January
The frameworks for the Feb / March will be implemented:
- Items unique to the regions they are in, for the precursor scavanger hunt, as well as for a Nic-style daily (based on CJ’s comment on making it worth going back). Scaling will become harsher.
- WvW and open-world will have Ascended gear for BoH. BoH may have an overhaul.
Feb
*WvW progression will be implemented and be the majority of the update:
- Some sort of Guild progression i.e. Additional ‘Art of War’ upgrades will require certain guild rankings, gained through completing objectives as a guild, unlockable siege weapons exclusive to guilds ect.
- Some sort of Personal progression i.e. Becomes cheaper to purchase upgrades, can carry more supply, ect.
- More titles and WvW achievements to reflect personal progression.
March
March will hold mostly PvE content:
- Precursor hunt will be implemented.
- More fractals will be added.
- Revamped dungeon mechanics will be added.
- Lost Shore will be added to, paving the way for Bubbles to be revealed. Lost Shore will be the home of Bubble’s leiutenant fight.
- Possibly some sort of storyline leading to the opening of the Domain of Four Winds in the latter part of March.
Misc
- Possibly new weapon and skills implemented. I wouldn’t hold my breath for customisable weapon skills though, no matter how much some of us hope.
- SPvP will be added to (although I don’t follow it, so I couldn’t speculate what).
Guessing this is just a wish list?

i already read that, for me thats not enough… i want to see official announcement on their website… T_T

I don’t see them putting “announcing an announcement” on the website’s front page.

A Norn and Sylvari walk into a rough and tumble Norn bar. The Norn bellows “Your largest and strongest ale, now!” The other Norn nod in approval. The Sylvari states “Just a water for me, please.”
A hush falls over the place. The Norn whispers to his companion “You better order something tougher than that in here, friend.” The Sylvari turns to the bartender: “… and put it in a dirty vase.”
Q: How many asura does it take to change a lightbulb?
A: Only a bookah would phrase the question in such an simplistic manner, without appreciating the complexities of the situation. Naturally, asuran lightbulbs never need to be changed, so a security golem must sweep the area for the insurgents who vandalized said lightbulb. Next, we analyze the room with a spatial spectrometer to measure light reflection dynamics. In the event of sub-optimal parameters, an entirely new room may need to be constructed around the lightbulb, so as to fully take advantage of luminescent interplay. During construction, the security golem will be occupied with dispensing refreshments to the workers, so additional personnel will be called in…. etc. etc. etc.Edit: Oh man, everyone who commented before me had amazing jokes. Now I’m jealous! :-)
And the smart Asura would skip the golem and use the durational spectrometer to find out who did it.
Did you upgrade from a trial account to a full account when this happened? I know after the Lost Shores event several trial accounts had a similar issue upon upgrading.
I do believe it required support to fully resolve.
In part response to Warlock, if they were long term GW1, and GW2 players, then they would know an exploit when they saw it. Unless of course their brain cell count is below average and simply thought that getting more from less was a cool trick.
Secondly, if ANet is not ip banning these botters/exploiters, then they are doing it wrong and should not be profiting from what is ultimately their own coding mistake as you, Warlock, have pointed out.
Finally, Warlock’s suggestion is something that should seriously be considered by the development/moderator team and whoever else needs to consider it at ANet. When an exploit is brought to the attention of ANet, a MoTD should pop up for every player that logs in to the game, every time they log in, alerting them of the exploit in detail so they know to stay away until it is fixed. Anyone who attempts the exploit after the MoTD is in place should be ip banned WITHOUT review.
An example MoTD template:
MoTD: EXPLOIT ALERT:: Here are the details of the exploit, do not attempt to reproduce this in any way as the result will be an instant ip ban without review. Some people just suck and intended on getting ahead of others through exploiting a broken system.
Of course I would laugh uncontrollably at the last part if it was put in but that was just me being me. Warlock’s idea is a good one, use it.
Do not mention ip bans ever again if you know nothing about them. They solve nothing and bring a lot more problems at the same time.
Is there not a way to pinpoint any specific device (PC, phone, printer, anything connected to that network) THROUGH a network by ipv4 or v6. Routers issue an ip address(ipv4/v6) to the devices connected which depending on router and software can be static or dynamic ip addresses. I know there are safeguards in place that hackers regularly are able to bypass but I personally do not know the difficulties of obtaining these addresses.
It would be nice to know what you may know of this as that is where my knowledge of ip addresses stop. If you thought I meant network ip banning then that is my fault for not being more specific. I would think the devs/mods(if they even read my post) saw past network ip and knew I meant device ip as network ip bans would essentially screw over a lot of innocent players possibly connected to wifi of culprit players or whatever other hundred scenarios might occur
They would simply ban the account. IPs these days tend to be a bit fluid or serve mass numbers of people.
Unless/until you get the “exit instance” button to appear over the mini-map, leaving the instance for the main world should clear and “reset” the mission/quest instance.
What about a simple toggle? On/Off for the current level of inertia? Not trivial I know, but less consuming than making a slider and figuring levels, I’d think.
Hey Gaile, I came across this earlier, and it made my night, hahahaha
I give that guy a 2 out of 6 on trying, but he apparently doesn’t understand the differences between a comma and a period or when to capitalize. Otherwise he would of received a higher score.
Bonus (worthless) kudos for trying the “it’s a film genre” bit.
EDIT: Gaile – a community and dev digest separation worked great for City of Heroes (although marketing couldn’t make up their mind which they were :P)
You should know that we do not generally get involved in these sorts of situations, in that party formation is considered a “gentleman’s agreement” and it’s often quite difficult (and time consuming) to try to sort out “who did what, to whom, and why.”
However, you’re welcome to contact Support by filing a ticket through the “Ask a Question” tab on that linked page. You can include your screenshots in the ticket.
party formation is a gentleman’s agreement, but kicking right before the boss/rewards? That’s clearly griefing.
I wonder why we need an AMA since we have a whole forum dedicated to GW2 and it’s fans / people who play the game. Couldn’t they just answer questions here in the forums in the time they would do the AMA? Or is it the kind of “upvoting” a question thing that is important for the devs? Then I would ask: wouldn’t it be possible to include such a option in the forums here?
Part of it is a “publicity stunt” – and also not of the reddit community posts here and vice versa.
Some people also disable the filter due to false positives.
Note the ToS says simply no foul language.
But why would you search for something like this?
You can’t expect people to read the wiki all day for things they might acquire or purchase. I understand the logic behind “unique” but what does it hurt explaining it in the description of the item?
Anet seems to have a habit of erroring on the non-informative side of descriptions.
I would agree with the OP that he got kitten over by Anet on this one.
Just because it’s on the wiki doesn’t mean Anet shouldn’t explain better in-game.
This isn’t the first time I’ve seen people waste time/money due the the lack of description or details from an item.
Just my 2 cents.
What you are asking for is this :
Name of Item : Sword
Weapon Strength: 904 – 1000
+64 Precision → Increases Crit Hit Chance
+64 Toughness → Reduces Incomming Damage
+90 Condition Damage → Increases Damage done by some Conditions
Sword – This is the type of Weapon
Exotic- This is the quality/rarity category
Damage Type: Physical
Required Level: 80
Instead of the simple
Sword
Weapon Strength: 904 – 1000
+64 Precision
+64 Toughness
+90 Condition Damage
Sword Exotic
Damage Type: Physical
Required Level: 80
we have now.
A descriptor like “Exotic” or “Sword” or “Unique” is kind of pointless if it’s explained everywhere it shows up.
And in a way, it IS included in the game what it means – there is a reason why the developers not only started their own wiki but then make it so that typing in-game
/wiki Unique
(for example) brings up the page for the term. Or if it’s not a valid page name, searches for the term.
They have similar drop rates? wtf
What is even the point really.
I went through 2000 giant and didnt get any glue or stuffing. just the other garbage
He said it – so the crafting materials are more tier appropriate.
Does MF affect the drops? And is it better to wait till I get a bunch and open them all at once, or just open them as I get them?
Early in the post someone stated that magic find has no effect on gifts or chest, only rolls for mob loot. As to whether you wait or use them when you get them… I usually wait until I have ample supply, but I have no findings as to whether it helps.
Yeah, the developers talked about this… Around lost shores I think? MF only affects the drops that you have to “search” off corpses for and only at the time of mob death.
If you dont want to play the RNG,
Buy it off the Trading Post
Was gonna scroll til I didn’t see it and post it myself, or quote it. Don’t like RNG? Buy it. Heck, they fixed the whole weapon skin debacle where we got “rental” weapons. Give em time as well. ArenaNet have said myriad times they are a very iterative company. They will tweak their methods from now til the game goes dark. Quitting a game because of gambling on an item that you can buy seems drastic.
what do you mean, weapon skin debacle with rental weapons?
but just to ask, the skin bought for socks etc by the christmas vendor have a limited duration?
there is a bell also if i remember correctly. The bell you are talking about is a commensurable version of what I was after. It last for around 1-3 minutes then ends. I believe the skins are permanent, but I could be wrong as I have not read anywhere that they are.
They are permanent. Any talk of them being “temp” is people mixing them up with the fact you could rent scaling level fakes of the Halloween mini-legendary weapons (and those were full weapons, not skins)
The major difference is that they disappear shortly after they appear.
Could the timer be increased? The mobs in these presents are tricky, and they spawn/attack like a zerg. It punishes people trying to survive by attacking first to have the presents despawn so quick/.
These only give weapon skins? no unbreakable exotic items?
Just the skins. Use the. And they open the transmogrification window.
And from what I saw earlier, 90s each for the wand and slingshot is pretty good – but that might just be compared to last night.
Yes. You can only use the gem store minis to get it. This means you have to get 2 of each gem shop mini.
Not true the quaggan itself is a possible chance from the chests.
The op is combining about posts being either deleted or possibly merged.
If its like this post, he was posting a complaint without any useful feedback – a type of post ANet does tend to delete.
Check out the dev tracked – for Anthony. He talks about it. Pretty sure he said the winter chests (as in the ones in the gem store) can drop. Alternatively, sell as much stuff as you can and convert gold to gems.
The winter chests are a chance to drop in either the winter contents only, or in general. Not sure which m
Is there one or two quaggan minis for this? Got the snowman, golem, and a guaggan out of ten chests.
People on the forums are a vocal minority.
Therefore, Writetyper is asking for a, well, win/win situation?
Either we do what he asks, and ignore what he says, or we ignore what he asks, and we are doing what he says anyway…
However, IIRC, the patcher does percentages by number of files downloaded, not size.
Mine said 3% at about 206MB
I do appreciate the response of a mod without an infraction.
Anthony isn’t a mod. He’s a dev.
Big difference.
1.66 per 1 would be a faster recharge.
Sorry, next time I’ll spend more time policing up my grammar instead of answering more questions.
You mean ‘polishing up’, your spelling is terrible too, you **** !!!
Just kidding, it’s greatly appreciated that you answer questions, very, very greatly. Grammar & spelling remarks are silly in this context.
Keep up the good work!
Actually, I think he meant police-ing his grammar.
Please do not give away such valuable rewards again. I’m not saying that there should be nothing but it is somehow shifting the perception of the event from beeing a great event which you want to join for the sake of beeing great into an event which you join only for the reward you gain afterwards.
If they have a hard, involved event like the Lost Shores opening again, I hope they DO have a chest with rares/exotics in it again. While it was mostly fun, it was a grueling thing too and needed those to help make it worth it.
So when does the event start on Friday (14th)? (I was gonna create a new thread, but it seems like I could get an answer here) Hopefully its not 8:30PM server time again.
My question exactly. The time for the 14th isn’t listed on the schedule of events.
It’s answered in this thread by a Dev.
All arrivals and departures are 10AM PST.
Asurans are technologically minded, while Norns care more about beer, battle, and broads. Makes sense to me that the Asura would provide us with fancy new toys!
Not all Norn are into broads. Some would rather find a hunky fellow. But food and drink, certainly. The Norn would arrange a huge feast with some fighting entertainment, no doubt.
A recent average per movie comparison of past and current Bonds used the phrase “Booze, bodies, and bangs”.
Oh, what fun it is to have a slaying time tonight! – Charr Wintersday Carol
Wait, you mean the real world version isn’t “Slay Ride” after all? XD
Azjenco, I’m saying that there will be new crafting components specific to Wintersday. To get them, you play Wintersday stuff. Activities, events, etc.
We took a very different approach to Wintersday crafting than Halloween. There’s a lot more recipes and we made some of our unique skins considerably more easy to get.
Honestly man, I appreciate the answers, but when it comes to the market, just keep your mouth shut. This kinda of statement quickly gets spread through the blogosphere and has a REAL effect on the market.
Mr. Smith should pull you into his office and have a little chat imo.
There are many negative things I could have posted here, but most would have been chat filtered.
Don’t tell him what answers to answer. Don’t pretend like you know more than him about the game. And don’t take it out on him that you invested too much money in speculations that likely won’t turn out well. That was the risk you took. Just sell now and move on.
Thing is, nothing Anthony said here should have any great affect in the market. Just because they are introducing new mats doesn’t mean none of the currently existing mats will be used.

Hey man, I appreciate you trying to be an active part of the community, but when it comes to GAME DESIGNERS imparting info about the intents behind the DESIGN of the upcoming events in GAME, just keep your mouth shut.

So they won’t be the mini legendaries that the Halloween ones are?
Guys, I’ve been working to help players for a long, long time. (12 years with ArenaNet alone.) And I’ve seen some situations that just blew my socks off, that I never would have expected, where family members get into huge tussles over ownership of a game account, or when couples, even married couples, write us to appeal for a resolution to a shared account situation.
I’m not trying to scare you — I’m telling you the truth. I wouldn’t share my account with my husband, my best friend, or Mother Theresa.
The last one would be tricky anyway.
that was a fun step.
Got to do it twice cause I had to bail and couldn’t finish the instance first.
To clarify: character death on disconnect is a WvW only change.
Will there be any timer? As someone mentioned, you can get stuck in combat mode sometimes.
The fact that you even replied shows your immaturity. The fact of the matter is: nobody likes snitches. Snitching in the game will become a sort of social death for the person in question in most cases.
Just to clarify – and this response makes you the bastion of maturity, right?
Yes.
Not sure if serious /joker

Troll and Noob are terms gamers use, and they are to describe a % of a population in certain aspects when they meet certain criteria. Its true that in the past they might be consider bad terms but please we are in 2012, expand your mind terms that were once bad are now consider usual language spoken by everyone.
True, but developers posting as developers will always be held to a higher standard. As it is, Robert here came kinda close to passing over the line.
On the other hand, I’d rather have the devs edge the line than not talk to us. One of the reason why I miss city of heroes – the team there had a nice vocal contingent – and they were loved for what they shared.
And as far as reporting exploits go – if Anet ever gets a system in for dungeon rewards that lets them adjust each path’s rewards, I’ll be happy to have exploits reported. Because once they get that, they can adjust the rewards for difficulty and /time/.
Furthermore I already stated this, but never NEVER ever do something like this during the off hours, but do it during business hours so you can jump on any problems immediately. This is just another major F-up by you guys.
Wow. You’ll go far *rolleyes*
The script was run during business hours (Based off the posts, sometime between 11am-12pm Pacific time). It apparently took longer than they estimated, however, and ran late.
Not sure of the surprise "Lock you out of the website and game" maintenance was related or not.
So I see John Smith edited what he said.
Not cool again.
I appreciate the gesture of you guys trying to compensate us, but this isn’t really working out. Is there going to be a redo for those of us lead astray from opening these on a low level character?
Wow, he made a mistake, and fixed, it, so he’s horrible now? other than specifically granted loot, when HASN’T loot a) ignored profession b) paid attention to your level?
Just got a random mail from the developers with a 20 slot bag, wicked accessory and 2 exotic weapons called dawn and silence and some yellows.
Does anyone know what this was for?
-Sincore
I just receive the bag and opened on a lvl 80 with 160% mf, not everyone receive a precursor :/
MF has NOTHING to do with loot from chests or emails. It only affects corpse-searched loot, and it must be on at the time of defeating the monster that turned into the corpse.
With the high chance of exotics, a large number of people have gotten precursors, but here or the event, it’s not a sure thing.
