When stat swap utility on non raid armor?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: ProtoGunner.4953
Stat swap will be for nothing since you still keep the runes in your armors and they need to be overwritten. So who overwrites runes all the time, especially if they are like 10g?

Getting silver wasn’t an issue. After 2-3 tries I did it. Also the Energy Crystal drops quite often. I had it quite a few times and also I did it quite often. So imho not big issues. But it seems a lot of people don’t want to work anymore for their special skins/items.

They didn’t know why no one was running it (boss spider spawns didn’t vanish after failing). And they just though it isn’t popular out of no reason, that’s why they just removed it. It’s total whack. Really, the idea was to ‘change’ the world be cause time passes and ‘Living World’ isn’t always the same.
It seems they abandoned that idea since they learned that it is a complete stupid idea to remove content they created, especially if you have so few content over the past 4 years.

Just make a flag where you can block inspection. I would gladly have this feature then. In Aion you could block inspection, that easy.
Mounts: yes of course.
Duelling: I don’t like PvP and duelling in WoW was not my cup of coffee, but it would be a nice addition and not much work (well if you ignore balancing). Skills/traits could swap to PvP mode if they decide to – finally – separate those two.

No, legendary should be hard and annoying to get, that’s why it’s a legendary. And you have to level to 500 once. It’s not that it’s a big deal. The first time round it’s hard, but after doing your 6th and 7th legendary, it really isn’t an issue anymore.

Another thing I noticed is how shockingly unpopular GW2 is. Go to twitch and there is almost no viewers. People don’t know or remember the franchise and they are on a decline. I don’t know why exactly but there is no recognition, there is nothing viral (the one cheater who got deleted after cheating in PvP was the only thing the past 2 years).

One of the main reasons is that NCsoft is a Korean company and denies GW2 to enter the Korean market. Most of those earnings are made in domestic market. I mean who plays horrible games like Blade & Soul but mostly Asians?

There were several complains about too prominent footfall effects from older legendaries. That’s why they made the new ones a bit more decent.
Also I don’t think all too pompous footfalls would fit Nevermore. It’s a dark/mystic/forresty weapon. Not a kittening Circus.
I’m not asking for pompous anything…. There is literally no foot trail whatsoever. you take 1 step get a print then gone in like 1/4 second. Also sometime you take a step and there no footprint at all. It is not fair. If I wanted a pretty staff could have just got the tempest skin staff.
TL;DR — Nevermore needs foot trails.
I have Nevermore and also Astralaria and I can assure you that Nevermore indeed has footfalls. You usually see 3-4 when walking, they fade away rather fast, same with Astralaria, but I like it how it is.

You forgot something important: it’s all megaserver now. You simply can ‘guest’ to a different server. The only exlusion is WvW where you have to have it as a home server. But you can play the whole PvE content as a guest on a different server.

Stuff you’d expect from an expansion:
- at least 8 maps
- 5-8 new dungeons
- 1-2 new raids
- new race/profession/subclasses (either one is okay)
- some new unexpected features like GvG or towns you can attack with your faction etc.
- oh yes, factions
- landmass would be lovely if in Cantha or Elona
- a longer story than the excuse we had in HoT (comparison: 4-5h in HoT vs. 20-25h in Guild Wars: Nightfall)

I was max mastery 3 or 4 weeks after release and I wasn’t even the fastest in our guild. I really don’t understand how one can not be max. level. Especially people who are online all the time. If you really want to do it, just join an escort group in the raid. It’s really no big deal to finish that one.

Sorry but there are some parts where you simply shouldn’t play what you want. It’s not that 90% of the rest of the game does matter, right?
This constant complaining just be cause you aren’t willing to adapt for a single fracture of this game just baffles me. If you really aren’t willing to swap signet of the hunt for frost spirit. For real? It’s one single skill, and signet of the hunt doesn’t help in dungeons/fractals anyway…

@Vayne and @Ayrilana, you are defending the game with such a passion…
First off, I think people overreact about price and the ‘I PAID ALREADY FOR ORIGINAL GAME’ argument. They played hundreds or thousands of hours for 3 years and got well worth their fair share of playtime.
But hear this: You can argue whatever you want there are two rather strong suspicions that lead to a not-so-good marketing strategy and failure (in regards of anet’s/ncsoft’s expectations):
1. The overwhelmingly negative reaction about the price of the expansion compared to actual content (landmass, dungeons etc.). Features-wise the expansion delivered though. Also they didn’t meet expectations sales-wise. It wasn’t bad either, but they expected more. So, somewhere they din’t deliver what a lot of people expected/wanted.
2. The treatment towards veterans. I was puzzled that I first didn’t even get a single additional character slot. In GW1 you got 2 slots per additional campaign (yeah, you’ll start to argue that it’s a campaign and no expansion…). After the nerd-rage emerging in the forums and reddit they at least added one additional slot for people who already had the game. But then again only under certain conditions; you can’t get it anymore.
Additionally, they ask charges for LS2 which is a very bad move. They could have marketed the expansion better (like ’HoT – LS2 included!). The story is so much tightly knit to the events in HoT. And it was for free anyway during the release.

Just increase the kitten population per map. It’s ridiculous how fast they fill up. Compare it to WoW where you have hundreds and thousands of players in the same instance and then look @GW2 where the servers are full with 100-200 people. It’s kitten ridiculous in 2016.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Also a new race is only for flavor, nothing more. It doesn’t add anything to gameplay.
But imho they could introduce a new race differently like in Pandaria in WoW: just make them separated with their own story and old armor won’t fit. They get their unique sets and new introduced armor sets would have those applicable.

Why does Lege armor have to be tied to Raids?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: ProtoGunner.4953
It’s also an incentive for players to do the raid. It makes it something special and people know you did the raid, separating them from those who don’t do it. And that’s just a fracture. Expect a lot less legendary armor wearers than weapon or backpack wearers.

Asura and their voice actors are awesome! I play a female asuran mesmer and it’s so fun. Sometimes she says: “You’re dumb. You’ll die, and you’ll leave a dumb corpse!” It’s so mean, but fits the arrogance and hubris of an asura.

I don’t get all the whiteknighting here. The OP is absolutely right: every reasonable person would assume this content is free, so is – let’s say – southsun and other stuff. Also other added content. Imho it was a bad and unreasonable decision to make them free at release and then put it behind a paywall. I just wonder what they were thinking, it just makes new players mad.
Nonetheless they were fair that you can buy it with in game gold.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
I absolutely hated it. This is the third time they hid the exploration of a new map behind a mandatory mission all your characters have to do.
They did it with Drytop, with the expansion we payed money for and now again with this.
This particular mission is also kitten. The player character is a pathetic pushover that never makes a decision of his/her own. How about “No, I don’t want to test this kittenty arena. I have to fight a kittenING Dragon!”
Stuff like that ruins the notion that Primordus is a threat.
Another thing that ruins that is the fact that apparently the player character is so kittened that he/she thinks having ONE person doing the research on this dangerous dragon is totally enough.
The mission itself wasn’t fun either. The destroyer waves were too long and the “funny” easter egg was just annoying.
This mission spread a two minute dialogue into a 12 minute waste of time. And you have to repeat it on EVERY single of your characters you want in the new area.
Missions like that destroy the ridiculously small amount of immersion this game has to offer.
They also had the stupid as bread player character in the Guild Wars 1 Nightfalls expansion probably before that even. So no change in that area for nearly a decade now.
For HoT you don’t have to do the first mission again. If you did it once on your account, just run through SW to VB and you are fine.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
The bosses are just ‘cheap’ hard instead of ‘interesting’ hard. Take Dark Souls for example. They are hard bosses, but you will ultimately learn.
In GW2 there are always these two aspects to make it harder: give it a kitten ton of health and make them hit for 20-30k, i. e. single shotting. Also, it’s shear impossible to go melee. If you like this playstyle you have to adapt. It’s okay to change builds etc. But not if you have to swap your whole gear.
I can live with it, but just lower the health. It just takes too long to kill.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
(edited by ProtoGunner.4953)
A kitten ton of other MMOs, smaller than GW2 manage to release raids and dungeons. Why not GW2? Why I always hear “this needs resources”, “they have more important things to do”. Sorry, but those are bad excuses. No, they just need to release them and for the rewards: they release like new skins for the gem store every month. So, apparently they have resources to do this.
Dungeons is for a lot of people an essential part of an MMO and this game is the only one I know to be so stubborn to release any new ones.
They made several mistakes in the past: the two dungeons released during LS1 got shut down, dissected and squeezed into fractals and the only one that was in the actual dungeons was too gimmicky to be run casually (aetherpath) by replacing an existing path (two mistakes!).
After they noticed that Aetherpath is almost never run by most people they though it is wasted time/resources. But instead they just should’ve released a less gimmicky dungeon. People just want to kill bosses and run thtough it. Take Ascalonian Catacombs for example. People like is run regularly.
This shows just something that was the issue with this game since the release of 2012: they don’t know their own game. They don’t play it they don’t know why TA Forward/UP wasn’t run by many be cause the boss was broken (their explanation was simply: most people don’t run it anyway). And also they don’t had a clue about how long/hard certain paths were. Otherwise I couldn’t explain why SE2 rewarded you with 1g and SE1 1g, but faceroll AC gave you 1.5g each per path.
