What he said in /party didn’t go through (and /guild) nor could he see it.
Whispers said he was offline, but he could whisper me.
He still showed in party to me, although I didn’t see him in the guild list.
Logging in/out fixed it, but then it happened to me a minute later.

I think that it is my right as a customer to do everything in my power to bring ever increasing attention to anything that directly effects my ability to enjoy what I paid for and if that means slowing down the response time for other bugs then so be it. Who’s to say that the bug that’s affecting me is unworthy of being fixed in an expedient manner? However an unintentional increase of … what 0.001% in the drop rate of unidentified dyes gets a fast and immediate hot fix?

1 – It is NOT your right as customer to degrade, intentionally, other players’ experiences. Spamming the support system would be doing exactly that, and open you up for getting a ban (abuse of the ticket system).
1a – And Insert your foot into your own mouth – no where did Jeffrey V say this would slow down fixing other bugs – the people who deal with your support tickets are not the bug fixers. Notice he said it would slow down helping PLAYERS with account/support issues.
2 – A 1/1000th of a percent increase isn’t what happened. I myself have experienced something along the lines of an increase of 300-400% . Others have noticed as much as 1000%. much different than a 0.001% increase. Enough that I saw them selling (unidentified) for less than 2 silver after practically being locked in place at 3.5 silver for weeks.
3 – We have no idea exactly what has broken in this story step. The dye seems to have been a mere decimal getting moved somewhere, somehow.
4 – One reason the dye fixed might of been pushed through is the economy of the game. The hatchery bug doesn’t affect that.

you know, this is my first post and its a shame that an other wise nice game has such an issue. the programer said he FIXED this on 23 oct but has NO IDEA when anet will let it go live. at this time that was 9 days ago that it was fixed,
Getting fixed right before an event is the WORST time for a bug to get fixed – they usually get pushe doff to after the event. And we currently have two events back to back :/

It’s hard to prove a negative. Just because what you saw was really there doesn’t mean you are not crazy :p
The support website(s) use their own login system. If you have never signed up for one you cannot log in. They can use the same email address as the game account but are kept seperate in case of things like account hackings, etc.

This is the wrong thread for this. And a day early too.
As was mentioned, sometimes it is hard to get a hit in before a mob dies now. If we’re scaled down that little, they could easily grief low level players especially considering the fact that a high level player will have more (and more powerful) skill slots as well as better gear/runes/sigils than lower level ones. This means they can generally hit harder, faster , and more often.

If you get it wrong on the support ticket, they’ll redirect it to the appropriate people. Although it would be nice to add a “I don’t see my issue here” option under the subfields.
While your level scaling tech is pretty good, is there a specific level this is being designed at? Even with level scaling there often tends to be a level to be at, that makes the event easier.

Ladyosheep – as your post reads, it would penalize anyone who tries to buy a replacement code if they had some charge happen that brings their available balance below the amount needed.
As it is, if someone does a charge-back on an account – for any reason – that account is closed. They (NC/Arena Net) know and acknowledge they have an issue with fraudulent re-sellers right now, so they’ve been allowing (once you make contact with support) for people to buy new codes and re-instate the account.
Arenanet is showing its bias and bigotry against large characters, by putting in an event which results in large characters, (Norn and Char) becoming the targets of derision and scorn because the environment of the jumping puzzle puts them at a disadvantage and obscures the puzzle for others.
I do, truly feel bad about this. From the ground up, we designed our game mechanics to encourage cooperation and altruism in the community, and this JP’s mechanics broke that design aesthetic. It was an accident, but I still accept responsibility for it.
Don’t get too hung up on this – a good portion of it was the players being selfish @#%R.
Just try and keep these things out of events – when they are this hard, and time limted (and this one double so since it was on a timer) that raises pressure. If it was a permanent addition to the game, I don’t think it would of been as big a contention point. (And as of this post, I have NOT finished it, still like it though)
A good game designer would not design a dungeon that required you to be a certain height to shoot over an obstacle, but Arenanet seems to have no compunction telling Norn and Char tough luck when it comes to tight spaces and jumping puzzles. New players ought to be warned that the camera completely bugs out in tight spaces for large characters, and the large character models completely obscure the path in jumping puzzles.
Well, ideally we will continue tweaking our camera until this is not a problem. Throughout the development of GW2 I was very purposefully pushing the boundaries of spatial layout and mechanics, because I believe you can’t know what your limits are until you pass them. One of the themes I tried to explore in a couple places was claustrophobia. (Specifically in Troll End, which I consider to be my worst JP) I always play as the largest male Norn in these areas while I’m building and testing them. One of the reasons for pushing the limits like this is that our engine is malleable because we are an MMO, so we are always tinkering, and it’s possible to push the direction of the engine in new and interesting ways, but only if there are compelling mechanics to justify those changes. I’m one of the guys always pushing and pushing to try to discover new compelling mechanics. That means a lot of experiments. And the nature of experiments is that some fail. But I assure you, at no point have I, or anyone here, built something that totally sucks for one of the races and said, “Well, screw THOSE guys! I don’t care about Norn!”
FYI – I gave up on my norn on Troll’s end. The camera kept catching on things, and it started to give me a headache having the camera shake back and forth because of placement. It’s one of the places where it would be nice to be able to be in first person view. (The other is screenshots).
And Ascent seemed to have a few paths, but most of them seemed (especially 2nd to 3rd level) have a very small tolerance for hitting the right spot.
wait what? If im in Orr farming mobs for an hour or more, I will start to see diminishing returns on my drops? WHAT? I am not a botter…. seriously why are regular players being punished.

Doubt it – it would be one of the first tricks they’d program a bot to do.
What about (personal) Trick or Treat backs? Does magic find influence what you get out of them?
From the above statements by the dev, I ’d say:
Magic Find affects the loot dropped by the creature if worn when the creature is killed.
Loot dropped by a creature refers only to what you get from the corpse.
Chests are not affected. Not even chests set to spawn by killing a specific NPC/NPC group.
What is inside dropped containers (aka bags of materials) is not affected

“Ascent to Madness” was closed with the start of Act 4. If you have not already fought the Mad King, you cannot anymore (for this year, at least).
They said they are not extending the event, because they have stuff happening in November that starts with the patch tomorrow.

City of Heroes had a lot of run in with that, but then Marvel’s derogatory nickname is “The House of Litigation” – and CoH was in the same genre as Marvel’s characters.
But the ToS as written for ALL NCsoft games would prohibit it. I’ve noticed a character on Crystal Desert named after a Gundam character, and he’s still here even.
Maybe Arenanet would be very nice and allow you to buy a serial, and then use it to re-activate your old account if you explain you are the victim of a possible fraud?
There is a good chance this could happen – it’s happened in the past.
How did you buy it? I’d print that email, whatever invoice you got from the site, and forward it to your card’s issuing institution (or paypal if you went that route) if the site will not refund your money.
If they do make it easier, I ask they have two versions, and you choose. Original vs Easy.
THe main complaint I have (other than people playing Norn/char who ignore the requests for them to remove their BIG SPIKY ARMOR to help improve other’s view) is that it is as hard as it is, and it’s a seasonal puzzle. I think the seasonal stuff should be a little more achievable because part of what limits getting it is time.
The puzzle itself I’m (mostly) fine with (well, other than the groups of people making it hard to see)
I only care about the emisarry title,idc about getting the achiv to finish it
We were told that the Jump puzzle (in part because it’s so difficult) and the Carving achievements (by a dev) are not supposed to count towards the five achievements needed to get Emissary.
The game account and support account are separate, yes. Someday I hope that will not be the case, and you can have exactly the same details on both, so I believe it’s not too much of an inconvenience.
There is a limit of one game account and one support account per email address, but you can have one of each on the same email address.
I believe NC wants them kept seperate in case of things like account lockouts and hacks.

I probably had about five to ten last night, and in the hour I played this morning I got disconnected three times – pops up an error message (code=7:1000:7006:836:101)
Don’t know if the bug i submitted in game went through, I ended up with a crash that time. This is since the Halloween event update went live, no previous issues.
What is the point in having separate region servers if US times are gonna be used for EU servers anyway ?

And there is a vendor that sells temporary weapons with the crafted skins in Lion’s Arch.

Ablation – for that #1, I think you are reading too much into it. Your pets Crit hits do 30% more damage, simply that.

If they are able to restore to a point before the tool was implemented, you’d loose xp, gold, etc – everything – you’ve done since your account was jacked and restored to you.

Jayshua – what happened there is a game design flaw. Dungeons are currentl keyed to the person who started them, and if they quit the whole thing disbands. They are working on changing that, IIRC.

When the restore function Gaile is referring to is done, it is my understanding that it will be an ACCOUNT rollback.

yeah, if they don’t know the account hasn’t even been logged into yet and a character created, they would ask for the name – it’s SOP for guildwars and Aion, IIRC.

Can you not log into those other accounts to remove the credit card details manually?
Support might be able to – but even if the account no longer has the card on file, there is a record of that card having been used on it.
It’s an anti-let-us-go-and-buy-new-accounts-on-a-stolen-card-FAST measure.
What I would like to know is will this app be in the respective APP stores? I know that no official APPs can be installed on Windows Phone 7 or 8 unless M$ evaluates it first and puts it in the store. There is no way for Anet to have the app here as a download link unless it somehow is instructing ZUNE software to install it with M$ blessing…
GW2 is simply using Google’s own Google Authenticator application. It looks like there is indeed a version on Windows Phone 7.
Admittedly this is from another NCSoft game, but in City of Heroes if you submitted a ticket on yourself and supplied some suggested/preferred names, they’d help you out.
If you do this, I’d recommend the support.guildwars2.com (Create a support account if you have not already, NC keeps it separate in case of lockout/hacking) since the “Ask a Question” feature lets you actually TALK to them vs the in-game reporting.

The programs that enable controllers to work are generally no more than key reassignments. Those should be fine and not flag your account.
If you have not, I’d recommend calling your bank and asking if they had any flags with it. This could be a case of a “gray list” being updated, and now including NCSoft.
