The Argument for Tengu/a new race

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ProtoGunner.4953

ProtoGunner.4953

kitten arguments always I hear are: too much work with armors and all the personal story kitten.

A game isn’t set in stone. Just set them at a different time, i.e. after the current events etc. and add a different story like in WoW with the death knights. Make some exlusive armor for them and ignore (most) of the rest. Done.

Aside of this they don’t see any gain with new races. In GW2 the race is just flavour. Nothing more. Gameplay wise there is nothing to gain. Still I would welcome Tengu be cause they are awesome!

Well compared to the industry 50€ is still overpriced if you see what they delivered. And the capitalism is so well self regulating: it flopped – and a huge reason for it is the steep price compared to the content you get: too few, too much party oriented, too few instanced stuff like dungeons etc. It seems they learned from it and release now a full fledged expansion.

REmove the adventure from collection

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: ProtoGunner.4953

ProtoGunner.4953

Some players should change their attitude. Asking devs to change it just be cause they feel not able or too lazy to try and complete it (I mean bronze – for real?) is just lame.

Doesn’t matter how easy or hard it is, and btw. what about Mastery Points? You don’t get any for bronze.

If collections and MPs are tied to content that has nothing to do with an MMO, why not tell the developers to change that? Nobody asked for them to be easier, because people don’t want to do them in the first place. Even if they gave gold just for participation, people could ask for collections to be disconnected from them. If the developer’s management decided that time, energy and money should be spent on creating console mini games because few people like them, that’s their decision. The data about participants they have tell them nothing about the success of those “adventures” because people do them not because they enjoy mini games, they only do them for collections and Mastery Points.

Remove collections and MPs from “adventures” and don’t make them dailies, and then collect data on participiation. My bet is the results would show that the time, energy and money spent on creating them was wasted because only a handful players do them. And then they probably only do them once and never return.

But no, “force” people into doing something that’s no fun for them, and the team can prove how much players like it because everybody does mini games, right?

I admit that it’s not a good idea to link adventures with MPs. But it is your opinion that adventures are not fun. I am no fan either, but I don’t mind doing them. Not everything is fun for every individual. There is always something someone dislikes. Get along with it. It is how it is. Anet heard a kitten ton of complains anyway, I think (and hope!) they will do it better with next expansion.

What's the point of playing this game?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Sounds you are just not as good as your enemies. A meta automatically emerges. There is always a meta which can give you the necessary edge. In my experience 90% of PvP complaints is people who are not good at the time of the complaint.

The rest: an MMO has grind be cause they want to keep players playing. And anet is quite fair with it; if you have BiS gear once you have them forever. Most MMOs release new gear tiers with new content.

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

ProtoGunner.4953

Don’t get me wrong the very idea of events is a great idea and a lot of other MMO producers introduced it as well. I loved the HoT maps at first and completed all achievements/events within the first couple of months. But I understand people who play off time, want to play alone or whatever and feel a bit off, when they can’t do anything. The idea of meta events on every single map and the few maps they released at first has a lot of people driven off. Understandable, if you ask me.

I play now extremely sporadically (1-2 hours a week if any) and what I see is that in whole Tyria are events no one is doing. That’s the standard case. It’s just there and you don’t really meet a lot of people. You simply can’t expect casual people to check all the timers, taxiing and trying to join a bottlenecked map. It’s just very consumer unfriendly. But this is crucial to just finish the standard procedure in DS for example.

Elite specs provide too much benefit. Forced choices are only good when all options are equal. If I made you choose between $100 cash or a sandwich, is it really a choice? No, because only a fool would take the sandwich. This is the type of “choice” that we’ve been given. It’s not a real choice, it’s a fool’s choice.

You’ll take the sandwich a 100 times if you are in the middle of nowhere, where money has no value – and exactly that means situational. That said: I lately used a ranger condi build – ranger, not druid. So there are some uses of old professions.

The original 3(4) HoT maps are pretty empty during European prime times. You can’t just do something – I don’t envy people who are beginning their journey now (and not 1.5 years ago). If you want to do all the map achievements and events you have to use LFG and/or organize groups yourself. But that was the case from the beginning of HoT anyways.

I never understood the mount hate in GW anyways. What is so bad about it? It’s another thing we can add to character personalisation and a vast amount RPGs have mounts in some form.

The argument that we have waypoints is null and void. Why not have both? Also there are maps where WPs are far away or contested. I hate to run the whole map by foot in Malchor’s Leap or WvW. Annoying and boring.

ProtoGunner.4953

It’s hilarious how anet tries to ‘fix’ this and of course it doesn’t work. Expect another year of ultra expensive leather.

I wonder what their theory was when they did the following to remove the excess amount of hardened leather:

1. Increase the refining from 2 to 3 pieces
2. Add leather needed for insignias for all weights of armor
3. Added a kittenload of recipes needed for the Scribe

And probably other stuff I don’t even know.

So instead of trying to use one method they totally overexaggerate and even a kitten year after this they aren’t able to fix it. Good lord! Just revert from 3 to 2 pieces for god’s sake. Why the hell don’t you do that!?!?

Unfortunately, the level of frustration these days with casual gamers is low and that’s why the whole industry tones down the difficulty. At least there is a new trend with Souls and Souls-like games.

The reason why sage isnt on any event timer is simple ( and something anyone who runs the tower leather farm should know – note i said runs not taking part in ) sage is the only boss in lake doric who is on a different timer . All other events / bosses in lake doric have preset times where sage run on a timer that starts upon his death . His timer runs something along the lines of 90 – 120 mins from when he was last killed – thats to say , if he was killed at 11:55am he wont respawn till 1:25pm to 1:55pm . When lake doric first came out – he was trouble for me to get a time schedule worked out and there seemed to be a lack of details on his spawn but after talking with other coms who did the runs regular we managed to work out spawn times but that only worked if ppl knew when he was killed last on that instance otherwise its a case of having to watch for him whilst doing tower runs then announcing ( yes some of us coms are nice enough to announce he`s up an loop bk to centaur camp to pick up ppl needing sage then doing him ) . Szu – there are still coms doing the tower runs but its a case of finding a map with little or no engis camp farming – we coms like large squads and its hard to get a big squad when engis have a squad ( no offence to engis as its their only gd farm in the whole game sadly ) . Keep checking LFG or place a lfg looking for tower/hill runs is all i can suggest as we will place lfg when doing them.

Okay, thank you for clarification. Thought it might be something like this.

Also a l2p issue. etc. But you have some points. In the end it depends what your group wants, what content you want to do and to adapt. Tyria (continent not world) looks like a normal (yet very VERY beautiful) fantasy world, while Elona feels like something tottally new! and Cantha looks promissing in GW2, even if there is a bunch of Asian themed MMO’s nowadays.

Anyway, let me go to the land of the golden sun please!
