You are right. This taxiing etc. is really something broken, but as it stands now that’s how it works. And whether you like it or not I rather go to a map where they do those events.

Example: By myself, at Three in the morning, I was running through I believe Lonars Pass? I came across a Champion Ice Worm. It was Labeled a [Group Event] I’m too Daring, so I took it on, After twenty minute battle, I actually defeated, Alone! I walked up to the Chest! Three Blues, One Green, no Wiggly chest, 11,250 Exp. By myself, and they couldn’t have dropped one Rare or Exotic?

I know this event. I solo this boss within 2 minutes. Don’t know what gear you have, but just use zerker…

Also, the game can’t do if you play online during off times. I mean of course you can’t expect to meet a lot of people 3 in the morning…

Did you ever get so mad that you bought a game out of rage?

That was me last night after wasting well over a half hour trying to keep Nobles camp from dying so I could access Axemaster G. There was a total of 4 people that ever appeared and only one helping out.

So, finally, choppers down, and boss time. Axemaster G has me and the one guy asking for help in chat. The rest of the map was busy failmashing on Matriarch, taking a solid 16 minutes to down a single boss. With 4 minutes left, there was no way Axemaster was going down. Nevermind that Axemaster is a horribly designed boss that no one will ever do a second time because of insta-kills and constantly spawning adds. Why bother?

Seems you haven’t done this map often. Also, you clearly have no idea how the mechanics work on this boss; first you need the one mastery that makes some enemies visible when they go invisible. After that you have to break his bar in order to prevent the insta down skill. Also, you need about 10-20 people in order to kill it. Usually takes 5-10 mins to do so. Pretty easy. You have to look for better maps. If you want to do it, shout out on map, tag up commander, invite people and taxi people to the map. I did that with a friend who was commander. We filled the map and made the whole map do the meta event. If you are to lazy for that (which I understand) you can still find a map. Usually you’ll find LFGs during nightfall.

HoT itself is even more ‘casual’ than it’s raids. I reached max mastery (161 at the time) in a week or so, reached fractal 100 2nd day (wouldve been 1st day but team wasnt there untill 7-8 hours after release) wont even talk about personal story since thats braindead afk content except migraine but i soloed that after a few tries.
About legendaries and making money? I made HOPE in a 1-2 months but that was mostly due to not wanting to do the boring and annoying collections which I just forced myself thru in a few days.
then what is left. open world? could you honestly look at the average open world player or someone that does it regularly and say they are any good? nope. TD was semi-challenging but after a few weeks ppl did it with 90%+ success rate and that was with ‘pugs’ on TS.

I still love gw2 to an extent and there are still ‘hardcore’ things to do, a lot less than before HoT and this ridiculous powercreep makes 5 man content completely faceroll and raids easy.

Then you just played like insane. I have friends online playing daily and still have not even mastery rank 40. If you rush through content that fast (and probably don’t do anything else in your life) then no game will satisfy you.

Season 1 was horrible short lived, superlight content without persistence. The only good things – the molten dungeon and aetherblade retreat – were removed. The sorry mini parts of those dungeons in fractals are a joke since the original ones were much longer and cooler.

You can max out a fresh character for elite in about 2 hours, at least that’s what I did with a freshly created warrior which i leveled up with tomes. I went via the guild hall to Auric Basin and grabbed most hero points (they give always 10). If it was too hard I asked in map chat to get help or I had a friend helping me out. I went further into Verdant Brink and took 1-2 HPs in Tangled Depths.

I went from 0 before HOT to 3h pre-HOT to 6-8h during HOT. I have constantly about 10 friends online and our guild has 80 people online every day. It really is a matter of perspective and personal experience.

Fused Weapons Skins coming back?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Fused skin always had a special place, similar to the 2012 Halloween skins: they were first locked behind the fused tickets which you could get from a Black Lion chest. Then they made them later available for 7 (not 2, not 5, 7!) black lion tickets.

You have to know: before the introduction of black lion tickts there were individual tickets, like the dragon jade skins etc. I think they always wanted them to be ultra rare, be cause they felt they are especially cool be cause of the super duper flame effect.

Anyway, I had a lot of fun the first time I did the Mouth of Mordremoth boss fight. But also was blown away by all the new maps and height, the first time I was in the canopy, the first meta event in AB – the music, he atmosphere etc.

It gets repetitive ofc. but that’s with all those content. I had a lot of thrill after I created Astralaria, the collection was pretty fun to do and quite original. At least until I had to make 250 crystalline ingots

Real statistic: 99% of all gameplay in most games is walking or performing other mundane tasks.

99% is so overexaggerated. maybe it’s 50% and also heavily depending on your playstyle. If you are a RPGer you hardly fight at all. There’s not only black and white.

Its like he said, mobs are easy as long as you avoid them. Epic journey where you fight powerful monsters and come out victorious you ask? Sorry you cant have that in the jungle, you gotta run for your life there. HoT in a nutshell, move with the players zerg or hide in the bushes… just make sure there isnt a frog waiting for you there.

Only if you are kittenty at games. In most cases you just can kill the enemies easily. Especially as a reaper. It’s so faceroll, and what the kitten read I about soldier gear on reaper?

That’s why I love my soldier reaper build. I just charge into overwhelming odds and then kill everything. Although I am slower at it than all the leet glass builds.

LOL you already have a kittenload of HP and survivability on reaper. Anything else than zerker (or viper’s/sinister as condi) gear on a necro is completely out of whack! Only a half braindead-zombie would need that.

It’s about 6-8 DS metas for leyline gliding alone. With 2 hours of ds per day, it’s a week. For a single mastery, not even a whole tier. And yes, dedicating 2 hours a day, day after day, to a specific activity you do mostly for mastery xp is definitely a grind, and not something casuals are likely to do, unless they have a ton of free time.

So, you prefer to have nothing to work for, just grinding your way for loots and complain that there is nothing to do?

More like, if i need to work for it, i’d rather have a multitude of choices, rather than just repeating the same 4 metas on the same 2 hour timer.

It’s account wide, you have to do it once.

And? It’s still a massive grind.

And you don’t have to do it immediately, why the hurry? What’s the gain?

There’s tons of things i’d like to work on that are hidden behind high mastery levels, unfortunately. Yes, i don’t have to do those immediately, but then taking it slower just extends the grind (and boredom) even further.

As mentioned already, the problem lies in general lack of new content. Maybe if there was a lot more new things to do, i wouldn’t be bothered that much that some of them are just plain boring, while others are locked out behind insane grind.

I agree, content is scarce, basically only 4 maps and all have huge meta events on a set timer. While I don’t have problems with it, I see players who only have 1-2 hours per day to play. If even. Also I think it’s a bad decision to point out Fractals as the new 5man content and then not adding a single one new fractal. The complete lack of new dungeons doesn’t help either. Basically, what I think is, that HOT initially was planned as seasoned content, similar what we got with LS2. Then they made the decision to make an expansion. Hope is that the next expansion will be a real one with more maps etc.

That said; it’s not all, they’ll add 1-2 new maps and add some new raid wings and new fractals. So let’s see what they’ll do the next 1-2 years.

Also, why consists the music mainly of ‘dubstep’ (not the real/original dubstep at all), the dulcet tones of a computer being lobotomized that make kids go wild? And why is this only in 99% of the GW2 videos. If I watch other games they just play the in game music, you hear voice over from Teamspeak and sound effects of the game.

You seem to be a real casual gamer. Never played Dark Souls, Metroid or Castlevania?

Yes, Yes and no. How does preference / taste in zone design alert you to a player being casual? Somehow you want to compare the difficulty and skill required in Dark Souls to grinding effective ways of traversal and finding your way through a clustered mess of a zone in GW2? It was never about it being hard, it’s about it being boring / tedious. Mkay?

Okay, sorry I misinterpreted your statement with the difficulty of the enemies. But then again, you learn the zones. TD is convoluted, yes, but after a while you can navigate most parts and you know where the events are.

About the grind. I stated this in a post earlier: 1. It’s account wide, you don’t need to repeat those materies at all after you learned it once. 2. It’s not that of a grind, or do you think leveling is a grind, too? Be cause it’s basically the same.

It takes a bit time to learn how to navigate in the new areas, but it’s not that hard. Since every crap in this game gives XP why do you need to ‘grind’? Alternate maps, do some Central Tyria and it just becomes pretty natural. After all, you do something in this game. Interpret everything as grind if you want. I don’t.

ProtoGunner.4953

I have a 100% job, play 4-5h every day and hit max mastery level (well 161, not 163 since I didn’t got to the raid) after about 1 month. It’s no different than levelling up a character. And it is even account bound.

Without this levelling people would complain there is nothing to do. Also, you really don’t need a lot in the masteries; after having ley-line gliding and mushroom jumping you’re pretty fine with it. Rest is just bonus.

Because leveling is like fundamental to the structure of an RPG game. Character development is, arguably, the entire point of it.

Masteries due a very poor job of replacing that, because the abilities they give don’t develop your character, but essentially, just give you abilities to access more content.

It becomes somewhat circular; you do the masteries to gain access to new content to gain more masteries. There is little incentive outside of that, because HoT lacks vertical item progression like the original game had from levels 1 – 80. There is very little reason to do the content outside of enjoyment of the content, because the rewards are either meaningless or superficial.

There is even less reason to do the content when the content is so small in variety and build largely are a model of grinding it repeatedly to gain currency for items that have little value.

This is your interpretation. When I got the new grapple hook in Metroid I found it very rewarding to explore new areas. I didn’t get anything shiny or rare, it was rewarding in itself to just explore more of the world. See, I am an oldschool gamer, I play games since almost 30 years. Games there wasn’t about rewards, it was about accomplishments. Also, the new maps are much more interesting than the Central Tyria maps. It’s like a pony farm if you return there after a long time in HOT. But that’s my opinion.

Yes, I know that there is a lot of afk time. But even then, you had to be there to not automatically log off after one hour.

If you are home bound there is not only one game. What about cooking, painting, collecting things, studying, reading, singing, playing an instrument, training etc. etc.

People who feel attacked directly do this often out of self-consciousness and instead of accepting to change something they blame the guy who holds the mirror. But certainly a forum of an MMO game is the wrong place to tell such things. So, I stop.

Some mobs hit too hard, true, also the stupid sniper trails on the floor which hit for around 6-7k per 2 second is far too much and you even can’t see it in bigger zergs. Don’t know why they made some enemies so horribly hard hitting.

But usually you can get along pretty easily. I think especially Auric Basin is easy to navigate, parts of TD are pretty tough, especially he mushrooms. But then again, it’s okay to have a bit more challenging content. After being in HOT for several weeks coming back to Central Tyria is like a pony farm. Ridiculously easy, no challenge at all, hence boring.

My only complaint is the short and rushed story, only 4 maps and no single dungeon or fractal. The price should have been around 40€ for people who already own he original game. That said, rest is fine. I don’t play WvW and PvP so I can’t comment on this.

I mostly miss a side bar oder additional bars for: food, tonics, birthday gun, gizmos etc. Like there is in most other MMOs.

BTW: there are achievements for every single legendary since they introduced legendary crafting – well it’s for the precursor, but it’s a whole track.

How can you get so many hours is beyond me. I just wonder: If you played half your life a game the past 3 years what else you do? I mean: work, family, friends, travel, sport, going out etc. You clearly have almost nothing of this if you clocked that many hours considering you still have to sleep for 6-8 h a day. I don’t want to moralize etc. but I don’t think this is healthy – neither physically nor psychically.

Place the vendor window with item you want to buy right below the ‘Yes’ button. Then double click the item and with a 3rd click you press yes. It’s very fast.

In Demon’s Souls/Dark Souls/Bloodborn you lose most of your progress if you die (unless you found the shortcut), and you lose all your souls – the only currency. If you would do that in GW2 the whining would be even greater.

1st stop with the argument it is the price for a full game. The usual price for full game is 60-70€.

2nd, there are a kittenload of full priced games with very little content. Single player games that last for 5-15 hours. That said a price of 50€ is not much. I already played for about 600h in HOT so I won’t complan.

3rd, people who tell the new maps are confusing hard: get a grip! Learn the area, it takes a couple of hours but it’s not like your all day face roll flat crap map anymore.
