Well, other games just release one or two full raids every 6 months. Nothing special here, imo.

TD is awesome and I hope they’ll make maps more like this. Followed by VB which is an easy map to navigate. You get used to it if you do it a couple of times.

Dungeon running was already a ‘tradition’ in GW1 and is completely legitimate.

LOL, this ridiculous dungeon path? Dude, just dps him down, if you have problems, use stability and reflects.

If you would play the game instead of posting 1000 posts in 10 hours you would’ve made those couple of masteries. Took me like a couple of days. The first mastery (gliding) literally takes 1h max. I can’t see a kittening problem. People always feel eligible to get rewarded disregarding their playstyle an if it is the kittentiest playstyle. No, you have to wake up and follow the rules of a game!
‘would of been’ —> wrong
I assume they reduced footfall effects for HOT legendaries be cause many people complained about the effects cluttering the screen.

Is this even worth a thread? Just ignore them, who the kitten cares. On the other hand, think this: while the single individual doesn’t matter. If all people who should attack just defend there is no attack team and the event will fail. I don’t want to take sides but want to give food for thoughts.
And for god’s sake: reporting on this is ridiculous. People report and moan and block everything who doesn’t suit their opinion or hurts their tender feelings. This society has literally no problem if you feel hurt by such ridiculous incidents. The only people I report are gold sellers – those kitteners.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Lol, make a thread be cause of 5$. That’s less than a tip for a dinner… some ppl really need to get a grip. You can use it later anyway (and you will).

Ruining of course not. But they made mistakes and they certainly didn’t made it accessible to a broader playerbase. I think that’s why we don’t see anything new as they concentrate already on new expansion which will be more accessible and have more content (hopes).
okay, but who will buy that new expansion?
they will have a hard time selling it to other, than HOT fans
if they make it casual, they will kitten off the paying customers again
if they make it hardcore they will narrow the player margin even more
they have painted themselves in a corner there
They’ll include the original game and HOT with the new expansion and advertise only the new features of the expansion. Also they’ll sell it for like 40-50$/€.
I didn’t say make it more casual – rather more accessible. Make the open world mobs hit less hard and less make them less annoying.
I tell you this as a defender of non-casual gaming who always defends anet for their decision. But let’s face it: if there are no customers there will be no further development. I’d rather have easier mobs (in the open world) than no expansion at all.

You get the hang of it and kill the boss rather quickly. It’s much much faster to kill the dragon and restart the boss fight instead of doing the whole instance. It takes about 5mins to kill it. And 15-20mins for the whole instance.
If you really need 15mins to kill the boss, I suggest you rethink your playstyle.

You don’t even need story. Either use the GH to go there or just walk the way through Silverwastes (far Southwestern corner of the map) and enter the portal there. No story needed, not even prologue – many don’t know this.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
If people haven’t maxed out gliding by now they should reconsider their playstyle. If they are so lazy why bother playing an MMO anyways.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
It’s not hard and it’s soloable. Everyone stating something different is just a bad casual player, sorry, but that’s a fact.
I come from a long gaming history back in the 80ies and if a game was unbeatable – which was actually pretty common (who remembers the infamous ‘Nintendo difficulty’?) – it was me who was bad and not the game. It was always me.
Today we have a vise-versa situation: people feel eligible to beat everything – despite being a horribly bad player who doesn’t care about mechanics etc. They can do that of course, but don’t kittening dare to complain about the game. The industry is going the downspiral since gaming became that popular, anyways. Don’t destroy it completely.

I just wonder how some people can survive in this brutal world. One google search would’ve solved the question.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Fact is overall polish, quality of graphics and everything is so high in GW2. You’ll notice it if you play all the Korea grinders like BnS, which seem so cheap; the chars feel so patched in and the walk animations are so cheap with low frames and unnatural. Black Desert looks good though they kittened it up with no end game and boring fetch quests.
Aside from WoW all MMOs I played (including FFXIV which lacks a lot of quality of life stuff like the horrible, horrible map etc.) no other came close to GW2 quality wise. Something I actually always appreciated in games.

AP req. is really a thing? I don’t give a kitten on it. Really. Especially, if my friend and me are playing high dps eles, it really doesn’t matter the 2mins you are faster.

Still, the OP has a point: aside from the raid nothing substancially like new Maps/Story etc. has been added. It’s literally the same ridiculous only 4 maps we have for a full expansion! I was so sure they’ll add 2-3 new maps. Aside from this: still no single new fractal? Instanced 5man content has been stale since 2 years! I mean this is ridiculous. Look at WoW: they add 6-8 dungeons every 2 years plus 3-4 raids! No really, the amount of content released for GW2 is just horrible. I really don’t understand what them take so long. Just do some easy dungeons, we don’t need fancy kitten like aetherblade TA (you know the one no one does be cause of gimmicks and all the kitten). We want some cool bosses and fancy gear. That hard?
‘would of been’ —> wrong
I am 100% sure that about 70% of the player base have no idea what the blue bar means. I assume most think it’s kind of a mana/energy bar. Just play Shatterer and you know what it means.
This is the lack of introduction in the game. The game needs to teach what CC is. I mean really hard teaching like an instance you have to accomplish with all the mechanics the game offers: CC, dodging, combo fields/finishers etc. Also people just mash buttons without thinking once, resulting in kitten like the typical Bearbow to use LB #4 kicking mobs out of a AoE field.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Elementalist wins it :-) I tried with ranger and it’s about half the dps. But the ranger boosts the ele about 40% (tried with friend), so at the end the result of the group play is important.
Oh and I also tried Daredevil. It’s right next to ele, a bit lower. But the overall dps is a bit better against a moving target.

They were initially intended as a playable race. There are even hints in the game until today. The starter map ‘Dominion of Winds’ is even on the map all around where the huge wall is (i.e. East of Caledon Forest, South of Kessex Hills, West of Lion’s Arch).

Just completed the whole thing and i have to say, it was horrible.
I’ve never died so much in a game in years, the difficulty is beyond a joke solo, and well its a massive let down because the actual story and the theme is some of the best i’ve followed since Guildwars 1.
But to actually play the kitten thing it was beyond painful and tedious.. When you’ve died so much your whole armor is broken, having to repeatedly go to youtube videos and forums to complete stuff and the game gives zero information, fighting bugs and game crashes…
The Mystery Cave was just the torture cave, i’m sure the devs get a massive laugh at our expense, great job..
I’m done no more pain.. never going to do any achievements because i’ve had enough frustration for this year.
Kinda upset i even purchased hot and LW2 now.
Dude, you are already whining around in the other thread. Learn the mechanics in GW2. In PvE damage is everything, makes a lot easier and use active defenses. And don’t come with ‘I don’t have max gear (ascended/legendary): You can easily get through anything in this game with exotics (besides, it’s super easy to get ascended trinkets).
Get a grip and don’t spam the forum with factually: ‘The game is bad, be cause I don’t want to admit that I am unable to play the game properly’.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
So, after more than 6 months there is still nothing. No, additional living story, no additional map, no new fractals. The only substantial we got was the raid. So what the heck are you doing? This is really bad marketing. HOT was small and I had hope we get constant new content and now not even that. 4 maps with meta events (which are great imo but too few). I am pretty disappointed.

Being bad at games doesn’t make you eligible to get you a Legendary. Either accept that or try until you make it. There was a level in Mario Maker which took the player who succeeded it took 48 hours of trying. That’s what I call dedication. Getting silver in ley-line running is so kittening easy, really. If you can’t even do that, you aren’t eligible to get it. Alas a Legendary is a piece of achievement. Not just camping around and farming crap.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
You get excess amounts of pry bars. I regularly delete the ones over 250 stack.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
I don’t understand, even with a squishy zerker ele HOT is mostly faceroll. You have tons of active defense, and your dodges. Yes, you will die from time to time, but not if you pay attention. All who claim it’s unplayable solo just don’t pay attention enough.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
WTF? Just buy the kitten expansion if you wanna play the new stuff. Really, what are people think? You get everything for free?
‘would of been’ —> wrong
It’s pretty clear that HOT was rather a let down, content and financially. Compared to FFXIV Heavensward which helped to increase the popluation (and we talk here about a subscription based game), HOT managed to decline the population.
That said: I was very disappointed how underwhelming the story was driven. Yes you kill mordy in personal story, but it’s really the same feeling you had: that’s it? Well then, I went on, expecting to get more information and a real encounter via living story… nope. 6 months in, nothing…
They really need to put out content, it’s an MMO kitten . You just can’t release a merely 4 maps, ask for 50€ and leave the game without any significant update (Raid was great tho).

People get a bad 1st impression from hot. If you play a couple of hours you’ll adapt. And no, you won’t die a lot anymore. Also, there is a lot to do, just check the achievement tabs for each map.

I noticed a huge decline in players in Lion’s Arch. I know you can’t tell anything about it, but the ‘main city’ used to be very well populized and now you barely see 5 people at the bank. Maybe cuz of SAB?

Content is too thin since release of GW2, really. Other companies manage to release more meat, far more. I think the development process of Anet is just extremely long and complex. Otherwise I can’t imagine who they manage to release so few maps, no new dungeons, no single new fractals, put legendaries on hold etc. It’s just not there. I love this game and I hope they will do better with the next expansion. That said, I had a lot of fun playing HOT. Quality wise it was great. Verdant Brink or Tangled Depths were ingeniously crafted and imo one of the most complex maps I have ever seen in an MMO. Absolutely stunning!
The reason why they release so few maps is because DEs take longer to design than static quests. Static quests in most games don’t scale and don’t really interact with each other. DEs do.
Also static quests can easily be calculated so that you know exactly how much experience you need. As an example, Guild Wars 1 Prophecies had 203 static quests. Guild Wars 2 launched with over 1500 dynamic events.
The thing is, you need a LOT more dynamic events because there are no quest hubs. It’s not like people are guaranteed content, until you have so much content they can’t miss running into something.
Traditional quest systems don’t suffer from that.
That said, sure you are right. Those maps are rather complex, especially compared to most other maps. But why not just ad ‘normal’ maps? Why only such huge meta event maps? People already complained about it. I like those maps, but sometimes you just want to hop in, play 30mins and do some random events à la Central Tyria.

Here are 3 reasons why the expansion is half done:
1. NO LEGENDARY WEAPONS
2. NO LEGENDARY WEAPONS
3, NO LEGENDARY WEAPONS
/thread, have a nice day
We have 3 new legendary weapons. It’s not no and we also get one additional. So in other words, about 25% of the Legendary weapons we got.

I had this issue too, but after a while I learned to not hold the jump key/space bar in GW2. I know a lot of Jump N Run/Platformers like Super Mario have the mechanic that the longer you hold the jump button and we do it intuitively. But you can just learn not to hold it. It’s not that of a problem though I’d love to toggle it off. Only deploy glider while double pressing. But hey, maybe they’ll introduce that

To be honest we are extremely spoiled today. 50€ is really not that much. I already played my good 500h in HoT and if you break it down it’s a really good gain.
I remember when I had a super nintendo and wanted to buy Super Probotector (Super Contra in the US) and it cost about 120€. This game was about 40min long.
People are spoiled by the sheer amount of freemium MMOs scattered around the internet which you can play for free. I want all of you to remind you that it takes huge amount of effort and time to create content – especially for a company like Anet who obviously invest a lot of time in different iterations (which slows their content progress though).

I usually never kick people, no matter their gear or level. And that’s perfectly fine for sub 20 fractals which is kitten easy anyway.

Levelling is fun for the first few times but then it gets boring. I hate the heart quests. They are so annoying, and after completing the map thrice it even gets more boring. But then again that’s with every content in any game. I levelled my last two chars with tomes. Plain and simple. I get a kittenload through fractals, so I really don’t care about this. Usually to fully develop a new char with elite specialization takes about 2-3 hours; tome/scroll up to 80, go to guild hall, then I do all the easy HPs in Auric Basin, Verdant Brink and Tangled Depths. Voilà.
