I did a lot of Arah runs, especially path 3 since I farmed a full set of armor and also the Gift of Zhaitan. From my experience (that was about 6-10 moths ago, haven’t done it often recently), it takes about 30-50mins, depending the experience the player have. Lupicus alon took about 10 minutes. But we always did it the old ranged way back then.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
This was the initial plan. But now they contradict theirself: The ‘play your way or how you want’ slogan doesn’t work. Even WoW is more altfriendly and diverse than GW2 now.
Just this: if you play a certain build it requires certain stats to be effective. If you just want to play differently you have to kittenING CRAFT ANOTHER kittenING SET OF ASCENDED AND FARM THE kittenING TRINKETS OVER AND OVER AGAIN. I mean this is just for one kittening Profession. Just imagine you have 8 Professions (Like me). What the hell? I mean REALLY, are you kittening serious? Do you really want to go back to medieval times of RPGs?
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Lorewise Zhaitan blocked the way to Cantha. After killing Zhaitan the way is open. I think the initial plan was to then introduce Cantha. But since NCSoft doesn’t allow it, they had to find other ways. That’s why we get now these shallow Living Stories.

If you play the naïve guy and aks like this, then just start to ask, why you don’t have any wounds and heal right after a fight. It’s made to make it easier. A totally realistic game would start and if you die, you are dead forever.
Really…
‘would of been’ —> wrong
You want one? It’s really not that hard, even the WvW-Part (I’m on Drakkar-Lake, an underperforming european server). Every day a little bit … no great effort.
I’d recommend a prevention of addiction, this is just nuts.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Yeah, expect to be added nothing in this game anymore. They won’t even raise the max party number over 5. What a boring crap.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Using this build now. I love it, though pretty risky with not-so-good-pugs with no DPS since I have problems if fights are taking too long.
With an organized guild group or good players the runs are like a breeze. Also you help the party with the usual buff-fest the Guardian provides.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Don’t get me wrong, I like the idea of the tome. They look cool and the spells are powerful, but I hardly can pull off wrath #5. Either I have to move, or the enemies go down by the massive damage other players are doing. Also, I can pull off some other attacks/spells while I cast this spell. It is mitigated a bit by the #4 which gives quickness, but still…
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Either dodge, you get the timing with some experience. Or just use a stun break if you are on the floor. Very easy.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Yeah this QQing is ridiculous. Why to play to fractals 50+ anyways. They changed now a lot of it, so just enjoy the update. In 2-3 weeks no one will complain.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
This living world is almost the same as the smaller updates in other MMOs. I honeslty can’t see a big difference than maybe they occur every two weeks instead of maybe every month. That’s why we need an expansion or an expansion coming with one or more updates – same content.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Most ppl just are whiny kitten be cause they can’t stand critique even though the critique is legitimate. Also, why are all so kittening dead serious? Just take it easy, learn to laugh at yourselves, for god’s sake…
What I learned in life is that a lot of people don’t want to face the thruth and can’t or don’t want (under)stand if they have a worse solution. I can tell you that from work. Instead I learned to understand it and tried to benefit from it. Unfortunatley we live in a morally biased society that favors a fake non-critique-we-are-nice-in-front-but-talk-then-bad-behind-their-backs behavior.
I am happy we have some great players who show the most effective ways to play good.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
No, decrease the cooldown of all 5 skills, i mean the kitten it is an elite skill! The duration should be 30 seconds by default and the cooldown of the elite itself should be about 120s.
I really don’t know but buff the kitten all the elites really hard. They are all extremely underwhelming and don’t feel anything elite… Most people just stick 99% of the time to renewed focus cuz it has at least some use (still totally underwhelming). Take some examples form guild wars 1 where there were elites that killed whole groups (Ray of Judgment). Where is all this super strong stuff? I really miss it. Everything feels underwhelming.
Oh btw i mean all the elites of all professions, even more the totally ridiculous bad racial. they are for nothing kitten .
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Almost everything in this game is extremely short with ultralong cooldowns and ridiculous effects. Compare GW1 blind with GW2 blind: in GW1 blind the enemy couldn’t hit you with a chance of 90% for the next xx seconds (there were build you could keep that up infinitely).
I know you can’t compare the two games, but they must notice that some skills are never used because of this. I noticed they buffed a lot of skills though (like Merciful Intervention heal and cooldown time or Necromancers Spectral Armor, which had I think 90s cooldown and 3-5 seconds of protection.

I played 2k hours as well and no precursor, but I still have 3 legendaries: I bought the precursors. Don’t go with the mindset that it is ‘unfair’. RNG is completely luck based and it even may happen that some people with only 1k playtime found 3 of those. I don’t get why ever kittening day another thread is started be cause one has the feel to tell us his frustration. Just stop, it doesn’t help anyone.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
That may be true, different individuals have different kinds of viewing and hence may notice different things more than others.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
I don’t get why this moves people that strongly. While I like aesthetics and the overall look of the game world and my own character, I really think it’s a bit ridiculous to complain all about these super small und tiny clipping issues. I always looked at this from a perspective that it’s an RPG: a lot of RPGs have a kittenload of different race/gender/armor combination and that’s why it is extremely hard to create a perfectly fitting result.
What I now see here is that some think the ‘female running’ is different. I watched the pictures and didn’t get it. I also didn’t notice anything in-game. What the hell, guys come down please just enjoy the game. It’s really questionnable that this thread now has two pages (and I even contribute to it :-))

I am aware of this Living World stuff, but we all thought they would either drive the story into the direction of a new dragon, maybe a bit faster. I hightly doubt, we will fight all the dragons. Before this happens the game will run out of players :-)
And bout the Nolan Batman Trilogy; of course they are all connected. I admit that Dark Knight and Dark Knight Rises are more connected but still it is a trilogy. And don’t get me wrong, I was a bit provocative. But as you can see the community wants progression and I want to point out they never asked for this Living Story/World stuff. That was solely the idea of Anet trying something new. I remember when I first read about this and that we may never get an expansion. For me this was kind of a let-down.
I am afraid that updates without expansions won’t have the impact an actual expansion would have. Maybe I am wrong, they can prove and I still hope we will get finally an interesting and intriguing story. There is still Palawa Joko, the Crystal Desert, Cantha, Elona, Ring of Fire 5 remaining dragons etc. etc. I think the community is a bit worried why they give us more or less shallow content instead of an actual interesting story like it was in GW1. I am aware that they ‘tried’ now for a year but if they will continue with this I can’t see playing this game often anymore.

We don’t know. No one has any idea why the develop this Living World no one asked for instead of developing the story they started with (dragons etc.). It makes no sense. It’s like Christopher Nolan started with Batman Begins and then never went on with the story, instead he made 30min episodes with Joker and Harley Quinn dancing in a field of flowers where butterflies and honey bees fly to the stars hand in hand.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Are you new to the game? If you play for a longer time you’ll do the right thing :-)
I vendor junk and blues, salvage greens and whites with the cheap salvage kit, salvage yellows with at least the mystic salvage kit if they are not more worth than i would get for one ecto on TP. I sell exotics on the TP, cheaper ones (like non-80ies exotics) are salvaged with the black lion salvage kit.
Crafting materials are a bit more complicated to tell, usually selling lower tiers than 5, but with the upcoming ascended armor crafting: hoard what you get, even lower tier mats.

You are totally right. The developpers have to see that as it seems they miss a lot like some bugs RECENTLY noticed but reported A YEAR AGO – (i.e. Guardian shouts bugs ‘Hold the Line’, group merging dungeon progression fail).

Defenitely something they should introduce. Also it’s spelled PER SE not persay, it is from latin and enjoys the spelling of this language. I read this typo too often, at one point, enough is enough.

Honestly, as a GW1 player for about 7 years: Bosses were never anet’s strenght. Most ‘bosses’ in GW1 were just stronger versions of their normal counterparts. There are a few exceptions and it got a bit better with the introduction of dungeons in the EotN addon.
But I always complained about interesting boss fights. There are other games that did this much better. It is still very unpleasing that GW2 now still has only one single really interesing instanced boss (Lupi).
There are however the bosses from the new dungeons like Molten Facility and Aetherblade Retreat. It shows that they have the potential to do it right. The initial dungeons just seem a bit rushed, don’t get me wrong. They have nice art design (one thing I think most ppl can second), but there are some really extremel boring and annoying bosses, HP sponges with utterly boring mechanics, just try HotW path 2…
‘would of been’ —> wrong
I am lucky I never had any issues aside from ‘leader’ leaving too early before I could open my end chest. But again although I appreciate that a developer takes his time to post/read here, it is very questionnalbe that they aren’t aware of such problems. It goes into the same direction with the individual dungeon rewards: giving Sorrow’s Embrace Path 2 and Honor of the Waves path 2 the same reward (1g) as CoF1 or SE1 is ridiculous and the only explanation I can find is that they have no idea that these paths are much longer and/or harder. It really seems that they simply have not enough personnell to extensively test their own game and since they don’t have any test servers this unfinished feel since the Betas will continue.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
SE1 and 3 are very easy and most groups breeze more or less through it. Just use the LFG tool.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
And then, after EOTN they never changed it again. I got bored as well. I loved the Factions background. But yes, maybe they’ll change it when we have a new hopefully bigger update (Crystal Desert or something else maybe?).

Guardian is Nightmare armored Charr with Celestial Dye and Sunrise. Warrior is female, has partially T2 armor and some other stuff, very purpelish (purple hair, purple star tattoos) and got Frostfang and some Zodiac Weapons.
I don’t like this black-armored-with-twilight stuff. It’s imho pretty childish and people think they are kitten if they are black and bulky. But that’s only my opinion.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
The always highly praised Zerker builds – especially for non-warriors (and guardians to a certein extent) only work if the damage is right.
It is an extreme difference between a kind-of noobish group compared to a very effective and experienced group.
I play a Guardian with only around 11-12k life at lvl80 and hits sometime can nearly down me. But if I play in a group where Kholer dies in less than 10 seconds, I really don’t care about my health or anything. I have bigger problems to survive with an inexperienced groups.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Just make a dual traiting system similar to WoW. Or templates in GW1. It’s pretty hilarious that they didn’t implement somehting like this from the beginning.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Sounds great. But a lot of wasted time. Cuz they’ll never do it. (I still have my hopes though :-))
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Sorry for double post: I wouldn’t kick a player if he’s only in Rares. But if he’s nearly doing no damage, I would give him some tips to improve his playstyle.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Would be nice. Make it like in Aion where you can turn off the feature to watch your gear. Same with duelling, you can turn of requests. At least give us the option.
Also, a DPS meter would be nice, so all these stupid discussions about ‘what profession/build is better’ would instantly stop. I am a veteran GW1 player, but also played WoW to a lesser extent, just fyi.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Hard Mode was not in the original GW1 release. It came with an update I think even after campaign 3 (Nightfall). There’s plenty of time to introduce this.
Stop comparing the grown GW1 with the only one year old GW2. There is – hopefully – plenty to come.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Want mounts? Go play nearly every RPG.
fixed that :-)
Really, why all this hate against mounts? Be cause they are in other games? Remember it is pretty usual that you have a horse or other riding possibilities in most RPGs. Stop associating it only with WoW.
It would be a great addition. Another nice thing we could collect and much more less useless than the minis.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
I didn’t stop, but reduced the play time drastically (maybe 2-3h per week). Mainly be cause lack of content: no new areas, no dragons, no main story progression etc. I made 3 legendaries and leveled to 80 with 6 professions (the other 2 nearly 80 too).
I just wait and hope that they will dish out an expansion or an update woth an expansion. If they don’t do that, I won’t coming back in a serious way.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
I don’t know your PC specs and your internet connection, but for me it takes about < 1 min to update the smaller updates. So, really no big issue.

I’d love to see those changes/additions: get rid of the zones, make one world, gives a lot of immersion (hey, we are in 2013…) and give us mounts, they don’t need to be flying imo. I love it in every (MMO-)RPG.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
A lot of wasted potential. I really don’t understand the designers’ decision to waste personnel and ressources by giving us such shallow updates every two weeks. Open the Crystal Desert/other areas, give us a new race, a new profession, a new dragon with a real story similar to Guild Wars 1. We want real updates, no mumbo jumbo festivity gem-store driven achievement grinding zerg fests.
I know that anet plans this, but why waste time, resources etc. on shallow and boring zerg events? I don’t play that often anymore. 2-3 hours a week. Better to stay offline and wait until they release some real content.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
It’s broken and – especially – totally unepic and unlegendary. Since the beginning of RPGs there were these super rare weapons and in about 99.9 periodic % they are acquired by an epic, hard and long quest. Not in GW2, you simply put some items and hope for luck.
I managed to have 3 legendaries. I never got a single precursor drop. I waisted about 200-300g and as well a lot of acquired exotics/rares as loot/through dungeon tokens. No luck. Others in my guild had already 3-4 drops – either MF or reward chests. It’s not the way you ‘reward’ dedicated players while other get it without any effort. I am not completely against RNG. It’s fine for skins after dungeon chests.
It seems that Anet rushed this part (and some others) of the game since they felt to release it regarding the competitors on the market.

It’s the problem with all the summoned/pet things. They die instantly be cause of the super strong AoEs in this game. They tried to mitigate this with more HP which is a bad idea. Most other MMOs just make them immune to AoE (or maybe almost immune, let’s say taking 10% of the damage).
As long as they don’t get that it there won’t be a solution. Since the beginning all the pet classes complain about this. It is especially annoying in dungeons. The issue isn’t as big in open world PvE, but that’s easy mode anyway.
So, Anet for God’s sake: make them immune to AoE or at least give them a massive damage reduction in PvE – otherwise these complaints will go on forever.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
If you run dungeons often it becomes annoying to fight every single group. Since it works in GW2 be cause enemies lose aggro people will do that. It saves a lot of time and sometimes you don’t have time and you want to get the rewards faster. I must admit that I don’t have problems with slower runs. But there are some situations where I hate to fight. Especially Arah, where running past many mobs is so easy instead of fighting them that takes a lot of time and frustration be cause they hit so hard.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
1. New Campaign: Zones, Areas, Continents, Races, Professions etc. Preferably Cantha or Elona, but also the Crystal Desert, Maguuma Wastes, Ring of Fire and other areas would be nice.
2. UI improvement: side bars for quick access for food, predetermined waypoints, minis etc. Trait templates with free change for different playstyle. Same goes for gear ofc.
3. Elite dungeons, raids, bigger parties (10-20). You did thatin GW1, do it in GW2. We need dungeons with bosses like Tequatly where we can fight in an organized group. The open world is not a good solution be cause of server limitations people who don’t care etc.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Just get rid of the kittening cap. It’s ridiculous and can’t be taken serious. Really, I mean REALLY!?!?
‘would of been’ —> wrong
1. Expansion or at least new zones, new real lore related story driven content (other Elder Dragons, hello!?)
2. New Professions and Races
3. Customizable side bars where we can put in food and other stuff for quick access. It’s annoying to open the inventory and find the item I need, especially during roaming, fighting etc.
4. Mounts, I love to get mounts in other MMOs
5. Raids. Tequatl is a good example and shows that Anet can pull it off. Please make instanced raid content for organized guilds. I think it’s kinda ridiculous that we actually have exactly 2-3 challenging ‘raid like’ bosses. There is Lupi, the Grawl Shaman and Tequatl (maybe Simin as well). While the other two are actually only for 5 people, they at least still feel ‘raid’ like. Compared to other MMOs where you have dozens of raid or at least challenging bosses this is a bit embarassing for a AAA game like Guild Wars 2 is.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
I read an article somewhere (or maybe an early F.A.Q before the game released) with an interview with a developer saying they chose DX9 so the game would be more accessible to a wide range of computer setups, but they also said DX11 could be a feature they add later. While this could now be a feature they’ve already discarded, it may still sneak its way in, who knows?
I tried to find where I read it but I cannot find it, sorry
These are just excuses. A lot of other games just have an optoin to either use DX9 or DX11. I see the problem in the engine being actually very old. It is a heavily modified GW1 engine which supported DX9. There are numerous other issues with this engine like moving platforms (as seen in Arah Story Mode).
Nonetheless the game looks pretty kitten good I must admit. There are still a lot of performance issues with fps dropping even on strong PCs though. They still have a lot to do…
‘would of been’ —> wrong
This is something that would enhance the comfort. It is annoying to always open my inventory for food, minis and other stuff.
Just implement additional indiviual side bars like every other MMO. I never got why Anet is so restricive with the UI.
