Necromancer! Worst profession ever?

This thread is just a nostalgia issue, really. If you can’t stand it, then play a different class. I like it and I played the necro in GW1 a lot.

The statement that the GW2 traits are shallow is stupid. GW1 was by far less complex. The only complex was the interaction between skills (which was not that much, when the game launched). There were no traits, only some stat points, no sigils, only some runes with much less diversity.

To those who are new to GW2: don’t believe those ‘self-proclaimed-gw1-veteran’-guys posting everything was better. It’s just nostalgia. Same with fans of bands, movie sequels etc.

Path one is pretty easy, 3 is super easy and 2 is lovely (awesome art design), path 4 is pretty hard and only advisable for guild groups, but great/fun if you have a good guild and have TS, Ventrilo or Mumble etc.

I pug only path 3 honestly, and i managed to run this 2-3/day to get the full Arah set for my necro. It’s almost a no brainer and most groups won’t fail.

I really hope they bring some more great dungeons like Arah, it is the most beautiful (together with CoE) and challenging dungeon (aside from Fractals 30+). Lupicus is sadly the only true ‘raid’ boss with interesting mechanics. Most other bosses are just faceroll. It is a good start and I would love to see 10man raids similar to Urgoz’s Warren and The Deep in Guild Wars: Factions.

I asked a friend who is software developer and he told me this would take 3 days at max for one programmer. Even if it’s a minor bug, it’s really ridiculous that they haven’t been able to fix this AFTER 8 MONTHS!!!!!!!!

Anyaway, I have now Sunrise and Kraitkin, so I don’t care anymore :-)

Necromancer! Worst profession ever?

Yes, this is a common issue with all condition builds. But honestly. Usually we just check our builds for runs. And if I see another 2 condition builds in a group, I swap to my Guardian. There is no problem with 2 condition builds in one group.

The real problem comes in world events. You don’t do that much damage be cause of the 25 stack cap. But in all honesty: who cares? The events are faceroll things, you get your reward and do another. It simply doesn’t matter how much damage you deal, be cause you ‘win’ the fight anyways. And btw with the bosses dishing out a lot of damage like Dwayna, most of the beserker warriors are kissing the floor for about 1-2 third of the time. They don’t deal damage at all. Still: doesn’t matter.

Necromancer! Worst profession ever?

I play Necro a lot, mine is on lvl80 and i run it with full condition build. With blood is power and epidemic. It is pretty awesome. I can easily stack 15-20 stacks of blood, poison, vulnerability, weakness and use epidemic. I heal up my guildmates with well of blood and give them a short protection. It is a very good build and utterly versatile. With a few minor trait changes, I do very fine in WvW. I don’t get the complaints.

I also played GW1 the past 7 years and the necro was different, but I never felt the new necro is bad. The minions need some work, but otherwise, everything is fine. The damage (with conditions), utility and survivability is quite good (i use full rabid exotic gear and some ascended trinkets).

It just seems, that about 90% just don’t get that the necromancer isn’t about direct damage but an absolut boss in applying conditions. Make EVERYTGHIG to apply a kittenload of conditions. I manage to apply 15-20 blood ticks, each blood one does around 150-1kittenage with buffs etc. You can – if traited in corrruptions – use epidemic quite often and the bleeding lasts (as i am traited for this) for very long, usually 20-30 seconds.

As a comparison, I have a Guardian bunker build – all with extoic/ascedned stuff. OK this one isn’t intended for damage, but for healing. Of course the necro outdamages him. My Mesmer however is insane, single target damage with duelist and warden + applying conditions like bleeding and confusion through the glamour combo fields is very nice. On the other hand, this build is full glass cannon and i need to rely on my phantasms, who are easily wiped through aoe.

Ppl simply forget that damage over time constantly is way more reliable than a full berseker warrior who has to dodge and rely on other classes (ie Guardian) to stay alive. A dead player does 0 damage.

Why I think you're losing active players

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Casual is a very diversified expression. If you find it hard, to get exotic gear, then you doing it wrong. You gain Karma naturally. Almost everything gives Karma. It takes about 1 week to get a full exotic set, when I hit 80 with one of my characters. I play around 2-3 h/day.

In our guild we breeze through the content. I think the dungeons are super easy. If you have problems, even with CoF1, I really don’t know how you play.

Here comes the point: Games can’t be for everyone. It simply can’t.

It is no offence. I don’t think ppl who think stuff is too hard, are stupid or whatever. But they must accept, that some parts of the content isn’t designet for them.

RL rich = ingame Rich and vice-versa

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

ProtoGunner.4953

There is an equation. Time = Money. Usually rich have less time, they work hard and more. I work hard and more than most of my guild mates, but I have less time.

So while younger people and students for example play the whole day (no offence, I was a student as well :-)), I have no time to play and farm for gold.

Now, I have less time, but I can easily afford gems. I have no problems to spend €50 for 4000 Gems. I bougth them for character slots, bank tabs, backpacks, boosters and some germs I turned into gold.

Sounds pretty ridiculous. I did around 100 pug runs and never encountered this. We also played with mixed groups. I almost always play guardian. I never encountered a) class limitations (ok let’s face it: guards and warriors are always welcome). Yet, even with all the stuff, we also had Rangers, Engineers whatsoever in our group. We finish often in 8-10 mins, so I simply can’t see any problems. From time to time, there are groups that may fail or die at some point. The run takes 1-2mins longer. Who the hell cares?

Also, was this on US or EU server?

I simply can’t imagine, that it just vanishes – did you have a massive lag and returned back into the game? That happened to me once. I was thrown back some 2 minutes. Imagine this happens, while you create Dusk in the Mysic Forge – ouch.

However, there are problems like previewing items and buying something with tokens (withough the confirmation prompt). I wrote them too – lost 180 hard earned Shards of Zhaitan, same answer. I am quite surprised, they ’don’t have the tools’. I don’t know, but usually in MMOs, they easily can help you, for examle they helped me with a similar issue in AION (also NCsoft). They really should implement something like this.

The Naga is a piece of crap. Actually I think everything from Razr is extremely bad quality.

Nice generalization

1) every product that was ever made can be a “piece of crap” , if you are unlucky and get a bad one
2) Naga is not representative for all Razer products
3) wireless Naga is not even representative for all nagas

Not saying Razer is the best or anything. But what you wrote is just bs.

You’re reight, maybe other Razr products are better. The point is, I never had problems with any Logitech product. And I buy exactly one Razr product and it is broken. I also checked the internet and there were many complaints about the wirelesss one (I don’t like cords).

The Naga is a piece of crap. Actually I think everything from Razr is extremely bad quality. Logitech is much much better. I had a Naga wireless for about 2-3 weeks and it was broken. I never had this with Logitech. I have now two mouses. The G70 – simple streamlined mouse with almost no lags – even in wireless mode. Never had any problems. Also the Cyborg M.M.O. 7, which looks fancy, I like the pinky rest and the good overview of the buttons. Never had issues.

Razr just tries (unfortunatley) to appeal young gamers with fancy look. Nothing else.

I got my Kraitkin almost a week ago. It’s true that the night effect almost fails. But you don’t have to relog (that doesn’t help about 90%). Just un- end re-equip the weapon. That fixes it for now.

Also there are special bubble effects around the character? I noticed some, but thought that was just standard. I notice new details almost every day. Great weapon, hope there will be some more underwater content soon. I love the trident on my Guardian :-)

Yes please. I like progress. Ppl hate to ‘level’ but like to grind for titles like it was in GW1? I don’t get it. I like to go to places where I am too weak and need to work. I feel an achievment by reaching higher levels, higher stats etc. The non-progress was my biggest complain in GW1. Also, I’d like to see new traits and skills with the progress to lvl 90 (best would be with a release of Cantha, though I think it is not very likely).

One of the reasons I play a D/D Elementalist is because I simply love the animations, all of them.

So true, just like Ride the Lighning, I love it. Honestly, I never played an MMO with better animations. Sure there are some games with stupidly sick and good animations like the Final Fantasy Games but this ain’t a single player game.

ProtoGunner.4953

Not really, as soon as I hit lvl80 on a new alt, I can use all the jugs and drops of karma to spend it on exotics or just buy it with the tokens I got from dungeons. Since I have my legendary, I don’t play THAT much. Maybe 2 hours a day. Maybe 6-7 dungeon runs in a week. It is EASILY I really mean EASILY achievable to get exotic gear. I never, ever, EVER understand people complaining about gear treadmill. The few ascended items are easy to get. If you have problems, shut up and go play your casual mobile game.

Edit: You need a bit effort to achieve something, if not, games like MMOs (and honestl,y most PC and console games I played) are nothihng for you. I really can’t stand the whining anymore, it is just ridiculous.

The biggest letdown is that Zhaitan has no character. He doesn’t speak etc. and there is no ‘Endfight’. It woul be nice after he fell down that you land on the floor and there is the real fight. They really should look into how to present a good endfight. The even seven year old Guild Wars: Nightfall had a better endfight.

As an Engineer with over 3.4k armor and 3.3k damage and with the bomb kit, I have a really fun time. I can easily aggro about 5-10 enemies and kill them all in about 15-20 seconds. But it substantially harder as a Mesmer (also with full Exotics), so I understand this point. But at least on my server (Gandara in Europe) many players are on the map and I almost always run into groups doing the eventes (especially the Lyssa and Dwayna ones).

Funny, I was running as engineer HotW path 2 with my guild mates, and most bosses were attacking me almost all the time, it was so annoying. Maybe it was the damage output, or because I have so much toughness (traited 30 in toughness and have knight’s armor/trinkets).

ProtoGunner.4953

Just find a good players. I pugged, then i found some good players, added them and we run many dungeons (I am almoste done with full TA-set now). It’s not that hard to find good players, really. Guild Wars had always pretty hard endgame content. Also, this is supposed to be played as level 80. Sure it’s no problem to have one or two lower in your party, but it’s easier with good equipped and traited 80ies of course. I noteiced that most groups can now beat AC (yesterday i pugged path 3 – the hardest one – and no one died in the whole run).

This leads to the following: if you want good gear, you have to be good and socialize with good players. I admit that the story mode should be easier or maybe an introductio of a hard or easy mode (like in GW1) would be nice and welcome.

ProtoGunner.4953

Guys, this whining is ridiculous. I played a mesmer to 80, ran mostly dungeons and can tell you, that, if played correctly, our damage output is very good. Of course you need time for set up. I almost play with staff and scepter/pistol, traited for duelists. I had a 8 or 9 second CD on the duelist, I also traited in glamour so i can produce a lot of confusion. Especially in boss fights, I had constantly 3 duelists out, I even overproduced them, destroying the ‘old’ ones, be cause they almost never die (ranged). They pull off almost crits, apply easily 25 stacks of bleeding and with my glamours up (Feedback, Null Field) they apply also 20-25 stacks of confuion. Now I can even switch to my staff and place a nice Chaos Storm for even more damage. Chaos Storm hurts a bit of course and I don’t get, why the even prolonged the CD on it, but Anet will hopefully know why.
