When do u expect the lvl cap be raise?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ProtoGunner.4953

ProtoGunner.4953

I hope they bring out an expansion and a level cap increase to 100, so we can slowly level through the new areas with a thrilling story and nice dungeons.

I don’t get all this hate against progression? It would be a nice way to expand the game. If you just add more zones/maps without any level increase and better gear, then there is no feel of progression. With a raise of the level cap this would be a natural way. Maybe I am too much of an oldschool 90ies RPG-player…

This is something I always complained in GW1. Leveling was too fast, there was no feel of achievement and you could get the best in slot stuff too easily. I want to work towards such stuff and work for my rewards.

I admit that the way they added most ascended gear (ONLY through crafting) is a very bad way. They should have added raids or harder dungeons and give ascended gear as rewards or made the dungeon tokens let us buy ascended gear.

I really hate the fact, that they didn’t add anything except the pretty shallow living world. I am pretty bummed as they didn’t even announce any expansion like Cantha or Elona. I am bored since about 1 year, since I have completed everything on December 2012 (including legendary weapon). With the the focus for casual players who – as it seems – like the living world and as it seem it is ‘just enough’ to keep players coming online and buying gem store stuff they won’t change this.

I really hope they don’t go the way ‘least effort, highest income’ as it seems until now…

This has been pointed out several times and no one knows why they won’t to that.

The initial idea was ‘play the way you want’. Trying different builds and playstyles with the same profession/class is something which kept me playing GW1.

With the rather annoying armor acquisition and the fact that you need several armor sets for maximum effect with different builds completely destroyed that. Even ‘grindy’ games like WoW (as ArenaNet called them) offers dual skill system and the change of armor is not needed since stats remain the same.

Levels - why do we have them?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ProtoGunner.4953

ProtoGunner.4953

I like leveling. Maybe because I play RPGs since the early 90ies.

You play a game to progress. If there is no progression at all, why play at all?

The logical consequence to have no levels is to have no gear grind and to have nothing to do at all and get all the coolest looking armor (there are no stats) just after logging in.

Just let a game be a game. Levels and levelling is a part of it. And on top of this: levelling in GW2 is very easy and fast. Try other MMOs, it’s much more tedious and slow.

I really hope they will add an expansion with a higher level cap.

I play since headstart (and betas) and I remember that the dungeons were super duper hard. Everyone had problems. I just left them aside till I hit 80 and geared up with a pretty decent group of players through dungeon tokens. It was a fun time.

Now dungeons are trivial and boring. I have my dungeon master title since more than a year… And there are no additional dungeons added after nearly 1.5 year, WTF. Pretty bad for an MMO. At the moment I don’t play, since I am sick of this shallow Living Story crap.

2000 hours, 0 precursors, why keep playing??

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

ProtoGunner.4953

Understand that Legendaries are vanity items, you don’t need it. So it should be hard to get.

But, the way we get it is very unepic and uninspiring. RNG is very bad way providing one of the most central parts of a Legendary.

One example: I played for around 2000h and had no single precursor drop while a guildy with a bit less amount of play time had 6(!) drops(!). I know this is old story, we all know that RNG is RNG. But this can’t simply be the way. It IS unfair.

I managed to craft myself 3 Legendaries through farming gold, and sometimes I helped myself buying gems… (and now, we know why it is the crafted the way it is…)

They never should have introduced the way it is now. It should be a hard to beat content to get a precursor and a long road.

You simply notice that this part of the game is rushed and poorly implemented. Also, why the hell can we buy/sell Legendaries? This is extremely underwhelming, having a Legendary means nothing in this game. Not even that you farmed your kitten off. You can simply buy everything in this game. Even ascended ingredients for faster ascended gear.

Someone in one post told that the game suffers be cause of the gem store. And it is true. We have less inspiring and interesting content be cause the house NCSoft is in need of money. It is only symptomatic and a logical continuation of the game industry.

Micro transactions and in game stores destroyed a lot. Happy that Dark Souls II is coming soon while I finish the new Zelda for my 3DS…

Also the server capacity limitation sucks be cause not everyone is doing the boss.

I stopped playing and bought subscription time for WoW. At least they add content every couple of months which is not temporary and I get my gear easier through DROPS instead of this mindless farming-driven crafting crap.

I hope GW2 will add a new campaign or addon with a new continent like all other MMOs do. I can’t stand this. Since the pre-launch I play the same kitten 8 dungeons over and over and with the exception of Fractals they didn’t add anything new. I don’t count the temporary mindless zerg stuff on the same old maps over and over as ‘content’. Those are some events most other MMOs have too. And while it’s fun for a while, it gets utterly boring after a couple of months.

If they won’t proceed with the lore they made (FFS Dragons, Destiny’s Edge, Undead leaderless without Zhaitan etc etc.) and won’t add new professions, crafting, races zones, campaigns, areas, maps etc. I won’t touch this game anymore. I am now at the point of utter disappointment and couldn’t imagine in my worst nightmares how bad this game has ‘evolved’. Just compare this to GW1 after soonish 18 months: 3 CAMPAINGS!!!!!!!! with almost 3 the amount of EXPLORABLE ZONES since the start of GW1 compared to ONE SINGLE ZONE FFS!!!!!!!

Gw2 says they have 460k Concurrent players

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ProtoGunner.4953

ProtoGunner.4953

460k? That’s about the same number of players that City of Heroes had when it got shut down. Go figure.

You confuse two very different things. 460k were active accounts, while GW2 has some 4.5 million active accounts. Of course you don’t have to pay, so there are no frozen accounts.

But still, if I understand that correctly City of Heroes (I don’t know the game) had just 460’000 active players at the point of shutting down servers. While Guild Wars had 460k at one point during the first year simulatnously online. This means 12 hours later some other hundred thousand players were online and so on.

I still think this number is very deceptive as we can be sure the actual numbers are lower. They should’ve given us an average number to represent the state of the activity of players.

I very dislike the policies of NCSoft. They are extremely secretive and lack transparency towards the public and instead throw out deceptive information. The same happened to Guild Wars 1. Which counted every single campaign as ‘sold game’. I for example bought 3 (+1 addon) which counts then as three sold games. Since many GW1 players bought every single campaign (minus the addon GWEN) you can the ‘7 millions sold games’ divide by 3.

Why crafting is so unpopular.

in Crafting

Posted by: ProtoGunner.4953

ProtoGunner.4953

They should add special items. In WoW crafting is tedious too, but at least the crafted materials have some worth and I can sell it. Also, it adds unique stuff I can use. For example as an Engineer I can create a hang gliding device and only those people can craft that.

In GW2 there is simply no profit, you gain nothing, as even ascended crafting is only for yourself. The ascended crafting is made this way to diminish the massive supply of t3,4,5 mats. It’s a very cheap way to do that and only leads to the annoyance of the playerbase.

GW2 Combat vs other MMORPG's

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ProtoGunner.4953

ProtoGunner.4953

Combat is not bad. But sometimes I just don’t want to hop and dodge around, simply hang around and use my rotation. But you can’t do that for certain content (i.e. dungeons). The constant ‘oh I need to dodge, but I simply can’t see the boss be cause he isn’t visible so just let’s try to dodge from time to time and hope I have luck’-mentality in this game pretty annoys me.

Also, I miss more complex rotations like in WoW where you have certain dots which synergizes with other skills and result in massive damage (giant enemy crab). I noticed especially in raids that I need a lot of concentration to keep up with DPS and still do all the moves which is needed to survive the boss.
In GW2 this is massively toned down. Actually, I did all the content in game (no payment for dungeon runs). But I never used other player’s fields to actively use some finishers. It’s always just a spam fest of skills. Though I don’t just use auto attack, I wait for cooldowns and also use reflects wisely.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Most of my friends who used to play other games like WoW, Diablo etc. bought GW2 and stopped playing after 1 to 7 days. They just didn’t like it. Don’t know why. I initially had really fun with this game.

The second point is players who stopped after 2-6 months. Those stopped playing be cause there is no additional content. It becomes stale and we have nothing to work for. The biggest design fault is adding ascended gear WITHOUT the optoin to get them as rewards for harder dungeons. Other games add dungeons/raids with better loot, while we stand in LA and craft our BiS gear. What the kitten is that kitten?

Adding stuff to an existing stack from the character should not create a new stack in bank tab. This is somewhat annoying and was never an issue in GW1.

Additional sidebars for food, minis, tonics etc. This really would improve playability, since I don’t need to open the inventory at all. It’s standard in almost every MMO. Why not here?

Make a wardrobe, especially for Skin only items like you did it for the Zenith weapons.

Partying in dungeons: don’t let us kick the rest of the party, if the ‘leader’ leaves. I mean WTF? Let us give leader to another player and if he leaves, the next player should receive it. WoW does this since kittening 2004…

Let us freely set the skills we have. Generally, give us more UI freedom…

Legendaries: make precursors only available by special and really hard quests/content. Make them account bound and then make the legendaries account bound only. This keeps the legendary legendary and not a tradable crap it is now. It isn’t legendary at all, if it is tradable. Most players will agree. I assume this is done to make $$ be cause there are always players that are willing to pay real money to get a legendary for 600-1000 bucks…

IMO it’s still pretty ridiculous for such a huge AAA MMO not having new challenging content with more tactical bosses/for bigger parties (at least 10 ppl). We only have Lupi and a handful of other ‘raid like’ bosses.

Comapred to other MMOs that have around 10-20 and up to 100 (WoW) such bosses GW2 seems totally out of competition and has to be addressed.
