Absolutely agree. Other games have this since years. It’s something that simply shouln’t be a problem. It’s ridiculous for a title like GW2 really…
Just make it like in most other games, where you just give the ‘leader’ to another player if he leavs or the leader just can give his leadership to a different player (like in WoW). This has been a problem from the beginning and should be addressed. Maybe it’s harder to fix, be cause they have a different system. I don’t know.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
To put it simple; Legendaries are for very dedicated people who invest a lot of time. It’s simply not for you. To be fair Anet always told that they are well BiS gear but not better than other (now ascended) weapons. That said: you don’t have to do it. You won’t be stronger with a legendary, it’s prestige, a vanity item.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
As it seems, they don’t need to make huge additional content, if they can sell stuff on gem store together with this lackluster, shallow content updates they give us at the moment.
Why put energy in new zones, campaign, area, continent, races, professions, crafting, weapons etc. etc. if it is not needed? I still hope, but am still very disappointed after over a year. Never expected such lackluster, boring, festivity, zerg-oriented shallow non-content like this.
There are some good parts though, the two temporary dungeons and now the new permanent (yay) dungeon next week. My hopes haven’t died :-)
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Art design, unique world, combat system, music (though i want more diversity, far too many locations have same music).
‘would of been’ —> wrong
While Guild Halls would be nice it’s not really important. Honestly, Guild Halls in GW1 were just some space only for your guild you had, nothing else. We met up there for some events like dungeons or elite missions, but not more. You can do that as well at a different location (we meet up in Divinity’s Reach if we do Guild Missions).
There are a lot more important things that need to be implemented or done.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
I’d appreciate it. I like areas where i simply can’t go cuz i am too weak. Working my way up – let’s say to 90 – would be fun. I like progression. That said, the legendaries should scale to 90 of course. I just have one thing to say: don’t add ascended to lvl 90. It would be ridiculous :-)
Btw i am a GW1 veteran (since prophecies, about 4.5k hours played).
‘would of been’ —> wrong
That said, one of my biggest complains is that we don’t have templates. And even then the even bigger problem is gear. Just an example: my first lvl 80 was an asura mesmer. She used to have be a high critting condition applying duelist with rampager gear. So now i want to play a zerker mesmer. I have to kittening get ALLE THE kitten gear, including ALLE THE ASCENDED equipment again.
This is just broken, it’s not only for my mesmer. I did the same with my main – the Guardian. First – pretty noobish back in october 2012 – i had PVT gear. Then i decided to go for cleric. And now i use a combination of knight’s armor and zerker trinkets. I have now about 3 sets ascended trinkets. Each costing me a kittenload of time (daily —> laurels; weekly guild missions and fractals) just to make another build effective. New builds are tied to the gear we have and this costs time. One of the grindier games – WoW – made it far more efficient. Your gear doesn’t change (at least not significantly in stats if you play PvE only). If i decided to go switch from frost mage to fire, i just could change my skills. The gear remainded the same.
This has to be considered. It was no big deal for me with exotics but it IS one now with ascended gear. I play 6 different professions at the moment (some more some less, but still). And this makes it even worse. They really have to change there something if they want us ‘to play the way you want’. It’s simply not true with the setup they have now.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
(edited by ProtoGunner.4953)
I partially agree. You guys forget the GW1 meta game. While the combinations were almost infinite most players had some builds they run for months. Simply be cause other builds were not as effective. Like the Discord builds, the SoS builds, the Pain Inverter builds. There were few tweaks here and there but that’s comparable to the utilities we have now.
I agree that the utilities have a bit too long CD. I think that’s due to the nature of the natural zerging in open world events. It would be too OP if we could chain some utilities (imagine constant feedback or wall of reflecion on an enemy – which works btw: i refelcted Bloomhunger in swamp fractals with another guardian and we had 100% reflection with WoR Shield of the avenger). I agree there are some ridiculously high CDs for racial elites and then some others.
I think they are still unsure how to balance and tweak the traits though. I still think the impact is a bit too less. Ok, we can reduce the cooldowns of most type of skills by 20% but i think they could do a bit more or introduce additional skills by traits similar to WoW.
But i am annoyed by the argument ‘just hitting 1’. This simply isn’t true. If there are players doing that, it is their fault. I constantly use my full skill bar. As a guardian is usually run with Hammer/Greatsword as Main weapon and Staff/Scepter/Shield as alternate weapon. During fights i have access to 2×5 + 5 + 3 (virtues) skills which i use situationally depending on encounter. If i see that the party needs a buff or a bit of heal, i use virtue of resolve or empower. If i know the enemy can knock me down i always wait to use my stun break(s). Etc. etc.
I simply can’t imagine there are ppl hitting just 1 (aside that this is usually the auto attack anyways).
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Would you think it is fun, if you have nothing else to do anymore? Take it slowly, it is an MMO, you can play it for years. Why complain if you can make your ascended maybe 3 weeks later than just now. This is no ‘i-want-fast-and-easy-to-get-rewards-cell-phone-game’. Get used to it.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
kitten Lucker. I have three legendaries and never got any precursor. I finished one in December though, Sunrise, prices weren’t tha thigh (around 300). But congrats dude.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
I usually despise those silly wings. Looks so stupid on almost all the characters. But your succubus-themed character is perfect. I really appreciate that.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Never understood the complaints about clipping Charr models etc. My main is a Male Charr Guardian and he looks so much more kitten than the Justin-Bieber-baby-face-look-alike-stereotype-warrior-in-black-armor-and-twilight. Gosh this makes me angryyyyyyyyyy (acts-like-Trevor-from-GTA-V).
‘would of been’ —> wrong
I have such a glowy Charr. Use Celestial Dye. Though it only helps if you either use non-metallic armor. As a Guardian, I found Nightmare Armor the best. And the extreme glow only happens in certain areas mainly Orr, especially the Dwayna Temple. I also wield Sunrise which adds a faint glowy white/blueish aura.
I think it looks wesome and get many compliments about it :-) I may post some pics later since I am not at home atm.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
If you think it is too time consuming, don’t do it. I am semi-hardcore player (3 legendaries, world completoin 2 times, 6 max chars, most with exotic/ascended gear). I even had a break of 2 months. I usually play 1-3 hour during the week (I have a 100% job), or sometimes up to 10 hours if i have a day off or during weekends.
That said, I simply don’t do content if i don’t like it. I don’t like SAB, so i don’t do it. There is noone who tells you you have to do it. Just let it be. Achievement points have nothing to say, it’s just a stupid number (ok now, there are the rewards, but they aren’t really needed or unique aside from the pretty easily achievable skins).
There are a lot of other games (like GTA V atm) that i love to play, also i play a bit Dota 2 and then some.
Also i don’t get the complaints vs. altoholics. It is still pretty easy to get ascended gears. Just do some dailies/monthlies and you can get most trinkets pretty easily. True, weapons are a bit harder to get. But it is pretty easy to get around 10-20g a day, so i don’t see the issue.
Also, i don’t get why it should be ‘easy’ if you have alt characters. I mean of course it needs more work? Do you expect to get stuff as easy as in GW1? I never liked that, a bit of work should be fine and should be the nature of a game. It is still an MMO, and there are a lot of ppl like me who are bored, be cause we have run all dungeons, all places, all events dozens of times. So I like to work on my character and the feel of a more ore less flat item curve is OK.
I don’t like the way games generally go: the get-everyting-in-no-time-to-get-fast-rewards-cell-phone-game mentality more and more corrupts the core of gamers who played games since the 80ies or 90ies. If i play a game i want to feel an achievement of getting something, not an NPC who throws a super cool weapon at me. Just look at it this way.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Guardian has by far the easiest to use survivability. I don’t get why ppl think Warrior has better survivability. Anyhow, Guardian is the way to go, by far. You can easily kill 10 enemies of the same level just with some AoE attacks a few dodges. Rest is self heal and a kittenload of healing skills.
If you play a Warrior with Berserker armor you kill extremely fast but you go down fast as well, more ore less. They are still better than all the squishy classes with more defensive traits :-) I like both Professions – you’re pick.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
It’s in game. This problem occurred @golem all the time, since launch. I lose target, and even then tabing the kitten out of it i can’t re-target it for another 5 seconds cuz it is still broken.
There is another problem with right-click targeting. Meaing you target an enemy with right click just to correct the camera (which i do constantly, like most other players i assume). I turned right click interaction completely off, it is now a bit better. Though i have now a bit problems with interacting with F.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Yeah I am as well a bit disappointed. Hoped for new zones, dungeons, lore and story about the other Elder Dragons, Elona, Cantha etc etc. Nothing of this happened. Instead we get a very achievement-oriented, gem shop oriented shallow ‘content’.
Yes, we got Southsun Cove and Fractlals, but after this there was nothing permanent. The potential is here, but they keep doing this lackluster content (i don’t see new tiers of weapon etc as new content, it’s just natural progression in an MMO). It almost seems that they want to put out such easy to produce content in order to advertise new gem shop items. Maximum income with the least amount of effort.
Why produce complex new dungeons, zones, areas, towns if they still sell gems for real money?
I still hope for 2014 though. Crystal Desert, Ring of Fire, Far Shiverpeaks etc etc. I don’t even ask for Cantha and Elona (saw an interview with Colin Johanson and the usually very talkative and sympathic guy stood there like a speechless puppet when the topic was Cantha/Elona). BTW That’s another point. I really appreciate open communication with the community. They lay low towards this topic. I smell a bit of a conflict between Anet and NCsoft (though only an assumption or feeling). This is something people don’t like. It hurts their image and destroys the credibility and hope poeple had towards this game. I want to point out that i like the franchise, they should return to their strengths: creating a wonderful world with unique art design. Don’t let this game become a gem shop milking player cow with shallow jumping puzzles (yeah they can be fun for 1-2 times) and RNG skin drop boxes. It’s a disgrace.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Let’s face it, the server capacity is a joke. Imagine this would happen in other MMOs where they even have a whole world in the same instance where thousands of players are. I never logged in to WoW or Aion or any other MMO that created an overflow because the server capacity is so riduculously low. They should triple or quadruple the kitten capacity, it’s embarassing. And yes, it totally fails. The Tequatl encounter is nice, I really like it, but I have the same problems like the most have: if you aren’t waiting for hours on main server map try your luck with joining a guild member in main.
This is simply not working. Either make such content instanced or fix the obsolete overflow system.

Reminds me of Mr. Monk. Pedantic, almost neurotic (if not trolling). This is an MMO (——>MASSIVELY MULTIPLAYER <——). If you want to play alone, play a single player game. There are plenty of great single player games out there.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Don’t complain, GW2 is far more alt friendly than other MMOs. And BTW: gw1 wasn’t alt friendly either (all the title coupled skills…).
Keep in mind that you still can easily play the game with exotics. And if the time comes you get your ascended weapon.
Also, if you play a lot of alts, then it is natural that you have to work longer if you want all the BiS gear. It is still an MMO. I always complained in GW1 how easy it was to get the max stats gear. It was so boring afterwards (still a great game though).

I runs DPS Warrior and Guardian and both support as well. Be it the banners or the Guardian’s boons spamming.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
I never got kicked or asked to come with a specific profession. Don’t know all the complaints in this videos (ok then mostly I play Guardian and Warrior, but sometimes Necro, Ranger or Engineer).
But being in parties, let’s say with pugs or some guildies and pugs, we never ask for specific professions, it’s just fine if one wants to come with an engineer or ele (even preferred in AC for all the burrows).
‘would of been’ —> wrong
The scepter looks great imo with this orb in the middle which has a castle in it or something. Also depending on colour I like some greatswords. I think it’s OK.

Wow, true that. Let’s face it: Arenanet has a talent in finding talents. Art-wise this company was always beyond bliss, one of its best.

Legendary Jaddeor Icefist / Legendary Balgren Creedbreaker. These sonorous names belong to the two extremely boring, stupid and long HotW Path 2 bosses. It’s the pinnacle of HP sponge bosses in HotW. I really don’t know what the developers were thinking. Just make the HP a kittening third, really. There are no interesting mechanics, no different phases, just uber long stupid fights.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Just another tier of gear isn’t a treadmill. It is totally easy to get ascended gear… Don’t talk about GW1, this one was ridiculous gear-wise.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
No, it’s account bound.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
It’s just the skins that make some exotics expensive. Just transmute it.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Even this is far away from a gear treadmill. Usually you get laurels naturally and can buy the ascended stuff pretty easily. I really don’t get the negativity with terms like ‘illusion of more content’ and ‘gear treadmill’.
As playerbases grow it seems more and more casuals enter games who want fast progression, fast and easy to get rewards. I don’t blame them they haven’t learned how games were 10-20 years ago. It almost seems that most players just want to enter a game, have maxed out and then don’t know what to do. I must admit there is a lack of content (new dungeons, areas, campaign, races, professions etc.?) and most temporal content is a zerg hyper train hunting for achievements and drops.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
There are poeple who like to work for better gear. Exotic is extremely easy to get and doesn’t give the feel of achievement. It is very common to RPGs (not only MMOs) that the BiS gear needs work to get. Also, it is here to keep players busy until there is new content.
Besides there will be future content that may be harder. Also, not all dungeons are ‘easy’ – especially Arah and higher fractals need some coordination and aren’t usually done by pug groups. Do not compare your own experiences with the whole community. Sometimes the better stats just give the players what they need.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Same with buying icy runestones for the legendary. You can’t buy them at once, no every single time i have to confirm that i wanna buy one. Another annoying thing. Make stackable items, that don’t go into the collection stack directly to the stack in the bank slot instead of going to a free place. I mean this was already in gw1 implemented and i think in about 10000000 other games.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
I did it twice, just for the legendaries i am crafting and i found it very boring. Doing the same stuff over and over isn’t my thing. Funny that you didn’t even plan to make a legendary since you still have all the gifts. For me the ultimate goal is to get BiS gear and getting a legendary, i like item hunting.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
I’m not surprised at all. I just think it’s sad that spamming auto attacking from guardian’s staff is considered better than ele’s entire skill set.
Do not pick out a single skill for one use for an event that gets nerfed anyway. Yes, for this particular event the guardian staff 1 skill is good, but the range is bad. You forget that eles have 1200 range with their staff and a kittenload of other skills (20!!!) while the guardian has only a range of 600 on this particular skill. The guardian staff is rather a utility weapon.
It is good for zerg farming and TA (volatile blossoms) but that’s all. There are numerous other attacks like the engineer’s flame jet for example that can serve the same purpose.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
I usually do that with my guild. It’s pretty easy if you have a group who knows it. Also, very fun. I like it a lot.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
The point behind it is that it takes longer to get the proper gear = longer play time = ppl don’t get bored and abandon the game too fast.
The same techniques you can find in other MMOs. It’s quite normal. But in comparison you get your stuff in GW2 still much faster than in other MMOs.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
I usually run this with guild mates and finish it within 20 mins. Or try at least to find ppl who know the dungeon. There are a few things to know and for shortcuts. It’s really no big challenge. Still there are pug groups who work. I mean that’s it, that’s the downside of a multiplayer game. If people don’t like it, they rather should play single player games.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
8. 4 are 80, 4 are between 72 and 75, one for each profession. I don’t see why I should make more characters with same professions. Of course a different race would be maybe interesting, but leveling it till 80 is boring. Not again.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
I do not complain about the new rewards system, I think it is a good idea. As a fan of dungeons (yea I do it for fun AND rewards), I like that now my guildies actually run other dungeons than CoF.
But there is one issue: the rewards prove in a very good way that the developers clearly don’t play or test their own content. There is NO other logic behind that. For example SE2 which takes considerably longer than CoF1 yields the same reward (1g).
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Cyborg/Saitek/Mad Catz M.M.O. 7 Mouse. Perfect with the buttons to bind F1-F4. Not too many buttons like the utterly bad Razr Naga which I had and broke 3 days later. Standard keyboard.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
The rewards are messed up. I don’t see why AC should net 1.5g while SE2 or HotW 2 (god, what a boring mess this path) nets you 1g. I really don’t get why they give the same amount as CoF1.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
It sucks, I feel for you. Having myself two legendaries, I was pretty ‘lucky’ since I bought Dawn mid December (it was ‘only’ 300g) and later I made Kraitkin (Venom being 25g).
I am stuck now with The Bifrost being one of the most expensive precursors (600g).
This whole legendary stuff needs an overhaul. Like someone said: throwing stuff into the Mystic Forge isn’t really legendary. Legendary items should start a quest which challenges you for epic and kitten hard battles (like Liadri). This should never ever be an RNG-Fest. It’s boring and stupid and is very disencouraging especially with cases like this.
I also hope they will introduce a quest with lore behind it. Every legendary weapon should be really legendary, they should get some special abilities like opening a portal to your home instance or something alike. There must be a bit more incentive to create a legendary (and make stats a free choice not only PVT!!!).
‘would of been’ —> wrong
I can explain this, since it is an issue for a longer time. If you have your weapon drawn the speed increase doesn’t work. If you sheath your weapon, the speed boost is there.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
I use a combination of PVT and Cleric’s armor. I did all the content and people love to have me in their group. Here are the facts: if things go bad, there is the Guardian who can save me, I rez the hell out of my group. I support my group with constant buffs.
The argument of using only Berserker gear is childish and doesn’t compare to the reality in the game. Fact is there are people going down, be cause they run out of vigor, and can’t dodge anymore, they are out of their utility skills and have aggro from boss. There am I, the Guardian saving him/her. Often this happens with with offensive players. I don’t say this is bad, but as a Guardian it is extremely useful.
Often I read, ‘as a good player, you can easily use Berserker’. This is not true: as a very experienced Dungeon player I often am the last man standing (let’s say situations like the Wurm at the beginning of Twilight Arbor), rezzing ppl. Buffing them, giving them health and might, vigor etc. There are many, many pionts in this game, where you simply just can wait and die, be cause you are out of energy, out of your utility etc.
Also I noticed, since i have a kittenload of toughness, that I aggro bosses. Sometimes the whole battle. Other players like it, be cause they don’t have to worry and can do full damage. Don’t forget: if you have full offensive stats and no defense (aside from dodge and maybe 1-2 utilities with longer cooldowns), if you have to dodge and fight for your survival, you don’t do damage. So just to point that out: a dead berserker does zero damage, a constantly dodging, evading berserker does less damage as one who can stay in front, stand there and keep up constant damage.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
I was never a fan of this overfarming of one place. Just try to play reasonably. I usually run 1-5 dungeons daily. CoF1 maybe 1-3 times, often just once. Rest was CoE, TA, HotW and Arah (AC before the Update). Always with guildies and we have a good time together and never have any gear check or class check.
I was never a fan of earnings/time guy – this isn’t real life. Just try to play it without any expectations. Why do you need gold that fast? Why do you need to farm the same place over and over? I mean if you like the game you can just play a bit less or less effective and enjoy what you play over a longer time. Wouldn’t be that a huge ‘win’ for you?
Edit: did a lot of SE as well ofc (except SE2). That said, yes, SE2, CoF3 and CoE3 should net more. Don’t know what Anet was thinking.

It works with any setup, we had a warrior, two guardians, a ranger and mesmer i think. I was guardian. The problem is the time you need until all the sparks are in place. The pathing is extremely bad – but with some experience you can do this part pretty fast. One thing is, if Simin is still fightable that one player runs down and gets some sparks already. Also i noticed that sometimes you can fight Simin for a longer time, sometimes it’s shorter. I don’t know if this is random, but maybe it has to do with the sparks part.

There is one big difference: GW1 hat Dualprofessions which made balancing nearly impossible since there were millions if not billions of combinations. This is not possible in GW2 anymore. Aside from this, I don’t think the game is unbalanced. It’s a typical community issue. They play a certain class with certain skills and can do well, but there is one other class with a certain build and will completely destroy it. Is this unbalance? No, be cause this one may be bad against other classes/builds. So what, just enjoy the game and don’t complain in forums.

I still feel some hate in this post. I play roughtly 1h in average (ok much more earlier on but still) and I am now working on my 3rd legendary. It doesn’t take that long for the recources. If you play 2-3h/day and you don’t have enough recources, you do something wrong, or you just don’t do PvE or whatever. I don’t play the market, but if you play a bit effeciently (let’s say 2-3 dungeon runs with your guild per day and some farming) you get 10g/day which nets 300/month, meaning 3000g in 10 months. Of course you can spend this money otherwise, and maybe you did that.

Look at the description, the kraitkin ISNT supposed to move at night. It has a day/night effect like eternity.
It is true that there are no moving eels etc. I think this is intended, but the problem is that the bright glow during night doesn’t occur about 80% of the time, only after reequipping the weapon the glow appears.
