Funniest thing I’ve heard in pvp is when any of the A-net staff tries to talk about balance and how the game is moving in the right direction…it’s always a good laugh. Oh, and the other part is listening to a certain community mod (who used to be the host of a show) spew forth the political correctness he used to condemn.

I guess people complain about Skyhammer because rolling their face on keyboard with fotm build is not enough. You actually need a brain to not get outplayed and avoid long drop and sudden stop.

I see getting outplayed=soak damage until you can use one of your 4 knock backs/pulls/immobilize all the while having to move on and off a point that is being HAMMERED. Yes yes very skillful indeed. My recommendation for this map is to get everyone an instakill button that is on a 40 second cd and let it be the only skill you can use.

It’s a simple fix really…they already have it in place. Why not let those who don’t want to play it, not have to play it?

So, by the same token, we should let people who only want to play Skyhammer, only play Skyhammer?

Maybe we should let people turn off condition damage, too.

Let them only play Skyhammer for all I care. I just don’t want to have to play it. The map is poorly designed. If there are those who enjoy pve’ing, by all means continue to SKYHAMMER to your little hearts out.

You already go 30 points in defense…

hmmm nah. just 25 points in defense.
my warrior goes 0/0/25/30/15

30 points if you’re running hammer…which is the majority of warriors.
Unless your running condi warrior with shout heals…in which case, I hope you get nailed by the SKYHAMMER

they (anet) did say they want warriors to be able to
- receive lots of damage and survive
- deal lots of damage
- have lots of cc
but not all 3 together.

hence, warriors who trait defensively should be harder to put down.
that’s all.

if healing signet is to be changed, the extra from healing power should be a lot more.

You still have ALL 3 currently…nothing changed. So now you go 0/20/30/0/20 instead of the 0/10/30/0/30 or you still go 0/0/30/0/30 and 10 points to play with.

That would totally suck. However, I don’t think the system warns you prior to getting the debuff. I know I had to go AFK during a match not too long ago and when I came back my toon was in the Mists, but I didn’t see any kind of notification saying I was booted, or that I would potentially get a debuff.

Most guys I would figure were probably bull-kittening everyone, but I think this guy’s legit. Either that or he’s been planning this troll post since April, since that’s when he was last complaining about his connection.

The system cannot distinguish between accidental disconnects and intentional disconnects, but when you dc three times accidental or not it is your responsibility. If you’re having connection issues that many times, perhaps you should stick to hot joins until you can fix your connection.

2 days is ridiculous indeed, even I miss out on some matches because I forgot I was que’d, mistakes happen. You should get punished quicker with the dishonour system but only for a couple hours at max.

Your costing 4 other people who ARE sitting around during that same waiting period because you forget? Why should they lose rank over your memory? Not saying that it isn’t human BUT Isnt it a surefire way of stopping you from forgetting with a 2 day ban?

If I have to wait 10 kitten mins for a que pop then yes I will brows some on the internet, If I happen to watch a comedy show and I get lost in track of time then yes I might accidently forget and not enter the que, I shouldn’t be punished 2 freaking days for a mistake like that. If things go this way I guarantee you it will only hurt the game because people are just not able to play. There’s a difference between punishing people for mistakes and almost banning them from the game. Who in the world wouldn’t try out other games and continue playing that game if they had to wait 2 days before they could play again.

Yes you should, it’s YOUR mistake and YOUR mistake alone. Whether or not is intentional is irrelevant. The other four people on your team can do absolutely nothing in that situation.

You seem to make quite a bit of mistakes with your time management, maybe the 2 day ban will make you double check your queue status next time before you decide on watching your next episode of Pretty Little Liars…

Healing Signet

Didn’t they nerf the healing signet of ele’s, because there wasn’t a choice in whether to use the passive or active? Interesting that this has come up again…

And you have to use a skill if u want to get healed with ele heal signet , when warrioirs can just afk and still get ticks.
Not even comparing the healing value :o)

I find it interesting because they continue to make the same mistakes when introducing new things. Hey, we made a mistake with eles, let’s go ahead and repeat that with warriors.

Two issues with eles:

1. No weapon swap
2. Base health pool is too low

Not having a weapon swap hurts glass cannon builds the most. Taking a look at all professions that play glass, you will notice that they usually have to stay on the outside of the fight until the moment is right and jump in for a kill and then jump out. They either mitigate damage through being able to disengage or through confusion (stealth). Yet, all of them have the option to play at range until the moment calls for them to burst; all except for ele.

Low base hp stops other builds from opening up, like a condition based build. If you build for condition damage, your hps are so low that your toughness barely negates any type of burst from a glass cannon build.

Healing Signet is good. People have searched for the mysterious fountain of youth, but little did we know, the answer to an immortal life span is a signet. A Signet of healing. No more does one have to dread the fear of death, instead, they must take a simple warrior’s oath and walk the mists as immortal gods for all eternity while playing the same game type for hundreds of years to come!

Though it isn’t entirely healing signet, it’s also the points invested in their defensive tree with a minimal hit to their offensive output. You can still go zerkers and be tanky and you can go condi and live for far far far too long while wearing people down. Not to mention the stacks of bleeds/duration on pin down and flurry. Not to mention the slow application rate of torment on impale (this is just another level of frustration).

atm i play mesmer too and its anoying to face a warrior or necro on a node cause you can paly perfect and unload everything on him and hp goes only to 80% or something and he just smash face on board and done

I usually win against most necros and wars, what is getting annoying is the presence of bunker engies-wars-condi wars and the almighty spirit ranger.

As a mesmer you’re forced out of the point in order to do damage and it really takes TOO MUCH TIME to bring them down.

Unlike guards, which survivability is tied to boons easily stripped with a simple shatter, these proffs survivability/counterpressure is too high when faced 1vs1 ( by any proff, not only mesmer) and untied to anything aside passive healing and blocks ( traited toolkit gives you 3secs of blocks every 15 secs) and it just takes too much time to kill them by yourself ( if you can even do it) while the points slowly tick in their favor.

Bunker wars is unfun in any shape or form.

I wonder how much of that would be solved by removing certain amulets from spvp.

I need Anet to remove the 25 skill cost!!!!!!

No wonder ANet needed to add more ways to monopolise tpvp, you’re all such cheapskates.

I’m willing to bet I’ve spent more money on this game, strictly as a pvper, than you have.

In this particular instance, in lieu of templates, I have purchased characters slots. I have 28 characters. I’ll be kitten ed if I’m going to farm pve to get skill points for pvp.

I wish to declare I am in FULL support of the skill cost.
As a matter of fact, I’d take a step further and add more – 1 G &10 laurels ontop of the 25 SP cost sounds perfect. After all, they’re easily obtainable just by playing the game.

I agree, let’s also make all skill points now require 250,000 glory to purchase. After all, you get glory for just playing the game.

Now if this were a pve bug, then it would have been fixed in hours. Take a look at the release notes. See how many bugs came out of the last update and have been fixed. Now see how many of those apply to pve.

S/D was the antithesis of skillful play. People clamoring that the nerf took away “skill” from the build need to honestly kitten what that word means. S/D was too forgiving, very similar to the current warrior builds. You could make mistake after mistake and still do well. That’s not skill, that’s broken.

I just wanted to stop by and let you guys know that we are listening. We’re looking at a few different ways to address the time investment it currently takes to get new skills in PvP, but it’s not something we’re able to talk about quite yet.

You’ll see a drastically different system in place in our next major rewards release that should address many of your concerns.

We appreciate that you are listening, but the fact that this made its way into the game at all speaks volumes for how you guys process information.

Not a single one of you stopped to think about this and said, hey this shouldn’t be implemented this way?

Thieves have one of the highest skill ceilings (hard to master), and Thief initiative regeneration was actually nerfed overall for the builds that took all of it and balanced out to be a very, very minor buff for those that didn’t.

In other words, Thieves weren’t buffed, the strongest build (S/D + SB 10/30/0/30/0) was nerfed hard and the other builds received a barely noticeable buff.

If you’re actually having trouble with Thieves, then may I politely suggest that you post on the Thief forum with any issues that you’re having; we’ll be more than happy to help you.

I said one of, and it’s true. A Thief at the top tier of play is hard to master thanks to just how squishy the profession is compared to others.

If you played a Thief you would know this.

I play everything and no thief is not hard to master…rofl.

I think Skullcrack is a good place now. Ideally, all of our high impact skills should allow for counter-play via a clearly telegraphed attack animation. It’s something we’re constantly thinking about when we look at existing skills, and doubly so when we brainstorm new ones.

Pin says hello…trying to spot that small circle in the arrow path with a metric crap ton of particle effects on the screen is impossible to dodge at close range.

Eh seems like a gw1 route.
The skills we’ve had up to now are “Core”.
Everything a beyond is additional. To this extent it creates a type of horizontal progression for new (and some old) pvp players to strive for, as they’ll be able to get a couple of new abilities for themself. However the Core skills are all fine of their own accord, so you are still competitive without the current 25, at least for current meta.

It’s not a bad idea in a working game.
It seems to be a lil like a MOBA concept, unlocking new toons for new ways to play the game as you progress…

The thing is…
GW2 isn’t a working game.
It is desperate to get people to like it.

GW2 PvP is extremely ungratifying. Badly made skills that aren’t even account bound in which you have to spend ridiculous amounts of time to get won’t change that.
If anything, it just makes the game a wee bit worse.

Woudl you prefer lol concept of having to buy heroes, or dota 2 that has everything unlocked. I just smell insane greed, trying to milk cash from pvp. There is absolutely no reason to lock skills in pvp, and it goes against their own ideas to level the playing field.

I would love the concept of them keeping to the pvp standard of the game. Which is all abilities are available. I’m not trying to act like a fool, but I have way too many characters (slots I bought just for pvp) to now have to go and get 25 skill points for each character to unlock a skill.

Not in the slightest. You have to pvp to earn glory. You have access to gold as a PvP only player if you craft dyes and sell them. The only things on there that are expensive are things that are costly for both gold and glory. You can level a character up to 80 for super cheap through PvP as well. It just means you need gold and glory and to get glory you have to PvP. They don’t want gold rich PvE players coming in and having the ability to buy whatever they like. It makes them PvP.

Yes in the slightest…I’ve only pvp’ed since the game was released. I have well over a million glory and nothing of worth to spend it on. Now they are releasing things of minor worth, but guess what? I still can’t buy it unless I PVE or invest more time in pvp. So yes, it is baffling.

16 gold to level a character. That’s not cheap.

Auto cancel 5v4 games

As title says. 5v4 games should be automatically cancelled before they start, or at least allow people to leave without getting a penalty. I have no motivation to play a 5v4.

The projects listed in the blog are not exhaustive – we’re working on other things simultaneously. As John mentioned, we’re still working on game modes and new maps. Removing Ranks?

A lot of people are misunderstanding what is happening. People who have earned their rank emotes and finishers will get to keep them as they are.

If I understand what people are saying, and I may be wrong, many people are treating ranks as more of a lifetime achievement. That is certainly something to consider in regards to the future reward system replacing them.

You guys just can’t help yourselves from stepping on the toes of your pvp playerbase. Why even remove ranks in the first place? It has been the only progression we’ve had since release, it would be like removing levels from pve players when you released new content.

Since there are no rewards, what is the incentive to coordinate a 5 man team vs other people, when you can just play YOLOQ instead?

Why try to schedule practice times etc. Most good teams/players have quit or disbanded.

For a game that is literally brand new, the player base for PvP is awful….

The game isn’t brand new…it’s over a year old. In terms of gaming it has already seen its best times. Six months to a year is where you see whether an MMO is going to be sustainable or not. I think we have our answer as it relates to GW2.

New Traits To Be Released Regularly

Meh, with balance issues and what not with incorporating new skills and traits, I would much rather them fix the current issues with traits and skills such as bugs or turning useless skills into useful ones.

Asking where they are is not entirely related to the traits themselves, but more about the progression they were to represent. Currently there isn’t any form of progression and this was to fill that void.

You do know we have multiple teams working on all aspects of the game concurrently, right? You can’t compare the output of one team to the sum of all output from every other team.

I mean, I’m good but I’m not that good.

Sure, it would be nice if we had more bodies working on PvP. That wouldn’t really get things to you faster, but could increase the number of things we’re getting to you.

I’m fairly certain getting more things to us would be getting things to us sooner.

And saying you have multiple teams working on things without numbers sounds a lot like a political response. I mean, you can have 5 teams consisting of 1-2 people per team.

Top 2 in solo queue leader boards are mesmers.

As much as I love mesmer and wholeheartedly support how awesome the class is, I’m forced to at least somewhat agree with the OP.

Mesmer is the sort of class where you either get it or you don’t. It’s rare to find a sorta mediocre mesmer, you’ll either get a great one or a horrible one, and horrible ones dominate the spectrum, even though a great mesmer can easily carry a team.

In this game there is easy profession and even easier profession. I have yet to find a “hard” profession to play.

Enemy Players on Minimap, thoughts and gripe

…the way I see it is that this change helps lessen the gap we have in player skill level.

That’s a pretty sad comment to make. With a game that has to much auto play and very few ways to distinguish yourself as more skilled than the next, the last thing you should be doing is lessening the gap between skill levels.

As someone who has been on both sides of the fence (player and dev), I’m genuinely excited for these changes.

I think we’ve tweaked enough things to shake-up the meta, and the work our team has been putting into the reward system means we now have incentive to play outside of owning people (which, to me, is still satisfying). Mixed in with the changes to matchmaking – we’re definitely headed in the right direction.

Is it December yet?

Did I miss something? Have you announced the changes to the reward system? Obviously this is coming in December.
