Same, I think just make a break of a couple of months and come back.

I really hope they will introduce a new continent, new zones, playable races or profession and higher level cap, new story with an elder dragon etc. Otherwise this game just becomes a casual fest every 2 weeks which i don’t appreciate.

The clumsiness is always an illusion with big characters, since all have the same speed etc. If you are big, you have to move ‘slower’ so the speed result mach the small races. Of course it is an illusion, everything else woul be catastrophic. It’s the same if you for example compare a Tauren with a Gnome in WoW.

I myself main a Charr Guardian, just be cause I think Charrs are awesome, they are like beasts and don’t look like a 19 year old baby-face. Also the weapons are a lot bigger.

Easiest/hardest professions to level?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ProtoGunner.4953

ProtoGunner.4953

Rigth now I level an Elementalist and i think it is the ‘hardest’, but I am quite undegeared, still they seem very squishy and imo the concept of most weapons are ground targeted, which means either you stay on place while they hit you, or you kite, but then the ground targeted skills won’t hit them. Only if I have the Greater Earth Elemental up, it’s super easy, since it’s a great Tank. None are really hard, but while I leveled Mesmer the first, then Guardian, Necro and Ranger to max, they were all relatively easy. Also Warrior, although the healing isn’t the best. I also maxed the Engineer. Thief is easy only because of Shadow Refuge – are you in trouble? Use it and run away or regain some health etc :-)

These stories are not fantasy at all

in Bazaar of the Four Winds

Posted by: ProtoGunner.4953

ProtoGunner.4953

Sorry, but every experienced RPG player knows that the small things what it is all about. Fantasy is becoming redundant and I like the approach of GW2 where there is more technology, a bit steam/clockwork punk etc. It reminds me of the really old good JRPGs back in the 90ies.

I have some complaints about this game (for me too small content, everything done, nothing to do after getting geared up, done all dungeons, world completion etc., legendaries). BUT one of the BIG, BIG, BIG strengths of Anet is the great talent in art design and creating worlds. In my opinion they are in this industry sector one of the best teams out there, and I play a lot of games…

Kicked before dungeon started?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: ProtoGunner.4953

ProtoGunner.4953

I can’t see a huge advantage to run this dungeon as fast as possible. The 1-2 minutes you make out of it is not worth the effort all the kicking, discussing, pinging etc. I think people just enjoy to do it as fast as possible, but at the end isnt’ really important over the course of time, since you won’t do more runs if you are faster. Rather you do a certain pattern – let’s say running 1,1,2 or whatever. If they are now 5-10 mins faster they end up fooling around in LA for 5-10 mins longer.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

It’s called nostalgia. There were numerous things that wasn’t right wit GW1 either. Just remember that Prophecies had only 60 skills, no templates (you had to change builds manually EVERY kittenING SINGLE TIME), no dungeons, no heroes, only 6 professions, no crafting, no gathering, everything instanced, clunky cut scenes (they didn’t even had facial animations, no moving mouths etc.) no hard mode etc etc.

I can’t stress that enough: Do not compare a 8 year old game, that grew over the years with a 10 month old game. There will many, many things be added and changed over the years.

Also, what’s all the fuzz about SB range 900? It’s still a quite far distance. Since I roam in full berserker/damage build, I use the more power-based LB.

Btw I tested the Ranger yesterday a bit and the pets are still super powerful. So just calm down, it was needed.

The irony in the criticism against RNG...

RNG is a common mechanic in games. If you get it, you are lucky and it keeps the exclusivity, if everyone runs around with a Legendary it isn’t exclusive anymore. What happened with phase 2 of dungeons?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: ProtoGunner.4953

ProtoGunner.4953

What I noticed with AC is where you have to keep Hodgins alive while the 6 burrows spawns. I did that very often as Guardian. I guard Hodgins, meaning I kite the enemies. Last week I went in with a half-pug-half-guild-group and we failed miserably. I never had problems with this part, maybe failing 1-2 times. But I wasn’t able to kite them properly.

At the point where the last 2-3 burrows grow there were always some other enemies coming from another side killing Hodgins immediately. Maybe it was just a ‘bad’ group though. I have to try with a coordinated and proper guild party.

Anyway, did they change that lately? I mean even after the ‘more fun and engaging’-redesign?

ProtoGunner.4953

Flames of hell is only a modern idea of death. Fire in mythology is the element of life, destruction and purity. This was also translated rather well into the first game, but Arena net have seem to forgot that. Water on the other hand is the element of death. Fire is the polar opposite of what the necromancer stands for.

Don’t take it that serious. It’s fantasy. In fantasy everything is possible. If in GW1 they told you that they have access to fire magic and ‘explained’ it lorewise, you wouldn’t have a problem.

There is no class or gear elitism and I actually never experienced this in this game. Maybe be cause I am on a European international server or I am just lucky with my guild :-)

1st: I have a 100% job, but I took my time and set it top priority to get a legendary, so I logged in after coming home from work and farmed my kitten off. This was already done before Christmas.

We all have different playstyles and feelings how a game has to be. For me roleplaying games is about progression, this means not only level progression, but also gear progression. I started pretty early with japanese RPGs (Lunar series in the early 90ies on Sega Mega CD) so I may have a different opinion about games as a whole. I know that MMOs have the bad habit that there is no end (see WoW), since all the bis gear is crap after a new content patch. There is no solution for both playstyles.

If you want to play games to be challenged then I recommend ‘Dark Souls’ for you. It’s an a blast of a game.

It wasn’t implemented in either GW1 or WoW at the beginning. Don’t forget this and don’t compare 7-9 year old games that developed over the years with a 10 months old game.

Yes, we need dual-skilling. And either armor stats that are more universal (would hurt the game, since different armor stats really changes your playstyle in this game) or then let us change full sets with a few clicks. If so, it would be nice to have a special storage for armor sets (as it was later introduced in GW1), since this is the nature of the game, this would be very appreciated. These are things, I would implement with highest priority. I am pretty sure we will see this in the future.

Yes, I like to work for it. Since you are maxed out with gear so fast, it’s boring, be cause there is nothing to do (yes I have world completion 100%, two Legendaries, Dungeon Master, 4 Professions with max. Level rest between 60-78). There is simply nothing to do. I kinda like cosmetic stuff, but I rather work for something better with better stats (yes, I also like WoW). Someting, I always complained in GW1.

There was one quote on the 1st page, that really annoys me. Represents the casual, I-want-it-all-but-don’t-like-to-work-for-it-attitude:
Not really. I just want new armor skins. I don’t feel like treadmilling I just wanna collect.

Why do you play games then anyway? Don’t you want a feel of achievement?

We ran fractals (me only until 28, but others in our guild 30-80, and we never had a problem with Rangers or other supposedly weak professions. Also did the ‘hardest’ dungeons (e.g. Arah P4 pre-patch) with a Ranger, and she now has the Dungeon Master title.

Things that kitten you off in this game?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ProtoGunner.4953

ProtoGunner.4953

Two main complaints in this game result in a contradiction that is not possible to solve for an MMO:
1. Group says: I don’t want to work too hard to get the best gear. I don’t want to grind.
2. Group says: There is nothing to do after you hit level 80 and got all the best gear.

These groups are not mutually exclusive.

I must admit, I like farming and work hard for better or better looking gear. I have two legendaries and full ascended trinket sets for two characters (Guardian and Necromancer) but I don’t play at the moment, simply be cause I have seen all the content: I have the dungeon master title and explored the world 100% nearly twice. I also invested some hundreds € into the game, not be cause I can afford it, also be cause I like this company and I play GW since early 2006.

These small additions like Karka event and Flame & Frost are just too shallow and simple. You rush through in no time. I really liked the dungeon there though.

I rather wish we get a new expansion like in GW1 right the game hits its first anniversary. I want to see the Tengu City, the Tengu as a playable race, vast new areas like Cantha or the Crystal Desert, more of the Maguuma Jungle, new campaign with a new antagonist (we still have Bubbles, Primordus, Kralkatorrik and Jormag), professions etc.

So I was very bummed when our beloved Mr. Johanson told us they don’t plan an expansion in the near future. If these really small and more or less shallow content additions keep going on, I can’t see to play this game constantly. I may from time to time log in and see what’s going on. I stopped playing now for a bout 2 months and I logged in for a couple of hours 2 days ago. But still there is nothing to do for me. But maybe this is the conceptual idea behind this game. Just let’s hope we will see more content later this year, though I’m afraid we can’t expect any major expansion until end of 2014.

Charged Lodestones... how / where?

in Crafting

Posted by: ProtoGunner.4953

ProtoGunner.4953

He’s a bit like Lupi….

Stopped reading right there. You clearly don’t even know the exact physics of either.
Lupi’s “red circles” are wrong half the time and then ppl get 2-shotted by the wildly misdirected projectiles…some of which “home in” regardless. Alpha’s indicators have the same “mis-queue” problem. In order to avoid the biggest Spams, you have to stand INSIDE the pattern of red circles, not waste endurance trying to get completely out of it. That makes it a broken Visual. And certain builds can just gimmick their way around the entire issues while everyone else who does what the encounter instructs of them…. just gets worn out or dead too quickly.

If you are the 1% of the dungeon runners that believe coe is not an easy dungeon then maybe you should reconsider stepping outside of the comfort zone of cof

I don’t run COF. Infact it’s the last dungoen on my list with only 1 path completed so far. Every other dungeon in the game I’m 3/4’s on or 4/4’s on. No idea why you attacked a strawman here when the bulk of your post actually supported the evidence of “Gimmickery” and needlessly drawn our & recycled mechanics

Bad players are bad :-) Subject Alpha is very easy. Depending on the path, path 1: crowd around him, the whole party, ppl will automatically get out of the crystals and heal up due to AoE heals etc. path 2: his AoE is the most devastating attack, rest is peanuts. To dodge the AoE count down from 2 to zero, then dodge. You can than even with the squishiest toon kill him, be cause he will never hit you with this attack. Occasionally, ppl will get stuck in a crystal, but this shouldn’t be a problem: they are destroyed within seconds. Lags is the biggest issue there and getting down happens, but you should get back on your feet fast (2 or 3 players rezzing you from down state). Very rarely (happened to me only once as necro), the double tap for dodge didn’t trigger and I got down, then after a second the next aoe hit me, that was very bad luck. But it almost never happens.

Titles - Why so few?

Please stop comparing the then 7 year old Guild Wars 1 with the now Guild Wars 2. Guild Wars 1 had almost no titles after 10 months. It had 60 skills accross all professions, it had no dailies, it had no dungeons (aside from FoW and UW which can be now considered as kind of a dungeon, but no rewards, no endchest, no real boss battle etc.)

Guild Wars 2 is a very young title that came out maybe 5-6 months too early. It will grow, it will change a lot, there will be new level caps, new campaigns (remember: 5 elder dragons, only one slain till now). Just calm down, play something else like I do now (for example the awesome ‘Last of Us’ on PS3). And come back and enjoy the game then.

Ok, I had alot of Dungeon expereince before. But I found it super easy. As Guardian I could even melee the Bosses at the end only dodginge the fire wave/drop attack. If you fail, either the players were very unexperienced or low level.

The idea is good. But I rather have a new continent to explore, really. I want Cantha and Elona. Loved them in GW1. Or at least open one of the zones like Crystal Desert or Ring of Fire.

Warrior Banners have a CONSTANT UBER-BUFF, are indestructable, untraited mobile, can be wielded by everyone, and have a super long up time. So why the kitten they don’t just make totally broken spirits not kittening better? I really don’t get it. Just make them invulnerable!

On my server, it is almost always uncontested and gets uncontested even in the morning time. Change your server (i am on EU Gandara).
