Thats it. Simple yes or no confirmation from that interview where 2 devs (who seemed out of their areas) said that there would be no new dungeons for GW2.
Is it okay to assume that is true? Was a mistake made in this interview or what they said is actually true?
I dont believe it can be too much of a hassle for Anet to confirm or deny those statements (but things arent always that simple).
That old Anet is gone with GW1
Î didn’t know that ANet was a non-profit organization when they did GW1.
Always good to read something new.
Next time read better then.
I said that the Anet from GW1 made less money because there wasnt this obsession around monetizing and Gemstoring everything. This is not a lie, its true.
They had plenty of money revenue from GW1 model alone that they decided to go “all-in” on GW2 with a huge budget. Ever since then, they are not the same company. Any veteran can see that.
I kind of miss times when people kicked you for meleeing Lupi and when people thought Scholar was a waste.
CoF path1 day, ping berserker with scholar “ruby orb only sorry” kick
4 warriors 1 mes only.
I miss that meta
back when everyone had a full geared warrior just for cof
Hell, I made myself a warrior just to mock those people! He is called: Escaped Cof Convict
He is now my main (or was, back when I played)
This is what necro mains have resorted to nowadays: necroing posts on dungeon forums
Because they probably studied the concepts of monetization of guild halls and realised that everything was free in GW1, and introducing paid/rented guild halls would just scream obvious greedyness.
Theres been a long time ever since the Anet I know for 9 years released something simply because it was fun for players and not because it filled their wallets.
That old Anet is gone with GW1
Guild Wars Beyond was ArenaNets way of tricking people into believing that content would continue to be created for GW1 so more people would purchase GW2.
Guild Wars Beyond is just Living Story but for GW1. They used it as a test for GW2.
It worked, but not for the right reasons (people needed stuff to do, Beyond came in on the right time).
And thats how GW2 got doomed with the Living Story concept: it showed Anet they could make the same or even more money with small increments of “content” and thus, less effort.
It’s best to put me as inactive as I no longer play the game.
If they ever put up content or change their design philosophy that makes me GW1 nostalgic, I’ll be right all over here again!
“P1 zerk speed. Join fast or be kicked.”
I still don’t know what he meant by that…
He probably means those guys who join the group but take ages to get into the actual dungeon
LFGs:
“AC All paths, braincheck, ping brain on arrival”
" TA up, fw, no BHBs"
" Arah P2, melee lupi, only clerics, gearcheck"
Create your own LFG with your own requirements. Those “zerker skippers” you hate so much play how they want, too. They just dont wanna play with you, and thats something you’ll have to accept if you want everyone to be able to “play how they want”.
Miku you just got yourself some content: fractal goating xD
BINGO!!!
Good luck trying to kill all the enemies in some of the dungeons.
But, why not add the filter?
I’ve already killed everything in every dungeon in the game several times, aetherblade, arah, fotm, isn’t that hard.
What makes you think the problem is that they are “supposedly” “hard”?
The problem is that they are boring. That’s all.
Oh, that’s not it. I expect everyone to suck. I also expect people to not tell each other how to play unless they ask for help.
I suppose those are unreal expectations, but if I’m “running a meta build” I shouldn’t be asked to bring reflects to a dungeon full of projectiles.
I hate when people tell me to slot Time Warp, Feedback, and Portal. If you want to tell me how to play a Mesmer, why aren’t you on one instead? I know how to do my duty, and that’s all that I care about. If you want to do my duty for me, get on your own Mesmer, don’t get on mine.
I also am capable of soloing plenty of content, so it’s not a matter of getting good or lucky with PuGs, but just a matter of doing it with others to make it go by faster. I also have internet problems when my entire family is home so it’s nice to have a buffer in case I disconnect.
It seems to me your problem is just people in general. You want to play with them but you don’t want them to speak at all, you’re just using them to get through things faster. Don’t expect them to act nicely if that’s your life attitude.
People suggesting slotting certain skills are: making sure you are on the same page, making conversation/interacting.
I can’t understand how would someone be mad at these kind of things.
In-game surveys are such a great way to gather info. A supplement to those metrics. We had surveys at the start of the game, but they got removed because “imersion”
SAB is not coming back anytime soon, because according to Anet, Super Adventure Box is something completely different than the Living Story and as such it was confusing many players and killing their immersion they obviously love and need so much. Let’s not talk about new players being overwhelmed by SAB presenting them a whole new universe! Brains would be scattered everywhere!
So yeah, pretty much the reason why SAB is not being worked on is because Living Story.
Go LS!
Goodbye Lilith. You’ll do great anywhere you go
Jerus. They don’t have the manpower and quite frankly, the willpower to pursure other fixes. This will be most likely suffer the lazy Malrona treatment with no thought of the consequences that might create for solo/group situations to other skills.
It’ll be interesting to see how they fix this one.
It’s really not going to be interesting to see how they fix this one: unreflectable projectiles, the Malrona and many others treatment.
Jeez, thanks for all the super fast replies, see i’ve tried lfg, i mean i’ve literally stood for hours at the gates of arah searching through other lfg and with my own, nobody, and i mean nobody is willing to help! that’s why i took to here!
also for anyone asking im in the EU.Thanks,
EdwardC’mon kind souls, give me a hand
That is really hard to believe man, I just got a group going through my own LFG for story mode at midnight, when I wasnt event expecting to get a group going!
Hello Fearless Pidgeon,
I just did my third Arah Story Mode (Zhaitan) for my alt through the LFG.
Maybe you are mistaking the “6g sell” for Explorable mode paths?
Anyways, I simply posted: “Arah story!” on LFG and got a group going soon enough. There’s no need to pay people to play with you, there’s already plenty wanting to do so for free!
Enjoy.
Stacking is something that is definitely being discussed and is on the table. It’s being iterated upon moving foward and will be released when it’s ready for a better cohesive and enjoying experience. If you don’t log in during the Stacking feature release, you may have to unlock it for 200 gems in the Gemstore. Otherwise it’s purely free!
It’s something players have been asking for and we are very excited to show you all about it!
See you on Tyria!
All I can think of is that it’s better to have a portion of the playerbase divided than a portion of the playerbase not playing at all.
We can’t even sell dungeons with friends filling the spots anymore to protect us from being kicked. Look at this example by dutchiez
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/dungeons/Dungeon-selling-request-deposit/first#post4341878
Why is this okay Anet? You wanted to fix the instance ending when someone leaves party, but you created tons of issues when kicking other players.
This patch won’t end well. You should hotfix this as soon as possible or you’ll hear the outrage of people getting their instances stolen. You can’t possible monitor all the kicks/reports going on. Why not work on preventing such thing from happening in the first place?
Fillers wont work anymore.
- You list a LFG with 3 fillers
- Someone joins your party and pays, filler leaves
- Friend of the person who joined first joins and they quickly kick you and your fillers
- They invite their friends
They now get 5 dungeon slots for the price of 1. Everybody chips 1/5th of the price to the guy who joined first and they all just got a free daily minus ~1g.
Welp. Anet really done kittened up with this one.
BINGOOOO!
GM accounts aren’t even playable accounts. They log in there for the sole purpose of monitoring. And you guys are picking because of the build? Lol!
I’ll go ahead and play this game. The “screenshot” you’ve provided while “awesome”, doesn’t discount the fact that no one in this screenshot has been actioned. You are posting on the forums, which is a clear indication that you are not banned. None of the people in this party chat are banned. So while the “Legit” is being put into say (according to this screenshot), no action was taken against anyone here.
I know you wanted to post a screenshot of an account being banned, but you are posting a screenshot from the launcher back in 2012. We are on build 38057 not 15377.
My guess is that the GM was putting into question the validity of the tactic being used, but did not action as there was nothing against the rules.
I’ll go ahead and supply the screenshot that the GM took in context of this text. GM Stuffs and Character Name of person in question are blurred (sorry!)
Chris, I was under the impression GM’s in GW2 always had in their nickname “Gm”, as per this post of your fellow Anet employee
So is this just because it was an outdated GM, and only the recent system (pushed 2 months ago) requires them to have “Gm” on their nickname?
And also, why are the 2 cases connected if they occur in different instances?
(edited by Quickfoot Katana.8642)
Wait until you get kicked from your own instance. I’m not so sure if it’s a positive change overall, considering we fixed 1 thing and added 2 problems into the mix.
GM Talon can you please PM me in forums? I found a disturbing incident that possible contains an Anet employee concerning dungeons and maybe you want to check out if it’s problematic.
You guys must be joking.
Let me check if i’ve understood it right:
You think that the kick system is not ready/optimal for the change you’re about to make but you do it anyway
You are aware of what kind of problems not just some but many players may have and you trust on players kindness to ensure that it will not happen that way
The only tool you give to the players who suffer this actions is a report? Do you know that when you’re kicked you lose any way of knowing who kicked you? Do players now have to take an screen of every dungeon they try to complete in case that they face this kind of behaviour and so they can report them?
Amazing Anet, I knew you didn’t know what were you doing but THIS is the king of the bad ideas.
They’re working on a way to make it so you DO know who kicked you, even after they’ve done so. This will make reporting easier, and should make it easier for them to see it was done in the wrong.
Meanwhile, they seem to feel they have the numbers to suggest that pushing the change forward solves more problems than it causes. They have the numbers on how many complaints they get about instances failing due to a DC or a party leader assuming they’re safe if the rest of the party wants to win, and how often they get reports of griefing by party kick.
I’d trust them on this one.
And then we take a look at your forum signature.
CANNOT wait to join lfg seeking tar help to kick them out and practice my lupi. BY BODY IS READY!!
/s
My god. Everytime more and more people mention an outrageous example that we didn’t suffer from with the other system. This is serious, Anet. We are left more vulnerable than before this new system.
And this system was developed due to instance owners DCing/leaving party = instance end, so here’s my solution:
The game MUST be able to differentiate between a kick and a DC. So my sugestion is:
* kick owner = end instance
* owner leaves/DC = slot open, instance is not terminated
Some people have been noticing increased GM activity in dungeons (NA sources) which backs up what Chris Cleary said about ramping up GM resources.
As an EU player I am yet to see one. So my question is to fellow EU players: have you ever seen one patrolling dungeon LFGs and banning exploiters?
If Chris can shed some light into this would be appreciated aswell.
Great. So now not only I will get kicked while selling the Dungeon I solo’d, they will also get the instance for themselves so they can finish and invite their buddies.
And before you say Abusing LFG is a bannable offense, I would like to remind you such thing has never happened as I’m victim of a known dungeon LFG griefer for monthes and nothing has been done.
How about if when creating the party, you can choose if kick mechanic is implemented, or only party leader can initiate kicks? Would this help?
That kind of system is beyond Anet’s current resources. Have you forgotten LFG took 1 year?
Not to mention everyone would use the later option.
Great. Now those abusers will not only kick me, but also finish my own instance and get a piece of the cake. Guess who’s never selling alone again.
The LoL pings are excellent. If you want to go to a point or get a treb, you can just ping that you’ll go there.
The only problem with the LoL pings, if directly applied to GW2, is that they’re missing an important one: request players to go to that point instead of you yourself going there. Generally, in LoL, that’s usually the jungler’s job: all that needs to be done is ask for assistance. But in GW2, where players do not have “fixed” lanes to stay at and rotations happen more often, a “someone go there!” command is very important when you can’t personally go there.
If we were to keep things simple and elegant, and only add four pings to the wheel, I would change the “Assist Me!” to “Help Here!” to fulfill both its original purpose as well as the purpose I mentioned above.
For that, I would go for those four pings:
- Missing!
- Danger!
- Help here!
- On my way!
You could ping a “help here!” at your location, to function as an “assist me”, or ping it at another location in the map, to request someone to go there when you can’t.
There is an “Need Assistance” ping in LoL
For a moment I thought Brazil was the one behind this troll thread
PandorasBane, there’s only much the community can do when the company developing the game is not interested in that particular area.
Am i the only one that prefers ice bow than fgs? And be honest, did they cut the dps of the fgs that much that it became useless or you are blowing this out of proportions?
Even if they didnt cut the DPS of the fgs, they fixed the field-stacking against a wall. They did both, so it’s bound to be useless pretty much
Seems like we are not the only ones puzzled by Anet’s direction:
http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/2ed3js/thank_you_for_finally_cutting_the_cord_arenanet/
I would be extremely surprise if they ever release a new dungeon , but i can imagine them releasing new lvl of difficulty (+hp+damage i would be surprised with more than that tho ) for each of our already old and even hated dungeons, since it wouldnt require as much time of their precious living-story.
Sadly, I wouldn’t hold my breath. He said repeatedly that there was zero-possibility of a “hard mode” of any sort for existing dungeons.
Only quality of life fixes.
Yup. Basically what we’ve been getting along the years: stealth changes to dungeons.
I’ll take that plate back to the kitchen. Not interested.
Axelwarrior, there are only a small percentage of encounters who are actually interesting and not boring.
FGS being nerfed doesnt change that.
Im sorry but PvP is not a side game for them. They are dishing out a lot of cash on PvP: 150k total prize tourney in Beijing
Everyone who wants a somewhat competitive PvP plays Team Arenas solo.
Anet go grab your metrics and get back to me on this: What percentage of players are queueing alone for Team Arenas?
Because those are the kind of players who are alienated by Solo Arenas map rotation and the upcoming model equalizer only available in Team Arenas.
I can only ask why was open-spectating + replays of tournaments a thing in GW1 and not anymore in GW2?
It’s ironic that the dungeon community was probably the biggest portion of the GW1 playerbase.
I’m seriously laughing at the people saying dungeons will suddenly become fun now that FGS is nerfed. Guys, the mechanics are still the same.
If anything already boring encounters will only become even more awful…
FGS barely made them tolerable.
Should I go add /sarcasm to my first post? :<
No, because I’m pretty sure there are a lot of people thinking that way
This change is directed at dungeons. Well, mainly fuelled by the casual reddit crowd and the constant speedrun videos there spamming FGS, but still it’s not like the focus of this change is dungeons anymore than it is appealing to the majority.
Please colesy don’t make this game something that is clearly not.
No pity for the pugs. The amount of time it takes them to “pick up” stuff makes me wonder if humans truly are becoming dumber each generation
back when everyone had a full geared warrior just for cof
