No worries, Emberfoot. I personally hate that “wall o’ text” and I’m going to see if we can get rid of that in the future. I know it’s needed, and it’s valuable, but it’s not well presented and I feel it’s less than user friendly. And yeah, that’s an editorial opinion, but I think it’s pretty valid.
With that update I really believe you’ll hear from someone quite soon. And I feel confident we can help you with the issue.
Thanks for your patience!
One way to avoid the wall of text issue is when you put in a support request, via the website, make sure you’ve created a support account. Based on my experience in other NC games, the web version of your ticket will be a bit more readable (mostly because it, unlike the email version, can avoid all the forward-the-whole-message-back in the reply).
2. The demand for the karka shell armor from the temporary Southsun vendor will be similar to other exotic armors. I think I’m being very conservative here. If the armor looks cool, 8s for karka shells now will be a bargain a week from now.
I seem to recall hearing that a) the vendor is part of the new meta event and b) the new meta event is permanent.
mmm wasn’t there a data mined spec on a “group havesting tool” …?
I believe you are mis-remembering the data-diver finding evidence of an improved “looking for Group” tool, – not another harvesting tool – at the same time he/she found the sickle.
The exchange rate surged because players rushed to convert gold to gems for the sickle and the kitten. Large influx of gold in and gems out means the exchange price surges.
In a way ArenaNet does affect the exchange rate but by only putting items in the gem shop players are willing to get but are too cheap to buy the gems with $.
I was so upset Tuesday when I realized I forgot to buy my gems with gold on Monday
It does go up and down, try right before they release new stuff (usually a Tuesday, so try Monday).
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck – it’s probably not a chicken in disguise.
Either way, someone is always going to cry fowl play though.
Changes to important things like salvage rates would be listed in the update notes if they have changed. If it’s not in the update notes, then no changes have been made by the development team.
Remember “Final Rest”? I do. I think that something is fishy with ectos aswell. SO MANY people are randomly asking if any1 else is having problems with ectos atm – I don’t think it’S coincidence. For me the return rate is terrible as well. 21 rares 2 ectos so far and still counting.
Final Rest is kind of a unique case. It was a miniscule chance from a bugged event, and they went and purposely buffed the chance after they also fixed the event.
As for the ecto change, I seem to hear someone say it’s been nerfed every patch.
See: City of Heroes and Accuracy Nerfs :p
I’m relatively new to the game and I might be wrong in saying this, but a friend of mine said she received more ecto by wearing lots of magic find gear and being in Southsun with the magic find bonus on her when she salvaged her gear. She was getting around 13 ecto for every 10 items she salvaged. Have you tried that?
Magic Find affects corpse-dropped-loot ONLY, and only at the time of death. Chests, Salvage, etc are not affected by MF.

“Ask a question”
You should be able to get back in easy, sounds like you got hacked. You might be able to request a rollback on the account to regain lost characters/items.
If you need to add additional information to you ticket, do not create a new ticket, but instead update your ticket through the interface.
Add information to the ticket you have opened 130527-000403.
Additionally, you can reply to the email copy of the ticket that is sent to your email address.
One trick that works for some people is making sure to click on the CC icon for the type you are using.
Alternatively, if there is a best buy near you, I believe they sell both the $15 and $25 gem cards.
Other places should as well.
That does seem pretty mild, I’m kind of surprised that triggered a ban.
It seems like the process they go through, or most of the GMs go through anyway, involves suspending your account, hitting the character with the forced name change, then un-suspending your account.
The trash talkers are the ones who lose out here because they are the ones who get banned and grouped into the same category as fraudsters and cheaters. Anyone with the emotional maturity of a toddler can click on a report button and POOF!! No GW2 for 3 days, as if A-Net decided to be our parents.
let me guess, you go to someone’s house, say something rude, immature, or gross, and they ask you to stay away, it’s all their fault you got kicked out, right?
It sounds like you were picked on as a child, Rajani. And I’m genuinely sorry about that. But that doesn’t mean everyone else who’s got some tough skin should have to pay for it.
I’m simply saying that some people don’t care for trash talk.
And in this game, that can have (as you have learned) repercussions that you feel.
Trash Talk is like sexual harassment.
It’s not necessarily the people you were talking to who were offended.
And just because trash talk has been around for a long time doesn’t mean it needs to stay.
Tickets are not handled through a first one in, first one out principle. The handling time depends on a lot on the issue at hand
When it comes to account recovery the respons is normally several hours. But for e.g. an rollback it takes longer.
It’s a blend of FiFo and what the ticket is about, as far as initial responses go.
Account access issues are usually prioritized over most other issues.
If you can, get the account serial and the date of acitivation date, and purchase method info together for when they contact you. Then you can just hand it over and minimize downtime (if you bought online via the website, the serial will be in an email.
Maybe the EULA should just state “We are dictators so watch your back cause we’ll ban you for anything if it’s offensive”
Close, so close
While playing Guild Wars 2, you must respect the rights of others and their rights to play and enjoy the Game. To this end, you may not defraud, harass, threaten, embarrass or cause distress and/or unwanted attention to other players. This includes posting insulting, offensive, or abusive comments about players, repeatedly sending unwanted messages, reporting players maliciously, attacking a player based on race, sexual orientation, religion, heritage, etc. Hate speech is not tolerated.
What is vague about that?
I am a little surprised that the line does not say “includes (but is not limited to)”
EULAs/TOS are often left a little vague for 2 reasons :
Helps them smack down people who would otherwise toe the line.
Lets them be easy on someone depending on the circumstances were a more defined set of rules would not

Still no reply on this matter, i have sent them yet another email in hope of a response..
Ticket: [Incident: 130525-002303]
Sounds like you just put in the ticket today.
Give them at least 24 hours to respond, and if no response happens after 72 hours from their last contact of you (or if no contact, when you first submitted the ticket) you can post a request in the “Tickets 3 days or older Review” request thread at the top of this forum.

there is one more indeed but same as the first one which was also in a private whisper to that same friend (not in any racist or harrassing context) but it was a bit embarrassing especially if you take it out of context lol (which was the reason we were whispering in the first place) . and I took out the GM name ^^
Are you 100% positive none of the lines got mis-typed into a more public channel?
Does the Launcher not give you any other message other than an error code?
Trash talking is what PvP is all about.
Yeah, you couldn’t be more wrong.
Exactly
The ELUA/TOS apply to WvW as much as anything else in this game. They are also your primary (if not only) warning. This fact has been stated by Gaile Gray speaking for Anet.
The fact that to do your trash talking, you invite people to your party, makes the GMs look at this in a worse light.
If you used profanity, again worse light. Double if you misspelled in an apparent attempt to bypass the filter of your target.
3 day suspensions are the minimum punishment they hand out for things they suspend for.
And you were suspended, not banned. This game treats them as different things. Mainly, bans are permanent.
EDIT : Added comment about Gaile Gray and Warnings.
(edited by Rajani Isa.6294)
Cursing, insulting whispers, attempting to pull mobs on the person, telling him that you will never help him with the event. You’re also stopping a temple from being uncontested and are disallowing people from buying karma gear.
Maybe your server isn’t very friendly then.
That’s the thing. It’s rarely the many that screw things up for everyone. Usually just the few being kittens.
More so, I don’t understand why this is surprising for so many players. Everyone saw the nerf coming. It was blatantly unintended, and while I wouldn’t go as far as calling this an exploit, no one should have not saw it coming.
It was an exploit.
Anet never interned for it to be more desirous to NOT finish an event than to finikitten – this was an exploit of the game’s design.
I admit, I’d be shocked and disappointed if Anet did any more than they have, though. This is the kind of exploit where if you got pulled over by police, they’d be saying “just wanted to tell you your tail lights are out” kind of thing.
Yeah, it just sucks that those of us who actually play get punished cause of botters. guess I will have to find me another farm.
Bots, and people who got abusive towards others (usually done in tells to minimize the chances of being reported) who advanced the event chain.
I really wish people would stop quoting the dictionary…anyways…
This was absolutely NOT an exploit.
If a quest specified you needed to kill 10 Undead….but you killed 15 instead, accidentally or on purpose…would that be considered an exploit? Would you report yourself for doing so?
Right, because making sure a word is used properly never helps things :p
This is quite simply a game design/mechanics exploit. Not saying that if it was a crime it’d be a life sentence type crime or even just a “minor” felony (this type would be a misdemeanor). While I don’t doubt this will get changed (probably just remove the drops/exp) I don’t see them banning anyone over it.
Note that if you haven’t previously created one, you won’t have a support account. You don’t need one, but it’s nice to have (you can always simply reply to emails after you create the initial ticket.)
I play on Blackgate, it’s mostly a US server so population dips quite a bit at night and early in the morning. You might want to give it a try when you wake up or maybe late night before bed.
Best of luck to you.
This.
Server Population is really a Current Load indicator.
If they ever get such an ability, it will only be used on items tehy can verify, as well.
And I wouldn’t expect it to go too far back, and definitly not farther back than the account resto start point (December). I don’t see them having it available for more than a month back (if they ever do.).
Where are these two?
If you want more info on Faren, run a Human Noble character.
Ughh faren is back?? He is almost as bad as trehearne :/
You’re just upset he emptied your wine cellar. And then stole your cook.
Zoomunlocker lets you do something that the deveopers clearly do not want you to do.
It gives an advantage to those who use it – significant even in PVE although much more in PVP – to those who use it over those who don’t.
It’s going to be considered a “Ban” versus “ignore” type for sure.
The Wiki is incorrect, then. She’s L10, as is the story step she’s in. (And she’s lower level in the lower level story steps.) She could only reach 11 if you take multiple players into the story step, causing it to scale up.
Mayhap that’s from when she was 11? (IIRC, she was one of the ones that made it live as a +1 level “veteran”)
what about also adding invulnerability/untargetability until the character moves (if doable)?
What the wiki states is true, and makes it easy for new players, such as yourself, to resettle on a new home world. Do be aware, too, that your friends can move to your world, instead. Since they’ve been playing for a while, they’ll have more wealth than you, so it won’t be a major hit on their pocketbook.
And yes, guesting is a good option, as well!
Or your friends could chip in and send YOU gold, which you can then turn into gems for the transfer fee.
1- Always always always save those serial numbers. If something happens they are the easiest way to get back in your account. I store mine on my password app in fact.
2 – if you have the data ( sounds like you bought online so you “should”) for when and where you bought it and some other details, support can get you back in. (Submit a ticket under “ask a question” at support.guildwars2.com. Note if you have not made one you do not currently have a support account. Such accounts are separate/different than the game accounts.
3 – check your browser’s settings to see if it stored your password – you were able to log in the forums after all.
Devon, thanks for detailing your reasoning, but I don’t understand why you think a WXP allocation reset is required for this. There are two separate points:
1) Even if the range increase was significantly lower, it would still be very valuable for only 5 points, and anyone regularly using arrowcarts would be foolish not to go for it.
2) When confusion was nerfed, mesmers didn’t get a full replacement of their confusion gear if they wanted to switch to a power shatter build. There is a long history of balance changes making some of your gear/skills obsolete in MMORPGs, and this would be very minor change compared to those that have come in the past.
One can replace one’s gear after a change to powers. One can switch out which skills one has.
One cannot change how they’ve allocated their WvW “trait points”.
You could argue that Mesmers should of received a free trait respec (if they didn’t at the time of the nerf) but even then, it’s not that spendy and there IS a player-initiated mechanism to do so already.

I do see what you’re saying, and you’re right, it’s my fault for cursing. Let’s be logical here though, when I say kitten…what happens here? Why can’t they just do that in game chat? If you don’t want somebody to shoot someone, why would you put the gun in his hand? By this I mean, why don’t they just remove cursing all together? Boom, every problem has just been solved. Kind of silly if you ask me.
Nobody put a gun in your hand because you decided to curse. You loaded and fired it yourself. Just because I’m wearing a bullet proof vest doesn’t give you the right to shoot at me.
It isn’t the fault of Anet that you didn’t read the ToS and Code of Conduct. However by logging in and playing you had to click the agree to terms button therefore you agreed not to use adult language in game, language filter or not.
Looks like you got a temp ban so just ride it out and consider it a lesson learned. Don’t curse in chat, you will have no more problems with being banned for cursing. Seems pretty simple to me.
You’re completely missing the point, if they don’t want it then they can get rid of it themselves. Simple as that, but I do agree with what someone else said I don’t think it’s the cussing as much as it is the abusing other players, which is completely understandable. I for one don’t get offended when people cuss, or criticize me to the point of feeling the need to taddle. I grew out of that when I was about 4 years old lol. I guess I’m just used to the internet and online games. I know how people roll so it’s nothing new or anything to get kitten about. If it was over a chat issue I don’t see why they wouldn’t just perma mute me from map chat. I’ll give them credit for one thing, even though they are losing players they still aren’t scared to ban the few that they have left. I don’t mean that sarcastically either, it’s good they aren’t scared to stand up for what they feel is right even if they have to ban every last player. Thanks for the replies guys! I’ll just wait it out.
/thread
As far as why you can turn the filter off :
Filters can mess up. They can make mistakes (Heck, on the forums it used to turn Kessex Hills into KesKitten Hills.) That is a large part of why it can be turned off.
Just keep it clean in /map, /team, and /say.
If you don’t know all the people well to know you will be okay, then apply it to /party, /whisper, and /guild as needed.

While it is not public (therefore right of free speech doesn’t apply) the game is still a “place” even if not a physical one, in a legal sense, IIRC.
-Has it actually been verified that it was related to chat? Or is there still no indication of the reason? You should probably submit a support ticket… if it’s meant to notify you why you were banned and hasn’t, either there’s an issue with that function, or perhaps you were banned in error to begin with.
Bans and suspensions are supposed to ID why they were given when you try to log in, as I recall.

Your filter only filters out other people’s profanity…..not yours.
To be specific – it filters the incoming text, not outgoing. Turning on your filter, then cursing, will not stop others who have their filter off from seeing the language you used.

I’d suggest waiting for Gaile to return from vacation to see if she can figure out what is going on, but please don’t PM her. She doesn’t want private messages.
ok ill, but seriously what ncsoft did to me its crap :P
i could sue them without problems.
But winning would be another matter.
But as was said above, if you want a review, post in the sticky thread in this forum talking about 3 days or older tickets.
If a ticket isn’t updated after three days or so, their system auto-closes them.

ArenaNet will never contact you about your account, unless you have contacted them first. Never click on links in emails, without first ascertaining where it is they actually lead. Please remove those links from your post, to prevent others from visiting potentially harmful sites. I hope you have changed your passwords and email address associated with your game account to keep your account safe from being compromised again. Best of luck to you in the future. =)
Sorry I did not see the message when I wrote the earlier message. I already changed the password ,but not email. I will take note about the “ArenaNet will never contact you about your account, unless you have contacted them first.” as a life lesson. Thx both of you for answering my problem.
The only exception I can think of will be emails along the lines of “We’ve detected your account doing X, we’ve suspended/banned your account. Please submit a ticket at support.guildwars2.com to appeal”
The email you see as the origin can be spoofed, so no need to block the noreply@guildwars2.com address, just only go to their site (or your banks, etc) by typing in the website URL.
If you are experiencing difficulties with logging in, you can contact Customer Support, and they will assist you.

‘Ask a Question’Good luck. =)
even if you don’t have the account key, they can help you (they just require more and different info)
Note if you had never expressly created a support account, you wouldn’t have one. Support accounts are seperate from game accounts.
Also, you can always update an old ticket by replying to the email they send you.
Thank you guys !
My brother is willing to delete all his chars so that’s not a problem.
Thanks again
As far as I know stuff stored int eh bank will be still there, so if there is anything account bound he wants to keep he can use that.
In Chrome, the menu button in the upper right, settings, show advanced settings, “Manage Saved Passwords”
Typo. I meant achievement
The very last title? That’s for “talking” to the bonfires now up.
The only forced password change I know of was initiated back in the end of 2012. Like Inculpatus here, I changed before the forced change but after the initial announcement and have not had to change it again.
Try contacting support if you are having issues (support.guildwars2.com, ask a question tab. Note Support Accounts are separate from game accounts although both can use the same email. As such you may have yet to create your support account.)
So far, most events have not run concurrent.
Patches are usually Tuesdays.
I would make sure click a bonfire before Tuesday, as a result.
