You pay 40s for a 400 profession, so it’s 10% per craftinglevel. This means, you pay 10s if you are crafting level 100 etc. At least I think it’s like this.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
There are three points which makes damask so much more expensive:
- you need 3 silk scraps instead of 2 to create one bolt of silk
- you need 100 instead of 50 (like deldrimor steel ingot/elonian leather square) to create one bolt of damask
- you need it for the inscription which is used by heavy, medium and light armor additionaly to the light armor
Three factors are too much. It’s not in reasonable boundaries and it has been only done be cause silk had no use and hence the TP had a kittenload of it and they wanted to remove this excess supply in the first place. It’s a silly solution and terribly executed and only damages the player. That’s just bad design and not well though through like a lot of stuff Arenanet does.

I thought you can’t see player’s names in WvW? How can they whisper you?

I don’t understand why they didn’t let the two dungeons they added – Aether Retreat and Molten Factory as stand alone dungeons. They were well received by players and it is a shame that we only can access stripped-down versions in fractals which I don’t have touched for more than a year.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Where many other MMOs shine – seamless world without those rather tiny zones (and strong player limits), weather effects a day/nicht cycle with moon and sun etc. really would help the immersion of this game. It’s lacking a lot of immersion. That Black Desert korea grinder has a lot of immersion, it’s quite impressive, similar to Skyrim. It would be nice if we see more immersion in GW2.

Granted, the reward from JPs are terrible. I never got anything but useless crap: mostly Masterwork Crests – WTF?!?

A huge diffrerence to other MMOs is that you can choose your gear stats. In other MMOs your stats are set in stone and you have to maximize certain stats – at least in a certain role of a class. You don’t choose to be either more defensive or offensive within a certain role. The role is set in stone and so are the stats.
Now since we can choose in GW2, people will of course choose what does the most damage.
It was certainly not the idea that most dungeon parties will run Berseker gear and stack in a corner and kill the boss within 5 or 10 seconds circumventing all the mechanics (i. e. Kohler who isn’t even able to use his spin attack).
‘would of been’ —> wrong
well i cant decide still on what profession i want to actually play, they all have their own fun and one hasnt really stuck out to me as “the one.” Warr, Ranger, and mes are the front runners working on getting each one worked up to the first dungeon.
i started on weaponsmithing and leatherworking (they seem not to use the same materials too often). they are both only around level 40-50.
i did do a lil bit of cooking but the few items i made are soulbound and cant transfer to other alts, so i didnt look much into it.
ill check out the crafting guide sites thanks!
Maybe you don’t know this: you can change professions/crafting discipline how’s it called in GW2 anytime without losing progress. You have to pay a fee for it though. But at the end you can have any crafting discipline you want.

Raid makes no sense imho, in a game without a solid PvE mechanic (just look at the dungeons, how those works).
It’s just about one thing, skip this, glitch that, bug those, stack there. I don’t see any real PvE behind it….
Just my 2 cents though….
Stop comparing the same old dungeons from original game. They showed with all content after the initial release that they can implement interesting mechanics.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
I don’t know but if you position yourself right and know when to dodge you shouldn’t be stunlocked all the time… I think one thing is that you should use ranged tactics, it’s much more safe. You always can change your traits and go for ranged, you know…

First: stand next to the locations of the spawn, for bosses you need to kill. It may take a while, but I managed to do this achievement in about a week, just take your time.
I just wonder about one fact: they didn’t die ‘within seconds’. Usually it took about 5 minutes to kill the legendary boss. So if someone told in mapchat there’s a legendary up, I had easily enough time to get to the boss and kill him. So, it seems you were in an extremely crowded map? On the other hand I found myself in crowded maps, too and still had enough time to wayponit and run to a boss (even died once and waypointed and ran to a boss!).

Just let us customize ourselves. There are numerous examples out there. I just wish to have an advanced option to do this. Either a side bar of X amount of fields or a toolbar near the skills, whatever you like. I would use around 5-6 slots, but of course there are people who need much more like 10-20 slots. It really is something we should be able to customize. I made this suggestion about 1-2 years ago and saw it several times pop up. Please do it!
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Well, I sometimes have a harsh tone and the Anet forum is one of the most restrictive I have ever seen. Anyway that’s another topic… Just don’t give infraction points for every ridiculous joking reason… just use the Bungie Forum as an example ;-)
Now, how long does this last? It’s like now 2 weeks and I never had an infraction point since then.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Depends on game mode. I only play PvE (WvW occasionly but don’t care much about changing skills).
I laugh always about all the bearbows: so many rangers run around with LB and brownbear. It’s ridiculous and a horrible choice to kill enemies in open world. They have one niche usage: killing champs solo. Very easy doing and cozy.
I myself use 90%: Jaguar and Jungle Stalker, be cause the damage is so so so so so so much higher than any BEAR. Sometimes a Drake, since they are pretty tanky and have still ok’ish damage.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Bear has its uses in soloing easy way. I use it to kill a Veteran Karka or doing the Facet of Strenght achievement in the Glint’s Lair solo intstance.
But that’s it, I normally run Jaguar and Jungle Stalker/A Drake.

So short, that you really can’t afford a couple of dollars/euros before your payday? I feel sorry for you… but it should last longer than this weekend, so you still can get your stuff.
I really hope they deduct some of the following stuff:
- keys
- crafting license
- minis
- finishers
- bank tab/bank expansion (yeah I know they were on sale 2 days ago)

Haven’t done it, my last Arah run was a year or more ago and there most pug groups just ranged him which took usually almost 10 minutes. I would do it of course. Doing the same boss over and over is not really fun.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Absolutely, never understood why they didn’t implement it. It’s fairly standard in every MMO. Maybe Anet likes non cluttered UIs, but at least let us customize it… Side tool bars for Toys, Consumables, Tonics etc. would be a bliss! It’s horrible to open the kitten ‘i’-menu all the time to use items like the Birthday Cannon.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
My general issue is that since the megaserves I can’t do any of those events anymore. Only by luck I get the chance for such an event. I still wait for Grenth to appear to unlock my last trait for my ranger. My only source for this is if a guild mate is there and tells us about it. It shouldn’t work like this…
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Certainly, the Ranger with his soloplay and strong Longbow skills does trivialize the game a bit. At least I could do the mordrem thresher achievement (with the wolves who kill Marjory’s minions) comparatively easily. Especially skill 4 is a bliss, nice knockback. Yeah I know I don’t use that skill in group play, most hated one in the game, isn’kitten-)
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Certainly there are Tanks in GW1, but there is no aggro meter nor is it possible to increase aggro intentionally. Instead the tank had to use other mechanics to bodyblock or he simply was the only one in the aggro bubble (yeah forgot that, eh?). Here is an interesting article how tanking in GW1 works:
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Tank
But yes, it was also viable to have just a ‘flesh wall’ as minions or pets. Remember the first Urgoz’s Warren team build full of Rangers with their pets and Barrage? Good times (especially when we realized using Splinter Weapon is awesome!)
‘would of been’ —> wrong
I didn’t notice such a thing. Did those achievements a couple of days ago and everything went smoothly. The mine thing is very easy. During the last part my party got wasted by the sheer amount of mordrem, but I survived and I still get the achievement. Maybe the ‘survival’ of the party didn’t matter at this point.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
There is not only black and white, instead there are many different shades of grey. This means: no, of course you can’t satisfy EVERY single customer, but you could satisfy more customers that now. I think – aside from some super loyal fans – most customers wish more substantial content. And this is not wishful thinking: it’s the industry standard. Just check other MMOs, they release constalty a lot of new content, a lot more than the first two years of GW2.
My guess is that a lot of resources are wasted due to mismanagement. But that’s another topic. We now have to look for the future. It seems they are now on the right way and I really hope there is an expansion or expansion-like release in the near future. Otherwise I can’t see how they want to survive with those small story snippets which every other MMO releases, too.

Threw about 1000g of exotic staves into the forge and got nothing. I also threw rare staves into the forge for a couple of months, never got anything. I also threw about 200g of greatswords into the forge to get nothing.
I ended up that I wont make the staff and bought 4 precursors until now. I never had any precursor drops in my 2.5k hours playtime.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
They castrated the game long ago. And now they are skinning it alive. Leveling is kittening slow now because they are artifically slowing down your progression to enhance the playtime without adding new major content. And you cant even properly level your character up with crafting because they nerfed the experience you can get from it. Pre NPE it was possible to level up your character only with crafting. Now you wont be even close to max level even if you finished all crafting professions.
I stopped recommending the game after LS season 1. Now Im warning people to play this game. This is actually one of the biggest fraud on the internet. Everything they promised at the release of the game seems to be forgotten.
Nomen est omen – your name from a German figure of speech fits your post :-)
Really, don’t exaggerate it. It’s neither the ‘biggest fraud on the internet’ nor ‘everything promised is forgotten’. It’s of course questionnable and no one asked for this change. Luckily, I have all classes on max level (though tried to level to see the NPE with a Engineer – horrible!).
Best would be to revert it and please change the trait unlocking – it’s an abysmal idea to lock that behind timed and sometimes grouped content. It leaves two options: a) either you wait at the place until a certain event starts or MAY start (I once waited 40mins to see nothing) or b) you just wait until you can unlock the trait by luck. It’s terrible design. I really don’t know what the people behind this were thinking.

You can’t serve anyone. It’s not possilbe. Imagine you had to make the game for people who are blind… It’s not possible. For non-handicapped players who think it’s too hard: learn the moves, try different approaches.
It really hurts me that the ‘Nintendo’-generation is getting old and all the younger players only know FarmVille, Call of Duty and Assassin’s Creed. Games usually had challenge, it was hard. Half of my old Nintendo games (back in 80ies/90ies) couldn’t be finished or only by super skilled players. Sure that is not the goal, but let us have at least some challenge. For me – even the ‘Challenge Mode’ Teragriff was super easy.
Oh, I really am excited about the release of ‘Bloodborne’ on PS4 next year :-)

And for me this is where that last sardine flipped the wagon.
Opposite to Gaile, i do not appreciate the point of view stated and the supportive comments, when those supportive comments do not truly reflect the state of the game.
Lets not discuss the merits of the game because we all know what the strong points are, and lets not discuss the demerits of the game because there are people happily playing the game and the rest are just forum warriors?? I mean, what is going on with GW2 that we can discuss?
I, personally, don’t want to discuss the current content that GW2 has to offer, because for me that is not a reason to pick up this game again. And, following the stated point of view, because i don’t play it anymore but i keep coming here hoping that finally i get a reason to do so, i find out that i cant discuss it because im not happy with the game.
Let me tell you something i do know. I do know when i log in that “other” mmorpg i instantly start missing GW2, but as i keep playing it i become aware why that “other” mmorpg rules this genre with no visible opposition.
While Anet excels in many other areas of development, the other developer excels in delivering content that grasps all corners of this genre, and does so openly and with a main goal: to give players what they want.
These guys are just masters of delivering content in all forms: pvp, pve, mini games, collectibles, lore, classes, professions, they just keep adding, adding, adding, until everything is covered, until everyone as a reason to log in , may not leave everyone happy, but will leave most players happy, some not very happy but with a reason to play, and others unhappy but still with a reason to play, and the occasional leavers.
Here, i just see, mounts no, GH we dont know, GvG we dont know (kudos for chris for the CDIs, gives me a bit of hope), cross professions skills no, Cantha no yes no, etc etc
I truly believe that ANet lacks in these 2 points, and i believe that improving on those 2 points would bring GW2 to where it belongs on top of this genre with the big guy.
I have played many AAA tittle, as many of my fellow “forum warriors” , and i know theres no other tittle out there that can match the impressive graphic quality, sound score and game mechanics of GW2, but its severely lacking on open communication with player base and therefor the inability to fast deliver content by ANet is constantly shaded by this lack of communication, because i dont know if its lack of money for development, lack of freedom for continuous development, lack of time, i mean, i do not know anything.
I do know this: if Mike O´Brien posted in the forums today saying that ANet is currently on low budget for development because the project took more resources than expected, and asking players what they think of a crowd funding project to speed and deliver content to GW2, i would be on top of that list to donate something from my pocket. Save this for future references.
My name is Alves, from Portugal, and i am a forum warrior, because i care for this game.
You, Sir, deserve an award! It’s what I feel, others deliver.
Gaile,
Don’t let the obsessives and forum warriors get you down. There are millions of people enjoying the game and playing. Happy players are playing, not posting.
Well, I’m posting as a counterpoint (probably lost in the rancor) to the incessantly unhappy. Nothing ANet does will satisfy the hardcore dissatisfied.
I’d love to know what’s coming. I understand why you don’t tell us. People have unrealistic expectations of software companies that they do not apply to car makers, TV shows, authors, construction, or other industries. No one (almost) demands Ford have a public detailed five-year plan, or that an architect make detailed plans available to everyone who might someday walk into the new building.
This is the internet; rationality is in short supply.
ANet is one of the most responsive game developers I know, and I’ve been an avid/active player/dev since the days of Wolfenstein 3D (yes, I’m in my 50s). Guild Wars 2 is a game, free-to-play after initial purchase, and it’s great for most of your players (at least the ones I know personally).
Thank you for being communicative.
Let’s put it another way: Were I young, whole, and on the West Coast, I’d be thrilled to work on GW2. No, not a job hunt, I’m happily employed in another industry. But I do appreciate what you do.
Dude, it’s not unrealistic to create an expansion full of new areas, races, lore etc. It is done by a dozen of MMOs every 2 years… Why comes this argument all the time? Maybe Anet HAS certain approach to develop games – that may be possible – which takes a lot more time/recourses, but it’s certainly not the industry standard.

I usually ran about 1-2 hours in this map with small breaks and never saw a DR. What do you do? Run around for 3-5 hours constantly?
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Er… did it yesterday and it’s super easy if you have the necessary DPS. Shouldn’t take longer than 20-30s to kill the foes. If you talked to Magister Lindsay it will start, run out the cave an go to the tower, kill the enemies there and talk to the 3 guys (one is up the watchtower). Run down to the small creek to kill the mordrem and talk to the Tengu, then up to the other cave entrance where the two other stand, they usually don’t even get attacked. Now, the only one left is the one down in the creek – he already killed his only enemy and I only had to talk to him – I immediately got the achievement. Here is a map with all the NCPs. I did it solo, the event will scale if you are more players btw…
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Did it the 1st try on Challenge Mode. You have to Kite and walk with the boss in he field of view (similar to a boss fight in Zelda with Z-targetting, if you know that). You have to watch 2-3 things simultanously though. It is not too hard and very fun – if they continue with this kind of achievements → nice!
Edit: I mean I also did the No Teragriff attack achievement during the challenge mode.

(edited by ProtoGunner.4953)
I really wonder, what the..? You don’t even need to learn the mechanics of the boss. It’s so super simple, he just runs around and you have to kite. Just don’t stand in rec cirtles and use ranged weapons – makes it a lot easier.
Those people should play Dark Souls lol.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
With a litte bit of experience and watching the floor for fields and others, this boss should been defeatable by most players. I really don’t understand what was supplosed to be hard here, there were harder encounters before. I even soloed all the achievements on Challenge Mode, but then yeah I have a lot of experience with single player Action console games like God of War or Devil May Cry. Maybe if someone only plays Candy Crush and Angry Birds doesn’t understand (no offence, but just as a matter of fact).
‘would of been’ —> wrong
They really should fix that. Other games have much much bigger areas (not zones a whole continent) with about 10 to 30 times the people on the same map and don’t have any lags.
Luckily, myself didn’t have any trouble with the Wurm nor Teq lately.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
They really should buff the shield. I mainly play guardian and the shield is horrible. It’s strange they haven’t touched it. The cooldowns are extremely long for the ridiculous effects those things have. We’ll see if they buff it anytime soon.

Maybe one non human female asian looking character would do something good to you :-)
I expect to hear something soon, as mentioned already by NCSoft. Just let’s hope that it will be Cantha and we have to fight Sbubbles/Bubbles/Deep Sea Dragon/DSD. I think the plan was first to release in China, it is a huge market and very important which I understand. We all crave for something new, new lands, professions, etc. Or what do you think do the rest of the 350 man team at Anet?
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Just let’s find some middle ground. I mainly run with my guild, we usually don’t run ‘meta’ but stick rather close to it – well I do, since I don’t knwo that the rest does (I won’t complain with GS mesmers and Staff Guards though). But most have Zerker gear and run more or less enough fast builds. We never have too long and there is never any discussion about builds or whatever. CoE etc. takes 15mins, which is fine. We usually stack, I never had any thoughts about it if there wasn’t the forums. We did it in GW1 and do it here. It’s different from other MMOs.
Oh btw in newer content stacking isn’t possible in most encounters. The dungeons are ‘ancient’. The only problem is there are not any new dungeons.

Some things have improved:
- they don’t take damage from large AoE fields like the once from the Golem Mark II. Though they still take damage from the new Mordrem enemies killing even tanky pets withing a couple of seconds. So they need to do something there. Just make them invulnerable to all AoE in PvE…
- Pet executes F2 pretty immediately. Much better than before. In normal PvE it’s okay with the pet.

Sure! Let’s have flying kittening mounts so every aspect of dungeons, map completion, jumping puzzles, explorer related achievements, mini dungeons, and WvW can be completely broken!
Actually, that’s a kittening terrible idea.
Oh come on please! You should know from other MMOs that they will turn off the mounts for such activities… bad argument like most counterarguments in this thread. It really seems that most people simply have never played a game with mounts…
