A few weeks ago (after feature patch) I dusted off my (Condition-)Necro to test with minions, just to see if they fixed the horrible AI-issues. And it was abysmal… they just didn’t do anything most of the time. Also since launch the Bone Minion wont approach the enemy upon using Putrid Explotion which is annoying.

This is such a class breaking issue. Since almost 2 years they are not able to fix this kittening problem. It is embarassing and never EVER should have made it out of Beta like this. I played a lot of MMOs and never saw such horrible pet AI. And best is they obviously aren’t able to fix that.

Good I am on a break for this game. Hope the game will be out of beta phase in about 1-2 years…

Your 10 great expectations

ProtoGunner.4953

1. New high quality permanent content (zones, contintents, lore etc.)
2. New class
3. New race
4. New skills and weapons for existing classes
5. Customizable GUI: let me place stuff where I want them to, let us change skill positions, let us have slots/side bars where I can put in my buff food etc.
6. New raid like content: let us fight bosses like Tequatl or the Wurm in instances as a guild. We finally can fight them WHEN we want and don’t have the hassle of the failing sever annoyances.
7. New crafting disciplines or gathering like: fishing or mixing elixirs etc.
8. Many of us – especially the GW1 veterans – want to have answers/stories about all the old lore: Palawa Joko, the Mursaat etc.
9. Give us rewards like new armor and weapons kins via IN GAME GAMEPLAY not just an unepic gemstore where everyone who has a credit card can buy them. It’s extremely unepic.
10. Make legendaries more epic: if you introduce new ones let us do hard content, send us over the world of Tyria and let us gather the materials in hard dungeons/raids etc. and for god’s sake: MAKE THEM ACCOUNT BOUND ON CREATION!!!! Selling and buying legendaries is a huge mistake and I assume this was done to encourage rich players just to buy them via trading post, so just a monetary idea behind this. The money making makes this game suffer and the overall quality suffers as well. I hope you will understand this.

WvW Tournament Rewards Distribution Delay

Still no reward chest. It is really incredible how constantly they fail to do it right. I played on my server since release and also bought gems in large amounts. If I compare this to other companies this is just disastrous and embarassing. Do it right for once! During the period of GW1 Anet was such a great company. There were of course bugs here and there, but I always had the impression that the game runs smooth and has constant content added, never crashes, has never problems etc etc. What happened? Also, it seems the only important focus is the Gem store for money making. That’s just sad. I stopped playing and moved on to other games. I will come back periodically, still hoping there will be some awesome stuff. Though since release the game is one of my biggest disappointments – especially how eager I was towards the release. It’s just sad.

ProtoGunner.4953

The game became stale and boring about 3-4 months after release. There was nothing real substantial and there was no end game from the beginning. I had my legendary by December 2012 and since then I just do ‘stuff’. There was no substantial campaign, no new profession, race nor new maps etc (well Southsun Cove…).

There is no new full dungeon (only replaced), no raid, not even groups more than 5 people, no new crafting discipline, no new weapons. And still they continue with this garbage called living story which made me skeptical the first time I heard. The game is boring and there is nothing to do. I already completed world twice, ran the same dungeons about 100 times.

The first planned boxed expansions was a great idea and I am again disappointed they continue with this lackluster gem store driven living story crap. Well, I stopped playing for now. Moved on to other games.

Underwater Weapons

ProtoGunner.4953

As with many aspects of the then so anticipated game, underwater combat was never received well by the audience. I like it too, but let’s face it; it is pretty underdeveloped. With removing them from PvP they don’t have to balance it. Though they even have a hard time balancing the very streamlined professions they have now. I don’t get it. They told it was hard to balance GW1 and they did a pretty decent job. Just seems all the good guys left Anet – is it just me or are there new folks at Anet every couple of months? Something just goes wrong with this company. It’s a shame if you were a fan of good ol’ GW1. But well.. they even can’t fix pet AI from Necro after 2 years… That’s just sad and hilarious at the same time…

I wonder if we ever get additional maps and content (PvE) and if those maps will have underwater content or even an underwater dungeon. It would be awesome if implemented right.

There are two points. First, you don’t need to grind it, it’s an Exotic. It’s just for looks and therefor a vanity item. Second, you are right, it is nigh impossible to farm. I had about 2-3 giant eyes drop in more than 2k hours. That’s ridiculous. Either they forgot about that recipe or they simply want us to buy it – if not with Gold, then with Gems by Credit Card.

The latter is pretty likely, more and more the game is just a cash shop for vanity items and offers nothing else. It’s a shame and discrace for the once so good franchise…

Yes, champions drop loot. Maybe Anet should implement lootbags for Veteran Karkas. But I imagine it is not possible from a develipment standpoint ;-)

The game kills totally immersion with this everywhere same-music concept and the parts of the worlds that don’t feel big and epic. I recently palyed a Beta of another game (many may know what this was) and it felt so much more immersive because a) there are many different areas in a huuuuuuge zone and all those areas have music that fits and changes. And the fact that all the zones are not so big and aren’t even interconnected (different instances) kills the immersion even more.

I agree with most points. The game is boring and there’s literally nothing to do. The living story is shallow and only adds temporary stuff to existing maps. One of the worst things is to introduce a new tier of armor without adding any content. Make us EARN those armors via Dungeons or Raids. Standing in front of a crafting station and taking out until-then-excess-supply-materials like slik is not epic at all!

My god, every MMO adds meaningful content, you did it as well with GW1, what happened? I really hope they will sell a box with a new zones/races/classes for the Mordremoth story arc…

ProtoGunner.4953

It very much is an honest assessment. When one sees very little being added to the game available to gameplay but a very heavy focus on adding new skins to the store (and GW1 skins only available through gamble, I mean Black Lion chests), it’s quite easy and rational to see how that could breed feelings of discontent. After all we see this complaint often and people asking for more armors and weapons to be added to the game through gameplay and not the store. I very much believe if more were added to the game that could be earned directly through playing that that would quell discontent because looks are looks and this is a game heavily focused on cosmetics. I don’t even get what you mean by ‘competing’.

Giving people more choice and balancing store and game armor would surely lead to higher player satisfaction overall which would make people more amenable to spending in the store if their finances allow. I know that when the game first started, personally I had a very favourable view of the gem store, but now not so much. That is completely down to the perception of balancing the amount of new store items vs. new game items (such as some new dungeon armor or hairstyle.) The balance has been heavily skewed toward the gem store, people have noticed and some find that a bit off putting. I get ANet needs to earn money, so I largely support the gem store. I just think if they got the balance right where the focus wasn’t entirely on it, the negative opinions of it would lessen. I guess this is a subtle and subjective thing of relationship building, give and take and trust, and not making it blatantly obvious that their primary goal is to sell to us. :P Like the subtle differences between a good salesman and a sleazy one. :P [/rambling]

Very well said! The game is stale, discouraging and boring. No new permanent content (maps, races, classes, towns, dungeons/raids) since more than a year.

I stop playing and go back to monthly fee model where the focus is in interconnected zones without any player limit.

I am hugely disappointed and there was a good game by the company called GW1 which had no monthly fee, a really SMALL real money store and new added campaigns. Go back to this, this gem store driven non-content updates aren’t up to your spirit of yore.

Game Updates: Traits

ProtoGunner.4953

I have a profession for every class. Luckily, all are 80 and one is 77, so no issue for me. But for the XIII-traits I have to fight some events which i can’t track, it is pure accident to find exactly this event active. This is very bad design. Do NOT lock such essential stuff like traits behind a time gate which may occur in an area.

I had to rely on guildies who told me if an event starts. The dragon timer pages don’t work anymore since we have megaservers. In fact you introduced a system which made it harder to get skills from the new system WITHIN the same update! That’s really bad design and shows that the Q&A is non-existend in this company.

Also another issue: when I finally managed to find an active Grenth temple event and also successfully finish the event the kitten trait didn’t unlock! What the kitten?

Review your update before it goes live for god’s sake!

It doesn’t really matter… I even don’t say something against Bearbows although it makes me cringe. The run maybe takes a couple of minutes more, who cares, really.

The last time I told something was in a guild run where one player told that his conditions are super awesome. I told him that the condition stat was one of the worst in PvE – soon after that I had all against me, so I stopped. Just let them be. If the run is more or less fast enough I just stopped caring.

I like fast runs but if the players are kitteners I rather do a run with funny people than the typical ‘I feel good and use Twilight/Dark Themed Warrior Berserker and don’t say a word unless it is to bash others’-attitude (yeah, I play Warrior meta too…). There are always 1-2 players in guild runs who are quite new or simply not interested in statistics/theorycrafting and maximizing effectiveness. There are a kittenload of other games out there and you can’t simply expect to have players all on the same level.

Game Updates: Traits

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

ProtoGunner.4953

Is that so? But still. You level to 80 within a week if you play normally. So what’s the problem if you have to wait a bit until you have fully developped? It shouldn’t be a problem to do without certain traits until 80.

play normally? Whats “normal”?
and how many hours is that?

you’re “week”, is different to my week.

Sorry for the typo. But yes, of course I made my thoughts about ‘normally’. There are people with less time who need – let’s say – more than a month. But then those people could complain that it takes ‘months to reach max level’ as well.

Again, you’re throwing timelines around without any hours.

How many hours does it take you, doing WHAT, in game to level from 1-80.

In fact, create a new character now and tell us all exactly how many hours it takes you. Then we can talk timelines.
_
The issue isnt leveling to 80, its that trait unlocks are boring/out of reach for the level they are meant to be accessible. Even if some people can level quicker than others, it doesnt change this fact.

It makes no sense, if one person playes 5 minutes every year it takes yeras to hit 80. If you play 15 hours a day it takes a couple of days. What do you want to hear?

Maybe I was a bit rude. Having 7 80ies and one in the 70ies (all classes) and not planning to create another chracter I am not affected by this new trait system. Only for the XIII-traits.

But to be accurate: you need around 50- 80 hours of normal play to hit 80. If you play only one hour a week, an MMO isn’t simply for you. The trait unlock system makes not much sense, of course. But on the other hand: just wait for max level, you can’t be taken serious under 80 anyways.

Is that so?

I am astonished why people create 64 characters. I am a gamer, but even I think, this is completely out of whack. Anyway, thanks for the info. Maybe 2 or 3 other players need that information ;-)
