Can we have more Dungeon?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

ProtoGunner.4953

It’s a shame what they decided with dungeons, I really hope they come back to their mind and introduce a couple of new dungeons soon or with the new expansion. I remember when they said they planned fractals as the ‘new hard 5man content’ and since then one new fractal (a conglomerate of already existing parts of old fractal dungeons) got released. That’s just a bit embarrassing.

They even dissected the then by LS1 introduced molten and aetherblade dungeons and mad it to fractals instead of just letting them be. What in god’s name were they thinking?

Yeah, tried T4 new fractal yesterday, and we are by no means ‘noobs’. It’s just not fun to play, bosses take ages to take down and if you fail you can begin anew. You make your way to the end eventually, but it’s by no means any fun. But yeah, at least we can do lower tiers.

If bosses go down slower than before the most recent change you’re doing smth wrong. It should go a lot faster.

Yea, I did some more, it was actually just from my first experience, we did Chaos boss the other day. But then again I only did Chaos boss once weeks before on T1.

I really loved the WoW LFR thing. You get worse loot but still could experience the whole raid. For the people who wanted a challenge there is normal, heroic or now mythic mode. I like this solution. In my opinion – especially in WoW – it’s pointless to grind/raid 2-3 times/week only to realize that the best gear is crap a couple of months later.

Anyway, in GW2 there is the problem we don’t have different gear in the same rarity. So that means ascended always have the same stats. To solve that I’d suggest an easy mode where you get less items or lower chance for items/tokens which takes longer to get the same rewards etc.

Can we be able to hide mastery levels?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Asking for 5 – 6k AP is arbitrary and stupid. But my experience is that someone with low AP like 500-1500 is usually significantly less experienced and dies a lot more/does not know the skips etc.

I had a good experience lately though, accidentally joined a low level group in SE3. I told them in short everything and they followed. They even manged to do the rather long skip after the first boss. I was extremely surprised as usually 1 or 2 always die there. I asked them if they play 2nd accounts, but it seemed they were just dedicated players. So there it is. There are a few exceptions and I am glad I do it from time to time.

I am astonished how helpless people today are… really, I just wonder how they can survive.

You know when I first entered this map I just took some information from the internet:
- there are timers that show when the events start. Just play some other content and set an alert etc.
- as soon as the map resets there is a time you can easily join an LFG from a commander. I never ever fail at doing this, not if you wait for 5 minutes
- even then I managed to rejoin or join a map mid-meta-events just by spamming instance joining

Sure it’s not the best solution to make people play together, especially not for an open world map. That has been criticized for about 8 million times in this forum. They learned from it and changed quite a lot in the new maps.

Massive damage in PvE?

ProtoGunner.4953

If you mainly play PvE you are fine with 90% of the content if you run Berserker Gear with those classes.

You really should get ascended berserker trinkets, they are rather cheap/easy to get, then you can either craft or find (i.e. in fractals) ascended weapons. They are rather expensive though (couple of 100g).

Last but not least if you really want to min/max go for ascended armor. It is by far the most expensive and only gives you a small damage boost. Also you can use Scholar runes or depending on class rune of rage etc. The builds from Metabattle show it pretty well.

In any case, AP and Mastery Level tells you less than absolutely nothing about anyone. If you are kicked from a party based on AP or ML, then assume the latter is so stupid you never wanted to be in a party with them, anyway

Pretty much this. If someone is judging a player based on this, they don’t really understand the game themselves and will prolly hold you back.

Wrong, low AP usually reflects bad playing. But it isn’t a must. I don’t care about AP but usually if people have low AP they are significantly worse in dungeon runs than ppl with a couple of thousand AP.

After many months I finally managed to unlock the “elite” class on 2 of my characters, but am sick and tired of the same challenges and running blobs in WvW to unlock them for all my classes.

These “elite” classes are an essential part of the game and a must for pvp….It’s just rediculous that we need to farm the hero points over and over again.

Personally I think this should be an account wide achievement which should only be done once to unlock all elite classes…like materies!

LOL you kittening serious? It takes me 2-3 hours to fully develop elite spec. Use LFG, takes usually 5 min to get some people or ask some friends. It’s really no big deal.

Too Many Items - Please Help

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: ProtoGunner.4953

ProtoGunner.4953

True, there’s a kitten ton of stuff you are not sure if you want to keep it or destroy it. Especially those kitten recipe books. I just started to destroy them constantly. Really, never played an MMO with so much annoying loot.

I almost never have trouble deciding if I want to keep something or sell it. When I’m sorting my inventory I go through this process:

1) Check if there’s anything my current character can use or any skins I want. Put them in my invisible bag to sort out later.
2) Salvage all the rares for ectos.
3) Sell all the other equipment on the TP.
4) Salvage any equipment I can’t sell.
5) Deposit crafting materials.

That gets rid of the vast majority of stuff. Then I have just a few things to sort out and in most cases I know what I want to do with them. For recipes I’ll use the TP to check what it’s worth (if it’s a book I’ll just search the shared part of the name so I can see them all) and if any are worth a lot I’ll pick that one and sell it. If not I’ll pick one I don’t have and learn it. And if I already know them all I’ll pick whichever is worth the most and sell it. It probably sounds complicated but it only takes a few seconds to make a decision, the most time consuming part is typing out the name.

On the rare occasions that I get an item I literally have no idea about I’ll check the Wiki to find out what my options are and then decide.

I am well aware of this and I also check wiki if there are some strange items I never heard of. But still I think it’s annoying to have – let’s say – all the items you get for Mawdrey and you don’t want it at this point but still not sure if you want to keep it combined with a certain kind of lazyness and not enough space for such crap in the bank storage. So you keep those items in your inventory for years. I have constantly 3-4 rows full of crap in my inventory. Stuff like Verdant Brink contribution rank booster or the shovels from Silverwastes which I haven’t used now for 6 months or so but would be angry if I don’t have it in my inventory IF I should go there. Ah I just find it annoying. Really never had I an MMO with so many different currencies, items and stuff.

Option to hide other player's backpack

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ProtoGunner.4953

ProtoGunner.4953

go to your graphics options and turn the character models at the bottom to low on both settings there.

I want to be play the game on max settings, because I am able to. I don’t want to lower the graphics just because some players want to make the most obnoxious looking characters ever. I rather have an option that remove objects—backpacks in this case—that have started to destroy the awesome and beautiful appearance of the rest of the game.

Backpacks and flashier armours and effects were finer back in the older days (except for the humongous spell effects that were going on in combat) but now flash armours, visual infusions and obnoxiously big backpacks in form of wings have appeared far too much, and just destroys the general feeling of the game world.

then thats your problem. not anyone elses.

And he’s asking for ANet to give him a solution that would work better for him. It’s not like he’s asking for the backpacks he hates to be removed from the game. That would be absurd.

He’s just asking for some means to enjoy the high graphics settings without having to see the backpacks he doesn’t like for whatever reason.

And there are good reasons for there to be a hider. Jumping puzzles in areas with already bad camera angles. People who get literal headaches from a particular backpack. One of the backpacks is just incredibly ugly to them and it ruins their enjoyment of the game.

he does have a option all it does is make all players wear basic realistic armor that keeps immersion. “b-but muh max settings” what? do you like to sit in lions ark and brag about them or something?

That option only works in PvP. It doesn’t work for PvE.

If they do any sort of hide item feature it should be: hide all or hide none. That way no one can argue about what is too “flashy”, “big”, “immersion breaking” etc.

The easiest would be to give PvE the same thing as PvP. I’m also only arguing for it due to the objective reasons: large wings on large Charr, or even just large Charr, make it hard for others to do jumping puzzles when the camera angle is already bad. Not because large wings are out of place in the game.

“only works in pvp” so i can tell youve never used it. because thats false.

For one I have no idea why you are so aggressive against these options being added in, since they do not affect you in the slightest, and two the Standard Model option is only in competitive game mode which is sPvP, while you can lower the Character model quality, it does not remove Back items or weapons the last I checked so you see people running around in Grey default Armor with particle effects and giant back pieces still.

So I ask you why should other players be forced to look at your choices, and conform to what you want graphics wise? Why should they have to lower there game quality because of other players decisions on Armor/Items that provide nothing other than Display clutter and rob them of better performance on their machine?

they are already added in. im not aggressive here im simply stating you dont want to use them because “muh max settings” that only affects other players and puts them all in realistic armor everywhere. someone posted a screenshot of it. your asking to waste dev time on something thats already in the game.

No using the character model quality does not remove legendary armor or Backpieces or their particle effects, why should other players have to lower their gameplay experience because of people like you? The only place that Standar Models removes all Particle effects from items and back items/ Legendaries is PvP no where else.

Lol, what a PC are you running? Even a 8 year old PC can run better settings…

HoT needs a dungeon or 5

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: ProtoGunner.4953

ProtoGunner.4953

In my opinion dungeons in GW1 ware a lot more interesting then their counterpart in GW2, can anyone really compare Sorrow’s embrace to Sorrow’s Furnace? Is there any dungeon in GW2 the feel like Slavers’ Exile?
There is a huge repetition in the dungeons of GW2 the best example is Crucible of Eternity. Yes there ware problems in GW2’s dungeon design, the lack of actual mechanics and such, But i think that the team need to learn from it and create better dungeons with interesting stories, something like Shards of Orr or Vloxen Excavations. If Anet can fix fractals and create interesting living story chapters then in my opinion they can assemble a team that can create new dungeons, something that will be interesting and challenging, that have actual mechanics where enemies are vulnerable to traps or environmental damage in the dungeon, let the players use their brain and not dps damage sponges. I don’t really like fractals for me they feal like random portions of dungeons held together by paperclips , i cant even select the portions that i dislike and the story element there is very week.

In my opinion if Anet ware smart they would have changed the raid party from 10 to 8 give small parties the ability to use henchmen and call it retro dungeon, it would have made so many people happy.

Every new content can be considered as a waste of time, with this state of mind all anet need to do is sit on their laurels and let us do the same content over and over again.

What irony! The fact that the 18 dungeons in GW1 had a lot of copy paste areas. Most ‘levels’ of dungeons were just used in other dungeons. I remember how cheap that felt back then.

It’s just so depressing seeing the absolute pathetic dps of the brown bear. And then it is one of the most popular pets you see in open world PvE.

I play healer Druid in raids and it’s pretty meta. The guys from metabattle rate it lower be cause it is not optimal in their eyes. They prefer a more dps oriented support. But fact is: in 95% of the raids there is 1-2 healer druids with heal stats. It’s pretty fun but first a bit awkward to use.
