I think once you get 3 or 4 wins in a row your MMR should start increasing at a faster rate. Not really seeing that now…

If it makes you feel better I only have 5 of my placement matches done. Not sure what that has to do with the excuses you’re making for yourself. Ele has its share of challenges. Target focus is real. If my team has poor DPS we will fight all day on point and never kill anything. there are plenty of drawbacks to having too much support on a team. But you don’t see me coming to the forums and saying that balance the problem

Lost my first 5 placement matches.
I decided to go Ele this season, problem is, there doesn’t ever seem to be enough dps on my team. I even got top damage in a match… as a support ele… with a necro and rev on my team WTF!
I guess i’ll be back on DH this season XD
I guess my only question about the placement matches is this: Is our placement rating based on game stats or W/L?

I think it would be nice to see every ones stats at the end. The point system can be misleading about actual match performance. I’ve won matches where my teams highest scoring player had less points than the losing team’s lowest scoring player.

What if every player spawned in a different spot? 10 spawn points around the map would keep the zerg in check. Maybe there are stat buffs like in Colosseum including something that would cause reveal for like 20 sec or something. The devs could get creative with the different buffs available in a battle only game mode. The key is to create something else in the match to focus attention. And make it so that ignoring the secondary mechanic will give the opponent an advantage.
No please no. GW2 is sorely lacking a PvP mode with no secondary objectives. If this comes back it would be best to be just a pure fight, no secondary objectives, no mechanics, nothing but fighting the other team
I think a secondary objective (read buffs) is necessary to split focus and discourage zerging. If you want pure and unaltered combat, maybe they should have 1v1, 2v2 & 5v5. 1v1 & 2v2 would have no buffs, but the 5v5 still needs a secondary mechanic imo.
I think Courtyard would be a huge mistake. After all, a major reason population is low is massive stomps. Courtyard promotes just that.

I think chronomancer’s healing well is the only healing skill that is ground targeted. (not sure) So i would think this could be an oversight in the release of HOT. But yes you are correct, logic would dictate that a heal skill should snap to your location…
I don’t play mesmer or use snap targeting. I prefer to use the option that won’t let you attempt to cast out of range.

As an ESL player and one who plays with coordinated teams, I’m not the least bit surprised you don’t like my suggestion.
I do, however, suspect that you would find the games much more difficult if you were solo queue’d in ESL as I’ve suggested. That would also be a more accurate depiction of how PvP is played in GW2 on a day-to-day basis.
The “experiment” should have been to bring back solo and team queue as separate options. But i feel like solo queue should be geared to give more prestige than team queue.
Have a leader board for solo queue that lists top players and a leader board for teams that lists top teams. Every “team” should be a guild with a team roster and unique team name.
If we are really worried about pvp population, shouldn’t the goal be to offer as many options as possible to create ideal playing conditions for ALL players?
Stop the majority rules BS and start using common sense because it really sounds like you are just trying to set up an ideal environment for your skill level / gaming style and telling everyone else that their opinion is wrong. There is no wrong answer except the one that causes people to quit the game.
Ground targeted heals should not snap to target.
If using snap to current ground target, ground target heals will hit the enemy. This is a serious liability and an effective nerf on any type of ground targeted heal.
You have to de-target, ( press escape,) and if using auto targeting you must not attack before activating the heal. On top of that, you have to wait the cast time for the heal before you can attack again.
(Thieves may also note issues using SR and SB2 if using auto targeting. )
Heals should not snap to ground target.
Request denied. If you don’t want snap targeting, turn it off.
I think you misunderstand the word “competition.” Using teams against non teams does not qualify as competition. Some words that come to mind are: farming, exploiting and trolling.
A solo que will bring things closer to a true competition. By definition a game is competitive when the sides are closely matched and each must play hard if they want to win.
Motivation to form a team was tried. The game even offers a chance to join your teammates after a match. Many people, like myself, don’t wish to play on teams.
What we need is motivation to play PvP.
Sadly, ANET offered a legendary backpack as motivation. Then they made it too hard to get. This soured quite a few PvE players who came to try for the prize. It won’t be easy to lure those players back.
A leader board would probably be productive.

Seriously?! I can’t believe this is your response. A leader board WILL be productive. Eliminating team queue completely in ranked was a huge mistake. I support solo queue as a separate option, but not the only option.
I feel that you are taking this solo queue experiment as a victory for your cause. I hope you will be happy when there’s only 20 people playing pvp, because at least they’ll be playing it by what you deem fair…

First show me how you deal in 1v1 with any other classes that skilled legend players play. Some of them killing every necro in 5-8 sec without losing any health or you just can’t kill it with your condi as they outlast your condi damage easy mode. Its balanced for peoples not playing necromancer

If a necro has a healer next to them they can be deadly, but solo they are not much of a challenge.
I like the idea of a “bot” mode.
But this “booster” for new players really is a horrible idea.
I think maybe a separate queue for beginners would achieve your objective. There would be a list of achievements that would be met before you could queue in general population matches. Things like capture 6 points in a match or something like that. Basically replacing the rank 20 requirement for ranked arenas.
Ha Ha. While i do seem to have trouble beating condi Chronomancer, i’m not a big fan of crying for nerfs on a class because i have trouble beating them. I figure it’s an opportunity to grow and become more skilled at the game. (That’s a nice way to say git gud)

I was thinking that it might be cool if there was some sort of duo-team ladder ranking option within the guild tab. 2 members of a guild could team up, give themselves a name and get their “team” placed within the guild. These teams could also be listed on an overall ladder outside the guild.

Unranked is atrocious, I’ve won 4v5 games because other side is so terrible and I’ve lost 5v4 because of the reverse.
It’s not even class stacking, the MMR system in unranked is basically non existent/trash tier.
Lol. Are we playing the same game? Am I the only one who has fun playing unranked? There’s like twice the number of maps and for me at least, the matches are pretty good most of the time.

Why couldn’t they just equally distribute the classes in each match? If there are 4 necros and 4 dh in a match couldn’t they just split them between the 2 teams effectively eliminating any advantage of class stacking? There just seems to be alot of issues with banning multiple classes on thr same team.
The problem would be what the mmr distribution would look like after that. If you prioritize avoiding class stacks, you might stack one team with higher mmr players. Then the question you would need to ask is: what affects match outcome more? Mmr or class composition?
That is definitely the question. If the matchmaking is putting 10 people of similar MMR into a match the answer would be class stacking for sure. But if the matchmaker expands it’s MMR range based on time in queue, then at a certain point MMR would begin to have a greater effect. If the algorithm accounted for this and swapped priority once the MMR range reached a certain point, that might be a solution. Will that stop people from complaining about how unfair PVP is? Probably not.

DH need the same treatment that Scrapper got for Gyro.
Cast time + Daze removal.
And… they need to set the CD when the trap triggered, not when the trap is put. Like gyro, the CD goes when they Gyro exploded.
As long they don’t do it, DH will still get that OP stigma for good reasons.
Whats your goal to make DH the worst class in the game? Its already totally over-rated and probably not more valuable then anything but Warrior and Thief. The nerfs of this last patch were all that were needed.

You really can’t compare gyros to traps but that doesn’t seem to stop the haters from trying.
CD on trigger has so many problems. For starters it means that if the trap isn’t triggered the DH ends up with a effectively infinite cooldown. This makes using a trap enormously risky. Purification would certainly never get used again because the risk of getting locked out of your heal is too great.
This would be easy to ameliorate with a flip skill that activates the trap early if you want to move it. Doing this might even increase the tactical usage of traps to serve as area denial.
I like the idea of being able to activate the trap with a flip skill. It seems like a good compromise, but i wonder what the DH haters have to say about it.

I’ve finally come to the realization that no matter what Anet does, people will continue to whine and complain. I think the title of this thread is a tad over dramatic….
I think it’s funny that people come up with “facts” that spread through the forums and HotM. Like the “fact” that DH is a no-skill class… In my experience, i can faceroll/button mash Engi, Druid, Ele and get good results. I can play thief and just completely avoid combat and focus on back caps and get good results.
Look, your negative opinions are bias. Your battles of “wits” are just copy/paste gw2 wiki. Calling out 1 or 2 skills as being OP without taking the entire class design into account seems to be an acceptable argument for some reason. Probably because people will support the bias claims if it allows them to project their sub par game skills off themselves. GLHF
