoth, corruption is just a means to an end (annihilation).
For Kralkatorrik, corruption is the goal, destroying is just so there is nothing that is not corrupted (a means to an end).
For Primordus, both is the goal.
Via my interpretation at least.
Is this what the “spheres of influence” are?
The more I look at this word on the map, the more it looks like Misandry.(see attachment 1) This was the word, in the upper right hand corner of Tyira, wooden potato couldn’t translate, thinking it was foundry with an extra A.
Is Anet playing a joke or something? the word appears right next to a place that looks like it’s labeled “not real”.
Anyways, attachment 2 is what I’ve gotten so far
I hope it doesn’t say that.
Bad form by Anet if so.
I really like the idea of it being “foundry”. It give me hope that there are other cultures and people groups out there somewhere. The other option is just distasteful.
We have 2 mounts already but they don’t give any speed bonuses.
In fact using them actually slows you down considering the fact you can’t use your speed boost abilities. They should at minimum offer an equivalent “run” skill that several weapons do.
My Votes:
More Mounts – Yes
More Mount Skills – Yes
If anything they should move this in under the instrument slider.
This.
Not sure why it isn’t already?
The lack of waypoints is good. I wish, however, that there were more merchants on the map. Managing inventory is kind of a pain.
Dude……WvW Borderland. Try it.
I have. It’s boring. Because WvW is nothing but a boring, one-dimensional zerg-fest.
He means port to Borderlands, use the merchants, then “leave WvW”. Takes you right back to where you where.
Buy gems and convert to gold.
This.
The most recent update is really good in comparison to the previous ones.
Time will tell if it is on the same level as GW1. It may be worth checking out OP.
Loved all of it.
I’m very pleased with the direction the story is going.
Internally they were referred to as the Biconics.
Basically the B Team.
Scylla
Named from a seas monster in Greek mythology.
God of War had a cool rendition of it.
Canthan is not Asian.
They get to take some artistic liberties.
Actually Canthan is very North-East Asian design influenced, not complete Asian influenced, because Asia would include Malayan, Philippines, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Cambodian, Thai culture influences.
But we do not see that in Canthan designs.
Influenced yes but not in fact Asian.
This being a fantasy world and all Anet does get to set the rules of how their own cultures are defined.
Which does not mean we are not allowed to discuss the cultures they take elements from, and/or express concerns if they steer close to harmful stereotypes.
Fair enough.
Didn’t mean to imply discussion wasn’t an option. Personally I don’t see anything hurtful in this design though. jmo
