LOL, well done OP.

I think Anet has enough of a sense of humor to leave this thread up. Their “don’t tell the community anything” policy got old about a year ago and I’ve moved GW2 down my list of what I’m playing though. Definitely not something I’m spending money on now.

Maybe they will release some positive Expansion news one day and I can get back to throwing money at them.

Scarlet. i would push her character even harder from now on. I would have her return from the Mist after having killed Rytlock and stolen his sword and the crown. She now would control all the ghost and be the “rightful heir of Ascalon”. I would then make the Charr into absolute bumbling idiots. They would all just agree that she’s the boss now and start invading zones with new (aka re-skinned) enemies and events.

Next I would push the lesbian, gay, transgender angle to the point of absurdity. Forget just offending Christians, conservatives, and people who in general don’t like that kind of stuff in games. I would go all out and make the most annoying, hyperactive, flamboyant, and self righteous homosexual character ever seen. The character would have no sense of humor and constantly be passive aggressive toward the player. To top it off they would be ultra religious and worship Kormier (yes they would spell it wrong in game). This would fuel every personal story, living world, feature pack, and gem store release. Your character would be forced to choose between loving Kormier or being scared to death of her and constantly cowering away from her… ahem… awesomeness.

Then I would completely reset everyone’s world completion and introduce the new dynamic world exploration panel. For a small fee your character would be able to unlock each individual waypoint for only 150 gems each. Of course this would be character bound and the old way of unlocking a waypoint would be gone.

Finally I pull a Game of Thrones and kill off people’s favorite characters and always hint that dragons are on their way but never actually give them any.

… plus add queue times to login, reduce servers to 9 total, add a subfee with no real benefit, change all armor to costumes, and split each zone into even more square/rectangle sections with more arbitrary mountains cutting them in pieces.

That should do the trick but just in case I would then make every white knight still around a moderator on the forums so they could ban anyone who dared to have a differing opinion than my perfectly designed direction for the game.

I just wanted to add my proposal:

The ability to be in more than 5 guilds

two would be one too much. Alliances are for a reason…

The 5 guild limit is too low. I’m a pretty social person and would like to see that number at least double. Different groups of people focus on different things. You can’t expect every guild to care about everything, and GW2 has enough in it to require membership in multiple guilds to have friendly teams in each area of the game. No need to limit players enjoyment or make people rely on PUGs /barf.

…as according to Anet they had over 10,000 testers …

as according to ANet they never developed a tutorial because it was too time demanding and hard to fit in… but according to another source of ANet they did a tutorial and was proved a bad move.

For this and all other things (manifesto included),* I no longer trust ANet in anything they say. * Specially in something so ridiculous as having 10K testers when with only 5 players at least half of their mistakes would’ve been avoided.

I have heard this SO many time over the past few months. At first I thought it was just a few upset people but I think it’s starting to become a sizable number of players and former players.

Anet needs to be very concerned about this trend and try to garner some trust in the community.

Proposal Overview:
Guild Zones.

Goal of Proposal:
I love depth in MMOs. It is the main reason I play them over other genres. I assume there are other like me who feel the same way. Well, my idea to add more depth to GW2 involves the addition of new special themed zones with player/guild/alliance driven content. These zones will exist by districts that the player can select similar to GW1’s cities.

Proposal Functionality:
Each zone will have content that is unlock able through Gems, Gold, Dungeon Tokens, Badges of Honor, and most (if not all) other forms of currency in game at an appropriate and fair exchange rate. This is to avoid adding another currency but instead adding a vendor accepting all currencies for this feature.

Each zone will include:
——————————————-
-Keeps (Strong customization options)
-Housing (Strong customization options)
-Zone exclusive mounts
-Unique Enemies (fitting each zone)
-Unique Biconic Characters (to drive extended PvE content)
-Hard Mode
-Zone Buffs/Debuffs
-Open World Boss
-Zone PvP Toggle On/Off
-Zone Guild vs Guild Matches (some instanced version of the zone maybe)

Each zone will lack:
——————————————-
-Capitol City vendors (to keep Capitol Cities well populated)
-Multiple Waypoints (to encourage the use of mounts, but one or to to res.)

Potential Risks:
Players may be upset with the amount of time needed to get the required funds to unlock the content. It may also make content that requires more organization than is normally done in pugs.

When I buy something low quality I expect problems. When those problem arise I just remind my self “you get what you pay for” and keep it to myself.

Low Quality = Low Expectations

When I buy something of higher quality I have a certain set of standards I expect it to meet. That’s why I was willing to spend the extra money on it in the first place.

High Quality = High Expectations

Now maybe I made the mistake of assuming GW2 was a AAA MMO and in turn a high quality item but I don’t want to believe that. I loved GW1 and was starting to get heavily invest in GW2 but two years later no expansion and no announced plans for one has just caused me to move away from the game and spend money on other MMOs.

Is anyone happy anymore?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Prophet.6257

So many people I talk to are convinced the 350+ people over at Anet are just screwing around and lazy. Others tell me it takes that many people to do the Living Story (which seems unbelievable considering how little content is actually produced) However, I’ve only ever heard the idea that they are actually working on an expansion online. The arguments I’ve seen for it all sound too familiar and until Anet specifically says they are working on an expansion I will not believe it, give them hype, or get too passionate about this game.

It’s a good game. It is a solid B to C player in my “what to play” list but I only spend money on games I’m real passionate about. GW2 has just fallen out of that bracket for me.

If the world doesn’t grow neither does my passion for the game.

Is anyone happy anymore?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Prophet.6257

Prophet.6257

I’m happy with how fast the combat is but unhappy with the build diversity.

I’m happy with the Living Story but VERY unhappy with no expansion being announced yet.

I’m happy with my guild but unhappy that I can only join five.

I’m happy how beautiful the world is but unhappy that my characters can’t “own” any of it (aka housing/guild halls)

So does that mean I’m angry at Anet? No. Just that I think the game could improve in some very important ways. I think GW2 is missing out on those markets if they don’t but I’m just some guy on a video game forum talking about things I’m not trained in.

Lion’sArch Age does look good. The combat is a little slow compared to GW2 though. However, that games got depth, a seamless world map, and all the bells and whistles people keep suggesting on these forums. I could see some folks crossing over.

In reality though I think GW2 wont ever completely fall off people’s radar it will just become their 2nd, 3rd, or 4th game they go to. That’s what I plan to do until an expansion comes out.

Prophet.6257

You do know the only Dwarf left is so old he looks like his brethren (kudos if you get the reference).

Also, Asura and Sylvari could merge their zone but be on opposite sides due to cultural and historical aspects of the game. You could also have an Ebonhawke version with Humans/Charr getting the same thing.

I like the human/charr idea but I assumed a lot of the players would want a consistent cultural theme, but I would like some diversity for sure. I also hear the Asuran and Sylvari palyers complain about sharing starting zones. I guess I thought they were ready to split off a bit.

As far as the dwarf area goes it’s just for looks. A bit of a throw back to GW1 but maybe have some of those stoners running around the zone. Maybe we could get Ogden as a Biconic in their as well.

Guild Feature Pack

I love depth in MMOs. It is the main reason I play them over other genres. I assume there are other like me who feel the same way. Well, my idea to add more depth to GW2 involves the addition of new special themed zones with player/guild/alliance driven content. These zones will exist by districts that the player can select similar to GW1’s cities.

I. Guild Zones

Each zone will lack:
-Capitol City vendors (to keep Capitol Cities well populated)
-Multiple Waypoints (to encourage the use of mounts, but one or to to res.)

II. Guild Armor, Color, Logo Additions
-Pretty obvious here…
-Add as many colors and logos as possible
-Maybe to keep it simple, just add the ability to display the Guild logo on any armor set.

III. Add Alliances
-Just because. :p

Anyway, I know that is asking way too much so I apologies in advance. However, what would you like to see if Anet ever released a Guild Feature Pack?

(Also, here is a rough image of what and where the zones could be located. No don’t worry about using land on the map. Tyria is a big world.)

Why did Rytlock fail (if he actually did fail)? He didn’t bother to get Dougal Keane involved. I mean, come on, the guy is just standing around in LA…huge oversight to not bring him into a storyline about Ascalon, the Foefire, ghosts, and old relics.

YES! 1000x over yes.

This character is so cool. I wonder if we get him involved with the Biconics story some.
Heck, I’ve love to see him as a regular character along with some of his’ other allies. No spoilers.

Expansion or end of franchise?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Prophet.6257

Prophet.6257

Personally, since the Living Story only released a very small map I’ve basically been inactive and not spending money in game. GW2 is becoming a second or third game option for me right now.

I played GW1 for years. Played in GW2’s beta. Followed every article written on Massivly. Listened to Guildcast with Rubi and Shawn. Watched every episode of Guildcast through Gamebreaker. And still listen to every Visualwood podcast.

But still, the lack of content in game just can’t keep my attention. Eventually, I’ll end up moving on to something else or just not spend money until an expansion is released (or an actually amount of expansion content is released; more maps, professions, races, weapons, skills, features, etc.) I’m not mad about it or angry at Anet but I’m also fully drained of all hype and goodwill for this game. I do trust it will have real content added someday but until then I’ll be spending the majority of my money and time on other things.

Prophet.6257

Hi all,

We are closing to the 2nd birthday of the game. Those who have pre-started the game willl have at least 1 character that turns to 2 at 25th of August.

I think we get the usual bday booster, some very “exciting” mini and the experience scroll.

But for the 2nd bday of the game i was awating something bigger. New race, precursor scavenger hunt, new dungeon etc…

What you think we get?
How will GW2 celebrate the 2nd?

Cheers,
Beer

I think we get the same thing as last year but with a different mini.

I very much doubt we get any “new race, precursor scavenger hunt, new dungeon…” but hopefully I’m wrong.

Female human greatsword holding stance

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Prophet.6257

Does anyone else dislike their running style?

It is like my character is barely dragging her greatsword while running and it seems so awkward.

It is the same with their jumping animation, it’s so weak. She’s a warrior for goodness sake!

Is it possible to change their walking animation, where they put the greatsword across their shoulders, to their running animation? Or change it to match the male human style?

Well in all fairness the human female models look like that is exactly how they would HAVE to carry it. However, the over the should look would be really cool.

For that matter, I wonder if Anet will ever add a feature that allows players to select what animation they want to use for their character. I would be willing to buy it in the gem store if need be.

Prediction: Why Rytlock Failed

Prophet.6257

“According to legend, if either this sword or its sister returns to the haunted remains of Ascalon City in the hands of the rightful king of Ascalon, the ghosts there will finally be laid to rest.”

The reason it failed is because Rytlock isn’t a rightful king of Ascalon.

All of the heirs of Ascalon kings are dead… except for one that we know of… Commander Samuelsson.

I believe Ebonhawke will become a very important location for us to visit soon.

Hail King Samuelsson!

I’m sure the treaty would split the kingdom but who cares. To have Ascalon back would be amazing.

Prediction: Why Rytlock Failed

in Living World

Posted by: Prophet.6257

Prophet.6257

I have a sneaking suspicion we need Rurik himself to fix this, and the sword was fully aware of that, opening a portal to the underworld because it is trying to return to its rightful owner. So within the next few weeks we will travel there ourselves to get Rytlock back, only to meet Rurik, who will probably mention the PC’s similarities to the GW1 PC, and help us. Of course this also means we have to probably make a deal with Grenth to get this done, and there’s no telling what he’ll want in exchange.

Yes to all of this.

Rytlock opens UW up again(spoilers)

in Living World

Posted by: Prophet.6257

Prophet.6257

I may be just getting happy for nothing, as my imagination is bigger than all out doors.

I am hoping that Rytlock following The Sword Sohothin, will eventually bring on a quest, that we will have to force open the UW and/or FoW to go after him.

Then all shall rejoice after that story completes, and we can go back into UW and FoW as the new 10 to 20 man Raid style dungeons are Re Imagined using the GW2 engine.

Come on you know you want this to happen, just a little.

I love it! Great imagination indeed.

Personally, I’d like to see Prince Rurik play some sort of role in it as well since he could be in the UW (or Hall of Heroes) and Rytlock is looking for Rurik’s sword. Maybe he helps him out to save Ascalon from the swords curse one day down the road? He and his father didn’t exactly see eye to eye.
