Nero? Is this a new roman empire class who burns everything? ^^
No tbh, yes I agree with you. Conditions in PvE is kitten.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
The problem in this thread is that it is NOT defined which content you mean. Open world PvE is so easy, you will not have any problems. Compare this to high level fractals or Arah and it looks different.
I have a nearly maxed out geared Berserker Warrior and a bit less good geared Berserker Ele and while the Warrior’s damage is very good the Ele’s one is even better, sometimes totally sick. Also you have a lot of access to defensive skills since you have 20 weapons skills at your disposal it needs more player skill and active thinking. My Warrior is very facerolling and super easy to play. As an Ele you have to be constantly on your toes.

It’s a pretty well balanced profession. Only the spirit weapons could use a boost, but then that’s with all pets and pet like summons: they go down in seconds if they don’t fix overlapping AoE damage. Other games fix that with immunity to AoE or drastical reduction of AoE.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
The difference was that those ‘paid MMOs with updates every three months’ at least had content, I mean dungeons, new maps, quests or new factions etc.

Imagine you have heal turret, 3 utility turrets and the supply crate. You can chain a bubble of reflect for 20 seconds, that’s pretty neat if stationary fights are used.

I observerd GW2 since the announcement in 2007 (I think) and read every bit about it, I played the beta and finally the release. It was easily my most expected game in my now 25-year old gaming history.
After release I was pretty excited. And now I am extremely disappointed. If I knew what they would do with this game (Gem store driven, casual zergfest content with shallow story, no expansion until now, bad balancing, lackluster PvP, a kittenload of bugs – sometimes embarassing and in the game since betas) I wouldn’t believe it.
Now we are here and I play form time to time and hope that there is the moment when they announce CONTENT, I mean CONTENT like UW or FoW or Urgoz’s Warren, DoA, Factions, Elona for kittens sake! What do they think? After soon 2 years they added exactly one zone and one special-dungeon.
What I did expect they would’ve released after 2 years: a campaign, a couple of additional maps, 2-3 dungeons and or elite dungeons for hard core players, raids, exploration of other parts of Tyria including Cantha or Elona, introduction of new races, places, towns etc etc. As usually expected form MMOs. But no, my most beloved GW2 didn’t do anything… I am so utterly disappointend you can’t imagine. And I am at the point where I am not sure whether I want to continue this game if they keep up this kind of crappy ‘content’.

Wow, nice, I haven’t run Arah for months now since I am bored, but what about after the first boss with with portal? Isn’t that not supposed to be done to do a proper run? We usually ran all the way to boss two by skipping which takes considerably longer.

I think the more interesting question is why he gives Ascalonian Tears from his bag of wondrous goods drop.
Because they probably just copy-pasted the AC troll and changed his model/colour.
Copy pasting things left and right sounds just about the amount of work they are willing to do to their dungeons.
Lol, so funny :-) And sadly it’s also true…

I don’t understand if the game lacks content instead of doing such boring stuff why you just don’t play other games?
‘would of been’ —> wrong
The term ‘unique’ indicates that it can only equipped one of this item. It’s common MMO-term. But yeah, I agree, they should point that out with an additional phrase.
Just be more cautious with high investments and always read first about it.
There are numerous posts for this. I know the search function doesn’t work (sigh) but at least check the first two pages.

Lol, I love it when people say things like “I work for one day and that gives me X gold”. It’s almost like nobody has anything else to spend money on. I work for one day and I don’t see any of that cash because it goes towards paying bills or the mortgage or food etc. Yes, yes, one day here or there is the equivalent of a fortune in game … not really. 1000g will buy you either a lot of stuff or not even half a legendary. It’s a little off.
True, but if I deduct all invoices etc. there’s still more than a half of it left.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
If I consider my income it is extremely cheap for me. I already spent about 2000-3000 euros on this game. Way too much, I never though I would do that. But if I see a very nice skin I have to have it. Instead of RNG boxes etc. I just buy the skin via the trading post and turn gems to gold. I don’t have a lot of time and at the moment I play Dark Souls 2, so there is almost no time to farm etc.
It’ a simple equation: I work for one day, I can turn this money into more than 1000G at the current exchange rate.
In game I make around 2-3 gold per hour, so after 8-9 hours of in game ‘work’ I would have about 20+ gold which is nothing. I maybe play 1-5h per week (used to be a lot more at the beginning).
I think Gem store skins should be account bound though. Every company does that, it’s a pretty rip off.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
They really should add more immersion, the da/night cycle is by far too fast and there is no sunrise and sunset, also the day/night is different in every region. The fact we have zones kills a lot of immersion anyway, you can mitigate this immerion killer at least with better day/night cycle and weather effects. Games like WoW did that 10 years ago…
‘would of been’ —> wrong
The weapons look really nice. They will be pretty rare as they are rewarded via tournament tickets, only 1st to 5th will be able to buy one of those awesome skins:
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/get-ready-for-wvw-spring-tournament-2014/
I can live with that.
What I don’t like is that these new and cool hair styles are locked behind – AGAIN – Gem store. Why can’t we use those hair styles upon creation or like in WoW going to a hair dresser and change our hair style for in game gold?
‘would of been’ —> wrong
1. New campaign (includes race, class, regions, maps, story)
2. Permanent content
3. Right now a lot of content is built around the gem store. Just look up the ‘news’ in GW2 right at this moment: 4 of the 8 ‘news’ is about stuff in gem store. This is embarassing! A lot of quality of life and other content is locked behind gem store (like permanten harvesting tools, skins etc.). Instead of introducing FINALLY a new fun dungeon as all of us expected with new skins etc. 90% of the introduced stuff is just in the gem store. It is even worse: most of those skins are locked behind a money-making RNG mechanic. I understand that they have to make some additional money, but this is just out of control and should be reviewed.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Of course they should make skins account bound and make it available in a wardrobe for everyone. Even WoW and other games do that. They should just add it to the place where we can take our Zenith weapon skins.

The game is very casual friendly. Kicking be cause of low AP is ridiculous I admit, but if players are bad – or let’s say – aren’t willing to get better they deserve to be treated as that. It is like in real life. I can’t just be lazy and expect to deserve the same income as one who works harder.
I really wouldn’t use that example… because there are people on welfare / unemployment / workers comp / etc that make more than some people trying to scrape by working 2 jobs. So yeah, there are plenty of lazy people that con the system and make more than actual hard working people. Its not right, its not ‘fair’, but that’s how it is.
True, let’s see my example just in a paradigm world.

Build diversity in GW1 was awesome and it was super easy to just try it out and get another armor set to make it more efferctive. This build diversity alone kept me playing for a very long time, doing solo runs or solo boss kills. It was super awesome. But let’s be honest: there were a kittenload of skills in GW1 no one ever used.

And after a whole 1.5 years we didn’t even get an announcement of an expansion or something in the direction of an expansion.
they’ve start working at it when gw2 was released. separate team work. they mentioned it 1 year ago or something. you can check last interview with devs (2-5 monthes old).
Yes, they told, that a separate team (not connected to LS) works on ‘bigger’ content. But they haven’t explained exactly what this means. I learned to lower my expectations though I hope it will be a content ‘worth an expansion’.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
While the whole implementation of Black Lion Key and Claim Tickets is a bit unfortunate I don’t have problems with the introduction of Tormented skins via this way. It was a skin from the last game and nothing more. It is not connected to the actual events in GW2, so it’s fine.
But it is now time for an update. An update in the form of an expansion: This contains a new playable race or a new profession (class), new crafting disciplines, new areas, zones or a continent, new dungeons, a whole new campaign, new armors and armor skins, new weapons and weapon skins.
This game suffers real content. And after a whole 1.5 years we didn’t even get an announcement of an expansion or something in the direction of an expansion.

There are games with very well animated capes. For example Batman: Arkham Asylum and the two sequels. Of course it’s a single player game but it is possible.
I think many things in GW2 are awkwardly programmed. Like the problems with moving platforms (—> Airship in Arah Story) and the horrible instance owning system (kicking an instance owner, so the rest gets kicked too, WTF? Complete no-goes).
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Unfortunately, the OP is right. Right now it is a huge pain to change the build, be cause we need another full armor set. Not even ‘grindier and traditional’ MMOs do have this. At least the stats for a certain class remained the same and you didn’t have to farm, grind, craft etc. for another armor sets.

how can i get gear when i am a non-ascended geared necromancer, they rather spit on me then accept a necro in the first place let alone one that isn’t maxed geared.
and no, i don’t have any other maxed character, it’s really not my fault here.
Usually you should be fine with Exotic gear, ascended armor only gives 5% more stats.
I know that Necros can have a hard time. My only advice: find a nice guild. I usually play Warrior and Guardian, but from time to time I reroll a Necro in ‘only’ exotic gear and usually never have complaints.

Dungeon runners already have plenty of cool armours to choose from. Leave something for the casual players.
Also, you talk about prestige. Prestige isn’t something that just comes from looks, it’s determined by how people perceive something. Everybody knows that Zodiac armour is bought with gems, and there’s little prestige in that. So it’s not a very prestigious set anyway, it just looks fancy.
I hate it when people want everything that looks nice to be only available to people who run dungeons or play WvW or whatever. If it was for them, all the casual players would just walk around in standard beginner’s armour with plain weapons and nothing fancy at all.
Stop being so elitist about it. Just because you have the time to do dungeons or WvW doesn’t make you any better than people who just play PvE.
Don’t take an aggressive defense position, I don’t want to offend you. I also mentioned that ‘prestige-ish’ looking armor should only be available via hard content. You have the position of ‘I am too lazy to do a dungeon but I still want the best and coolest stuff’. This is a new stance towards gaming and a result of easy achievment mobile game industry. Perhaps I am old fashioned (I play games since the late 80ies), but where I came from you had to work towards the most fancy items.
You also didn’t mention why you don’t do dungeons. I already told you that running a dungeon doesn’t take a lot of time with the exception of Arah maybe (though there is a one short path). You can do most dungeons within 15-20 minutes, or 30-40 minutes for a sub-par run.
Just consider this: instead of labelling me an elitist and complaining, go out there, run a dungeon, EARN your armor after a couple of weeks and feel the achievement!
I’ll be earning my dungeon armour, I never said I wouldn’t. I’m just saying that people who say all the fancy armour should only for people who play the game a lot are just being unfair to people who have to combine a job, studies and a family life and can only play for a few hours a week.
Allow other players to have a few fancy things too even if they don’t play often. You can still clearly see they didn’t clear a dungeon for it, it’s not like all dungeon armour can suddenly be acquired through the TP or anything.
Agreed. But at least they should introduce new armor skins for dungeoneers/PvEers as well. About every new skin comes with the gem store while there are almost none via PvE-reward.

The game is fine. Aside from some QoL stuff and the kittenload of bugs. I can live with that.
BUT. I can’t live with no single meaningful content update. Put Fractals and Southsun aside. There was no addition of a single area, zone, campaign, new playable race etc etc. Content the community is asking for.
It’s OK to wait two years for such a hunge addon or expansion. But we didn’t get even a single update on it. I really don’t understand the secretive behaviour of anet. Why don’t they openly communicate what they want to implement. Every MMO company I know does that and they will bring this content as well.
My only guess is: they simply don’t have the capacity. Why else can you explain that there are sometimes simple bugs they are in the game since betas and haven’t been fixed.

But one thing that comes to mind: such an epic look should be reserved for Dungeon rewards as Ascended armor skins. It has much more prestige.
Why should all the good stuff be only available for people who grind dungeons? Let the people who just play PvE or don’t have time to play a dungeon twenty times have something nice for a change
finally someone gets it, i like allot of dungeon armors but i can’t get it because of various reasons, adding even more lowers the attraction even more. (i want the Crucible light and Honor of the Waves leggings light, not able to get it ether)
Why exactly aren’t you able to get it? You don’t need hours to do a run. You can a run maybe 1-2 a week. Usually one run takes 15-20 minutes. 30-40 if you have a bad group.
I feel the sense of casual player who just wants to get rewards in no time. Sorry, but in such a game you should work for prestige. You get same good gear easier by doing other stuff which is good imo.

I never ask for pinging gear, never check AP and still most runs run pretty smooth. On the other hand, most of the runs are at least 1-3 guilies.

I once saw an intervie wit Colin Johanson and he was asked to have dungeons with more than 5 people. He then vehemently denied that and they stick to only 5-man parties.
I don’t get that, why won’t they do that? It would give us the opportunity to finally have bigger organized groups to do content as hard as Tequatl, Wurm or even harder.

I think it will be LA again. We regain control after the completion of the next LS update. If not, they may introduce something new. But since they are so eager NOT to introduce new maps/areas it is unlikely.

Firt: I love this kind of armor. It’s awesome. I bought one for my female Norn Warrior.
But one thing that comes to mind: such an epic look should be reserved for Dungeon rewards as Ascended armor skins. It has much more prestige.
Instead you missed the chance: you introduced ascended armor with horrible skins no one uses, most transmute it anyways. I don’t want to imply this but I almost have the feel you keep the ‘cool’ skins for the Gem store, so people will pay real money to get it.
Please realize this: if you keep this strategy up the game starts to suffer, it loses quality and at a certain point the community starts to lose interest. Please do not build this game around this devilish gem store. I know you must keep up income but there are other ways, please introduce new item skins – I mean not only one back item for every meta achievement reward – for players who want to get rewarded for their hard work in game. An item simply has less prestige if it is just purchasable at a store for money.
Short Offtopic:
Also a very bad way: introduction of a new tier of gear without giving us new and/or harder content. It’s not bad we can make them via crafting, but it’s practically the only way to get them. I don’t count the drops, since most people haven’t seen any of those. I have no problems with new tier gear, but give us a way to earn it: via a new dungeon instance and/or tokens, more tokens etc.

It’s a pretty ridiculous issue that never should have found the way into this game. I do not understand this and don’t get what they were thinking about this. Make it like in WoW: there is a leader, but if he leaves another player will automatically get the leading role and only he has the option for kicking proposal. This works best.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Do you mean dungeon tokens? You get them by completing the explorable modes.

Usually when I play with PUGs found via dungeon finder, people have 6-12k AP, but that doesn’t matter. I really never have seen a group looking specifically for ‘only 5k+ AP’, it’s stupid. Is this a US-server thing? Be cause in Europe, I almost never see this…
I must admit though that IF I have a 0-1k AP guy in my party I get a tiny bit nervous, be cause this indicates a very new player. Though I am up to help him, no problem here.

The new meta is stacking in dungeons. So you don’t need ranged weapons. You just stack, use all the melee awesomeneness and get all the buffs/fields/boons from an all melee party stacking in a corner and killing bosses within seconds.

Same here. I have Sunrise and Kraitkin on my Charr Guardian and the glow from Sunrise is barely visible. Also, I noticed something strange: underwater the bubblish glow from Kraitkin sometimes vanishes, also it is not visible when stowed. But I had a guildie – also a Charr – next to me who had stowed it but I could see the bubble glow.
Also, I noticed some Legendary wielders that glow extremely strong. What is that? Is this a glitch only I can see or are those people actively glitching so anyone can see that?

Couldn’t agree more. Why did they create it if no one is using them? Also, they should fix the suit for asura. There are some usefull racial (elite) skills that people use. Mainly reduce the ridiculous long cooldowns on some racial elites. It’s laughable and should be addressed.

You shouldn’t play on notebooks since they have a weak graphic card (the M noting the ‘mobile’ version). I have a tower with GTX670 @ 1920×1200 and 16 GB of RAM with full details and never problems during such events (usually 25-60 fps constantly).

No. If you run dungeons often you wanna do it fast. Also, killing them by stacking is legit. It even has been done often in GW1.
