I’very had some pretty amazing comebacks in my pvp matches. None since this AFK bs though.
Ppl give up and blame matchmaking instead of looking for a reason within their control.
If it’s common knowledge that you can get matched up against teams well above your skill, once you start to lose a match all the crybabies just give up and AFK for some snacks to cure their bruised ego. It’s hard to pull off epic comebacks if half your team stops trying.
DW about it, i got reported for cheating because i used thief downstate port to the clocktower roof. I got reported and flamed countless times for filling my role: +1 :|
Last season was the worst: i got called names, told to quit game, uninstall, kill myself etc. by own teammates just for playing thief.
Welcome to pvp lol.
You can port to roof in clocktower??!
I’ll be trying that tonight XD
I just started this season on Saturday and didn’t lose one game until I got into the Sapphire Division. To me it seems the matchmaking is better since I was constantly going against premades in season 1. This time I haven’t seen one premade and at most the other team had 2 groups of 2. I’m just happy I don’t have to worry about going against a full premade every other game as soloq.
And btw do you know how the matchmaking system works?
Do you? What’s your point?
Yes I do, it match HIGH MMR players against LOW MMR players. My point being the system isn’t actually perfect, even though it work for you.
Okay so yes I agree it isn’t perfect. I was just stating my experience but not necessarily saying the matchmaking was the best. Most games have been blowouts for me, and that is most likely because I am being matched up with other similar MMR players that fall into the same range of PIPs I have.
To me all this means is that my teams are consistently far better than the other team. Which means I am consistently better than opposing players. Eventually I will be in a division that has MMR around mine, in the same division and I will start losing more games.
Clearly Amber & Emerald did not have enough similarly skilled players which is why I went on a 20 game winning streak.
I’ve had a 10 game losing streak followed by a 10 game winning streak. Playing the winning matches, my teammates know what to do: rotate, fight on points, not run into a 4v1. Playing the losing matches, at least 2 of my teammates have no clue. I’m holding a point solo against 3 after a minute of fighting they kill me and the other points are not decapped. Where was my team? Fighting off point and getting killed 4v2. If this MMR is working so well, why is my team composition such a dice roll.
Games i’ve won have been too easy, like 50 to 500, or pretry well matched. Then i’ll end up on losing streak and really it seems like my team has no idea what to do….
The only thing that needs to be said that’s relevant to this thread is that if you don’t think soloq needs to be added to this already dying game then you’re a fool. Everything else that’s being discussed is kinda irrelevant.
Countless
5 Solo vs. 5 Solo still has matchmaking problems that are outlined in this thread, and leagues aren’t perfected yet, so there’s that to talk about.
Why doesn’t anyone use lfg for pvp? It would give would-be solo q’s a chance to form a ragtag team prior to matchup. Every time I look in pvp lfg it’s empty, and if I advertise, no one joins…
The system is set up to move elite players through the lower tiers fast by feeding them the lower level players. Causing much hate and discontent among the lower ranks. Please Anet, cut the bs and just seed the elites into a higher division to start. That is my request for season 3 I guess…
Preseason qualifier tournament!
(edited by R O C.6574)
This is the same toxic meta that got the dungeons nerfed. I remember dudes kicking players for joining 80 exp lfg with a lvl 79. Then we all wait for another player… wasted more time waiting for the perfect meta team when we would have finished sooner just letting the poor guy stay!
i got in way late last season (last 2 weeks) and got about halfway through Ruby. So i thought i’ll jump in early this season and get to legendary for sure…
I have for some reason been put in the loser group. Which i don’t get because i was playing with a 70% win rate in season 1…
Dear Anet,
Why won’t you show us our MMR?
What should Herald do when coming up on a 1v1 with Reaper?
Should it really be a given that Reaper destroys Rev?? That goes against the lore of the game! Didn’t Rytlock cheat Death??
Give Rev an “uncorruptable” boon effect. Throw it into the Salvation trait line
So your opponent match-ups are within your pip range…
I guess that’s fine, but that assumes that all top tier players started AT the beginning of the season. My guess is there will be teams face-smashing lower tier teams the entire season.
I think the system is fine mostly, they just need to add a MMR threshold for your starting division(except for new players).
For example:
1500 to 1700 MMR start at emerald
1701 to 1900 MMR start at saphire
1900+ MMR start at rubyOr something like that.
I agree with this 100%. Maybe even a pre-season qualifier like other posts have been saying.
You should get a 1 hour dishonor for AFK. Anet used to kick you for inactivity in a match, so they have to know when somebody does this.
It would be cool to see exactly how i stacked up against the rest of the community. Although, there might be a faction of whiners that couldn’t handle the truth.

Glad no one can see their MMR. Players would just use that information to game the system by figuring out what actions they can take in a match to raise it and avoid all actions that lower it.
Do you have an example of such an exploit?
google for wow arena mmr exploits – people always found some way to exploit the system because they saw their mmr
Yes, because we have had absolutely zero exploits in gw2 so far.
so let’s add more?
It looked like WOW implemented a ban on players caught win trading. It didn’t really makes sense though because both teams had to be in on the scam. How could you be sure you were going to match up with the team helping you exploit?
All i saw was stuff about “win trading.” I guess knowing your MMR gives you the ability to test an exploit for effect. But that leads me to another question: Why have rank points if they aren’t a part of your “ranked” matchmaking?

What are non-pro/legendary players supposed to do in this situation? Don’t even queue until they change matchmaking? Wait a few days or get a group before queueing?
Seems a possible solution would be to stagger the start of the season. Let all the really high start a few days early, then let the above average group queue, and finally let all the average in. Since it sounds like players are going to have to do it for themselves anyway.
I like the idea of preseason qualification that will seed you into higher division based on pre-qual score
I consider myself a slightly above average PVPer. I jumped into ranked the last 2 weeks of season 1 and got to about halfway through Ruby. playing an average of 15 matches a day. This season, it seems like i’m on the “bad player list.” Could my MMR rating have suffered because i got into the season late?
How do you know what your MMR is? How is it calculated?
Yes yes, trying to say necro is better then rev?! YOu try to save your rev nerf, or what?! Revenants are the strongest in game atm.. and u saying stupid things… you were bad with thief .. that’s all, I’am bad with it to!
Necro, or more accurately Reaper, is most OP in game imo
This is a better thought out version of what i’ve been thinking
If my rank is 57, does that factor into the “Ranked” Arena matchmaking??
yes please. my rev hates necro chill condi bomb nightmare
4 games in a row, pinned at home on Nifhel
were they getting you at both gates?
when the opponent is pressuring my home i usually sneak to far and decap so they spread back out
That’s because it’s like Olympics vs Special Olympics right now. I really think they should start higher tier players ahead at least one division.
will a fragmented gw2.DAT file cause lag?
Why is Guild Wars Repairing my data archive?
I was reading through old posts…
I think the dungeon community kittened off Anet…
We got like three of these threads on the first page of the dungeon forums. Do we really need another one?
Anet has made their stance on dungeons clear.
There have been almost no updates to them, since the dungeon team got disbanded.
Every other week there was a “Nerf Zerker thread” I think they were just happy to have us all forget about them.
So I wouldn’t count on any changes in the loot tables, they can still be profitable, if you run the right ones, but that is mostly due to drops.
I got the recipe for Plague out of CM just before the gold nerf. Plague sells for like 8 gold on TP so I still run that one, but it takes a long time to queue and don’t count on 80 exp
Yeah, most matches i’m in against a guild team ends like 200 to 500 withe the solo q winning. But gvg rewards might encourage more dedicated pvp guilds
Your rally point could be jumping out of an airship!
Maybe you’re right. Button mashers are a big part of the gaming market. And they tend to anger easily
That’s not what I said ANET. Not at all
I just figured out why everyone says kitten on this forum… ANET doesn’t like kittening kittens… hilarious
But the YouTube videos of people losing their kitten will be amusing. Seriously though I think it would be interesting to see how it affects the gameplay.
Ok it starts after 8 clicks
Maybe just stun. The idea would be to discourage irradic game play
What would happen if you got a 1/8 sec stun and weakness condition for pressing an attack on cd or out of initiative? It would stack in duration.
(edited by R O C.6574)
That stacks in duration
What would happen if you got a 1/8 sec failed cast for hitting a skill on recharge?
Something is strange… for few months of playing pvp I could say my “50% chance” of winning was rather lower and I had more matches lost than won during the day.
Since leagues ended and people roll with unranked then first time in my life I got such a huge winning streak, most of those matches were soloq and two were trio premade with guildies.
For what reason this happened?
I had a 90% win rate with my DH for a couple days in a row. Then all of a sudden i was getting like 40-60% win rate. I thought it was the lag i was getting, but maybe i got pushed into a higher skill tier??
Well I guess I’m a clicker then, but I average 80-90% percent wins in my game history and i get about 170+ points per game. By no means am i a free kill.
It is annoying to have to have to click skills because it makes it hard to to mouse target. I tried re-binding my keys, but haven’t come up with a config that’s comfortable. i don’t want to pay $100 for a gaming mouse or game pad, so what are my options?
I was going through my combat log and noticed that the biggest hits were coming from poison
IMO the condi damage is out of control. What was wrong with 25 max stacks? Condi builds were mad that there conditions were wasted if the target already had max stack of conditions. I run power/crit builds so why is it fair for might to be capped at 25 stacks? If there are enough boons out between me and my allies, why can’t i get 40 stacks of might?
Do you even reach a situation where you get 25 stacks of something and don’t die??? The cap realease was a solution to PvE problem and did have little impact to PvP . Also wrong anology condi builds also use might.
Now that i think about it, you’re right. But i still think Reapers are a pain in the OP. It’s the condi mixed with a 1000 little grotesque flesh blob meat shields f-ing up my targeting.
Help me out here, what’s the counter to Condi-bombing? Which class is the best counter to Reaper?
Why doesn’t Anet think Reapers need a nerf bat to the face? They smack everyone else it seems…
Could it be that all the emo-goth-vamps that play Reaper as main will direct their evil nerd rage at the forums? You think people whine about nerfs now? Wait till they finally hit that scary OP class. They’ll be like, “GW2 sucks! I’m not playing this stupid game anymore! Get the Pathfinder books back out! Anet can’t nerf those!”

The only person i could possibly imagine that thinks this feature is unfair would be a clicker, and if thats the case, thats a whole other problem on their end
Help me out. What’s a clicker?
Skyhammer is “bad for competition?”
Wow, in all the other game’s I’ve played the correct response to someone complaining about being punted off an edge was to tell them to stop putting their backs to a cliff when fighting someone with a knockback.
Positioning is hard.
EXACTLY!
