Look. Here are the facts:
1, The balance that we have been told about was expressively stated as being during the first feature patch. – Karl and ready up crew
2, March 18th will not be the feature patch but a maintenence build – Grouch and Allie
3, The feature patch is due in “late spring/early summer” – colin johanson.It really isn’t complicated.
When was the last pvp update? Put some perspective on how this information is being received.
You will not get an answer because before a dev can write up a response they will be unfairly bashed by the rabid sPvP community who think they are entitled to promises being fulfilled that were never promised, resulting in a closed thread.
The pvp community is rabid because of the lack of pvp content/updates.
Comparing WoW to GW2 in the context I did, does not make me a bad apple.

PTR in this case doesn’t actually do anything beneficial, all it does is act as a preview for stuff.

WoW has been around for nearly 10 years. You’re basically comparing an infant to a 10 year old and saying that the infant should be able to beat up the 10 year old.
Hardly. You’re in the same field as them, you don’t get to continually make the mistakes they MADE in the past. You should have learned from theirs. Not to mention, I can compare the game to RIFT. When Rift was released, it had the same features and then some of WoW. They released with features that WoW currently had, at the time of their release. The one exception, being Arenas. So no, your analogy is quite poor.

I still see NO MENTION anywhere in there of the balance changes that have been discussed (they are so minor it’s absurd).
Calling the NEXT PHASE of pvp rewards the feature build still does not address the balance issues.
Could someone point me to where we have said that the March 18th build is the feature build? I’m trying to understand where the idea is coming from and why it has gotten to this point. I was out for 3 months so maybe I missed something.
You actually didn’t Allie. But you also didn’t specifically say it WASNT on March 18th and that was where the confusion came from. Josh came on earlier and cleared this up for us. You’ve actually said very little about the feature patch, which is part of the problem.
Now, the second you called it a “maintenance” patch, I personally knew not to expect anything else on March 18th. But a lot of people thought otherwise. And in your FAQ, you did not address this clearly, leading to more confusion. I would recommend editing your post and releasing your own announcement clarifying this issue.

It’s not only that, it’s also that pvp hasn’t been touched in months. So when the March 18th date was announced and repeated on the streams when discussing balance, everyone began to assume that at the very least the 18th patch would have those minor changes they discussed.
In this particular case, the feature build includes the next major step of PvP rewards. The maintenance build only includes the change to glory that will support the next phase.
And the balance updates? Please clarify, this seems to be where the confusion lies.

I would be more worried about the fact there’s no way to measure skill in this game rather than talking about “bad matchmaking”.
He literally just started ranked play. The starting MMR is too high. This has already been proven time and time again.
Does rank mean anything? Absolutely not.
Is match making jacked to all hell? Yes
Is the population so low that pinpointing the problem as being related solely to MMR nearly impossible? You bet.

On one hand, you say you are doing CDI’s to get the players involved in helping develop areas of the game. On the other hand we still haven’t seen patch notes nor do we have a PTR to test potential changes to give feedback on. Such mixed messages…
Don’t get your hopes up. The only role a staff ele is filling is support/bunker. You’re not going to see an increase in efficacy with your burst ele. New role? Staff can already will that role.

the more i read the more i think ppl doesn’t know what they are talking about. a lot of arguing but noone made the point. The problem is not AR trait, this is a problem in the game mechanic like ele diamond skin or warrior berserker stance so engi doesn’tt differ from other’s builds, nor the survival traits the profession can deploy in a fight. It’s about the CC SPAM and only. You can’t litterally stand on thie point if you’r not a clas with Stability and even if you got it the stability cooldown cannot match the CC spam colldown. No animation on cc spam, so pls, avoid the kitten sentence “you only have to dodge it right”. You cannot damage em at all if you want to stay on the point cause you stay perma-knocked-back, you eat the ground all the time. So you have to get out of the circle and damage from distance but doesn’t help at all cause you give him the point. It’s only, i repeat, only about cc spam, give cc spam to any other class let it go to bunker build and you have onother necro decapper, onother ranger decapper and so on. If you want to nerf this build increase the Cooldown of Shield number 4 skill, rifle number 4 and flamethrower 3 and give ’em a clear animation. The bomb can be easly dodged at least.
I think people know what they are talking about. I just do not think you understand what the real problem is. So you want to utterly rip apart the engineers abilities because it takes two people to take a node?
In the past engis only had one role for a team and that was to roam. Unfortunately that is not the best class at it. Now that engis adapted to all the the crappy AI, and warrior meta you want us to get nerfed? Are you serious? Cant we be the be the best option for something for once?

Spotted! Decap engi user. It’s all about counter, there’s no counter to that build and to the role he plays. I’m not saying the engy must not have a role but there must be a counter to that role and many in this discussion have proved it without counting the ones who paly it. I play it, i’m not good at it but i say it needs a nerf. Now what i stated in the post before is that all suggestions have been proposed are not the point but to counter, again, it you have to do something about cc spam. Having 1 weapon and a kit giving knockback with 15sec of CD wthout counting the more utilities and kit wich gives other knockback is op and with no counter. Bunkering can be done and is a game mechanic but this is something different.
And what do you main sir? Warrior, Thief, Guard, Ranger, Necro? All those professions have some pretty cheesy builds that are used in sPvP.
I main engi and guard. I like to roam and bunker. It has taken me a long time as a player to develop an effective way to bunker on my engi. All the nerfs that were handed to the roamer engi paired with all the buffs to other classes made the engi much less effective as a roamer. So, instead of complaining about it I adapted.
I get it trust me. Fighting a decap engi is very frustrating. So is getting feared of a node and having your health drained to zero at the same time. I encounter decap engi all the time when I am trying to bunker on my Guard, but instead of crying nerf I counter. You saying that you can not counter them is wrong. This is build wars after all. Perhaps you have a build that does not do well vs. decap engi.
Have you ever played engi? If not play engi for a few days and notice how easy it is to see what an engi is doing. Most of the engi’s abilities are easily noticeable and if you time your skills right the fight for a node will be a wash.
There are plenty of counters for this build. Perhaps your just trying to win an argument and not really listening. Sure I can decap as an engi on this build. So can necros, guards etc. That is not enough of a reason to nerf a profession.
If your just coming on here to complain because decap engis are frusterating to fight, I understand. However, please do not say that there is no counter for a decap engi, that just looks bad.
Decap falls right in line with the current meta. The low risk/high reward abomination or the “cheese” meta as I like to call it.
I have never played an MMO/RPG where the majority of the pvp players felt the same regarding the current state and maintenance of the game. Usually there is a split of opinion, but not here.
I also feel terrible for some of the A-net employees who are the ones who take it on the chin, from us, when they are not the ones making the decisions which set in motion the direction of the game.
I didn’t see anywhere what will happen to unspent glory. Will it disappear or converted to gold?

Not sad no. It feels a lot better; more fluid, more natural, no hidden rules. We will just have to pay a close attention to what happens and make any adjustments where necessary. It was an essential step towards a better future experience for players.
And by close attention you mean the player base identifying in the 5 minutes after the actual notes are released and it taking you guys 6 months to a year to address it.

Ports with targets didn’t work, though I didn’t test the guardian port. Will do it later, but as of last night all the ports from thief or targeted ports (with a target selected) just ported to the target with one hit. It did not hit 38 plus times that it would otherwise.

If you need to use a conjure weapon, be it the greatsword or the ice bow, what class should use the other one? Assuming they using meta / competitive builds.
Thief and Ele has the most damage modifiers, so i think they are the top 2 (and thief got a built in teleport for FGS), how about the others?
To one shot with FGS, Thief or Mesmer work well as well as the frost bow.
Dont nerf it the wrong way. Dont take away from every other engi build that uses those utilities. The issue isn’t with boon rip the issue isn’t with cc or immob… the problem is 100 percent automated response.
A request like this would suggest they should nerf AR to uselessness without giving engis any better anti-condition tools, relegating yet another character of mine to the scrap heap. (And no, I don’t play decap.)
Thousands and thousands of people will have fun builds destroyed because of a tiny number of high-caliber PvP players whose games have little if anything to do with how 99% of GW2 plays.
It’s these type of builds that ruin the gameplay of 99% of the player base. It isn’t about a small percentage of competitors complaining about a build.

Nothing is going to be done for the upcoming patch. They already have a full list of items to implement and he is just now writing the team about it. So, next feature patch in June we will have something I’m sure.
When a ranger die there is like 10-15 sec till respawn, and when he does his pet spawns for 1 second on the very place it was right before the death of the owner, then blinks away asap. Problem is if there is AoE on the ground like traps/well ect. its being triggered by the phantom pet. Not cool at all :P

No, there isn’t anything to spend the glory on. So for the last year and a half all of what I gained from spvp is worthless. How about adding some more pvp only items that cost glory and only glory before they do away with it. Or add a convergence of glory to rank points or the new currency (if it is gold, then let it be gold). Do the same with the pvp salvage materials, as they are currently they aren’t worth anything.

They’re revamping the reward system, should be happy about that. I rather not have Anet spend their limited resources on creating glory stuff to purchase, well you could have just converted them to glory like most people did with wintersday gifts.

What about pvp legendaries? For a year and a half that we’ve done exclusively spvp, if/when they introduce them we’re going to be starting from the beginning? How does that even make sense. A year and a half worth of progression goes down the tubes.

Every match starts out the same: “Pushing far, do not come and help me. It will take at least 2 or 3 to kill me” “You should easily win home and defend middle” Not kidding, like EVERY match.

Spend your glory-On what? Chests to get more gear that you already have and now have to salvage for materials?
Mystery Coffers Going Away-OK? Spend glory on these coffers to again get gear that you already have (opened hundreds of these and have gotten exactly 3 pieces that I did not have). The rest were salvaged.
Use your salvaged materials-to do what? Dyes or gear that you ALREADY HAVE? So I get to make gear to re-salvage (great idea) Dyes? Not bad to make some extra money.
Use your glory boosters-to get more glory to buy things you already have just to salvage it to again make more items you already have and re-salvage…oh that circular logic.
Sitting on stacks upon stacks of glory boosters and hundreds of thousands of glory and now where to sink it. On top of all that, glory is going away without any new way to spend it.
There isn’t a single reason to solo queue over team queue anyway. There should only be hot join and team queue.
In its current incarnation, no. If they, in the future, decide to clean up team queues and allow for them to only be full teams then we would still need solo queue. Currently though, team queue, is just solo queue as a way to avoid Skyhammer (which is sad).
As commentary on Skyhammer, when I joined solo queue this morning. The match starts out as a 5 v 5. Two people on my team switch to engineers and literally 3 minutes into the match two people from the other team quit the match after getting knocked off the map. End result was a 3 v 5.

I play, but not with my tag on. ~1200 games (50% of them rated): ~700 warrior, ~200 necro, ~200 engy. I consider myself in the “competative casual” category.
That means a bit more than 2 games a day since release, which to me is casual and has nothing to do with competitive. Especially due to the reason soloq doesn’t proove points for balancing.
Competitive casual is the gamer archetype I put myself in, not a judgement of numbers. To me it represents how I prefer structured matches and winning, but don’t go out of my way to become the best. I don’t claim to know how to best balance the game, I leave that up to the balance team :P I still love to play our game though.
Who is on the balance team? And do they even lift…I mean pvp bro?
