As a zerk scepter focus ele I’d be more afraid of the fact that there is NO MORE PROC SIGILS = 30% of the damage is gone.
yeah, I meant it that way Im weak anyway and they still nerfing it more, but not adding something good. Fire skills of focus are really useless.
It baffles me why people think Ele was weak before patch. It definitely feels more challenging now. They nerfed skills across the board. Part of trying to dial down power creep

Gotta love all the reflects. I was killing a P/P thief all match last night, or should i say he was killing himself XD. Ele is actually very strong if you count all the buffs and auras to teammates as part of your dps

Theoretically, the rating system will cause you to sink until the skill level of the other players is so bad that you are the best of 10 and you carry a win. If you don’t understand strategies that help the team, you shouldn’t expect to win.

I like Ele too. Tempest is hard to play at lower ranks except as a point holder. Many players will actually run out or your aoe buffs.
I’m in mid-silver and carrying. I wouldn’t dismiss the role of point holding. It’s like, the most important role. Especially in silver, where people will stay fighting on a point you own even if you are bunking the crap out of them XD

if mmr have to be seen it have to be at the begining, in this manner team knows who is the theoric weakest link and who needs more to be +1ed im an 1v1 regardless of their class and rival class, and not doing in this manner is “team” fault, not less mmr one fault

Honestly I don’t see why team queue (or dynamic queue) couldn’t be an option alongside current queue system. Give players the choice of a presumably “quick” queue in solo/duo or a bit of wait to queue as trio or more.
From what I’ve observed over the past 6-12mths is player choice slowly being eroded. How we as players queue to play is one example. Lack of balance/diversity limits our build choices. Since Stronghold was removed from Ranked (not saying that is a bad thing), we are left now with only one play format for Ranked. Do you see the pattern here?
Only a couple of weeks into S6 and I’m just about ready to call it quits, in the vain hope S7 might be better.
A quick queue option is cool. And by selecting it, you are accepting that you will be at a disadvantage. (So no whining in the forums about it XD)
The most positive possible outcome would be that players would actually start using LFG for pvp. That’s what I would do if they changed to this. It would probably slow down the game play though. You would need to spend time in LFG, then queue up and wait for a match-up. After every match, it is likely that you will have to replace players. But I do like this idea because you could create ideal team comps. And actually kick people that don’t really know the game mode. It’s not that different from fractals, dungeons and raids. The biggest unknown is how a system like this would affect matchmaking. What kind of exploits could there be? Are they game-breaking?
Courtyard got removed because anet didn’t want to deal with balancing a combat only game mode.

Then we have people that farm animal 24/7 and let enemy steal it when it should be thieves job. Or people forcing thief to defend the point because they would rather chase some guy on the beach. Bottom line, they force thief in situations that thief is not meant for and then flame and blame that thief for not “carrying” them.You know what would solve majority of that problem? If thief wasn’t shoehorned into such a garbage role where it had literally zero versatility.
‘+1’ and ‘decap’ is a joke of a role. 95% of the time you’re better of taking a mesmer or a revenant instead of a thief.

If you don’t like the role of the thief, then why not play a different class? That’s like complaining about healing other players while playing a healing class. And thief is still the king of +1 and decapping. If mesmers or revenants are doing a better job, then you’re not playing thief well.

Knowing when to ‘+1’ and when to ‘decap’ is something i don’t think a lot of players understand, and it usually means going 2 different directions on the map.
Another role for thiefs in lower levels is baiting distractions, i’ll have 2 or 3 players chasing me into random corners of the map while my team gets caps. Love that kitten!!

I was playing as thief last night. The only matches I lost were the ones where the support classes were pushing far. Why would a support Ele keep going far by himself??? That’s the thief/mesmer’s job, plus the rest of the team could be benefiting from auras and everything else the Ele spits out. Know your role. If you are a support build, you should be chasing team fights.
Title says it all. What would you guys recommend for a duo for sPVP?
Friend would probably want to play a warrior, if that helps.

As a pvp-only player, how the heck are you supposed to get the 2000 T6 mats plus everything else?? Is there a reward track that has good T6 drops? Right now the only T6 mats i get are from the laurel merchant.

High risk high reward build, I have said before, Fresh Air ele. In between the lightning procs to air attunement, you have to position ground targeted AoEs into some of your burst combos, manage kiting and manage your defenses well otherwise you’re very much dead. Thief at best is moderate, with on demand disengage on demand, stealth/target drop and damage with less the effort.
High Risk High Reward builds are not competative in the world of Conquest Spvp, maybe in a arena style 1v1s yeah, but most of the time now a days High Risk High Reward builds are something you take to duel servers or WvW roaming for garnering respect for playing something not many people know how to play. This is why we see mostly the safe meta builds in ranked, rather then the risky skillful builds. Because running super duper high risky builds are minimizing your chance for winning the game for your team, since most people look at it in a light where it’s what do you contribute to a team?
Bunker builds with good cc are my go to for conquest. You can decap/cap points without doing any damage XD

Why should paying customers have to sacrifice so people who are free-to-play or haven’t spent money on the game in over 3 years don’t feel left out. Make it an unranked map with a checkbox that you can’t select unless you have HOT. If you have HOT and think a glider map is stupid, you could just leave the box unchecked and let me have a stupid good time without you. C’mon Anet!!

In my calculus for a fight… I’d most likely save the blink unless I thought I could win easily.
I guess it’s different with ele. I use lightning flash to get on point quick and hold until my teammate with some actual dps shows up to kill the enemy. My strategy is never leave the point while fighting, and i’ll usually end up getting the point before killing the enemy, every time i see them step out of the circle, i’ll use an immob or knockdown to delay them getting back on point. I don’t try this on guardians though…

You don’t use ports/blinks for speed? So if you are running up on a point and the enemy is 2 ticks away from capping/decapping the point, you don’t blink to get there faster?
This is a PSA. Please try to remember to stay on point. No need to let a decap when you are 3v2 and everyone wants to range except the enemy… It’s really very frustrating to see a point get decapped on the mini map when we outnumber the point. Watch the ticks on the point and get in there when you need to!! 1 second can be the difference between getting points for the next 20 seconds of a team fight or getting nothing. This is a point capture game after.

okay first off OP, the top rank belongs to druid hands down. I can tell you aren’t incredibly proficient with the class at all. there isn’t one class that can counter dodge druid, which is my unique build and personally what I view as the meta build for druids. super high dmg warrior? no problem, just evade everything. condi shredder theif? cool just dodge and cleanse everything. condi mesmer with moa? cool just dodge and cleanse. high dmg thief? cool just dodge and heal everything.
Insane heals, high pet dmg, some of the highest possible mobility, second most stealth in the game….need I say more? lmao. the only weakness this build has is 1v4 combat or 1v3 vs good players.

Dodge Druid is a druid with insane heals (obvious), coupled with unmatchable evasion (more than daredevil) and condi cleanse

I’m starting this thread with the mindset that I want to have a civil discussion between us winners and the elo hell complainers.
I, kittykittymeowmew, landed in bronze at a rating of 612.
I’m now in platinum in less than 100 games with a record of 76-12 (soloq only) not including my placement scores.
I have three questions for you:
1) Is it possible to carry games
2) is it possible to climb out of gold reliably if you’re consistently the best player on both teams
3) why wont you guys just get good instead of spending your time whining here? Maybe you would have climbed out of gold if you did.Anyway, let’s have a fruitful discussion until the mod slams my thread away

I am a casual pvp player. I’ve been stuck in T3 Silver. I placed into T1 Silver and had nothing but wins until i got within 1 game of T1 Gold. I’ve been within 1 game of gold probably 4 or 5 times now and each time i get to the gold threashold, i get teammates trying to triple cap home and running far right after clearing mid getting get rekt by respawn…
I have no problem carrying my own weight. But I can’t carry more than 1 or 2 pvptards in a match…
1) Is it possible to carry games – Of course. It becomes a question of how many teammates you have to pick up the slack for. I can’t carry 4 pvptards.
2) is it possible to climb out of gold reliably if you’re consistently the best player on both teams – Mileage may vary on this one. For me personally, i’m not consistently the best player on both teams. But that shouldn’t be the standard for climbing ranks.
3) why wont you guys just get good instead of spending your time whining here? I don’t whine much. I tend to get in “trouble” for responding to whiner threads. My best posts are no longer available for viewing…
