I don’t get it, you learned the first mastery, what’s so special about it that you have to start a thread? Anyway, have fun.

Imo it’s always ‘easier’ to do solo content, although it is harder. What raiding makes hard is that 10 people have to concentrate, not only you.
That said, the hardest content I ever played in this game was:
- Liadri
- Vale Guardian
- Achievements at last boss in Living World Season 2
I love content like this.

Funny thing is CORE Tyria takes me longer to complete than HOT.
So CORE Tyria > HOT IMO – the Hours I spend in CORE > HOT.
The Hours I need to complete CORE > HOT.
The cost of CORE vs HOT = Same on Release.
And another one with the wrong price. The expansion was 10€ cheaper. Please get that straight.
But I understand the general resentment. Content in HOT was thin and then again we don’t get anything additionally for months or even a year to come. Although it’s ridiculous how people always call it doomsday after a drought of content. This happens all the time.

People want no grind, but a great reward. Then again they want to have something to do, but not too much for a reward. When they get no reward, they are bored though. If they are bored, they tell you there’s nothing to do although there is something to do, but grindy, which nets the reward. There is no solution for everyone.
I can only agree on one thing on this expansion what’s general consensus: it’s too little content. Far too few maps: usually you expect 6-8 new zones, new small party content like dungeons and – in this case – new fractals. Big MMOs generally add 5-8 new dungeons. And 2 raids. New PvP modes, professions etc.
We only got professions and a guild hall, one PvP mode. Which is okay. But the PvE content is very lackluster.

Wow what pathos… Dude get a grip, me too plays games since the 80ies and I played a lot of GW1 and GW2. Of course I am disappointed by the decision Mo made since it was promised we get a full set of legendaries. On the other hand, legendaries are not that important. Other games release 1-2 legendaries for one expansion and most people can’t even create any legendary their whole life.
I myself have 6 legendaries and love to create them, but imo it is more important to add actual content in form of new maps, dungeons, fractals and raids. Everything else is just fluff anyway.

Great comment, I wholeheartedly agree with his statements. I am less angry, more disappointed. There are always a lot of other games I want to play, so I just can wait and come back if there’s something interesting.

HoT is not that difficult, but certainly harder than faceroll braindead Central Tyria, which is good.

The original game was too casual and easy. I am happy with the new direction. With a few tweaks here and there (mushroom explosion 30k damage wtf!?) the game’ll be fine.
They certainly should’ve added more than four maps and certainly they should’ve added maps with other mechanics instead of all of them with huge meta events taking place at a certain time. But that said I love them: they are complex, huge and ingeniously engineered. Embrace it, learn the mechanics and the stuff. It’s not that hard and if you have problem just play a necro:
“too casual and easy”=7 mio sold boxes
“complex and huge”=700k sold boxes
if it was too easy and casual, why did you stay for 3 years?
do you actually LIKE to play easy and casual games?
FYI, if i do stuff like this in other games, they give me at least one epic item
not random greens and blues, but purple or orange, and with multiple choices
We don’t know figures, but I personally don’t care much how a game performs. True if you want to please the crowd you have to make games more casual friendly (though there are exceptions like Dark Souls series).
I concentrated mostly on dungeons and legendary crafting, but I also had several and long breaks for months. It was always my biggest complaint that there is no challenging group content and additional dungeons by the way.

First is for fractals/dungeons but can be used with a lot of success in the open world.
2nd is for the raid: I use Mallyx instead of Jalis in the raid, but that’s personal preference.

Simple fact: they are not happy with the dungeons. That’s why they fired the dungeon designer pretty short after release. They had metrics that showed how lackluster and primitive the design is. If you observe the mechanics from fractals, you note that the mechanics are less susceptible to simple DPS down. They encourage you to do some other things like remove stacks of shields or whatever. It is broken beyond repair and they know it. And since they lack the resources they just abandoned it. Also I think they nerfed the rewards for two reasons:
1.) incentivise to buy HOT
2.) with new sub-classes (specialisations) they become even more trivial and are done within minutes – the rewards for it from todays viewpoint are a bit out of place, so they removed a huge chunk from it
In my honest opinion I think it’s a bad move and it’s beyond reason to introduce a new expansion without any new 5man content. There are no dungeons which alone is rather questionnable but they dare to say that Fractals is their ‘new 5-man content’ for HOT and then they don’t even add any single new fractal?

Games don’t and shouldn’t cater to everyone’s needs, it’s not possible and you are not entitled to get everything. Legendary are vanity items and not even better than ascended items…
That said, you don’t need a lot of time to raid. A friend of mine just does one boss here and there and those sessions take 1-2h.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
I am happy a new player comes and thinks positive about those maps. I also think they are something I never saw in an MMO. There are some single player games like the Metroid Prime series which have huge complex and convoluted worlds. I suggest these series to everyone, you can buy them on Wii as a collection – great series.

Try it out and if you fail to do, then ask in map chat. Some you can’t reach first, you need masteries.

Put it this way, even PvE players complained about this expansion!
Dont bother buying HoT if you really want to buy it, wait the end of this year when they will launch the next expansion and buy that; you will get HoT free with it then.
Hopefully Anet learned from their pricing mistake. Those that bought the core when it 1st came out, then paid full price again for HoT should get the next expansion at a reduced price.( i.e. cheaper than players that have never paid for and owned previous versions). None of this pay the same price as 1st timers pricing.
Well 1st, the expansion wasn’t full price (though near it). 2nd people who bought the original game played for hundreds and thousands of hours. If this isn’t worth the price of 60€ I don’t know…

Maybe you are not ready to get them? They drop fairly easily, usually you get 1-2 ores per Ori node, but it happens that you won’t get any for 1-3 nodes.

I have never raided but this clearly proves what a joke raiding is in this game. At least in WoW it takes months to beat raids even for top guilds. Even then I don’t understand why anyone would take pride in raids. Anyone can beat the scripted static content with enough practice. Give me truly hard content with dynamic and opponents with brains and you got me interested.
Not really, it’s pretty the same difficulty. Most WoW raids after Wrath of the Lich King got clearead 1-2 days after release. Also, you can clearly see the next tiers of gear (grind) it took sometimes 1-2 months. If you remove the gear grind it’s pretty the same. If GW2 introduced new tier of gear after every raid it would also take a couple of days/weeks to finish a raid. Also, don’t forget that getting gear in WoW was time gated.
The first 40-man raids though and Sunwell were kitten hard. That’s true, but Blizzard took note since only a tiny fraction of the playerbase even went into those raids.

I made it a couple of months ago, it took about 1-2 months and 1.5-2k gold. I was passively farming HOT for a long time though. So I already had most before the new Legendaries released. It will take a while for the 250 Crystalline Ingots.

You are screwed. Just bad luck. A few tips, which made me doing this event every time I wanted with only one crash so far (out of 15-20 completions):
- check the timer here: http://dulfy.net/2015/11/09/gw2-hot-maps-timer-famme/ get on the map before the timer resets and make ready to get into a map via LFG tool, you will always find an organized group easily. Never had to look up ‘ten times’.
- use the 64-bit client: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/64_bit_beta_client
Problems solved, voilà.

It’s extremely alternate character friendly. You can swap your whole ascended gear which I always do. Also, it takes only a month or two time investment to do high fractals. And you even can join low level fractals.
Again, there are only complaints left and negativity. You aren’t eligible to be the chosen one and the game isn’t developed about you and your skills. There are compromises and for the n-th time: Get over it or leave it be.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
There are some attacks from mobs which are ridiculous, I once got hit by a mushroom explosion for 34k damage…
Anyway, I played now with 6 classes in HOT and after a certain time you usually get along alone. IT’s not that hard, just be active, dodge at the right time, use your evades and know what your skills are doing. IT’s really a learn to play issue. But it seems a lot of players are just mashing the skills on cooldown – let alone see all the braindead bearbow rangers with their hit-LB-skill-4-on-CD…
‘would of been’ —> wrong
I maxed out 161 (still never done vale guardian) a couple of months ago. After this I played less in HOT, but until then quite a lot, I alotted about 500 – 600h since hot hit and I estimate that I played around 250-400h in HOT alone. I finished all the events numerous times. Can’t count how many. But about 20-25 times all the meta events on all maps. so that means about 100 meta events. Some days I stayed in one map for 4-5 hours to finish all the meta achievements.

Much easier: use impossible odds from Shiro stance. Also if you max out and unlock herald you can use facet of elements which gives you perma swiftness.

It’s not only that it is hard to make ascended armor, it’s a kittening obscenity for new players to level just through the mid tiers. As already mentioned, the use of low level tier mats for highest level gear to increase demands into interstellar space is the biggest failure I can imagine in an MMO market balancing. What the hell was Mr. Smith thinking, really. You kitten up all the poor new players when they are somewhere between 200-300 – especially if the go for leather crafting.

They drop quite often in Fractals but it is an absolute horror – especially for new players – to craft them. It was okay’ish before HOT update but with the almost complete lack of leather acquisition through normal gameplay imo I give this system a medal of dysfunctional idiocracy. Never ever have I seen a game where you need low tier materials to craft the highest tier gear. Especially not if you can’t get them through normal play.
You can play for weeks without using any craft and still you aren’t able to craft one single elonian leather be cause the acquisition of the low tier leather (or linen) is so lackluster.
Yes, there are karma merchants, yes there is the TP. But imho this is a stupid way to get it. This isn’t legendary, you should get max stats gear slowly – granted – but not nigh impossibly by just playing the game.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Yeah, but i wound’t change all my gear. If there are issues, use buffood with +vita/toughness. Should be enough for one fight. It’s true though that your DPS is not really important in this mission since there are a lot of other damage sources from NPCs.

My new Herald. Skins used:
- Herald’s Shoulderpad
- Leystone Breastplate
- Zojja’s Warfists
- Militia Leggings
- Ascalonian Protector Graves
- Light of Dwayna
- Blade of the SunlessColours used:
- Abyss
- Various shades of green.
Light of Dwayna doesn’t mix well with the tequatl swords. Also I would work on the skirt, looks pretty low level gear and – again – doesn’t mix well with neither light of dwayna and tequatl skins. That’s just my opinion though.

APs don’t tell much. There are even people wiht less than 1k on a 2nd account who are very good ofc.
But the experience is this: generally, people with low AP are worse in fractals. Not always, but the probability is rather high, that someone with 2k AP performs worse than one with 5k+. That is what I generally noticed in fractals. Nonetheless we are talking about 20-30 fractals – imo it’s ridiculous. I don’t give a kitten how much AP someone has anyways as long as they are good.

I like them as glider skins but I despise two things:
a) not a single glider skin that you can get through game content/playing the game. Every single skin aside the ugly original skin is by paying gems
b) people complain about mounts cluttering the area but those silly wings cluttering everyone’s sight is getting ridiculous

GW1 had inexpensive (compared to a full standalone campaign price) PvP unlock packs for all campaigns. I don’t remember the exact price because I never bought one, but something in the back of my mind tells me they were around $10 .
But you had to buy the new campaign in order to play the new classes. The original one had only 6 core classes.

Most people like the elite specs. Same goes for PvP, only be cause you don’t like it doesn’t mean all don’t like it.
I know, right? Would of been great though to have access just to your elite spec without having to pay another $50, especially when you are forced to enjoy everything else in the Patch be fore you can use the traits.
It is quite normal and industry standard that further development of your character is locked behind the paywall. There must be some incentive to make people buy the elite spec otherwise they won’t sell it – especially PvP players have no interest in buying an expansion. And yes before you mention it, it is too expensive, yes, 35-40€ would have been fine.

Old topic but true: Tengu would be awesome! I see the problems though. They have to recreate every armor again for an additional race (or they simply can’t use old armor which creates outrages). Also they won’t add anything gameplay wise, it’s just flavor.

I never have problems getting in a good HOT map. You just seem not to know how the maps work. It isn’t the most comfortable thing but it works like in SW: open lfg and look for ‘AB meta event’-like posts and join them. That easy…

There is simply not enough content to justify the 9 month break preceding it and the (probably) 6 month break following it. Not even close.
In addition, content we were promised for HoT still hasn’t even been delivered yet. PvP has lost all its entertainment value. Elite specs were disappointing and not even close to being a side-grade as promised.
Why should I even log in anymore? There’s nothing fun to do.
