Absolutely, I killed 2 Karkas in a row and got 2 Powerful blood, while it can easily be that I won’t get any for the next 30-50 kills. But then again I think it’s so boring and do something else or log off.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
No, I have periords where I play extensive (6-10 hours a day if I have a day off), but then I have periods where I don’t play at all. I have around 2400 hours played – friends of mine who don’t play MMOs think it’s a lot of time. And it is. But if I read the forums here it’s utterly questionnalbe. There are players here who play 10+ hours a day ON AVERAGE. This is just unhealthy and a clear addictive behaviour. Others define ‘casual players’ as players who play 2-3 hours a day. A casual player plays 2-3 a week, not a day…
At the moment I don’t play at all, I have a full time job and a girl friend, business trips, friends, holiday trips etc.

Reasons For Mounts
-Easier exploring – we already have waypoints
-Faster Travel – we already have swiftness + waypoints
-Looks Cool – matter of opinion
-Anet can make money on Mount “Skins” – they can make money off anything
-It can be balanced properly – anet doesn’t have a good track record for that
-Do not see how it hurts lore – its nonexistence doesn’t hurt lore either
-can be useful in World v World if balanced correctly – wvw maps are already too small
Pretty bad arguments. Waypoints are quite often contested – especially in Orr. And even that, swiftness isn’t really fast: it’s only 33% instead of 100% that would have a mount. Also just be cause there are waypoints, doesn’t mean mounts aren’t convenient. In FFXIV you have mounts AND waypoints. No one complains.
As already mentioned: Swiftness is only 33%, Usually mounts give you 100% speed boost, which is far superior. So, Dolyaks and other animals who could be ridden aren’t ‘lore’? OK…
It would be extremely convenient in WvW, running to the Zerg over 3/4 of the map is very annoying. I would appreicate it if I had a 100% faster travelling speed.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
No, not happy. Extremely disappointed by post-release development. I stopped playing for now and play some other popular MMO and offline (console)games. Now, I hope of course there will be an expansion or expansion-like content some time… I will come back then.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Many forget the initial question from OP. To answer it: yes the drop rate is terribly low. It’s nearly impossible to farm it the way you used to farm stuff in other games. I have magic find 200+ and get about one armored scale for killing 20-30 sharks in Southsun Cove. It is one of the big fails in this game: just run dungeons or flip the TP to earn gold and buy it off of the TP (with buy orders ofc).
‘would of been’ —> wrong
It’s not worth it. The Golem is only available 2 weeks after you use it the first time. It’s a joke.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Apparently, you have pretty bad PC specs, it looks rather terrible (no AA, low details, low rez etc.). I understand that not everyone can spend enough money to play the game in full details, but you still can set max detail for just a screenshot, just a tip :-)
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Those ‘tips’ ‘do something else’, ‘you burn through too fast’ etc. are pathetic. It’s clearly Anet’s fault to release such low profile, casual, gem store driven non-content. The examples of other MMOs in this thread were good. Even a game like The Secret World – a tiny company – manages to release a kittenload of content: new raids, dungeons, classes, races etc. Or look at the one year old FFXIV: A Realm Reborn, they have a massive huge update with so much content, it’s about 50 pages of release notes! Even the biggest fanboys have to admit now that the lack of content in GW2 is significant for industry standards and the causes are in the management. Read the glassdoor comments; almost every dev tells that.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
First off: I like the Tequatl fight, it is one of the best experiences for a huge world event and is beautifully designed. But there are a feq teweaks such events should be managed: first of all make it instanced, so there are no issues with grouping, it really sucks if you have almost no chance to land on a good map with organized groups, instead we arrive 30mins ahead and have to be either lucky or find another player (in guild, friendlist etc.) to join this map and constantly clicking join to eventually switch the map. Another thing to solve this problem: raise the capacity of players on a map.
Other than that: yes of course, make the remaining world bosses a tad harder and engaging. All the events consist on waiting and melt the HP. People only do it be cause of the rewards.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
It’s an issue since beta and they haven’t fixed it. I can imagine they will never fix it. Pathing of pets in this game is hilariously embarassingly bad.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
You forgot ‘no we don’t want to do dungeons, they are too hard to make’. Or ‘nah, no SAB, it doesn’t fit the living story’ or ‘sorry no precursor crafting, we will observer the market though’ or ‘no bigger paties/dungeons than 5, we think it’s the obtimal size for parties’ or ‘no new pvp modes/WvW improvements – we want to do it the right way and that takes time’ ’ or ‘no guild halls. If we want to implement it, we have to do it the right way’…
I am sick of this kitten. That’s why I stopped playing. I may come back if there is substantial stuff added.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Thankfully, our dear Anet was kind enough to let us solve it – if you are afraid of damage, just bring in full nomad’s gear and traits 0/0/6/6/2, CUZ DAT’S DA NEW META! ^^
To be honest, tough, I’ve never run into any trouble at the bridge, even with “casuals”.
Dude, it’s called trolling ^^
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Why you need any guide for 1-400 anyway, really…
‘would of been’ —> wrong
What exactly is the problem? I don’t get it.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Lol @making maps in 6-12 months and dungeons taking even longer. I just wonder how 99% of the other MMOs can release new raids and dungeons every couple of months.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
I played over 2k hours on a big EU server (Gandara) and ran dungeons quite regularly. I never saw any dev in open world or dungeons. But who cares, I hardly play anymore.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Yep, coming form GW1, it’s just sad. The excuses that it is long and hard and takes time blabla. I can’t take that anymore. It’s just misconception and mismanagement that led to this abomination of ‘additional content’.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Very well said, poster above me! It is time to understand that the ‘slowliness’ is a result of mismanagement. If they fiercly are against any changes in party size (no no, never more than 5 people) and reluctant to even make new dungeons (it’s too hard and takes too long, wtf?) there is something completely wrong with a company. Even small studios are able and willing to produce additional content faster.
It’s why I sadly have to leave this sinking ship. Unleass they will add something substantial. It didn’t happen after 2 years; so I doubt it will happen in another 2 years.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Even true fans-becoming-anet-emplyees Kate Welch and Martin Kerstein leaving… It seems worse than ever. I think it’s time to leave this sinking ship as well, though only as a player.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
I read a lot about GW2 prerelease and I never had the feel, they won’t build more dungeons.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Same here, playing utterly sporadically. Living Story just can’t be anything they do, it’s just for some casual diversion. I assume they will announce an expansion soon. Or what were all the big names doing the past 2 years? Ever heard any word from Eric Flannum, Ree Soesbee, Jeff Grubb or Daniel Dociu?
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Maybe with a quantum computer this would be possible, lol.
I think the reason why we have loading screens and instances is because the hardware isn’t there yet. Sure, some singleplayer games are almost fully open word (like Skyrim), but I don’t think it’s possible to do this with MMO’s at this moment.
Errr… WoW did this 10 years ago. Yes, it was seemless with ‘corridors leading to a new map usually, but at the point of Burning Crusade (2006) they made it possible with flying mounts to cross borders of different maps direclty. You could fly over the whole areas within 10 minutes! And there are other MMOs which use this technology too. They ’hide’ the unloaded areas far behind the viewing distance. With a good computer and max details you usually won’t see that.
Guild Wars has of course much more advanced graphics which makes this harder. But let’s face it: they have even problems to handle just a couple of 100 players in one map while other games have limit caps in the thousands for the huge maps (note: WoW has not even loading screens for their towns like Orgrimmar where usually a hundred an more players are around.
I assume anet decided this to reduce server costs.
It was one of my first let-downs when I first heard that GW2 won’t have seamless maps. It kills immersion. Also different times in differnet maps, different weather etc. There is a lot of work to do. Other games do this much better.
Edit: reading further in this thread I am shocked that many people don’t know that there are MMOs out there doing this. No, there are no lags, no laoding screens and the maps are usually 15 times as big as one GW2 map. Yes, graphics aren’t that good ofc. but most of those MMOs are 5-10 years older.

Fo kitten’s sake. Stop with those stupid threads! Find other kittening topics or just let the forum be as is. The developers know the fact, stop arguing each other and kittening do something else if you don’t like it as it is. A change may come eventually.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Play other games. The dungeoneering is stale here. I don’t get why so called ‘speedclear’ guilds who think they are awesome clearing 2 year old easy content a couple of seconds faster is interesting. Until anet won’t release new stuff I am just off to do somethinge else.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Finally! That was the best in old GW1. Good old PvX. I hope this will be the primary source for builds. Instead we have to find the scarce information about what is meta for every class here and there.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
There are only 8 professions and the gameplay stays the same then. It seems it’s just fun for you to create different characters. Well, each to their own.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
It is an issue with the way they programmed it. A huge big FAIL and they won’t even admit it. Other MMOs showed 10 years before how to do it. It seems a fix would be rather complicated and they gave this low priority if any at all since people still run the dungeons.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Why in god’s name would you create more than let’s say 10 characters? That’s just insane!
‘would of been’ —> wrong
I feel similar, burned out. The complaints are always the same: no substantial content. Open world content may be fun and good (I really love the Tequatl 2.0 encounter), but it’s insufficient for me. I don’t want a gear treadmill but please add more elite content like in GW1 (FoW, UW, Urgoz’s Warren, The Deep, DoA) and the lack of it drives me to stop playing. The only thing I like to do is some legendaries and the new story stuff from time to time. It’s nice to have this, but you really should consider more instanced stuff like dungeons and raids. Bosses and their tactics with complex mechanisms and doing this together with a bunch of guildies is still the best MMOs have to offer imo.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
I’ll sum up the constant, constant arguments:
- Housing -
Some do for the sake of privacy and community, and to put the “guild” back in Guild Wars 2.
Some don’t because it’s “pointless” and “vain” and isn’t “content”.- Mounts -
Them: NO NO NO NO
Other Them: But they’d be coooool~
Them: NONONONO
Other Them: But gold sinks and style and
Them: CLUTTER NONONONOOO
LOL; hilarious. Couldn’t summarize that better.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
I am not a fan of SAB, so I don’t care. But I understand that many people want it. The answer in the interview was not very clever since it has nothing to do with the story. They just could implement it for good. It’s a gimmick, a game in a game.
About the Infinite Continue Coin: well I assume you used it copiously during the time SAB was accessible. So there is no right to ask for a refund.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
I think it’s time for us, the community, to ask for more. It’s a gem store outfit. This is unacceptable. My problem is that designers knew about the horrific clips if you don’t wear a helmet and yet, they decided to go on and put it up for real money (for some players) instead of holding up a few weeks to fix the issues. I am really sad for this. I am sad not about the outfit, or any outfit, but with the whole idea of putting unfinished and badly designed things on gem store/game. I want to support them, but I will never support lazy and unfinished projects.
PS: Images are from http://dulfy.net/ and from dulfy video – GW2 Ceremonial Plated Outfit and Belinda’s Greatsword Skin : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owVa_uekeEo
Can’t see any clipping on those pictures you posted. Do you mean the hand that is inside the armor? Well, that’s in almost every game with different armor styles. Can’t see a problem here.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
A thief is no ninja and even ninjas usually used other weapons than an Odachi.¨¨
Ah, got ninja’d by Chrispy :-)
Anyway, another point: guys, characters running around with sado-maso armor and wielding an odachi just looks silly (just referring to those aweful female anorexia models you postet up there… aweful).
‘would of been’ —> wrong
(edited by ProtoGunner.4953)
Generally, I think people overact about those small clipping issues. GW is really the only community so sensitive toward clipping. You can find this in almost every game because it is very hard to fix. Anyway, I don’t even see clipping as a problem, I just ignore it and think it’s a part of games since the first games with polygons appeared.
Also the stuff like the ‘new human female walking animation’ – I watched a video and haven’t even noticed a differfence, even after watching it several times and reading a description.
Really, just stop with all the complaining and enjoy the awesome armor skins we receive from Anet.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
They showed several times that they are out of touch with the community. One example is the merging with another party bug with the LFG-tool which palyers had to point out several times (even with a video-reproducting-proof) that the bug still exists or is even here.
Another thing are the dungeon rewards: they give 1.5g for the super easy AC paths. On the other hand the super annoying HOTW2 and SE2 give 1g which take – especially the latter – substantially more time to complete (yeah I know there are some speed clears though they don’t count for the major part of the community).
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Finally a game that releases the content the REST of us want to play, instead of dungeons and raids. Since every single other MMO does release dungeons and raids, why are you still here? Why not go play those games and leave ONE MMO for the rest of us.
I’d much MUCH rather have open world content than dungeons and raids.
Also that’s your opinion
Be cause I care about the franchise. There are a lot of things I like in this game. A lot of people ask for more content for the dedicated player. I think it is fine to have open world content. But the balance here is completely out of place: we have almost nothing added in dungeons.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
This whole interview is a joke. They build a wall around themselves where they won’t and can’t say anything about the future of this game. Why is this company so reluctant towards information about their future content and releases? Their are a lot people working there, so I really wonder what the rest of their 300 people are doing
‘would of been’ —> wrong
This game is really the only MMO I know that doesn’t release substantial content for the more dedicated player, i. e. no additional dungeons or raids. Yes, we got fractals – that was a good start, but then? Nothing. Almost every other MMO releases a lot of new dungeons and raids. We just get nothing, and I feel the urge to change the game just be cause of that: there is just simply nothing to do after world completion and the dungeon title which I got after a couple of months after release.
Other MMOs let you know months before what they will implement and then release it. GW2 won’t tell you months ahead what they want do and if they did it, they haven’t delivered it. Something is just completely wrong with this company. I am a bit sad, since GW2 (and GW) is/was my most played MMO franchise so far and I wish this will remain for the future.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
The FGS skill 4 is way overpowered. It’s true that survivability was substantially harder than with almolst every other class – at least I have my hard time as berserker ele. The rest: i wait for descripton what they will change exactly (or did i miss leaked information?).
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Content wise? Not as near as much you would expect from an MMO. It’s a couple of additional sub-mini-dungeons in fractals and one additional map.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Not only for Guardian: make all utilities have half or quarter the duration of their cooldowns, make effects meaningful. I just dislike the ridiculous short effects of 1-2 seconds with 60s (!) CDs.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
The cooldowns on the shield are FAR too long (even traited) and the effects FAR too unimpactful. Why they don’t change it, they must know that 99.9% of guardians run around with the focus instead of shield or torch.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
I am shocked by the playtimes and time invested (wtf: 10+ hours PER DAY since launch of the game? what the kitten you doing in you life?).
I felt burned out when i achieved dungeon master about 1.5 years ago. The game lacks content. You can tell about WoW what you want, but at least they add dungeons and raids every couple of months. I think I go back to WoW a bit and hope Anet adds something substantial to this game. Otherweise there are still a lot of good games out there to play.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
It was pretty normal in GW1 to skip mobs. It’s a part of the mechanic. Only be cause you had to kill most mobs in WoW in dungeons, you don’t have to do it in other games (although I admit you have to do it in most MMO – that are – we all know it trying to copy the then successful concept).
I am always shocked how biased and used people are. Humans are creatures of habit and if they are used to something they think: ‘it has to be like this’.
Stacking, skipping (which was often challengin in GW1 and pretty fun [remember the infamous Droknar’s Run]) was pretty normal in GW1 and no one complained.
They could actually alter the loot table and make them drop significant higher quality. It would give us an incentive to kill them, but it seems they aren’t willing to do that. On the other hand do not forget tha dungeons in GW2 are completely stale. They haven’t changed, they have still no dungeon team. They would do it differenltly now as we can see with the temporary dungeons like the Molten Weapon Facilities from flame and frost and the aetherdungeon later on (yea they are still in Fractals – unfortunately…)
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Haven’t done the story achievements until now. Aside from this, it takes maybe 2-3 hours of gameplay for a story update (I take my time and read all the conversations). Then a bit farming in Dry Top and and doing the Zone achievements a couple of hours. so about maybe 4-6 hours per update?
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Additionally to all the complaints, make a template system. You had it in GW1. Before the itroduction of the free trait reset I was thinkgin: yeah, they surely will do a template saving sytem, then I though, ‘well, it’s GW2. They know how to kitten up things’. And tadaaaa. Now if I want to change my build, I have to remember my exact build.
It’s just so simple to make a template sytem… Do it!

The 1st birthday gifts were very underwhelming. I ended up with 9 Queen Jennahs etc. What were they thinking? After the good feedback from GW1 where you got a chance of many different minis, why did they change this?
I hope they will alter the rewards this time around.
