Player Housing

I couldn’t care less about housing. I give a kitten on Guild Halls. It’s just a good place to go to he jungle for free and loot the nodes.

I’d rather see more dungeons and other content than this useless crap.

With a zerker group consisting of 1-2 eles and some other standard stuff (chrono, ps warrior etc.) they go down fairly fast. A group dies within 10 seconds. So why make them easier anyway? Also, the masses do it: we usually kill most mobs in CM dungeon and after 3 paths you have quite a lot of bags and loot which give you the sought after t3-4 mats.

Sounds a lot of ‘non-raiders’ are actively fighting against going to the raid in any way. Bullheaded behaviour… just do the kitten escort. It’s really not harder than any dungeon. If you are not even willing to do that then live with it.

Why no Dungeon change?

Yea… two fractals in like 3 years and both are made of assets of old content. Great stuff.

Adding assets is the least expensive part of a new dungeon. The encounters are new and I find them a lot of fun. So yes, to me, they are great stuff; sorry that you don’t like them.

It’s not that I don’t like it. It’s the fact that it’s ridiculous few content for such a long time. They advertised fractals as the 5-man content. So, no dungeons anymore and then they dare to put out a mere two fractals made of old assets.

Most dungeons are a joke with the new builds (and most were a joke before even HOT came out). But the main problem is that they seem to ignore the dungeons. They don’t even create new ones. I don’t know what the problem here is. Every MMO releases dungeons in a regular way.

ProtoGunner.4953

I checked the expansion of a rather big competitor game, which released it a bit before GW2. HoT and their features is about 5times the stuff we have in GW2. 18(!) dungeons, 2 raids, 3 new classes, 1 new race, 9 new zones… the list goes on. And they recently announced even a new expansion… and it was cheaper. Anet, get a grip!

It’s just not there. I liked HoT while it lasted and it lasted about 3-4 months. The scarce content patches they release keeps you playing for another 2-3 hours and while nice there’s no meat on it. And this after a mere 3.5 zones… I really hope the next expansion has like thrice the content HoT has…

The “hero” is not always the shining star everyone respects and listens to. Sometimes in order for a character to grow, mistakes have to be made.

I absolutely agree.

Also, Braham is young, stubborn, erratic, volatile. Typical for some troubled 18-25 year olds with mother issues/complex. Why do people have such a problem for a character how he is? I mean don’t you like Game of Throes? People were terrified by characters like Joffrey or Ramsay but they also loved the show be cause of such characters.

Characters being just black or white are boring. Of course Braham is annying, but so is it in the real world. You can’t expect people acting as you wish, they are individuals with good and bad days, changing mood etc.

Mystic Coins 1 gold each

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: ProtoGunner.4953

ProtoGunner.4953

They are too expensive. Period.

Are they? Who decides when the price is too high? When it’s too low?

They 100fold in about 1.5 year in price. This can’t be good at all. The surge of coins you generate is very low and if you need any you have to either wait for months/years.

No one ‘needs’ any. The sole use of m-coins is on premium skins and a dozen or so one-time guild buffs. The surge of coins we get for free is about a stack per year, which is plenty for those of modest means. If you want more premium skins more often, I don’t see why it’s a bad thing to pay a premium.

Also wtf guys you’re talking about ‘price is about the same as last year’. The price of the coins during last Wintersday were 10-12s, it tenfold since then…

  • Price during same week last year was 27-31 silver, when it spiked with the release of the new skin.
  • Price hit 65-75 silver during June of this year.
  • Mid-July, it was 75-86.
  • Late July, it was 50-60 (it went down, when people thought it was dropping frequently from Current Events)
  • In October, it hit 76-86.
  • In November, it was down to 68-76.
  • With the return of a fancy skin, it peaked at 93-104.
  • Now it’s at 90-95.

The problem is that a lot are used for the guild hall and the new legendaries use all one stack more than the old ones. So the surge of coins is about the same as ever, but the demand is much higher. Probably also some greedy folks who hoard the coins to make money.

I would imagine that the vast majority of demand for guild halls has already happened. It’s a one-time requirement and while some guilds are still building, most have had over a year and no longer need them. What’s more likely is that the community’s psychology about m-coins has permanently altered: we are prepared to pay 80-120 silver for them now, we aren’t willing to wait for our free ones.

The only reason some of us think that’s “a lot” is that we remember the good old days when m-coins were cheap and we didn’t have to stop to think about how many we had.

I know all the arguments and they are symptomatically for the guild wars forum. The price used to be 1s for like 3 years, the economy was used to it, so that’s why I think it’s the ‘normal’ price. I just used a higher scale. If you stretch the scale to lifetime of GW2 they were 1s for a long time, now they are 1g, so 100fold.

Of course if they always were 1g we were used to it. Still they are limited, and the less people play and the more we use them the price is rising. I think it’s too high. They should do something against it.

Your argument that the coins are not needed is derives from false conclusions; this game is about cosmetics and almost every dedicated player wants them, hence the increase in price.

Well, everything shows the same. Sinking revenue, sinking interest (big game sites like Gamespot not even tested HoT – imagine that…). Popularity is down to nothingness, on Twitch GW2 is behind almost all major competitors. They usually get 20 views, compare that to WoW – 10 years old – with tens of thousands of viewers…

No, they misconcepted it right after release not going for expansions but living story and then decided to actually make an expansion, but only half-baked which was clearly initially though as living story releases. Then we get the expansion with only 4 maps and a high price tag. Bam! That’s why people leave. That’s why they do now everything to change that and I really, really hope they will release the next expansion next year. Otherwise even less people are returning.

Looking at Twitch right now, None EST. WoW – 15,700; Runescape – 6,100; Black Desert – 1,400;; Lineage II – 1,200; SWTOR – 750; Elder Scrolls – 530; Guild Wars 2 – 510

So we have MMOs that are old and have millions of players and ones that came out F2P this year in NA/EU. Also Twitch viewer ship for a game is very caster based as 40% of the viewers for any particular game listed above are from a single caster. If a caster’s following was built playing a particular game, of course they will continue to play that game. Also Twitch is international so games more popular outside of the NA, for instance nearly all Lineage II streams aren’t in English reflecting the fact that Lineage II isn’t popular in NA.

I think what he is saying, is that GW2 is starting to be invisible for the masses out there. It’s one of the many MMO’s that ones was a thing, instead of being one of the big MMO’s.

Of course you would prefer it to be one of the big MMO’s. Imho GW2 had the possibility to be one of those big ones, also still today. That is why I did get into GW2 and not in the many other MMO’s.

Yes, that was my point. It’s the whole recognition value of the franchise. There are a ton of Overwatch, LoL, Dota, Warcraft, Diablo etc. cosplays, jokes, memes, comics, fanart etc. Of course this doesn’t represent the reputation or the success of a game/franchise, but I don’t see anything near this from GW. GW is dead, people ask me if I tell them I play GW: ‘Oh really? This still does exist?’

If popularity is so low of course people won’t play it. It’s one of the many MMOs in the soup of MMOs and in my opinion GW deserved better. I don’t know where this comes from but maybe it has to do with the rather flat characters and non-recognizable, distinguished protagonists. It’s a shame be cause artistically GW is an absolutely stunning franchise.
