I have something better for Anet, It’s prove that this matchmaking is “better” (only for them). I was in red team and Anet won’t tell anything in this thread because they’re aware of mm fail.

In my opinion, if S2 Ranked was working as intended, it should be IMPOSSIBLE for lopsided matches like this to occur in diamond division. 27 – 502

Of course it does. What’s your point? I’m not saying I should be legendary, and as such I shouldn’t be expected to carry 4 pvptards to victory over a decent team. I just want to solo q and have a decent chance of getting teammates who know the basics of what to do and what not to do.

The point is nothing from prior seasons should affect the current season.

I hadn’t really been into PVP until after the HOT release. I did most of my learning in S1 Ranked. It was the ladder system that really brought me into PVP. I made it about halfway through Ruby and was pretty happy with were I ended up. But apparently I trashed my MMR in S1 learning how to play. I am very knowledgeable now on how to play pvp and when I get a decent team winning is fairly easy. The problem is that I am pretty much garenteed to get at least 2 pvptards on my team every match.

My point is what’s wrong with everyone starting with equal MMR at the start of a season? If you’re really as good as you think, you should have a tip-top MMR in no time at all. I really think if i hadn’t played S1 at all, i’d be doing much better now. Giving players a matchmaking advantage based on last season is what went wrong this season for alot of us. Anet has a system that coddles high MMR and face smashes low MMR. True competition should start on an even playing field. Anet has some of us starting on an uphill battle while others get a downhill ride. What competitive game gives players an advantage based on the prior season?

Any advice on how to stop clicking? I spent 2 years mostly in pve and during that time I got used to mouse clicking skills. I feel like clicking skills is holding me back in pvp, but every keybind I try just feels weird and when the fighting gets intense I end up reverting back to clicking. Does an MMO mouse work well for gw2? Does anyone have a keybind they want to share? Any advice would be appreciated.

Have an elevator at the bottom and some updrafts. Take out the door to skyhammer and make it only accessible by glider/updrafts.

I agree. Its not that 2 teefs is actually THAT bad. Its the fact that both refused to switch which tends to be indicative of their lack of skill. Tends to mean they don’t care about winning and want to be carried.

If a theif is good, he knows that 2 insta-killer high mob decappers are better than 1. Stop quoting the hype!

I think this is a new idea, let me know what think:

At the end of a match, give players the option re-queue with the same team. I don’t know how many times I win 2 or 3 matches and then get placed on a team that has no clue. I feel like it would help some of the solo q issues if we could opt to stay with a winning team composition.

Any strategies that you use in a match would not have to start from scratch everytime. And it’s more flexible then forming a party.

@ ROC I said at the start the start of the thread the ability to get knocked off the edge of the map is funny. You know it’s your own fault for getting too close to the edge. And I asked for no railings, and no change to instant death on the map edge. The abuse is specifically refering to the holes where mesmer can easily pull you into them, or skyhammer platform where you can get feared off by warriors. Their fear is unblockable, disables all your skills and lasts for 3 seconds. On that small platform you can be in the center and get feared off and there’s no way to avoid it.

Add gliders. Problem solved

Almost all classes now have access to some sort of push or pull to knock people off so I don’t see a problem there.

You already added more “railings” so there is less chance of getting knocked off everywhere.

I don’t see the problem with this map and why people hate it. I think it’s fun and having the hammer there is no different than beasts/trebs/lords/etc.

The only thing I might change is adding a second way to get to the hammer. While I love trapping/marking up the door it does feel cheap.

The map is widely hated because of abuse. Every profession can pull or knock back and it has occured to everyone they can win just by pulling people into holes. They aren’t stupid. However for some people that wouldn’t be a satisfactory win because it’s using a cheap tactic like you described traps. Instead of having an enjoyable fight i’ll just instantly kill you. I’d say more people wouldn’t play like that than there are people who would. It’s sad because I like the challenge of fighting in a small area and trying to avoid running or dodging into the holes. There’s no choice but to get rid of them.

I haven’t played unranked in a while so I haven’t seen the railings they put up. From past experience during ranked there’s too many premades wanting to stomp in unranked. I’ll have to have a look.

Sorry but how is using the cliffs as a weapon abuse? Everytime I get close to the edge, I remember that someone can push me off the edge. If they do KB me off the edge, I don’t cry, I just wish that I had better positioning so that I could have KB them.

Leave everything the same and enable gliders. You have to have a map with gliders! Got KB off cliff? Deploy your glider. Put an elevator at the bottom so a KB off the cliff means you just waste a little time getting back into the fight. Have the elevator from the pit take you to the skyhammer platform. So you could jump off cliff and get to skyhammer platform quicker w/o the person on the cannon seeing you coming a mile away

You can’t attack while gliding so you are a bit of a sitting duck, but that’s the trade-off for a straight shot from mid to home/far.

Seriously, gliders would make skyhammer awesome!

It was like every attack I dealt was healed after I landed it. Seemed like too much to be regen. After I died, my teammate burst him down like 50% and that was immediately healed. It’s hard to say what his dps was like because there was someone ranging me at the same time…

I fought against a DH last night that was continually healing for like 30 sec. Any damage taken was almost immediately healed. After I was killed I watched him do the same thing to my teammate. I have to believe thst most of his healing should have been on cool down. Is this a hack or does a trap build DH really have that much healing?

I think it’s hilarious that everyone has there own idea about what is OP. From what I gather from the forums every class needs a nerf. But if every class needs a nerf of some kind, doesn’t that mean that NO classes need a nerf? Seriously the only class that isn’t in the threads as OP broken life isn’t fair is Warrior. Really, stop kittening so much. It’s not fun to lose, but class balance is mostly an excuse for why you can’t win. Kinda like matchmaking.

It’s not a disingenuous statement if you read what they had said.

A disingenuous statement is one which is factually true when read in a certain way, but which is worded in a way intended to cause confusion. In this case they should have been aware that players did not ever want to face 5-man premades with anything less than a 5-man premade, so their phrasing left plenty of room for justifiable misinterpretation.

Queue time would skyrocket during non-peak hours for sure. There just isn’t enough player base to support two separate queues for ranked PvP.

I described this system in another thread, but I think it would work:
I don’t think they should bring back soloQ in full, but they should bring it back in spirit. Just as you can choose to only play Conquest or only play Stronghold, you should be able to set your own matchmaking preferences.

There should be a toggle “Only match me with other solos,” another “ONLY match me with small groups,” and another “Match me the fastest.”

If you pick ONLY solo, then nobody on either team would ever be in a group, although this might be slower to get. Of course you can only solo yourself to use this feature.

If you pick ONLY small groups, then it would never match you against a five-man pre-made, but might put you into a 4+1 v 2+3, or other mixed/solo grouping. Of course you cannot be in a five-man and use this (it would just automatically ignore this toggle if you’re in a five-man).

If you pick “Fastest” then it doesn’t care, it’ll match you with the first four players against the first five players that it can find, which means that you will end up in mixed matches, and would be ideal for pre-mades or people who think they can handle pre-mades.

If it takes more than a few minutes to find a match, perhaps there would be a pop-up that asks if you’d prefer opening up your options to a winder selection, but you could always just wait it out.

This would make the q time for 5 man teams even longer than it is now. What I have noticed is that the bigger the party the longer it takes to q up. So if players are opting out of match-ups against five man teams there will be less players in the matchmaking pool for them. Which is what all you complainers want. Bunch of communists.

What makes me question the validity of the system is this:

How can I destroy the opposite team one match, then I solo Q up again and most of the same people ending up on my team and it is my team that get’s destroyed? Did my team’s MMR suddenly allow a scrub on my team?

Does that indicate that I am an average player? My streaks are never more than 3 matches win or lose, and I usually end up with 1 or 2 extremely close matches a night (500 to 498). They problem I face is that with a 50% win rate it is very slow to make progress. If I am indeed an average player, why is the range of skill so wide at this point in emerald?

In my game experience, they biggest indicator I will win is the result of the first team fight on mid. If you lose mid, your theif had better be capping far.

I switched to playing rev instead of theif because my team kept losing the team fights. imo, a good theif can help a good team beat another good team by decapping far and rotating back to mid to help burst. But when everyone is wiping on mid in 3 sec, decapping far doesn’t really help much.

According to what i’ve read, the MMR actually rates a pre-made with a slightly lower chance of winning, because supposedly they match pre-made teams against teams with a higher MMR to account for the lack of coordination on the solo q teams. Supposedly

Now it only ensures you fight with people it thinks are at your skill level, not against people who are of your skill level. So you can end up in matches it’s pretty kitten sure you are going to lose.

And if you lose, it re-adjusts its estimation of your skill level down and will team you with worse people. So you will just lose more.

So, if I lose a game that the matchmaking thought I was supposed to lose, my MMR still goes down? That doesn’t seem right. I would think that your MMR should only go down if you lose a game you were supposed to win.

Evidence would suggest otherwise… Also what about all the winners who get put into progressively higher brackets? Is their MMR not changing either because they are winning fights they are supposed to win?
MMR is supposed to be sensitive to a persons chances to win, however the ‘streaks’ that this system has created will certainly have an effect.

Anyone who plays online chess will know that losing against opponents who are significantly higher rated still has a negative effect on your own rating. Multiply that by 10-15 losses and it would be a sizeable drop.

Right, but I assume that chess players KNOW the rating of their opponent, and can choose whether or not to risk their rating by accepting a match with someone well above their skill level.
