The ridiculous imbalance between T7 mats

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ProtoGunner.4953

ProtoGunner.4953

Silk drops ridiculously fast if you simply salvage everything and not vendor. If you are complaining about not having enough you either need to:
1. Salvage stuff or
2. Not sell silk on the tp then complain you have none.

Problem solved.

No, my personal experience is as follows: after weeks of doing events etc and salvaging everything you end up with a 1500 – 2000 silk. This nets you a ridiculous 5-6 damask. This is mostly enough to create 1-2 armor items (depending on armor class/armor location).

The problem is trifold:

- You need 3 silk scraps for one bolt and you need 100 silk bolts for one damask (compared to 2×50 for the other t7 mats)
- You need damask much more than any other crafting material of the same type which makes the demand even higher – alone his fact makes the reason to raise it to 300 silk per t7 unnecessary and stupid
- That not enough, you need this kittening damask also for the highly demanded special back items

So in my opinion, the initial problem was, that silk was extremely common and the TP nearly exploded from the sheer amount of it. While the same problem with t5 leather exists, I don’t know why they only did it with silk or – the other way around – why they just let silk be to 50 per damask.

Chasing the dream of ‘high end’ content it seems. As long as we don’t get raids and hard modes – at least for 10 people though everything more than the same old 5 people parties is okay – Fractals is the only part of gameplay in this AAA that is remotely challenging witch crappy rewards.

While I like this game, they offer really nothing compared to the concurrence of games out there in this sector.

I would forget that nerd stuff and just buy one pre-made gamer PC with a rather good graphics card (gtx970) and a good amount of ram (16gb) with not all too cheap stuff. It’s really easy to get good ones where I live (Europe), don’t buy alienware kitten and this stuff, it’s overpriced.

I wouldn’t waste time on buying your components each. Usually there are shops online where you can buy complete systems with good specs which end up being cheaper than the single parts.

Reflecting on past and future expectations

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ProtoGunner.4953

ProtoGunner.4953

Well, I followed the development of the game since its announcement back in 2007. I expected the following: zones are interconnected and don’t have portals, bigger instanced group content (constantly added dungeons and raids). I always hoped for that and even after launch I still hoped there will be more than just the same old 5man dungeons. But until now it is still not possible to create bigger parties than just 5 which is imo ridiculous.

Of course I was first impressed and I found even the simplest ‘bring dolyak form a to b’ event exciting during beta. It got boring during levelling. I then expected more dungeons and instanced content and was satisfied by the Halloween event and the Fractals with new tier of gear – yeah finally something to do. But after that there was not much for a long time. No substantial content. So I hope for now they add more instanced content though they seem very evasive with this quoting it “challenging group” content but don’t mention dungeons or raids as a major feature of the game… It’s okay, I will buy HoT of course since I like the game, but I fear that there will be only the same old open world stuff with some collection stuff etc.

I am in a huge guild an we had horrible 2 other players in CoE the other day; one was a non damage dealing mesmer who used portals during fights with the argument that those are fields (which they aren’t). Then the same guy came with a necro the next path doing no damage at all. The other player was a bearbow. Damage was so low we wiped a couple of times and the other guys told us we shouldn’t go zerker be cause we die too fast :-) I told them we are running this within a 1/3 of the time usually with zerker players and we don’t wipe.

One of those players had over 16k AP… which again tells us, doesn’t mean AP = experienced

But generally, I hate bearbows the most: it’s the epitome of cluelessnes and desinterest in the slightest. The sheer amount – the probability of meeting a ranger is about 70% being a bearbow – is just overwhelming!

Um, you were probably the cause with your “support” guardian why the group didn’t kill the molten charr within the first reflection wall, which is likely what wipes a group.

This is literally the the one fight in the game where the longer you take to kill a boss the harder/more unforgiving the fight gets.

The real support in this game is boosting your team’s DPS and reflecting/aegis the crap that kills them. They don’t need you to tank. They don’t need you to heal. They just need you to kill that crap asap and give them enough blocks/reflects to get that burst uninterrupted with 25 might stacks and fury.

Stop thinking there are roles other than DPS in this game. The way it functions is you maximize offense and bring the bare minimum of support required so that nobody dies.

This should be a disclaimer before entering a ‘zerker meta’ party. Well said, mate, well said.

New Legendaries?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: ProtoGunner.4953

ProtoGunner.4953

My guess is they will do a completely different approach than the existing legendaries. Think about similar to the new collections we have – let’s take Luminescense Armor or Mawdray II. It won’t be possible to sell the precursor, everything is account bound. I think the community wants legendaries you know someone worked on it and completed certain (hard) tasks instead of just buying it or its materials. That was just lame and it seems – like many other things – poorly implemented in order to finally release the game back in 2012.

Zerker Warrior/Ranger/Thief. That’s what I play(ed). Never had any issues. Always have a set for ranged and one for melee but as an engineer you won’t have that problem anyways.

I am only concerned about the carapace boots and hands; they NEVER dropped. I usually do the SW loop about 2-3 times (collecting the luminescent armor), and I opened several hundred chests usually with 450% magic find and never got one of those two, I had once the carapace coat box after killing Vinewrath. So, is it just super bad RNG luck? Others say, they usually have 2-3 leggings/hands in one chest run (20-40 boxes).

I wondered that as well, especially concerning the mesmer. Logically, I came to the conclusion that a mesmer not only will get an offhand shield. Don’t forget that this is the new subclass, so only a shield would be strange. So either you can use one of the mesmer’s existing main hand weapons or they will give the mesmer subclass a new main hand like pistol, which is my guess. Anet are smart enough not to enrage the mesmer community and give them only the ridiculous amount of two new weapon skills. A third option would be more varieties in the new subclass’ utility skill set.

This is about general PvE experience, not meta party, rather personal guild experiences with rather speedy runs (usually Zerker blabla):

There are best and worst of course. And there are personal preferences. As one who plays all classes and one who doesn’t like to have too much work to be effective it comes down to this:

Good with less effort: Warrior, Ranger, Guardian
Good with a lot of effort: Elementalist, Engineer, Thief
Average with less effort: Necro, Mesmer

That said: Necro is the only group player who does not too much to help the party. The damage though is not too bad if you are geared well and know how to use it. The mesmer and thief have good utility and can be great in certain situations. If you are a great Engineer, you can pull off a lot of the thief’s utility though.

That ‘I was the last in group to kill the boss and everyone else was dead’ is the most biased experience those PVT/Nomad whatever players can have: be cause the group consists of 2-3 weak PVT/Nomad players the zerkers will die since the damage is not enough to kill the boss quickly. A friend and me had a guild run in CoE the other day and exactly that what happened: 3 of the group did next to no damage and we constantly died be cause it took so long to kill the bosses. It was horrible. Luckily, the next run was with other zerkers and it was about 10 times faster…
